Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews: “I’m Getting Married to Mothman” by Paige Lavoie
Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.
Once upon a time, Heather, a former influencer who escaped to a cabin in the woods to cope with burnout, met her Mothman boyfriend, Moth, and fell in love. The two lovers were then whisked away to the fantasy kingdom of Eclipsa, where Moth rediscovers his family and proposes to Heather. Now, just days away from their wedding, Heather couldn’t be happier about the thought of spending the rest of her life with her cryptid husband-to-be. But when Magnus, ruler of the Kingdom of Vampires, kidnaps the bride in an attempt to make her his own, Moth sets off on a rescue mission, and it’s up to Heather to use her wits to escape the clutches of the vampire king!
From the author of “I’m in Love with Mothman” and "I'm Engaged to Mothman”, this third installment in the “Mothman in Love” series ties everything together in a fun, whimsical package. Mrs. Lavoie’s world-building further expands her concept of Faerie lore with the ingenious spin of insect-like elements, while also delivering a nostalgic and powerful plot loosely reminiscent of the Don Bluth classic film “Thumbelina”. The main characters, along with returning favorites, continue to shine with strong character arcs. Heather experiences the most rewarding development, evolving throughout the series from someone who felt pulled in every direction by her peers to a character who fights back, takes control of her story, and unapologetically emphasizes her boundaries. Moth, as the love interest, remains the sweet, protective, and supportive cinnamon roll he is, while Magnus, as the antagonist, offers a unique opposition to Moth’s personality. His antics and misguided behavior serve as parody commentary on some of the Faerie princes in popular Fantasy Romance novels. Ready to attend the wedding of Heather and Moth? Don’t miss out on this book when it hits online shelves on December 7, 2024!
