A hilarious slice-of-life rom-com about one high school's gorgeous power couple and the romance otaku who stan them!

Self-professed otaku Wataru Otonari means to admire his favorite classmate couple—the beautiful Yuzuru Kakoi and cool Chihiro Kawai—only from afar, and nothing more! And yet somehow he's managed to become their...friend? He's living the dream! Will their newly budding relationship reveal some lore only the power of friendship can unlock?

Suddenly two other otaku arrive on the scene, with some very unique takes on Wataru's faves—that definitely clash with his! Can he not be allowed to stan in peace?

The silliness gears up a notch here. Otonari, the otaku who ships his classmates, has somehow become friends with the pair he ships along with his fellow shipper, Tomaki, the girl who has crush on him. He definitely can't take it cool. But it turns out, having them as friends means a lot to Yuzuru Kakoi too, the girl in their ship, as she doesn't have all that many friends. The mutual happiness and sweetness is overwhelming.

But without them noticing, Otonari and Tomaki have become objects of their classmates' ship too. Tomaki does have feelings for Otonari, but he's completely oblivious. However, they are happy to ship the people secretly shipping them, as they would make a perfect couple too.

That's pretty much the content of the story, people getting excited over other people's real or imaginary coupleships. Art is lovely and over-the-top cute, and the stories have no drama, so it's easy to read a chapter or two for low-level entertainment.

For some reason I didn’t really connect with the first volume but I had a really good time with this one! I don’t know if it was just the added dynamic from the new characters (who I liked) or I was more used to the silliness or what but contrary to my original expectation, I will be picking up the third volume.

This was cute! I feel like it's definitely better than vol 1 too, I enjoyed the characters they added and the fact that their relationships with each other and the characters became a bit deeper. Looking forward to vol 3!

Nonsensical fluff, but SO entertaining and the art is gorgeous. I'm not sure if I'll continue the series because there isn't enough to the plot to draw me in, but the concept is fun, and the characters are engaging.

UGH I LOVE THE THREE COUPLES SO MUCH. Listening to "High School in Jakarta" by NIKI while reading this is the highest bliss I've ever been through this February (iykyk)
