REVIEW: This is the first I’ve read in the Shifter’s Unbound series and I was glad I read it! I was hesitant as I don’t care for books where the shifters are segregated with extreme prejudice. Especially these control collars but I am so glad that I gave it a chance. I liked Ronan’s quiet strength and calm and Elizabeth was very likeable. Their warm romance was satisfying and blended with the story well. I like all the characters and now want to read about them all.

ALEJANDRO’S SORCERESS by Alyssa Day
He’s a warrior, hardened by years of protecting his town from vampire attack. She’s a garden witch who sees the world in shades of sunshine and delight. Opposites don’t only attract, they go supernova in this sizzling tale of magic and mayhem.
REVIEW: Stoic and guarded Alejandros meets quirky Rose and her crazy family. I loved the humor and fun little story on how they meet and fall in love. Thankfully the author added a glimpse of my favorite Atlanteans too. A good simmering romance filled with laughter. I can’t wait for more!

BEWITCH by Felicity Heaton
A vampire with a bloodstained past and a soul tainted with darkness, Payne is perfect in his self-control, never surrendering to his darkest desires. Now a beautiful witch in the shadowy fae underworld reawakens long denied hungers and tempts him with pleasure. When one incredible night of fulfilling their fantasies leads to more than just keeping a promise and saving a friend, will they be able to overcome the barriers that stand between them and forever?
REVIEW: A lovely erotic romance of Payne and Elissa, each facing demons from their past. They are both strong yet vulnerable and the two sides blended well with the story. A very enjoyable read.

DARKNESS FALLS by Erin Kellison
Agent Malcolm Rook is hunting for people with the rarest of talents—the ability to master dreams. He finds the undeniably gifted Jordan Lane, but she’s wary of mysterious Rook and resists his pursuit as long as she can. Yet the dreamwaters they enter are too exhilarating to resist, and attraction soon ignites electric passions. Delving too deep stirs a nightmare, one they must defeat, or be forever lost to darkness.
REVIEW: Not the usual storyline that I am used to but I got caught up in the possibilities of this dream world. The danger of exploiting this dreamscape was a nice backdrop for the hot romance. A good introduction to a series with a lot of exciting possibilities.

ROGUE’S PASSION by Laurie London
Blaming himself for the death of a friend, Iron Guild warrior Asher Kane vows to bring those responsible to justice. After he’s hurt on a mission and nursed back to health by a beautiful yet mysterious woman with special psychic abilities, this dangerously sexy bad-boy finds himself falling for her…even as he struggles to stay away. But stalking them on the streets of New Seattle is a cruel and vengeful evil—one that threatens to destroy them both…
REVIEW: This is a tense hot romance in the Iron Portal series. I loved the cat and mouse danger and was pulled hard in to the different character’s lives. A very interesting storyline angle and I can’t wait to read more. On my TBR list for sure.

THE FORBIDDEN LIFE OF ALEX MOORE by Erin Quinn
Alex’s mission: Kill the hellhounds that have invaded earth and return to his home in the Beyond. But from the start, things go horribly wrong. The hounds are cunning and a human female witnesses their attack—she intervenes and saves Alex’s life. Now he must keep the alluring Lilly alive while fighting his desire for her. When passion flares, Alex risks all to protect her and defend the forbidden life he craves.
REVIEW: The title threw me off at first but I was pleasantly surprised with the action filled story. The romance was satisfying and I’m intrigued by the turn of events in their happily ever after.

THE MATING HEAT by Bonnie Vanak
Werewolf Kara Mitchell fled with her brother Aiden to Montana after their alpha father punished her for kissing sexy omega werewolf Ryder Carrington. Left scarred by her father’s cruelty, Kara believes no one can love her. After killing his alpha to save the pack, Ryder now rules, but needs a mate. His blood runs hot for Kara. Ryder will do anything to claim her, even risk an all-out pack war that could cost them everything…
REVIEW: This is a nice quick read about overcoming scars from the past and embracing love and hope for the future. A very likeable cast of characters and I enjoyed it.

TRAPPED by Caris Roane
Mastyr Vampire Zephyr, a one-man fighting force, struggles to save the life of a woman who despises his warrior ways. She’s been a thorn in his side, but he has one goal: to keep her safe. For Alesia, however, she just wishes he’d leave her alone since she can never approve of his profession. She broke up with him months ago and wants to start a new life. The trouble is, he’s still the one man who can curl her toes.
REVIEW: A fast paced story of fighting their love while being hunted. I wasn’t thrilled with her prejudice against the warriors who protect her people but she finally came around. A nice little paranormal romance.

Dark and Deadly Bad Boys who are soooo good....

The Bodyguard - Jennifer Ashley - I read this novella when it was previously published on its own - If you haven't read it, the story is worth the current .99 price of this anthology by itself . From my review of the novella ...What a nice surprise to find this Shifters Unbound connected short, I actually really like this series and it was fun to see the past leads in supporting roles, but I really loved bear shifter Ronan, he was a real honey, big and protective, but still respectful of his heroine Elizabeth's independence. For those who haven't discovered Ashley's series yet, this short gives a good feel for the Shifters Unbound universe.

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore by Erin Quinn - this story is set in the same world as Quinn's Five Death's of Roxanne Love ... another being from Beyond finds love. This is actually the story that inspired me to buy the anthology (since I really liked Roxanne's book) and while the in the short space the romance is really quick, there is a good sense of an immediate connection as two broken souls - only one of whom is human - are drawn together. There is also a feeling that 'change' is in the air and I now I am really looking forward to Quinn's next story.

Alejandro's Sorceress - Alyssa Day - I loved the first half of this, it was surprisingly fun and humorous for a Warrior's of Poseidon connected short. But honestly, I would have liked the story better without their cameo - I thought it derailed the story a bit. It's been awhile since I read this series but I suspect that Alejandro (who fought vampires in his earlier life) made an appearance in the series somewhere along the way.

Bewitched - Felicity Heaton - Part of her Vampire Erotique Theatre series - This story felt long (it is 140 pages in print) probably because there was room for multiple long smexy times and also time to get to the reason for the incubus/vampire leading man's issues with a capital "I". I've liked Heaton's angels, but this series goes a bit into stuff that doesn't work for me - leading man Payne, is so down on himself that he pain gets him aroused - there is light bondage and his heroine dominates him (but she's new to that, so that part isn't too hardcore.) Fans of the series will get to touch up with past and future stars of the series.

Rogue's Passion - Laurie London - book 2 from her Iron Portal series - My overall reaction to the story would have been a notch higher but the smexy times didn't quite resonant with me - she has to obey his orders or be 'punished'. But I really liked everything around that, I liked both of the leads and thought that the post giant-Earthquake Seattle with portals to another world was interesting. I will definitely consider going back to read book 1 of the series.

Darkness Falls by Erin Kellison - This appears to be a new series starter, and I really liked it. I thought that the world building associated with Reve, which on the surface gives people ability to experience shared dreams, but looks to be way more than that, was really intriguing. And I liked the intelligent heroine and the way she wraps the dark and deadly hero around her finger. I will definitely be on the look out for more of this series.

Mating Heat by Bonnie Vanak - I think this is part of a series - I am a shape shifter fan and have liked the Nocturne's I've read by Vanak, but this one didn't quite do it for me for some reason. The pair have a history which normally makes it easier to pull off a HEA in the short space but this time the past and its scars bogged the whole thing down.

Trapped by Caris Roane - Part of the Blood Rose series - I liked the pairing but the foundation of the world in this one didn't speak to me, she is a Blood Rose (a super special vampire slurpee treat so she should mate with him before others claim her) and they have both a mating 'frequency' and a battle 'frequency' (I just had problems with the terms.) I might have liked this better if I'd been familiar with the series.

