It's still PG-13 (I don't write graphic sex scenes) but it's not as clean as my YA romance. Please keep that in mind if you're a sensitive reader or thinking about passing it to your teenage daughters.

Yes, I'm preparing for my exams... well, I'm not. Never mind. :D So, I have to say that this was way better than V is for Virgin. And guess why.
Val was still there (bad) but we didn't have to listen to her inner monologues about how awesome, pure and good she's! (Awesome!)
So yeah, Kyle's mind is much better. :)
Anyway, I would love Val to meet Adrianne. That would be epic! So, this is like 3,5 stars.

Really, they were dating just for few months. Okay, I know some couples who got married even faster. But I would expect Val to wait at least for years. But she didn't. She just wanted sex as much as Kyle did. Now, I'll be mean but I wish she slept with him before the marriage :D

Before I babble on how much and why I love this book so much, I just want to acknowledge the fact that this book contained a whole lot of Kyle Hamilton...

Plus, it was even in his POV...

And just like that...


Oh yeah, a little reminder, if you want to read this book but you haven't read the first installment, THEN DO SO!!!!! You won't regret it!

Anyway...

*Squeal* After learning that this book actually existed, I literally jumped for joy! I absolutely loved and adored V Is for Virgin, and it was no surprise I loved this book as much (although I loved this a teeny bit more)! I seriously couldn't put this book down! I mean, who could resist the GREAT AND SEXYLICIOUS KYLE HAMILTON?!?!? He was just the ultimate rockstar on a stick that I seriously wanted to lick! He was YUM. I loved him on the first book, and I didn't love him any less with this! To admit, I think I loved him even more, even though he was also the perfect definition of a jerk (but whatever).

Surprising as it sounds, Kyle was engaged to an ultimate groupie of Tralse, named Adrianna. He genuinely loved her, but this skanky bitch made the biggest mistake and cheated on him. And of course with that, they break up.....AND HALLELUJAH!!! I'm sorry because this is so mean of me, but I was glad that Adrianna cheated on Kyle. Yes, he did get hurt because of that, but look at what he got in exchange: The Virgin Val! And with that, Kyle and Val see each other again after 4 years!

And you know what happens when Kyle Hamilton collides with Valerie Jensen:

YES YES YES!!!! THESE TWO WERE FINALLY REUNITED AND IT DEFINITELY FELT GOOD! And guess what! Kyle finally agreed to abstain from sex just for Val!!!! Can I get an "AWWWWWWWW!!!" AHHH!!! AND KYLE'S SONG FOR VAL WAS JUST......*SWOON* I don't want to keep on babbling so as not to spoil all the good stuff, but that ending: AMAZING!

I really loved this book and how it didn't need unnecessary drama and all that stuff. It was good in its own form, and as usual, this did not fail to make me laugh! Yes, I was definitely entertained, even just from Kyle and Val's banter alone! The characters were well-written, and you just can't help but love them all! The story itself was brilliant, and the fact that this was written in Kyle's POV was definitely enough for me! It's just nice to finally experience the HEA of Kyle and Val!

I just want to say that this book was WORTH WAITING FOR!

Uff! Schade Schokolade, das war leider auch nicht besser als Band 1...
Ich wollte dem Buch gerne eine Chance geben, da es 4 Jahre nach dem ersten Buch spielt und ich die Hoffnung hatte, dass Val und Kyle reifer geworden sind. Aber leider nein.
Das Buch wird komplett aus Kyle´s Sicht erzählt und grade zu Beginn wirkt die Geschichte soooo konstruiert. Man hat einfach gemerkt, dass bloß eine Einleitung hermusste, auch wenn man direkt von Beginn an weiß, wo die Story hinführt.
Die Entwicklung der Charaktere war leider quasi nicht vorhanden. Kyle hatte ab und an mal einen lichten Moment, aber Val fand ich im ersten Buch sympathischer als hier. Sie hat zwar viel erreicht, aber man merkt es ihr als Person gar nicht an. Sie hat null Selbstbewusstsein und Selbstvertrauen und sie war sooo weinerlich...
Auch die Story an sich ließ doch sehr zu wünschen übrig. Es war einfach nur Kitsch pur und das Ende war so gar nicht überraschend, nachdem es quasi keinen Spannungsbogen gab.
Mittlerweile habe ich echt Sorge, dass Band 1 von Cinder & Ella ein One-Hit-Wonder der Autorin war...

