“It’s beautiful, but what does the K stand for?”
“Kiss me.”
She smirked and shook her head. “New tricks. Same dog.”
It was impossible not to take her words as a challenge. I pushed her back until she was pinned against the door and leaned in close enough that our breaths mingled. Her eyes snapped wide the same way they always had whenever I’d invaded her personal space, and I watched, satisfied, as she sucked in a lung full of air and held it.
“That mentality will be your downfall this time around, Val.” I leaned in, letting my lips linger at her jawline for a moment too long before bringing them to her ear.
“Same old tricks,” I whispered. “New man.”
"Thoughts of you runnin’ through my head
Heart’s pumpin’ full speed ahead
Body’s screaming to get you in bed
Need you, want you, baby gotta be mine
Come to me girl, I’m done wastin’ time
You ask me to wait, don’t know if I can
Too scared to lose, I’m only a man
But I can’t let you go, can’t shut the door
Heart’s telling me you’re worth waiting for
The feel of your lips, hot breath on my skin
Touching you, touching me, I’d relish the sin
Let’s find a way for us both to win
Need you, want you, baby gotta be mine
Come to me girl, I’m done wastin’ time
You ask me to wait, don’t know if I can
Too scared to lose, I’m only a man
But I can’t let you go, can’t shut the door
Heart’s telling me you’re worth waiting for
Forever I’ll wait, it’s drivin’ me mad
Driven by memories I’ve not yet had
Hangin’ on a promise of you and me
Hope springs eternal for things that could be
You ask me to wait, don’t know if I can
Too scared to lose, I’m only a man
But I can’t let you go, can’t shut the door
Heart’s telling me you’re worth waiting for
You ask me to wait, don’t know if I can
Too scared to lose, I’m only a man
Bring on the torture, forever and more
’Cause girl it’s true, you’re worth waiting for"

Because you're worth it. I'm not going to like everything about you, and you're not going to like everything about me, but that doesn't mean we can't make this work.
I'm here now. Give me one day. Just today. If that works, then give me tomorrow.
Val’s eyes filled with tears… When those soft-brown beauties found mine…
"I do put the 'abs' in 'abstination', do I?"
“Marry me,” I said. I sounded as astonished as she looked, but it felt right. It was right. When I spoke again, my voice went from surprised to insistent. “Be my wife, Val. Be the woman who wakes up in this bed with me every morning for the rest of our lives. Fight with me how Robin and Alan do. Make love to me. Have my children.” Her eyes popped so wide that I laughed and said, “You know, eventually, someday.”
A is for ASSHOLE.