Here's the link to the individual books :
Alejandro's Sorceress by Alyssa Day Bewitch (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance, #5) by Felicity Heaton The Mating Heat by Bonnie Vanak Darkness Falls (Reveler, #1) by Erin Kellison Rogue's Passion (Iron Portal #2) by Laurie London Bodyguard (Shifters Unbound, #2.5) by Jennifer Ashley Trapped (Blood Rose Tales) by Caris Roane

Quinn's short looks to be available only in this anthology so here's the first book in her series instead:

Hard Mated by Jennifer Ashley

I LOVE Jennifer Ashley's Shifter Series. I have read this book (practically the minute it became available) before and enjoyed reading it again. This series is definitely a winner and on my keeper shelf.

The Mating Hunt by Bonnie Vanak

While I enjoyed the basic storyline (shifters), the sex part was way over the top for me. Just not into that kinky stuff. Others might enjoy it, however.

Embrace the Dark by Caris Roane

I enjoyed this book so much that at its conclusion, I went directly to Amazon to see about the rest of the "Blood Rose" series. I'm not a great reader of vampire books, but I did enjoy this one. I would purchase more from Caris Roane.

Assassin's Touch by Laurie London

Another book that grabbed me and I enjoyed. Another visit to Amazon to check out more in this interesting series. Can't wait to read more.

Shadow Bound by Erin Kellison

This one book, for me, was the highlight of this series of books (not counting Jennifer Ashley's Shifter book). I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't stop turning the pages to read more. When I finished this book, I ran to Amazon and purchased more in this series. Loved it!

Seduce by Felicity Heaton

Another good vampire book. Certainly made me want to purchase the next book to see what happens.

I love the fact that these packages of books are now available at a great introductory price. They give me the opportunity to read authors that I would not have looked at before, in genres that didn't exactly interest me. Having a headliner, Jennifer Ashley, is smart marketing and certainly got my attention.

Even though I didn't exactly like the kinky sex in one of these books, I have to give this series a solid Five Stars. It was a great representation of hot paranormal romance books and I would definitely recommend it!

Dark and Deadly: Eight Bad Boys of Paranormal Romance
by Jennifer Ashley, Alyssa Day, Felicity Heaton, Erin Kellison, Laurie London, Erin Quinn, Bonnie Vanak, Caris Roane

I already have Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley, but I’ll pay $1.07 for a look at the rest of the stories.

BODYGUARD (Shifters Unbound #2.5) by Jennifer Ashley
Elizabeth Chapman is a store owner with a past she is hiding from and Ronan is just a big old teddy bear of a shifter who fosters a bunch of bear kids. When Ronan saves Elizabeth sparks fly and he gets embroiled in her life and danger. These two are cute together as well as being sexy, and I can easily see how they will fit into each other’s lives. This is one of my favorite entries into the Shifter’s Unbound series.

ALEJANDRO’S SORCERESS by Alyssa Day
This appears to be a spin off from her Warriors of Poseidon series.
The story starts with Alejandro in a training exam at the FBI Paranormal Operations Division HQ and he seems to be a little more than the average training recruit. Rose Cardinal is a garden witch with a bit of extra insight into a person’s deepest desires…and a bit of a problem with authority. This story is very humorous so it doesn’t quite fit the Dark and Deadly theme here, but it is a really enjoyable entry anyway, and definitely makes me curious about the other series.

BEWITCH by Felicity Heaton
This is book 5 in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series. “Enter the dark, sinful and seductive world of the four vampire owners of London's premier vampire erotic theatre, Vampirerotique, and discover how these powerful vampires will be brought to their knees by the women who claim their hearts--a mortal, a werewolf, a vampire, and an angel.”
Payne is a part incubus vampire on a mission to help a friend. He’s dark and brooding and quite frankly maddening. Elissa is a witch living in an underground fae city and she seems to have a problem with the local coven. There are some pretty significant BDSM scenes in this story that not all readers will be comfortable with. There is of course a lot of drama and the ubiquitous happy ending but overall it shows a slice of an interesting paranormal world. While this is part of a series, it stands on it’s on fairly well, though I think some of the very beginning and very end would have made a bit more sense had I read the rest of the series.

DARKNESS FALLS by Erin Kellison
There is an immediate urgency here. You are dropped into this story with no background or real frame of reference. It is all nerves and intrigue. There isn’t really anything to be said about the characters without spoiling the story. I will be watching avidly for more stories in this series.

ROGUE’S PASSION by Laurie London
Could not get into this. If I get a copy of the first book in this series, I may come back to this one. I think I might be missing vital information.

THE FORBIDDEN LIFE OF ALEX MOORE by Erin Quinn
What makes a human, human? What makes a human special, what makes them more? And why are potentially evil puppies so damned adorable? This appears to be a spinoff of Quinn’s Beyond series and it was a pretty intriguing story.

THE MATING HEAT by Bonnie Vanak
I suspect this author does not actually know what the term overweight actually means. Other than that, this is a nice little PNR. It’s an ooey gooey friends to lovers with a werewolf twist.

TRAPPED by Caris Roane
This is a Blood Rose Tale which is a short story set in the The Blood Rose series. These Blood Rose Tales are better served by reading the rest of the series because it looks like a pretty interesting world but you just get teased with it in these Tales. Beyond that this is a story about how two very different people are able to start seeing a problem from each other’s perspectives.

review posted on Got Fiction? book blog

When you buy an 8 book anthology for 99 cents, if you find one story you liked, I consider that a win. I wanted this anthology for the Alyssa Day story alone. Everything else was just bonus at that point. But I've been waiting for Alejandro's Sorceress for years.

Now I did DNF 1 story in this antho, but with 7 others, you really can't go wrong! There is something for everybody here.

Quick ratings:

Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley- 5 stars

I loved this story about a girl who works at a convenience store and the bear who saves her. Hot shifters, a fight club, drug lords, and romance. This story has it all.

Alejandro's Sorceress by Alyssa Day- 4 stars

This is the start of a new cross-over series with Alyssa Day's Warriors of Poseidon called the Cardinal Witch series. It's a lighter in tone and more of a PNR lite. Alyssa Day's trademark sense of humor shines through as we see one of her warriors dealing with a witch and her kooky family.

Bewitch by Felicity Heaton- DNF

This was a mess. All over the place writing and While I don't mind a broody, angsty hero, too much self-loathing makes for an emo character I don't enjoy reading. onto the next story.

Darkness Falls Erin Kellison- 4 stars

That was a 5 star story til the end. It literally ended mid-action. The next book does pick up where it left off, but it's the sister and not the same action/plot. I feel like I have half a book and the end is missing. Other than that, I think the world is so interesting and really different.

Rogue's passion by Laurie London- 3 stars

From the Iron portal series, this is the only full-length novel in the antho. We're taken back to the alternate universe of a slightly different Seattle, and another world that coincides.

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore by Erin Quinn- 3 stars

This story definitely has potential, but really, it was missing something. Either it needed more world-building, or more clarity on the hero. Basically, he comes from his world to hunt hellhounds, but he knows it's a suicide mission, as his people rarely come back? <--I guess, this is where it was a little confusing. Plus it was his first time hunting hellhounds, and I don't know. It just needed more.

Mating Heat by Bonnie Vanak- 2 stars

This sounded good, but it really didn't work for me. The heroine is being kept by the leader of her old pack. She calls her brother to prevent all out war, but instead of reassuring him, she basically ramps up the fear, and doesn't tell him anything helpful. She makes it worse. I had to wonder what the purpose of that phone call was. The hero then calls her brother to demand 1 night with the heroine, and he'll trade half of their father's gold for it. But when he makes the call, the brother doesn't know she's there...she already called him! He should have known, I still don't get that.

Trapped by Caris Roane- 3 stars

This is part of an established series and I wonder if I would have enjoyed it more if I'd read the previous books. I still enjoyed it, and I think the series looks interesting, though, especially since I still love vampire PNR.

This box-set is a phenomenal combination of authors all in one collection; bringing together a wonderful array of enchanting paranormal romances.

In Hard Mated Jennifer Ashley gives the reader an insight into the life of Spike, a wildcat shifter who has an unexpected surprise which changes his life; along with intense relations with Myka this story is suspenseful, romantic and captivating. Anyone having read Jennifer Ashley’s Shiftertown novels previously will recognise the background characters within this novel.

