Chloe Mayfield is a career cop, but when a high-profile bust goes spectacularly wrong, she finds herself assigned to the losers in Blue Moon …

… and discovers a world she never knew existed.

Tasked to investigate a drowning far from water in a high-rise building, the symbol carved into the victim’s chest defies explanation. Until she begins to pry, and a coven of witches show up with a threat to stay out of their business.

With a wise-cracking dwarf and a senior-citizen claiming to be a descendent of Joan of Arc at her side, she’ll need to uncover the truth and stop the killer. And she’d better do it soon, because the tides are rising, and one single misstep is all it will take to leave the city, not to mention her career, in ruins.

Get ready for high-stakes supernatural action.

Drowned Harbor
by Justin Herzog, Steve Higgs
I've read some of Higgs' other series of his Blue Moon Investigations and really enjoyed them. This book was on sale so win-win for me!
This has a variety of characters that keep it interesting, a good plot, crazy situations, and the most importantly, scattered humor! Can't go wrong with the Blue Moon.

Just horrible audio book.

The AI reading this is God awful. I gave it 30 minutes and gave up. There are self published authors who read their own books that are 5 times better than this AI

Blue moon still rocks!

Justin Herzog and Steve Higgs have written this series with great characters and non-stop paranormal mysteries. As long as Blue Moon Investigations continues, they have an avid reader!

The characters were great

A working knowledge of BostonWould have helped this author a lot, even a map or a guide book. The book it self is good, but every time the author made a mistake about about Boston I had to put the book down.

After being “reassigned” to a department with two - now three - staff, police officer Chloe Mayfield is in for a reality shock.

“You’re telling me the Boston Police department has an entire division dedicated to investigating ghosts, boogie-monsters and little green men?”

She’s supposed to find proof that things that go bump in the night are just humans. But a brutal murder leads her into a world of Cthulhu-like monsters, cult members, witches, and ancient humans.

This story takes us on a wild journey through Boston, which was super fun for me since I live in Massachusetts. I had a lot of “I know that place” moments. We meet amazing characters, like the owner of Blind Owl Books, and Big Ben, a hunk of a man that I hope we see more of in later books. We explore the lowest of the low and the highest of the high societies, ranging from paid women to business owners and multi-millionaires. And oh yeah we (okay, Chloe) solve a murder on the way. I did not see anything about the ending coming!

Overall, LOVED this so much!

Drowned Harbor by Justin Herzog and Steve Higgs is the first book in a new series based on Blue Moon Investigations in Boston. The group is at a special offsite location where they get the odd cases. For example, a man is killed with a strange paralyzing substance. No one believes it is done by monsters but it is an unusual way to murder someone so the Blue Moon group get the case. The story is fast and interesting. There is a connection between the head of the Boston group and the Blue Moon group in England so all of the books already available about the England group written by Steve Higgs will fit right in. If you have not read Steve Higgs, do yourself a favor and read every book he has written, they are excellent. This is my first book by Justin Herzog but I plan to continue with this series and try another of his books. It is always fun to have a new author.

Drowned Harbor-Blue Moon Boston-Book 1 by Justin Herzog is an awesome start to this new Blue Moon series in Boston. In this story, Blue Moon is a division of the Boston Police Department and is aligned with Tempest Michael’s Paranormal Investigation business in England.
John Kermit is in charge, is originally from England, and has connections with Tempest Michael’s organization. Chloe Mayfield, a police sergeant, joins the division and the action starts.
Since this story takes place in Boston, it follows that this first story involves a coven of witches. What could be more iconic?
This is a different, and fun, story that you will enjoy.

Drowned Harbor Review
Awesome read! What a great start to a new series , brilliant setup , cameos from a few familiar characters. Lots packed in , a fast paced ride along adventure . Well written , very good plots and the right blend of Blue Moon under an independent branch umbrella. There’s lots to look forward to in the future , I’m certainly invested 100% to this as a firm favourite already .A veritable masterpiece, a joy for anyone that enjoys the Bluemoon series.
I read an advance copy of this book and my review is my own words voluntary

I borrowed this book because there was a plug saying it would make me laugh more than Stephanie Plum in the Janet Evonovich novels. I made it 25% through the book without even a smirk. Maybe I would have gotten into this if I hadn't been looking for the light hearted snarky hilarity of the Stephanie Plum character. I won't give it less than 3 stars though since I didn't finish it. I just wanted to warn other Stephanie Plum fans that you will be hugely disappointed if you read this for that reason.

How on earth does a man drown when there's no water anywhere???
This story takes the detectives in the Paranormal Division on a hair-raising journey as they try to unravel one of the most unusual murders they've come across. With the celebration of the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party just days away, can the team crack the case in time to enjoy the festivities? They will give it their absolute best efforts, even if it kills them. Well written story and highly entertaining.

Blue Moon Boston a hit

I really love this version of the Blue Moon investigations. New characters and new locations. I look forward to reading how these new people develop their personalities. Being a former female police officer myself I loved seeing a strong smart personality.I do enjoy the author doesn’t make the women simpering idiots and the men Neanderthals. I love the friendships.
I look forward to reading more of all the Blue Moon investigations books.

Not as expected

I have enjoyed Steve's books and the main reason was they did not have a lot sexual content or vulgar language. The Boston series is not good prose for those of us who are Christian. I have always read his first series with pleasure and recommend them to fellow readers. I was not appreciating this book at all. There was no actual sex but implied almost through out.. I may not decide to give the second of this series.

Good suspense

Interesting characters. No over the top violence. Lots of logic applied, which results in reasonable explanations. Chloe fits right in with Blue Moon squad. Kermit while unusual in his own right, the perfect leader for Blue Moon team. Just enough sophistication and polish to raise the bar for the police. A great counter to Chloe.

Great spin off of the OG Blue Moon series

This was an enjoyable read and is much better than the Appalachia Blue Moon books. The characters were more developed and fleshed out and the story line more coherent.

Great new crew

The Boston branch is a little different...the members are cops. Of course, there is a bit of an X-Files vibe since the Blue Moon Division is...unusual. Great characters, lots of action and a twisted plot make this an enjoyable read.

I’m in love, with all Steve Higgs book series, so was pleased with the spin-off of blue moon Boston, Justin you did a great job writing the First Boston book. I Like Chloe, she believable gutsy and tough. Kermit, great partner for Chloe. And I like how you brought Frank into the series. Good read.

Fast paced non stop reading

I've visited Boston, and it is a very nice city. Narrow streets and many buildings lining then. Not a place for modern fast cars car chases. Good story and well written.

I enjoyed this book, but it did not have enough of the fantasy element I prefer in stories. There are great characters and the writing was very good, just not for me. The book has more of a mystery vibe than urban fantasy. I doubt I will continue with the rest of the series.

Very disappointed in this paranormal detective first offering. One would think that someone trained to fight wouldn't continually get ambushed, beat up, slashed and generally manhandled. Having Ben make a cameo appearance seemed gratuitous and considering his skills, unnecessary.

This It's a hard one to review for me. I enjoyed the mystery / case of the story I thought it was really well thought out and planned. However, I found myself not really invested because I didn't feel close enough to the characters They weren't well defined. Most of the side characters felt flat.

I’d read that this was a humorous book much like evanovich. Wrong. Although it has a quirky character in Chloe and those around her I barely cracked a smile. Stephanie Plum makes me laugh out loud. I finished it but I’m not sure why.
