Rivulet was an absolute pleasure to read and I totally got sucked into life at Falcon Manor.
The synopsis is spot on in the description of this wonderful story as we join Indie, her sister Cadence & almost boyfriends Mason, Gavin and Wilder on their journey to enlightenment, battling the gold digging Aunt for Falcon Manor & working out all that is Indie along the way. I really liked Indie’s character and thought that

Um, it's Jamie Magee. What else is there to say? The girl can write a beautiful, lyrical book. Toss in one of her guys and you've got a good read.

An interesting book!

This book features Genevieve Indiana Falcon (aka Indie), the adopted daughter of the famous Falcon family. However, in an accident gone wrong, she loses her family and gains an enemy determined to take everything Indie has an inheritance to, trying to drive her out of her own house. It isn't until another accident throws Indie and her friends in a state of deathlike limbo that she's able to slowly piece together exactly who--and what--she's fight against, and the reason behin

Really interesting and captivating story.

The Writing:
I really liked it. It made me be into the book and being interested from the first moment. Its all from one POV, from Indie's POV. Maybe I would like to read others POV (Phoenix,Mason or Gavin) but as a short story. I think it would be confusing to read it in the 'main' book.

The Story:
It was a really interesting story form the beginning. The Falcon family taking care of children who had no family was such a sweet and amazing thing. Then, Indie

This is my first Jamie Magee book and I truly enjoyed it.  It is apparently a tie-in to the Insight series, which I am now going to have to check out!

The characters in this story are very well-developed.  There were times when I was so engrossed that I forgot reality!  She creates such real characters that I, as a reader, felt their emotions, their motivations, their thoughts.  I had perfect mental images of each and every one of them.  Protagonists or antagonist, there was an air of believabili

I was given this early to read and review, and it was so hard to create something without giving too much plot away. This book is an amazing addition to Jamie's series already, or it is amazing as a stand alone book. The characters are believable; you feel as if you are in their group of friends, and the setting is detailed enough where you can picture it without any problems. Hold on tight with this one. Lots of twists and turns where you think you know what's going to happen next, but you don ...more

Fascinating read. Complex world and a bit of a muddled narrative, I found myself confused and lost at some points. The detail can be hard to grasp but the premise and story arc are just so wonderful. Magee really makes the reader work for it and it pays off.

Rivulet by Jamie Magee, todays review, was provided to me through none other than NetGalley, of course, and Alvasia Publishing. Now when I saw this book the cover caught my eye. The first thing I did was check if it was in a series and if it was book one. I’ve requested books realizing after getting them they are like book three or four which does me no good until I’m caught up. Here is the semi-confusing part, Rivulet is book one in the self-titled serie

Rivulet is a beautifully written, well packed with imagery book that I could not put down. The plot is captivating and thorough, and the characters are strong and extremely believable.

Indie, the main character, is a very special girl. She is strong and witty, and she can also turn anything into ice through her mind. Sounds a bit like Frozen, but I promise you that other than the turning anything into ice part, nothing else is

I was really looking forward to reading this book when I received it. Young Adult Fantasy? Right up my alley.I have been introducing myself to the world of fantasy lately and have been enjoying it for the most part.
I am sorry to say this wasn’t one of my favorites, and has become the second book in my “Life is too short to read books you don’t want to read” new life.
At the beginning of the book, I found the story line to be confusing and hard to follow. You are introduced to a lot of characters

I was honored to be offered a copy of this book to review. I had heard some very good things about this author, so of course I had to jump right in. This is a-pun intended- riveting story. It’s an easy read because the writing is well done, and most people will connect with the characters easily. Plus, I think a lot of people will like it if they’ve read anything by this author previously, though I haven’t, YET!

So the story starts with Indie, having a terrible dream, and when she wakes, you lear

I have read a previous work by Jamie Magee, Edge, and really loved it so I was excited to get to read something else from this author. The style of this book was similar to Edge in that it was paranormal, but took it to the extra level. This novel though was so much more confusing to me than her other work. That's not to say I didn't like it. I did. It was just very confusing at times.