In THE MATING HUNT Bonnie Vanak writes the story of Arianna for whom a traumatic experience in her childhood has caused emotional scars that only her protective guardian Kyle can help heal. With a twisting, mysterious storyline and passionate romance, along with tense situations this story will keep you hooked and needing to know more, until the ultimate ending of the book. . But the sexy, mysterious shifter harbors a dark secret, one he's determined to hide from Arianna.

Written with a skill that enhances the characters to the point of realness, Caris Roane gives us EMBRACE THE DARK and introduces Abigail who is more than she realises and Gerrod a mastyr vampire who is drawn to the unobtainable Abigail. With romance and passionate sexual tensions, along with suspenseful intrigue and danger this book is entertainment at its best.

Forced to participate in a war due to a Talent for protection, undiscovered for most of her life Neyla’s life story is told in Laurie London’s ASSASSIN'S TOUCH. With Neyla on one side and Rickert on the other the story of what is true compared to what is believed is fascinatingly addictive within this novel. Wonderfully told and well written this futuristic read is definitely worth the price of the box set alone.

Splendidly incredible SHADOW BOUND by Erin Kellison twists the way we expect a paranormal romance to be written, twisting and turning through a complex, yet easily followed storyline that will cause the reader to hold their breath at times and pant their excitement at others. The Segue Institute hides a secret in its depths that Adam Thorne battles with. Talia O’Brien knows she is different and understands why, she doesn’t however expect to get entangled with Adam and his battle. A lovely romance that twists through dark possibilities – this novel leads into a series that the reader will be eager to investigate having tasted this novel.

Ultimately a wonderful box-set that’s only negative could be that you will want to read more from these authors and will feel compelled to purchase more books.

Wonderful!

I purchased Dark & Dangerous for the sole purpose of reading Hard Mated (Shifter's Unbound) by Jennifer Ashley. I've been marathon reading the Shifter's Unbound series this whole weekend.

Hard Mated by Jennifer Ashley is the story of Spike, a wildcat shifter whose just found out he has a cub. The mother is dieing from Cancer & has requested Spike raise the cub.
I give Hard Mated 5 stars

Embrace the Dark by Chris Roane. This is a story about Gerrod, a master vampire from the realm of Merhaine & a human baker called Abigail. The premise to this story really caught my eye the idea of a "blood rose" was most intriguing. I give the story a 3.5. My interest in the world was limited to ETD

Seduced by Felicity Heaton is about Sera a 30 year old vampire who is obsessed with an ancient elitist vampire named Antoine. After I (suffered) passed the first few chapters it turned out to be a decent read. I must admit Antoine's POV made the story worth while. I give it 3 stars I'm doubtful I'll follow this series but don't rule it out completely.

Mating Hunt by Bonnie Vanak is the story of a tramatized Lupine named Ariana & her guardinan Kyle. Ariana is going through her mating cycle however, she's deathly scared of sex. Kyle is hiding a secret that may destroy the trust his ward has in him.I give this book a 5 star review it was a delightful read. I will be looking into this series. I really enjoyed the world & secondary character.

Assassin's Touch by Laurie London is a story about war & two soldiers from opposites sides of said war learning not all i sas it seems, they have more in common than they originally believed. I rate it 3 solid stars. I'm unlikely to continue the series.

Shadow Bound by Erin Kellison is a story that start's with a man living in shadows & a sickly woman barely living having one moment of pure pleasure, the result truly alter the future. I rate this book a 2.5 reason it's so low is bc I had to force myself to finish the story. It didn't catch my interest first in & i put it away thinking i'd go back to it. I attempted to read it a 2nd time & got about 1/2 way before I thought of DNFing it… but I pulled through to the end. I also had a strong dislike for thhe hero thought him misguided & a revenge obsessed asshole for 99% of the story. I enjoyed the world & if the hero wasn't so infuriatingly selfish I would have rated the story average (3 stars). *No names given so as not to give anything away. (No spoilers) Needless to say i'm not interested in this series. I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the author's writing style.

A potpourri of good books. This bundle was well worth the purshase. 6 paranormal books in one package can't be beat. This bundle introduced me to some authors I've been curious about as well as some new series. I have to say that my favorites stories were Jennifer Ashley's Hard Mated and Laurie London's Assassin's Touch. The male and female characters in these two books really appealed to me. I also can't forget Caris Roane's Abigail in Embrace the Dark. I enjoyed Abigail so much because she was a confident adult woman. Also she was NOT a handwringing can't make a decision type of character and took all new information in stride and dealt with it. Much appreciated. Spike's alphaness combined with his loneliness in Hard Mated really tore at me heart. In London's book, there were no vampires, but the parallel world motif was refreshing. Once again great read(s) and great new series. All 6 books in this bundle are worthy.

Note: I'll reviewed each book under it's own title.

I have to say on the whole I really enjoyed this novella set. Even a couple of these were what I would consider full length novels. This is a set of books for adults (a few of them were very hot and all had smex in them) who enjoy PNR. It is a great introduction to series you have either been curious about or are actual introductions to a new series. After all the stories, you get a look into the series the novellas occupy with some introduction chapters of a novel in the series. That way you can be extra sure you want to dive into the world and romance provided by each author.

I haven't read the whole book yet but have read Bewitched by Felicity Heaton.

Bewitched is an enjoyable erotic vampire romance. I didn't connect with characthers as much as have in Felicity's other series's, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good read as it is ! full of vamps and witches and lots of sex.

There's another 7 more book to read too - this bundle is a bargain.

This is a fabulous box set with a verity of PNR from light to dark to erotica. Something for everyone! Super bargain deal! 8 books and we get shifters, far, vampires, and werewolves. My favorite’s in this set are Bodyguard, Bewitch, and Alejandro’s Sorceress.

My Review On Each Book

~ 5 Stars ~ Bodyguard is #2.5 in Jennifer Ashley Shifters Unbound series. Each novella can be read only, but they fit perfectly in the book series. I get goosebumps every time I read Bodyguard. It is my favorite novella next to Hard Mated in the Shifter Unbound series. I just want a sexy lovable bear shifter all too myself.

Jennifer Ashely knows how to write a story. The written flows, the characters are interesting, and the world building is exquisite. She knows how to pull you into her world and shows you that shifters have much more power then humans believe. The mate-bond is explained remarkably well. The Romance between Elizabeth and Ronan is sweet and there love making is sensual.

I just want to eat Ronan up. He is delicious and oh so caring! He adopted a bunch of cubs that have had traumatic experiences and are facing problems like Cherie with her PTSD, Rebecca’s PMS, and the boys Olaf and Scott’s night terror dreams. He knows just want to do to help each one out and makes a loving and caring home for them.

Olaf is adorable! When he is introduced you can’t help but fall in love with this cub. I just love seeing him and how he attaches himself to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is cautious and does not trust easily, but when she meets Ronan he knows just what to do to break down her walls. Experience has taught her you don’t trust anyone for any reason. People will turn on you once they are done with your problems. She longs for security and safety.

I recommend picking up Shifters Unbound series. The novellas are heartwarming and easy to read. We are introduced to shifters of all kinds in this series, we get heartwarming romances, and a little action. It’s a fun light romance read!

~ 4 Stars ~ Alejandro’s Sorceress clearly takes place in the world of the Warriors of Poseidon series, since it has some of the same Atlantans within the book. I have only read book one Atlantis Rising, but have the rest on my list to read. Alejandro’s Sorceress is not a hard book to get into even if you have not read the series yet. It clearly stands on its own. I was laughing, smiling, and have a blast reading this story!

The romance is fast paced, but cute. I prefer to spend more time with a couple, but the humor that Ms. Day added to this story drew me away from it being an insta-love. Rose, the garden witch was a great character. I enjoyed her strength, the crazy family she has, and that she takes no crap from an alpha male. Alejandro, a P-Cop was a fun character. He is alpha, cares about his friends, and wants to protect. I enjoyed seeing him get all alpha when his Atlantan friends show up. The epilogue was great. It had me smiling for the couple. I also liked the little peek we get into the Atlantis world.

