4 star Review The Last Bride (DiCarlo Brides #6) by Heather Tullis

AUDIO REVIEW:

I have enjoyed getting to know these sisters and the men who they have fallen in love with. I am sad that this is the final book in the series.

Gage knew that he had been marked as husband material for Jonquil, the youngest sister but he was not interested. Jonquil had no idea and when she finds out, she is excited by the idea. Having watched all her sisters fall in love, she too wants it all.

Sadly, Gage does not appear to be on board and outside forces are keeping them apart. Jonquil feels she is not good enough or smart enough and in her eyes doesn’t measure up to her sisters. What she doesn’t realize is that he has feelings for her but Gage feels the time is not right.

Can Gage and Jonquil finally be on the same page and find love or are they destined to be alone?

The narrator has been consistent throughout and this made listening enjoyable.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE AUTHOR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

It had been several months since I read a DiCarlo Brides book, but I really felt like I was coming back to a familiar and beloved series when I picked up this "final" book!

I didn't remember Jonquil much from the previous books, but she seemed like a quiet heroine. I liked her learning disability "flaw", even though I didn't like how she hid it and didn't discuss it until the end of the book. I think things would have been more interesting if the disability would have been discussed throughout the book.

I liked Gage overall, but in a "meh" sort of way. I get that he didn't want to be manipulated, and I even get why he didn't want to be, but in my eyes, he took it way too far! It was difficult for me to believe in him as a hero, until the suspense plot kicked in, at which point I was a big fan of his!

The best part of this book by far is the suspense plot! Everything seemed to be disconnected, until the end of the book where it all gels together! I was quite surprised at some of the twists included in the story!

While this is the final DiCarlo sister, this book introduces the heroine in the final book in the series, Jonquil's Half-Sister Angela. This introduction was not a good one for me. I thought her to be a spoiled, selfish brat and only out to hurt Jonquil in any way she could. I hope she does some maturing before the next book!

There is a lot going on here. Seriously, tons of things, almost too much. We have the regular issues with the romance, him fighting being matched and her attracted but not knowing why he is gun shy, same as the last book. That pretty much resolves itself on its own, with a few nudges from their friends.

Both of them have family issues going on, both with a younger sibling and a parent's health. I found both younger sisters unlike-able. Neither one of them appealed or felt like they belonged in the same family. Both were bratty and spoiled. I also felt Jonquil was disconnected from her Philly family.

Add on top of everything, Gage is having troubles at his resort. A pushing guy trying to get him to sell, loads of sudden repairs and his sister needing money for her gambling debts. Then things go down with the debts and his sister, so convoluted. The part with his mom could have been more detailed too. We didn't get much time to know her and decide about her personality.

Jonquil is a happy go lucky kind of gal who just wants to take care of people and flowers. She is a nature girl and loves hiking and sports. She is a perfect match for Gage, once he gets over himself.

This is a sweet romance, meaning closed bedroom door. Plenty of kissing and they do sleep together, but no details. Not sure the Christian Romance readers will be okay with the premarital sex. It is fairly clean though and rather fluffy.

All the drama in the story detracts from the romance. It is far more complicated than it needs to be and so busy. Personally, all that crazy family stuff drags down a full romance. They have a witty banter and great dynamic.

The narrative is split between the two leads. This really helps put you into their heads and get a fuller story. I prefer this for my romances because I love knowing both sides of the story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Valerie Gilbert, who is one of my favorites. I love her smooth tones and the energy she puts into the read. She is always a joy to listen to and this was another happy journey. Her pace is swift enough to keep the story moving in slower moments. She is a compliment to the the story and well suited to the whole series.

This is the end of the series for me. I did not like Jonquil's sister and am not interested in reading her romance. My cousin feels differently, she is eager for the next book. It is all subjective! :)

Disclosure – I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own. I was under no obligation to post a review or give positive feedback.

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review!

I purchased a copy of the novel A Perfect Fit (DiCarlo Brides Book 1): Love in Juniper Ridge Jan 15, 2014 by Heather Tullis and this review was given freely.
A good introduction to the series. Complex and full of drama. 6 women find out after their father's funeral that they really are sisters and must work and live together for a year to make a the new Colorado hotel prosperous or marry in order to inherit. What they didn't expect upon arrival to the hotel site in Juniper Ridge,Colorado were romances that were secretly set up for them by their father George DiCarlo prior to his death and the multiple media sabotage attempts. Couples inferred include Cami with Landscaper Vince ,her sister Lana with the hotel's regional manager Blake, and her stepsisters Sage with former SEAL and head of hotel security Joel, Delphi with photographer Jeremy, and Jonquil with Ski Resort owner/manager Gage. A tutorial on hot air ballooning, setting up a hotel and resort and the stress of waiting for a kidney transplant are seamlessly blended in with all the family and workplace drama.