I think some of my issues were just that some things seemed to move very quickly and I kept having to re-read pa

This is a deep very deep story . Book 1 by the author . It's a paranormal one .
There are many layers to the story .
This story is about Indie.
Indie knows she was adopted . Indies life is always Cold . Indie lost her adopted family while they sank on a boat. Only she and an adopted sister survived . She can never get warm . And she dreams while she is awake . Little does she know that those dreams is evil coming after her . She suspects her aunt is trying to drive her crazy so she can take the

There was so much that could have gone wrong with Rivulet. The nature of the story in itself is very confusing (though I realise that it might have been more so for me, because this was my introduction to the Web of Hearts and Souls books), and that could have easily made it too convoluted and difficult for the reader to follow.
Luckily, Indie was a superb narrator (though she does take 'unreliable' to the next level), and kept me hooked throughout. I wanted - nay, needed - to know how her story

I had simply forgotten how much I enjoyed Ms. Magee and her books.
I had read Insight series. Loved it, I have no excuse!
This book was no exception.
Her writing style and development are amazing. She draws in and you uncover what you need piece by piece.
She captured each nuance and simply built the perfect foundation for the story.
The story has so many wonderful and creative characters - you are transported into the world she has written page after page.

Firstly I would like to thank the author & NetGalley for kindly providing me with a copy of Rivulet to read and review.

I would love to read ALL the Web of Hearts & Souls series to see the bigger picture, this one is just a fragment although it can be read as part of the Rivulet series. I must say I have started and read Insight already :)

I loved Indie - she is dealing with this out-of-this-world icy gift that she doesn't understand fully yet, she does had her ways and trinkets to t

Review of Rivulet by Jamie Magee

I was honored to receive an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. I really love Jamie's main characters in this book. Her character development of all characters is phenomenal. I appreciated every character's motivations and I could picture them in my mind with great detail. Jamie is able to create a passion between important characters that is rare. The passion is a main component of what keeps the reader from wanting to put the book down. The characte

This book was one hell of a roller coaster. At first everything seemed off, the emotion, the places, the passing of time. You get totally thrown in the action and somehow remain there. There was a lot happening and a lot of details changing. This book is definitely plot based and the plot is really complex. It was a nice exercise to read it, I really enjoyed following Indie through her journey of life and death.
I think it was just brilliant. I have trouble to actually explain what I liked about

Loved the characters, loved the story line, loved the writing - character development, plot, etc... just LOVED!

If you have read the Insight and See series, then you will especially appreciate Rivulet (and, if you haven't read them, why not!? You're missing out!) It was great to be able to see this background story about Phoenix, his lost/found love, and Skylynn plus some new and interesting characters added to the mix in this one. I can’t wait to see Indie mix with the Insight crew, especially Willow.
They were friends once and I can’t wait to see what adding the Falcon’s into the mix will bring.

There were so many twists and turns to this story you never knew what to expect. Jamie Magee slowly revealed to you what she wanted you to know. She didn’t just dump everything on you at once. She slowly peels back the layers. Once you think that you understand something, BOOM

I got this in the Dangerous Lovers box set. I loved Ms. Magee's first book "Insight" so I was exited to see this one in the box set. Unfortunately I didn't like it as much as I liked "Insight". I'm not sure what happened, but I just couldn't connect with the characters as much as I did in the first book. Throughout most of the book it felt like I was trying to enter a world that was just out of my reach. Instead of turning corners of the new world I was immersed in, I could feel myself forced ou ...more
I didn't like this book so much. The idea of the story was good but I think it was a little chaotic. it was hard to follow everything that was happening. I liked India personality, she is strong, independent and above all loyal and I loved the relationship among her, Gavin and Mason. It's like they know each other better than they know theirselves and that are willing to do anything to protect the ones that love. I didn't like the character of Phoenix. he was to passive, it didn't look like he f ...more

Bold and intense first scene gets this thriller off to a good start

Magee gets the action underway right off the bat in this thriller. Forcing readers to experience an emergency situation with her characters in the first page, she brings us into an intimacy with them. As we follow Indie, the main character, as she struggles for breath in icy water while trying to save her loved ones, we start rooting for her, willing her to survive, and this is a crucial ingredient for a fantasy thriller series t

Wow! Simply amazing!! I love Indie - she is dealing with this insane, icy gift that she doesn't understand, but she finds ways to handle it and is able to get on with her life. Plus she has some great friends that stand by her no matter what. Then there's the appearance of this mysterious boy that Indie is immediately drawn to. He is hotter-than-hot and makes Indie see things in a whole new way. Suddenly her whole world gets turned upside and she has to make some devastating decisions. She has v ...more

I was ecstatic to find out that this series ties in with insight series as it gives a lot more information on the beginnings of everything. Reading this book was similar to having a dream.

It wasn't bad per se, but I felt like I never really completely understood or followed what was going on, the story didn't flow very well, and I experienced the whole thing with a sense of detached semi-interest.(it took me multiple tries to finish)
Then when I finished or 'woke up' I lost all interest in the world I had just been exposed to, forgot the majority, and went on with my day w