Alejandro’s Sorceress is part of the Dark and Deadly box set. This was a fun, humors, and sweet romance. We have magic and fate. With a weird witch family and some hot Atlantans making an appearances. I had a smile on my face throughout this story!

~ 5 Stars ~ Felicity E. Heaton put a spell on me. I could not put this book down. From the very first page I was hooked until the last page. I have been waiting to learn about Payne from the moment he was introduced to us in Seduce .

Payne is one of the newer vampires to the Theatre. There is lots of mystery around him and his past. He sets out to help his fellow vamp family venturing into the fae world looking for a specific witch that might be able to help. I liked that we moved outside the Theatre and into the supernatural world. Payne eventually finds Elissa who is in need of help. She knows where to find what he needs for his friends. Elissa is perfect for Payne. I enjoy when the characters complement each other, help each other over come issues and grow into a meaningful relationship. Both of them get something unexpected from their bargain and we are taken into a sexy tale immersed in healing and discovery.

Bewitch has a little light BDSM. I enjoyed the journey Payne and Elissa go on and by the end they both find what they need in each other. It is a sweet emotional love story full of sexual tension and sexual release. Ms. Heaton never fails to deliver in the heat department. I just loved both Payne and Elissa. They are my favorite couple in this series so far. I can’t wait to read Unleash. We finally get Snow’s HEA.

~ 3.5 Stars ~ Darkness Falls is book one in the Reveler series by Erin Kellison. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m not a big fan of things that do with the mind, dreaming, and/or time travel. I always feel there is to much to take in and to many options.

Darkness Falls is about dreaming, living a life within your dreams. It’s a shot read, but not an easy one. I had a hard time following the world at times, eventually I got use to it and some things flowed even though I did not have a complete grasp of what went on. Things will probably become more clearer as the series progresses. The characters are interesting. Malcolm is a character you want to root for and Jordan has a impious sense of humor. Their is some heavy flirting, a sex scene or two and an element of danger. The ending leaves you with some unanswered questions and a feeling that you need to read on to complete the story.

Darkness Falls is part of the Dark and Deadly box set, but also can be picked up solo. I went back and forth on Darkness Falls between liking it and not, but by the end I felt it was a good read. I would like to see what happens in book two, but it’s not a story I felt I could read again over and over.

~ 4 Stars ~ Rogue’s Passion is book two in the Iron Portal series by Laurie London. It takes place slightly after Assassin's Touch ended. Asher had lost a dear friend and he is seeking revenge. I was a little disappointed in this book, I enjoyed it, but not as much as Assassin’s Touch.

Olivea, is a Healer-Talent and has kept under the raider of the militant forces that want to use all Talent’s wither they want to go or not. I felt her talent never got used to it’s full potential. Asher, an Iron Guild warrior. Asher is attractive, has no talent, and is not looking for a permeant relationship. I liked the softer side that we got to see of him.

Olivia and Asher had good chemistry with each other. They played their roles well. We do get some pretty yummy scene’s between Asher and Olivea. I enjoyed Asher’s dominance. The ”finger” action was unexpected and something you usually don’t see.

The world building was ok! Could have been better. I miss the other realm that the Portal’s lead too. We really don’t get much of the Iron Guild’s world in this book like we did in Assassin’s Touch. The interaction between the characters was enjoyable. Rickert and Neyla do make an appearance and we learn something about them. I liked Rand as a secondary character he brought us some perspective. Their is a little action, but not as much as I would have liked.

Overall, Rogue’s Passion was an enjoyable read. It is part of the Dark and Deadly box set. I’m interested to see what takes place next in the Iron Portal series.

~ 2.4 Stars ~ The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore: This is my first experience with Erin Quinn. I’m not really sure about this one. After some research I found out that this is or seems to be the prequel or maybe in-between The Five Deaths of Roxanne Love and The Three Fates of Ryan Love in the Beyond series. The novella is not really clear on where it stands.

This is a short novella about change/evolution. Alex and Lilly were ok, but the thing that kept me reading was the hellhounds and dogs, they made the story interesting. We do have a little action and some love making. I did not feel the connection between Alex and Lilly and they hoped into bed way to fast for my liking. I also had trouble following the world. I was unsure as to what the characters where human/alien/something else. I eventually got it, but would have liked more development in characters and the world.

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore is part of the Dark and Deadly box set. It was an ok read. It did not entice me to pick up the series.

~ 3 Stars ~ The Mating Heat is a prequel to the Werewolves of Montana series. This is a nice quick read about overcoming scars from the past and embracing love and hope for the future. Insta-love storyline. We get a taste of the world of the Werewolves of Montana, but the world is not fully developed.

Both Ryder and Kara as well as the whole pack where damaged by their previous Alpha. They are friends who turn into lovers. Ryder has always know from that one kiss that he shared with Kara that she was special and no other would do. In the story Ryder goes back and forth between wanting to take Kara and wanting to woo her. As the story progressed he saw how much damage her father did to her emotional/physically, that the only thing he forced her to do was face the pack with her damaged face, so that she could see that the pack accepts her as she is and that she is and always will be the heart of the pack (the glue that kept them going).

The Mating Heat is part of the Dark and Deadly box set. It was a nice quick PNR read into the Werewolves of Montana series. I enjoyed it.

~ 2.5 Stars ~ Trapped is a quick short read set in The Blood Rose series by Caris Roane. Probably best to read The Blood Rose Tales only if you have read the rest of the series first. You only get a taste of the world and you may have some questions otherwise.

Alesia and Zephyr know each other and had a previous relationship, so the relationship did not have to be built from the begging which helped since the book was so short. I got frustrated with Alesia ’s view point on the wraith’s and her inability to see what Zephyr goes through as a warrior protecting the realm. They both did some growing in their view points and found a true compromise in the end.

Trapped is part of the Dark and Deadly box set. It’s a quick short read with some action, hot romance and a fascinating world. Recommend reading The Blood Rose series first.

BODYGUARD by Jennifer Ashley

Elizabeth Chapman is saved from an armed attacker by a Kodiak bear who shifts into a tight-bodied, naked human male. Ronan takes Elizabeth to Shiftertown, becoming her 24/7 bodyguard. The mateless Ronan has adopted a houseful of orphaned Shifters--having grown up in foster care, Elizabeth is touched by his protectiveness. Ronan only wants to keep Elizabeth safe, but the sassy woman is triggering his long-buried need to mate.

I really enjoyed this novella. While is number 2.5 in the Shifters Unbound series, I didn’t have any trouble understanding the world and the dynamics of the society Jennifer created.

Elizabeth has a quiet life as a shop owner, she wasn’t expecting anything to change but then one guy tries to rob her store and a giant bear comes to the rescue. The bear turns out to be a shifter, someone who in this world Jennifer Ashley created is a second class citizen. Shifters have to be controlled like the animals the society thinks they are, so when the police arrives, Ronan, the shifter, is send to jail for attacking a human.

Elizabeth helps Ronan to get out of jail but the guy who tried to rob her isn’t happy and neither is his brother. They want to silence her and now Ronan has to protect her.

We meet some very interesting characters living in Shiftertown who add elements to the story in little ways.
Elizabeth has been hurt in the past and trust doesn’t come easy to her but Ronan’s need to protect others puts them together in a lovely love story.
I fell in love with this bear shifter who could go from caring to funny to sexy in the blink of the eye.

The only things that bother me were some issues with the time line. I was lost in different points how fast or slow time was passing but it didn’t affect the story much.

While this book is not heavy in the steamy, it has plenty of tender moments that will have you melting and reaching for your closest teddy bear.

This little novella was a surprise of humor and loads of sexual tension.

Officer Alejandro has one purpose, protect people from the evil beings of the supernatural world. Rose is a witch who lives happily in a little town with her crazy family.
When an invasion of basilisk forces them together and Alejandro’s partner turns into a stone, the couple has to find a way of turning him back while fighting their attraction. Add a crazy grandmother, an overprotective and noisy mother and a sister who defends the basilisk.