I purchased a copy of the novel The Last Bride (DiCarlo Brides Book 6) Jan 22, 2014 by Heather Tullis and this review was given freely.
The last of the six DiCarlo brides finally wins her love and gains the emotional support and sense of belonging she has been craving for years. George DiCarlo's last not so "secret match" involves his youngest daughter the Hotel's floral manager Jonquil and appears to be a soulmate but Gage is still resistant. Both Jonquil and struggling local ski resort owner Gage are dedicated hard hard works who love nature and outdoor sports, support their families emotionally and monetarily but are taken advantage of by their self centered younger sisters. Life gets interesting when floral department manger Jonquil's flighty self centered little sister the drama student Angela moves in for the summer, Gage is unable to support his self centered socialite sister Natalie, and someone sabotages the ski resort.

**** Book 7

I purchased a copy of the novel Getting Her Groom (DiCarlo Brides Book 7) Dec 11, 2014 by Heather Tullis and this review was given freely.
An older man-younger woman romance with a sinister undertone, one large loving family, a pair of superficial parents, and a happy ending. Tying up some loose ends, Jonquil's little sister Angela's road to graduation is sabotage but, graduation does not end her problems when she has to make a decision between a long distance relationship with Cami and Lana's cousin the lawyer Alex, living near her family, and taking an understudy position to her dream job on Broadway in NY.
Can be read as a stand alone but best if read in sequence. Violence is not as graphic as in prior novels.

Not Really The Last Bride!!

The Last Bride is the sixth book in the Dicarlo Brides series. Its the story of Gage and Jonquil. It was the most awkward of the relationships. Jonquil was all in and showed what she was willing to do for Gage. He, on the other hand, couldn't decide if he wanted a real relationship with her or not. She should have kicked him to the curb; or at least given him to Angela. But no, she hung in until Gage realized he loved her. I don't have much faith in their future. He was simply too needy.

They both had so much baggage in their lives. Gage and Jonquil both had younger sisters that gave them too much grief with all the foolish jealousy.
The suspense with someone shooting at them was so contrived. There was never any doubt who was out to get Gage. The machinations went too far, especially with Gage's mother. His sister, Natalie, was a spoiled brat. So was Jonquil sister, Angela who just wanted a man.

There remained to many loose ends, especially with some of the sister's mothers. Still there were questions that were never answered even though all the bad guys/girls were caught. None were wrapped up in tidy packages.

Apparently Jonquil is not the last bride. We know Angela is going after Alex. Of course, she's not a Dicarlo so she won't be a DiCarlo bride. Then what's the point? I guess we'll find out what was in the last letters from George to his daughters. Who cares, I don't.

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Last Bride is the 6th book in the DiCarlo Brides series by Heather Tullis and another good read! !

A deceased father who throws his 6 daughters together (2 from his marriage and 4 illegitimate daughters by 4 different women) to build and run his hotel that he left as a legacy to all his daughters. Each daughter has something to bring to the table but they must all live on the premises with each other. While trying to come to grips with this curve ball and he also has another curve ball for each daughter.....a husband he has personally picked out! !

Jonquil is the last of the DiCarlo daughters to find her ever after and has set her heart on Gage from their first meeting. Gage on the other hand wants nothing to do with her even though these two have so much in common because of his past with his father and feels Jonquil’s father is just as manipulative as his was.

As in all the other books there is a mystery to solve that helps to bring the couple together and while you may be able to figure it out…still was not quite what I expected to happen. Will these two figure out figure it all out and find they truly do belong together or will they remain just friends???

George DiCarlo is proving to be quite a matchmaker, even in death. He may have met his match with Gage & Jonquil though. Gage is bound and determined to dislike Jonquil even if she does seem nice & there’s some chemistry there. Jonquil was interested until she realized Gage wasn’t. Now they both are fighting the chemistry & George’s plans tooth & nail.

Ms. Tullis has written another enjoyable easy to read romance. Like the others in the series, each story is self contained & has an element of suspense. In this case, Gage’s resort is having an unusual amount of repairs crop up, his family is being threatened & his sister is up to her ears in gambling debts. While Gage is trying to avoid falling for Jonquil, he has to figure out who is behind his troubles. Both Gage & Jonquil have problems with spoiled, jealous, self absorbed younger sisters that like to rewrite history to suit them. I really enjoy this series & the sisters not only falling in love but also finding their way into becoming a family.

It's been almost a year since Jonquil learned of her 5 half sisters. Almost a year of living with them and working with them and watching them all fall in love with men their father had chosen. Now she learns that her father had chosen Gage for her. However, Gage is in no way interested - doesn't matter if he finds her attractive - doesn't matter that they both love the outdoors and hiking - he is not going to be roped into marriage by George. When Gage's life is turned upside down, Jonquil is there for him. She takes control and helps him in ways he didn't know he wanted. But as his life spirals out of control, he starts wondering if George may have been right all along.
Love this series! Love the story lines, the characters, the relationship woes, the humor, the wit, the love and the authenticity the writer imparts to all of them. Cannot recommend this series highly enough! It's a must read!