Rose and Alejandro’s fear to their sudden and power attraction are very real. They way they try to remain reasonable and ignore it make it for some funny moments.

Overall this is a quick, funny read with the right dose of sexual tension and steamy moments.
The epilogue is really sweet, I really like it.

Allow me a minute to cool off.
First off, I recomend reading this series in order, so you can have a real feel for all the characters in it. Secondly, read it alone and with no interruptions.

Payne is such a good character. Fighting with his nature all along and at the same time wanting to give it freedoom. And Elissa is a very strong character, willing to do anything she can to get what she wants.

The chemiestry between them is amazing and the steamy is off the charts. Felicity Heaton is a master at balancing super hot scenes and the story of her characters in the books.

This is a MUST read.

This story is a little confusing at first, I wasn't sure what's going on and to be honest I almost give up on it. As the first in the series I was expecting a little bit more info on the world here but after a while is was easier to understand the world Erin present us.

Malcom is a very misterious character while Jordan is easier to connect with. The way they meet and feel atracted to each other is fast and hard and they unknown things they face together are darker than what they look.

The whole premise of the world Erin is presenting us here is interesting and I'm really looking foward to see how this continues with Jordan's sister.

ROGUE’S PASSION by Laurie London

Blaming himself for the death of a friend, Iron Guild warrior Asher Kane vows to bring those responsible to justice. After he’s hurt on a mission and nursed back to health by a beautiful yet mysterious woman, this dangerously sexy bad-boy finds himself falling for Olivia…even as he struggles to stay away. But stalking them on the streets of New Seattle is a cruel and vengeful evil—one that threatens to destroy them both…

The story starts off really good, it catches you from the start and the way Asher and Olivia cling to each other in order to survive makes for a great story.

There were some things I wasn't so sure about... I think the author should have presented it differently for my taste... and the whole agreement wasn't presented in it's full potencial.

Regardless it makes for an interesting story and really presents a world I'd like to keep reading.

I really enjoyed this one. While it was short it presented enough of the world for me to understand what was happening and it also presented enough to make want to pick up the other full novels in this world.

Lily lives alone with 5 dogs her sister left her after she died. Alex is sent to earth to kill the hellhounds that should be here.

When the two meet atraccion flows, but the are many reasons Alex shouldn't give in.

This is a great story about good and evil. About how different the realms in earth can be and how everything can evolve.

To be honest, what I liked the most about this story is the great dane and her hellhound... those dogs stole the spotlight!

I'm not too sure about this one. The story was good and Ryder ended up winning me over but I felt like the characters weren't fully developed.

Ryder and Kara suffered a lot of pain at the hands of her father and former alpha. When Ryder kills him to save the pack he forces Kara back with the intention of convincing her to be his mate.

Ryder healed more easily and he helps Kara see herself the same way the rest of them sees her: as a sweet girl who always protects the pack.
I would have liked a bit more to their stories and the way they dealed with their scars, but the love story was great anyway.

I really enjoyed this story. The relationshp between the two characters was already devoleped and still it was easy to follow. The reasons they stayed apart of each other felt real and it make the novella all the more interesting.

Zephyr is a warrior who believes the evil he hunts has no salvation, so he kills them. Even when his point of view is what is keeping the woman he loves away from him.
Alesia belives that eveyone can be saved and she can't accept what Zaphyr does so easily.

When danger comes knocking on her door and they have to face death what they both belived was the only way isn't so easy to see anymore.

I love the dinamic between the characters. The way they had valid reasons to stay away and a hundred others to be together.

I'd really like to see what the other books in the series bring to this world.

This is a fabulous box set with a verity of PNR from light to dark to erotica. Something for everyone! Super bargain deal! 6 books and we get shifters, fae, vampires, death’s daughter, and werewolves.
My favorite's in this set are Hard Mated, Seduce, and Assassin’s Touch each getting 5 stars from me.

My Reviews on each book:

5 Stars ~ Hard Mated (Shifters Unbound #3.5) by Jennifer Ashley

Every since book one Pride Mates I have been waiting for Spikes story. I really wanted him to get a full length book, butHard Mated turned out wonderful and I’m happy with the novel. I love the Shifters Unbound sereis by Jennifer Ashley. She makes you want to have a big tuff loving shifter of your own.

Spike, a wildcat Shifter and the champion fighter of Shiftertown. Will have his world turned upside down by a little human women and son/cub he never new he had.

Myka, who’d been raised by an abusive stepfather will do anything to protect the little cub and make sure that the wild fighter who is his father will be a good fit.
Both will learn to protect and love each other and the little cub.

Spike is just so darn sexy. I’ll take a tattoo, harley riding, sexy shifter any day. The story is a fun easy romantic read! Myka is perfect for Spike, they complement each other and their love making was hot and sensual. The world that Jennifer Ashley creates is believable and her shifters are more then just animals they are loving caring beings who will do anything for the ones they deem worthy to love.

If you have not checked out this series yet. I highly recommend you do!

3.5 Stars ~ The Mating Hunt (Werewolves of Montana #2) by Bonnie Vanak

The Mating Hunt is book two in Werewolves of Montanaseries by Bonnie Vanak. With this being book two I did not have any trouble picking up on the world or charactors. The sexual tension between Kyle and Arianna was well done. I liked how Kyle took his time and helped her over come her past trauma.

Arianna has a phobia of sex. As a werewolf it is in their nature to be sexual as well as for them to come into heat. They need sex to alleviate the tension during that time of year.

Kyle also has a difficult past with him being a hybrid (wolf and satyar). He has been a drifter for most his life. Keeping his hybrid status a secret.
Both have difficult past to over come before they can come together.

I like to read series books in order, but this book can be read as a stand a lone. The Mating Hunt was a good read. It did not prompt me to want and read the rest of the series, but I did enjoy the story line and sexual tension between the leads. We get lots of sexual tension, hot sex later on, a bad wizard, wolf sex as well as satyar and a couple who must both over come their past traumas and hurts to be together.

2.5 Stars ~ Embrace the Dark (The Blood Rose #1) by Caris Roane

Embrace the Dark is book one in Caris Roane The Blood Rose series. Earth has opened up to many Realms and Abigail has come to Merhaine to open a bakery. With her stepping foot into another Realm and meeting a mastyr vampire has caused her body to change. Gerrod is leader of Merhaine and has been obsessing over Abigial, but keeping his distance for over a year; after all she is only human and can never fulfill his needs. We get a little action, lots of detail on the world and creatures, and a little sex(not so spicy).

Gerrod, mastyr vampire of the Merhaine Realm was an interesting vampire. Always putting his people first before his needs. He never takes time for himself and Abigail has observed this and feels a need to comfort and make him smile.

Abigail is human a blood rose; which means she produces more blood then her body needs, can eventually turn into a vampire (if she choose to bond with a mastyr), and gets some extra cool gifts. At the time she meets Gerrod she has no idea what she is, but soon leaners why her body is changing.

Will they both fall to temptation and find contentment in each other…

This is my first time reading Caris Roane and I found Embrace the Dark to be an interesting concept. The idea and plot are not bad, but the book was poorly written with some awkward sentences and poor editing in areas. It needed to be longer to get a better feel for the world, supernatural creatures and the battle they are facing. What the author tried to do was paint a vivid picture of the lives of these characters and their worlds with great detail and clarity, but there was just too much story here for the limited amount of words! With all that detail in the begging it's a little slow going. I also never felt the connection/love between the leads Abigail and Gerrod. It was lacking the hot and spicy feel to me.

5 Stars ~ Assassin’s Touch (Iron Portal #1) by Laurie London

Assassin's Touch is book one in the Iron Portal series by Laurie London. This is the first time for me reading anything Laurie London and I enjoyed everything! What a fantastic amazing read! From the first sentence I was pulled in until the very end. I loved everything about this book from two separate worlds waring with each other, to the world building, plot and characters.

A successful mix of hot steamy sex, romance and adventure set in two worlds linked by a portal, one which is modern and the other almost medieval in nature. This book follows the story of Rickert, an Iron Guild Warrior and Neyla, a beautiful woman with a Protection-Talent.

Rickert and Neyla are from two different worlds, but fate has a plan for these two that will change there life and others. These two worked well together. They are brilliantly defined. How fate tells them they are meant to be was wonderful and once they hook up the bedroom gets steamy and hot.The writing is rich, descriptive and flows effortlessly. The plot is refreshing and interesting.

Assassin’s Touch had a great balance of everything that I like to keep me interested. We get Action, Adventure, Heart-Ace, and Romance. I will be checking out more books from this author and recommend this series.

4 Stars ~ Shadow Bound (Shadow #1) by Erin Kellison

This is my first time reading Erin Kellison. Shadow Bound is the first book in her Shadow series. I want to point out that this is no light and fluffy PNR. It’s a slightly darker and edger PNR. I found myself liking it, then having a hard time finishing, then back to I couldn’t put it down. I had such a back and forth; because it's a darker PNR. Not the light and fluffy stuff I enjoy.Shadow Bound gives us Haunting Love, Loss, Sundered Love, Action and Adventure. The ending was superb!

Wow! The world building is exceptional. The fantasy is a darker quality along the lines of gloomy. The author draws us into a world with hopeless situations with just a glimpse of hope here and there to carry use to the next exciting thing. The twists and turns that happen are dramatic.

Erin Kellison put’s here characters through the ringer at almost every turn. The loss that happens in Shadow Bound is heartbreaking. The trills and tribulations Talia and Adam go through are agonizing. The author draws use into there pain and struggles making use feel so much for them and hoping everything works out.

The romance was a little flat between Talia and Adam. Adam is controlling a little to obsessive and Talia comes off fragile, almost needy, and does not seem to stand on her own two feet.

Shadow Bound is an amazing read for fans of the darker PNR. The wording flows, the world building was exceptional, and the characters struggles heart-rending. After reading this book I have to go back to a little light fluffy easy PNR just to clear my mind.

We also get a peak into book 2 Shadow Fall in the Shadow series...

5 Stars ~ Seduce (Vampire Erotic Theartre #3) by Felicity Heaton

Ever since I read the first book Covet by Felicity E. Heaton I was hooked into this series and looked forward to Antonie's story.

Heaton knows how to pull her audience into the Vampire Erotic Theatre world and she knows how to write a sex scene. The smut has a real plot and heart to go with it, which I love.

The interaction between Sear and Antione is sizzling and then freezing! Antione has some issues to work through and Sera is determined to help him through it. I loved how they connected and worked out their issues. There is some very tender and sweet moments along the way.

For Snow fans we get to see and learn more about him and Antione. My heart broke for them both and what has made them the vampire aristocrats that they are today. I can’t wait for Snows story.

Heaton also intradoses us to a couple of new male vamps. Callum and Javier’s brothers will be brought into the theater’s inner workings. I can’t wait to learn and see more of these two.

If you are wanting a hot vampire read you need to check out Seduce and the rest of Vampire Erotic Theatre.

Enjoyed the first story in this collection and is now definitely an author I would like to read. The rest. Gotta admit I was a little lost. I guess it's a case of 'you must have read others by these authors.'

I enjoyed this anthology but some of the stories are part of a series and not really stand alone. For that reason, sometimes it felt like jumping onto a moving train.

Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley. 3 Stars.
In Austin, Texas humans and shapeshifters co exist though the shifters are relegated to various "shifter towns" and treated as second class citizens with extra laws restricting them.

Elizabeth is on store owner who allows shifters to shop in her store. She takes care of her younger sister and is hiding something in her past. She is rescued during an armed robbery by Ronan, a Kodiak bear shifter.

Ronan takes Elizabeth and her sister to Shifter Town to protect them when it becomes apparent there is someone out for revenge against her for testifying against the would-be robber.

There are a lot of secondary characters which sometimes interfered with the flow of the story. I liked Elizabeth and Ronan, who has taken on a role of foster parent to different your bear shifters who have no protection. He's sweet and Elizabeth is nice but scared of her secret coming to light.

Alejandro's Sorceress by Alyssa Day. 3 Stars.
Alejandro is a paranormal-ops cop and Rose Cardinal the earth child of a wacky family of witches.
This is cute and fluffy sort of like cotton candy.

Bewitch by Felicity Heaton. 3 stars
Dark and agnsty. Part of a series so a bit confusing at times.
Panye, an Incubus/Vampire hybrid meets up with Elissa a witch. He is the key to recovering something she values, he wants to use her for revenge.
There is a whole lot of angst and hidden secrets. They sometimes got in the way of the story. Also, while the love scenes were sexy they were sometimes drawn out to the point of me wishing they'd get on with it already.
A lot of "I can't be with her because I'm no good" and "I can't be with him because it's forbidden and the witchy council will vaporize me".
In the end though, I wound up rooting for them.

Darkness Falls by Erin Kellison. 3 1/2 stars.
Smart and sexy with good flow, would have loved a bit more. There is a bit of a cliffhanger involving the h's sister I'm intrigued by but I'm not sure I liked her much.

Not so the H & h. Jordan attends a Reve party with her sister. It's a sort of virtual reality where people interact with one another in dreams. It's seems there is also some government/shady goings on as well.

Like I said, the main characters grabbed me and I would have liked a little more time with them but I enjoyed it.

Rogue's Passion by Laurie London. 3 1/2 stars
What I got for the background is that there is a parallel world called Cascadia and people from that realm are able to cross over into our world. Seems futuristic post war/disaster.

Anybody with a paranormal talent has to be "registered" with the government. Olivia, a healer, trys to keep her abilities to herself. She witnessed her father's murder and brother's abduction at the hands of the army, who profess to be protecting people from the Iron Guild warriors whom they say are a threat. Reality is, it's the army making people disappear.

When she meets Iron Guild warrior Asher, they are drawn together after an explosion. They are sweet together and there is a lot of we're just going to have a week-long affair then part ways.

Very sweet and sexy, would have liked more couple time but liked them both a lot.

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore by Erin Quinn. 3 stars.
Alex, an angel-type whose job is to stop Hell Hounds meets human Lily whose inherited dog has been knocked up by a Hell Hound. Lily actually winds up rescuing Alex.

Quick action romance in a short period of time. Sweet but super quick.

The Mating Heat by Bonnie Vanak. 3 Stars.
Kara and her brother ran away from their pack and their ruthless father who was the Alpha. Ryder, her childhood friend and romance challenged her father and won.

He knows Kara is his mate and he wants her back. But Kara is scarred and ashamed of running away and leaving the others behind and doesn't think it will work.

Sexy and teasing with an HEA.

Trapped by Caris Roane. 2 1/2 - 3 stars.
H is a hot vampire. Sexy but super short and the h annoyed me with her insistence on "rehabilitating" the evil Wraith-pairs.

#1: Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley - 3 stars
I wasn't sure I liked bear shifters but I liked Ronan. He was a big bear with a soft heart. I liked the humor: "Ronan went after her without hesitation. There was nothing better than a cute female with the hottest ass he'd ever seen ordering him around. Behind him he heard Olaf say, a little fearfully, 'Ronan...he will punish Lizbeth?' 'No, sweetie,' Rebecca said. 'But she might punish him.'" I wasn't sure about the world and of the collars the shifters wore, but I liked this story enough to want to read about Sean and Andrea's story.

#2: Alejandro's Sorceress by Alyssa Day - 3 stars
To be quite honest, I wasn't sure whether I liked how comedic and light the writing style was, but I found Granny to be a hoot. I wasn't too sure about the world or about Alejandro, but I ended up liking this story anyway. Not sure if I would continue with the series but it's a possibility.

#3: Bewitch by Felicity Heaton - 3 stars
The femdom scene was wholly unexpected - and hot. It perked up my interest in this story AND the author. But I found that the story lasted a bit too long, and the end was mostly the woman's thoughts and observations with limited talking during sex. I would be interested in following up with this series.