This is the story of Jonquil, the last DiCarlo sister not engaged or married. She is interested in Gage from the start but he takes his time getting to know her, despite a mutual attraction. He definitely doesn't want George DiCarlo's prediction of them ending up together to come true. Despite all this they do get to know each other and they are the perfect fit. I enjoyed the story line of their romance and really like the two main characters.
There are a lot of other scenarios going on, however, that makes their courtship more complicated and far from safe and boring. With two obnoxious siblings in the mix and a couple of dangerous situations with kidnappers and shooters this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I would have liked to have read more detail on Jonquil's and Gage's pasts but other than that, another great suspenseful romance from Heather Tullis!

Wow!! I love Jonquil and that she didn't give up on Gage even though he wasn't interested at all. She didn't really pursue him but basically also didn't stay away. I like Gage a lot and I understand to a degree why he was backward on relationships but you want to shout at him at some point to just grow up and accept love or just get out. Thank goodness we finally got there and he realized why he wasn't accepting her which again I understand to a degree but when you are keeping yourself from being happy it's like seriously dude. Anyway, I still love it and I loved seeing and hearing from the sisters and their husbands or future husbands.

This book was definitely the most mystery of all of the books and it went from one suspense timeframe to another almost. I had figured out who was involved in it all but still to hear it all was pretty cool. Highly recommend this series!

Ending Love

Jonquil & Gage Story

The last DiCarlo sisters story. After finding out that her father picked Gage has her future husband. Jonquil was kind of okay with the idea. Jonquil dealing with her little sister being with her for the summer. Also dealing with that Rocky relationship between her younger sister.

Gage is dealing with his own family issue's. Gage is dealing with a high maintenance of a sister. His mom that needs him too. He as a lot on his plate.

Bring these two together for a good book. You get some twist and turns you did not see 👀 coming. That are great for each other. Really enjoyed reading this book.

This last book in the DiCarlo Brides series was a great combination of romance and suspense. It is well written with great characters. I love Jonquil's spunk. Gage is a steady, hard worker. Natalie is a piece of work. It has a steadily moving plot with a predictable but fun ending. Language: clean Heat: moderate (Pre-marital sex but nothing graphic)

This was another great story in the series. I was so happy to see Gage finally start acting nicely to Jonquil.... seeing them come together as they enjoy mutual hobbies was a lot of fun. With all the family drama going on around them it was great to see them work together to solve their problems. A great read.

Very good. The kissing scenes were ah-ma-zing. Sex is behind-the-scenes/fade-to-black. No swearing. Storyline was pretty predictable as I knew from the start “who dunnit”. Good story. Need to be read in order. This is book #6 in the series. #7 concludes the series, I think. I took my time reading it as it’s quite a long read but I didn’t get bored.

I have loved reading this series. This one has been sitting on my kindle for a while and it has been at least a year since reading book 5 but that didn't matter. It was easy to slip back into the family and remember the characters and how they all come to be together. This was an action packed read and one that had me on the edge of my seat.

Jonquil is a truly nice and selfless person. I love how well she and Gage click. Gage has a lot of stresses in his life, and Jonquil is the perfect support. This book highlights how good family and close relationships can be. There is definitely some suspense, and I enjoy that as well. I love the developing relationships.

Finally we get Jonquil's story! Unlike all her other sisters she was very open to the idea of who her father has chosen for her. Gage on the other hand is the complete opposite! He does NOT want to have anything to do with Jonquil and does his best to avoid it at all costs! Stubborn man! Doesn't he know that it was inevitable that they would end up together?! ;)

Jonquil is an observer. She likes to sit back and watch people. She is very perceptive to all things going on around her and she doesn't miss much. She sees the kind of man that Gage is and she knows that he will do anything and everything for the people that he loves... whether they be family or friends. She also sees that he puts the needs of everyone else in front of his own. He takes care of them before he takes care of himself. When tragedy strikes she is right there at his side... doing for him what he does for everyone else.

Gage has a hard time figuring out what in the world he wants. He enjoys spending time with Jonquil and she bring happiness into his life. But no matter how much he likes having her around he is still stubborn when it comes to the wishes of her father. The more time they spend together, the more he starts to change his mind. Can his heart talk his mind into marrying Jonquil?

As for the mystery part of the book, like a few of the others in this series, it was kinda predictable. I knew early on who was in on everything and why.. but I didn't mind. I still enjoyed the book and felt like it was a good addition to the series.

I'm glad that I stumbled upon the DiCarlo Brides series. They were sweet, swoony reads that fit my moods when I was in a funk. I look forward to reading them again! :)