#4: Darkness Falls by Erin Kellison - 2 stars
This story reminded me too much of Inception so it did not feel original to me but rather a fanfiction. Given that the movie left me unsettled, I wasn't thrilled with the comparison. I got bored at one point but I picked it up again and pushed on. I became more involved with the story, and might actually be interested in following up with the series - at least with the original couple.

#5: Rogue's Passion by Laurie London - 2-2.5 stars
The world was a bit confusing with Iron Portals and Iron Guilds. I wasn't a huge fan initially but I did end up liking the two main characters. I thought the submission thing seem out of place, though. I'd be interested in following up with Olivia's brother's story.

#6: The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore by Erin Quinn - 2 stars
I wasn't very interested in the world. Lilly and Alex were okay but have to admit that my favorite part of the story were the dogs and Blue Eyes.

#7: The Mating Heat by Bonnie Vanak - 1.5 stars
Wasn't a fan. Didn't care for either Kara or Ryder, and it was kind of hard to believe in a HEA for them, especially with a particular scene where Kara talks of wanting happiness and Ryder promises her great sex in return. Um...right. The two are not necessarily the same thing! I am tired of werewolves/shifters, which is funny since it's been a while since I've read about them. I was frustrated about the world-building. There was nothing intrinsic about the characters that made them werewolves/shifters, and the whole alpha/omega hierarchy and how each are chosen sounded bogus to me. I likely won't be following this series.

#8: Trapped by Caris Roane - 1.5-2 stars
I was done with paranormals by this story. I took at least a week off in the middle of this story because I couldn't bear to pick it up again. I did pick it up but with a lack of enthusiasm. I was tired of the argument between the two regarding kill vs rehabilitating the wraith pairs. I didn't care about the world; I found it confusing. And the blood rose thing? Just another word for soulmate. The only intriguing part of the blood rose was that they would be compelled to serve ANY "mastyr" vampire (and let me just say that I rolled my eyes at that spelling of master). This intrigued me enough to seek out the story in the excerpt because I wanted to see this in play - and I liked that story better. Otherwise, not really a series I am very interested in following.

Overall, this bundle introduced me to a bunch of new authors I may end up reading more of.

As I have mentioned before, I digging into my archives. This one isn't too bad, only a couple of years old and most of these stories have been release individually by the authors. But really, why buy more books when I have this?

However, I found after reading the first story - Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley (4 stars) - that this collection can very well lead you to buying more books. This was in the Shifter's Unbound series, book #2.5. Although this can stand alone, I fell in love with this world and found myself putting this collection down, searching out the first books of the Shifter's Unbound series and reading them. Still love this world.

I am just now getting back to this collection and it may still be a long time before I finish it. Collections often go that way. We find new authors and/or new series and off we go.

The second book of this collection is Alejando's Sorceress by Alyssa Day (4 stars). I found that this too was series related. It is the first book in the Cardinal Witches series. These are some wacky ladies, I have to tell you. I loved them and wouldn't mind reading about the rest of them. However, This story also brings in characters from the Warriors of Poseidon series. I haven't read this either, but they sound like they would be fun too. More books for the to be read list. *sigh*

I have managed to wade through Bewitch by Felicity Heaton. (3 stars) There were some moments I didn't know if I would make it through. I kept finding odd jobs that just had to get done - now. I liked the world, but the characters . . . not so much. I don't think I will have to worry about my book budget with this one.

I read Darkness Falls by Erin Kellison (3.5 stars) back in December of 2014 when it came out as a single. Check out that review on Goodreads.

Rogue's Passion by Laurie London (3.5 stars) is book 2 of the Iron Portal series. Although I don't think I have read the first book, this still read well as a stand along story. Now, let me qualify that "I don't think" remark. The characters do not sound familiar, nor entirely the world. However, there were aspects of this story that did ring a bell. I mostly enjoyed the read. It didn't keep me hostage, but I did keep coming back. It was enjoyable enough that I wouldn't mind reading more of this series.

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore (Beyond #1.5) by Erin Quinn (5 stars) read well as a stand alone and was a delightful surprise. In spite of the dark creatures of this story, the epic romance spanned realms. It touched me deeply. I will have to check out the rest of the series.

The Mating Heat (Werewolves of Montana #0.5) by Bonnie Vanak (4 stars) is a nicely done prequel. Introduces characters and sets up the world, while at the same time reigniting an unending love. It had it's sweet moments mixed with some nice action. This looks like series to follow.

Trapped (Blood Rose Tales #1) by Caris Roane (4 stars) - Hmmmm . . . Vampires at their best? This had some interesting twists going on. Good thing I already have the next two books in my TBR mountain. They should be worth the read.

Overall was a nice collection of enjoyable stories that introduced me to some new authors as well as great stories. Well worth the money I paid for it - which was probably only a buck. For that kind of money why would one want to pass up the bargain even if it does take a couple years to get it read?

When offered the opportunity read and review this eight book box set it was a bit daunting, so I decided that rather than eating the entire desert buffet in one sitting, I would start off with a couple of new treats to satisfy that reading sweet tooth. Being familiar with several of the authors' works offered up in this bundle it was my choice to go for the unfamiliar and try out some new treats. I was certainly not disappointed and must say the two I have read so far alone are more than worth the price of a first class ticket.

The first read was Bodyguard (Shifters Unbound #2.5) by Jennifer Ashley and who would have thought a Kodiak bear would be the shifter of my dreams. The story takes place in a society where shifters have been outed to the mundane world and forced to live in communities segregated from the human population. Significant prejudice exists with little to no rights afforded the shifters. Elizabeth runs a small store on the edge of town and unlike other establishments she does not refuse to serve the shifter population. When the baddies attack her, Ronan shifts and saves her life and is arrested. Elizabeth stands up for him and testifies and we are off on a great adventure.

The story is very well written and full of wonderful world building and characters that will steal your heart leaving you begging for more. Of course there is intrigue and showdowns, as well as some wonderfully sensual tasteful smexy going on.

This is one series I fully intend to keep my eye on and go back for seconds and hopefully thirds or more.

The second read was Alejandro's Sorceress by Alyssa Day. This was a wonderfully uproarious tale of magic and fun with great characters you wish were your neighbors just so you could peak over the fence and watch. Alejandro is a tough as nails P-Ops agent and about as cynical as they come. He and his partner are dispatched to deal with a complaint of garden pests and when they arrive they meet Rose, a garden witch who would rather deal with the pests on her own without the bureaucratic bother the P-Ops crew brings into the mix. Alejandro's partner is turned to stone by the pests and magical mayhem ensues with sparks flying between Rose and Alejandro, interfering family members, brownies, pixies, trolls and more thrown into the mix.

The world building was delightful and writing very well executed leaving me laughing and occasionally shedding a tear. The smexy was swoon-worthy, very tasteful, and sensually written. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of this author's work and certainly hope there will be more from The Cardinal Witches to come.

Overall I have to say that even if you read only the first two of the books in this wonderful set it is well worth the price of admission and I fully intend to continue the journey through the next six books with high hopes. This is definitely a recommended read for paranormal romance fans with a taste for shifters, vampires, magic and more, which also offers sensual smexy, and a host of fun stories. I received this book with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.

Book 1
Hard Mated by Jennifer Ashley. 4 Stars
Spike and Myka, wonderful characters, loved them both.
Spike, an enforcer/soldier in Shiftertown finds out he has a son from a one night stand with a human. The mother of his child is dying and sends her friend Myka to get Spike, knowing he'll be better off with other shifters.
Spike is pretty much perfect, wants his boy immediately. Myka, isn't too sure about this guy but honors her friends request. She's going to stick around though to be sure the child is ok.
What can I say, they fall for each other of course but Myka is a truly great heroine. I love how she stands up for Spike! They are pure magic together.

Book 2
The Mating Hunt by Bonnie Vanak. DNF
While I liked Mating Heat in the Dark and Deadly: Eight Bad Boys of Paranormal anthology, I just couldn't get into this.
The h was TSTL and I was embarrassed by her behavior so I stopped. Sorry.

Book 3
Embrace the Dark by Caris Roane. 3 1/2 Stars
This story contains a complex world where human and paranormal live amongst each other.
Gerrod, a mastyr vampire wants human Abigail but he's dedicated to the leadership and protection of he "Realm" of earth he is in charge of and takes his responsibilities seriously. She thinks he hates her when he's really just fighting his attraction (a bit of P & P Darcy & Elizabeth, I'm on board with that).
In the midst of this complicated but intriguing story, these two and their love touched me. Like it a lot.

Book 4
Assasin's Touch by Laurie London. 3 stars
Another entry from the Cascadian/Pacifican Iron Portal series.
I've previously read a subsequent book in the series in a different anthology.
Very sweet, I was a bit surprised. A story of enemy to lovers. Like it.

Book 5
Shadow Bound by Erin Kellison 3 1/2 stars

This was more like a novel. Great concept the storytelling and imagination was wonderful.

There is so much going on here. A prologue in which a dying woman has an encounter with a man/creature of the shadows (death or a reaper perhaps?).

I was a bit frustrated by how long the author took to get to the romantic part, though as I said, the story was very good. Just needed more romance build-up.

Book 6
Seduce by Felicity Heaton. 4 stars
Oh my unbelievable hotness. I'm still fanning myself. Sera and Antoine and the Vampire Erotique theatre.

At first I wasn't sure if I'd like it. I'd read "Bewitch" a subsequent story in the series prevously in the Dark and Deady anthology. It was good but frustrating with the round about way the story and characters unfolded.

Not so here, it is so much about the main characters and still the secondary characters have good substance.

Really liked it and the love scenes were off the charts.

DARK AND DANGEROUS is a collection of novels by six different authors. I give the collection a 4 in total. Below are the individual reviews.

HARD MATED (Jennifer Ashley): This is a novella in Ashley 's Shifters Unbound Series. It is the story of Spike, a wildcat Shifter who finds out that he has a cub. The woman who brings him the news is a friend of the mother, Myka. As Shifters do, Spike immediately becomes attached to the cub and wants to do nothing but protect him. Myka and Spike have great chemistry. I enjoyed the story very much. My favorite of the collection. Rating 4.

THE MATING HUNT (Bonnie Vanak) This is the story of Adianna, a werewolf, who was traumatised as a child and is terrified of sex. Kyle has wanted Adrianna for a long time but has a secret that he believes will make them being together impossible. I really liked this story. I have never read this author or series before, but am interested in reading more. Rating 4.

EMBRACE THE DARK (Caris Roane): This is the story Abigail who finds out she is a blood rose, destined to service a vampire. She meets Gerrod who is obsessed with her. The plot of this one was interesting, but I never felt a connection with the characters. Rating 3.

ASSASSIN'S TOUCH (Laurie London): A woman, Neyla, discovers she has latent para-abilities and meets Rickety, an assassin determined to protect the Iron Portal into his world. I never got into this one. The story has a good plot, but the characters did not appeal to me. Rating 3.

SHADOW BOUND (Erin Kellison): This is the story of Adam and Talia. The book is really dark and not to my liking. That is just taste. It seemed really well created, but not what I look for in this type of book. Rating 3.5.

SEDUCE (Felicity Heaton): This is the third book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series). I've never read this author before, but based in this book I picked up some other books on the series. It is a vampire story about Antoine, a vampire, who fears the Bloodlust coming over him as it has done with his brother. He meets Sara who becomes determined to have him. The sexual tension in this book is great. There are memorable characters especially Snow. I immediately had to read more. Rating 4.

This e-book actually contains 8 full stories and teaser extracts by the authors to promote their other novels. If you like a range of paranormal stories with strong, male roles and some feisty females most of these stories will appeal to you. There are some definitely different scenarios in these stories, starting with Bodyguard by Jennifer Ashley where shape shifters have been 'outed' and now live in segregated communities and racial prejudice is rampant. The characters are developed well in an empathetic manner - you can really relate to them and I look forward to reading about more of them in future. This was probably my favourite story in the box set which also contains stories concerning a range of paranormal romantic encounters.

In Alejandro's Sorceress a vampire warrior and green witch have hilarious encounters, especially those involving her crazy family, as their relationship develops. Really relaxing, enjoyable read which had me laughing all the way through. Highly recommended!

Bewitch by Felicity Heaton includes a vampire who calls himself Payne because he believes he brings nothing but pain to the world and a fae witch. The two are strong but vulnerable and this is the tale of how their relationship develops despite themselves.

Darkness Falls by Erin Kellison is definitely something different as it explores a new phenomena in which people are able to share dreams, interacting with others also present in the same dreamscape . . . . and how criminal elements use this for their own benefit. A decidedly unusual scenario and one open to many more adventures in future!

Rogue's Passion by Laurie London involves the Iron Warriors from an alternative world, one of whom is seeking to revenge the death of a fellow warrior, and how he encounters a woman who is a healer talent, their initial encounters and attempts to avoid the Fixer make this a fast paced adventure and pleasure to read. Again, I'll be looking for other stories in this series!

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore by Erin Quinn involves a strong male from an alternative world, hell hounds, a feisty female who saves his life and more will be revealed as I get further on with the story!

I really just got this collection to read two books in it.

1- ALEJANDRO’S SORCERESS by Alyssa Day
He’s a warrior, hardened by years of protecting his town from vampire attack. She’s a garden witch who sees the world in shades of sunshine and delight. Opposites don’t only attract, they go supernova in this sizzling tale of magic and mayhem.
This was a really nice light read. I enjoyed this one a lot.
2-THE FORBIDDEN LIFE OF ALEX MOORE by Erin Quinn
Alex’s mission: Kill the hellhounds that have invaded earth and return to his home in the Beyond. But from the start, things go horribly wrong. The hounds are cunning and a human female witnesses their attack—she intervenes and saves Alex’s life. Now he must keep the alluring Lilly alive while fighting his desire for her. When passion flares, Alex risks all to protect her and defend the forbidden life he craves.
I haven't read any of the other books pertaining to this series and it did make things a little confusing for me but overall I did enjoy the story and both H/h.
3- Trapped by Caris Roane
Mastyr Vampire Zephyr, a one-man fighting force, struggles to save the life of a woman who despises his warrior ways. She’s been a thorn in his side, but he has one goal: to keep her safe. For Alesia, however, she just wishes he’d leave her alone since she can never approve of his profession. She broke up with him months ago and wants to start a new life. The trouble is, he’s still the one man who can curl her toes.
Enjoyed this story. Different world very interesting take. A lot of misunderstanding could of been avoided if Alesia would of open up and talked with Zephyr, he might be a vampire but he is no mind reader, but if she had then we would not of had this nice story to read.

Well there is the Good, the Bad, and the Oh-My-GOD-What-Were-They-Thinking in this set. I rated and commented on all 8 books. Stuff with 4-5 stars I would definitely read, the rest I leave up to your own discretion...

Bodyguard - 3 stars
It was Meah. It had it's good parts like the fight and it had some really bad parts like how the shifters were treated. I mean COME ON, there is no way in this day and age that the US would treat people like that. And because of that this story was mostly just so-so at best.

Alejandro's Sorceress - 4 stars
Now that was muuuuch better. It was witty and I giggled and laughed out loud several times.

Bewitched - 5 stars
Now THAT is what I was looking for! Well written, sexy, hardship, pain, and love that concurs all.

Darkness Falls - 4 stars
Started out slow and slightly muddled. But then it got GOOD. I was thoroughly sucked into the story and theeeeen, it stops! WTF! Grrrr! Now I have to go find book 2. 1-Click, here I come...

Rogue's Passion - 5 stars
That one I truly got sucked into and loved.

The Forbidden Life of Alex Moore - 3 3/4 stars
It was good but not quite a 4 star book.

Mating Heat - 3 stars
God that was corny. I'm all for ronchy, strait forward guys but that was just cheesy bad.

Trapped - maaaaybe 2 stars at best
Some things just can't be unread...I could have lived happily never knowing this existed, it was that bad. In fact I didn't even finish reading it. It's suppose to be about a vampire but he has all these really weird powers. And all they do is circle around and around about how his job is "evil". My brain hurts now...