Es sind vier Jahre vergangen und nach Kyles Auftritt am Ende von "V is for Virgin" hatte ich erwartet, dass er wirklich erwachsen geworden ist, aber da wurde ich schon ziemlich enttäuscht, denn Kyle ist weder schlauer noch reifer als zuvor. Eigentlich ist er noch der gleiche arrogante Rockstar wie vorher, nur dass er jetzt keine Lust mehr auf Gelegenheitssex hat. Jetzt hat er sich nach Jahren wieder in den Kopf gesetzt, dass er unbedingt mit Val zusammen sein muss. Kyle macht zwar bei der Abstinenz-Challenge mit, aber er denkt trotzdem ständig nur daran, Val auszuziehen und ins Bett zu schmeißen, nur Vals Versprechen hindert ihn daran. Auch seine ständigen anzüglichen Kommentare haben nicht nachgelassen.

Mich hat aber auch Val gestört, die ständig in Tränen ausgebrochen ist. Sie ist eigentlich schon so taff, setzt sich erfolgreich durch und verfolgt ihre Ziele, aber in diesem Buch sieht man sie vor allem weinen. Es fühlt sich so an, als würde ihr ganzes Glück nur von Kyle abhängen und sie ist so dankbar für jeden Schritt, den er in ihre Richtung macht. Außerdem weint sie auch, wenn sie sich für minderwertig hält oder wenn Kyle sich mal wieder daneben benimmt. Ich fand es so schade, dass sie sich mit ihrer Entscheidung, Jungfrau zu bleiben, nicht immer wohlfühlt, obwohl sie doch so viel durchgemacht hat.

Wie auch zuvor finden viele wichtige Gespräche in der Öffentlichkeit statt, weil Kyle immer noch kein Gefühl für Privatsphäre hat. Das Buch ist voll von kitschigen Szenen, in denen Val in Tränen ausbricht und Kyle sich auf ihre Lippen stürzt.

Es geht hier eigentlich genauso weiter wie im Vorgänger, von den vier Jahren spürt man nicht wirklich etwas. Val hat zwar viel erreicht, aber sie ist eher weinerlicher statt erwachsener geworden. Ihr Selbstbewusstsein im Vorgänger hatte mir besser gefallen! Und wer hofft, hier auf einen reiferen Kyle zu treffen, sollte nicht zu viel erwarten.

Fazit
"A is for Abstinence" hat mir nicht so gut gefallen wie erhofft, weil ich dachte, dass Kyle inzwischen erwachsener wäre, aber da wurde ich nur enttäuscht. Ich hätte nach dem Zeitsprung schon etwas mehr erwartet, aber es geht genauso weiter wie im Vorgänger. Die weinerliche Val hat es auch nicht besser gemacht.

¡Decepción! No sentí nada con este libro, en normal, Kyle rompe con prmetida, después de 4 años de repente sienta esa necesidad de estar con Val, ella se siente insegura sobre lo que querrá Kyle(La entiendo, después de 4 años el hombre decide: Hey rompí con Adrianne ¡Vamos a buscar a Val!)
No es ni tierno ni romántico, es empalagoso al punto de llevar al aburrimiento.

Actually,I rarely read New Adult books because :

1. The characters are close on my age level.
2. The characters do some idiotic things, in which if I look at them closely, I can see that there's a possibility that I can relate and I'll do it too if given a chance and I don't like it when I realize that I do stupid things...
3. I hate idiotic characters.

But why on God's green earth did I read this book?!
I blame Rachel for that...

This is the second book of V is for Virgin and when Valerie was the one who narrates the first book, this time it's Kyle's POV. The book opens eight months before the epilogue of V is for Virgin and it's a nice thing for the author to shows us the breakup of Kyle and his ex-fiancee. It clears things up and makes Kyle's crusade for Abstinence more precious and understandable.

I gotta admit I was kinda reluctant to read this. I didn't like Kyle very much on the first book. Most reader loved him for being an annoying, self-loving bastard who bullied Val.

Well sorry.That shit didn't work on me.

But this book! This mother effing book! This book absolutely works for me!

Kyle may still have the characteristics that make him as Kyle Hamilton,( Sexiest Man Alive according to a magazine,) but he is a mature-I-know-now-what-I'm-doing Kyle. And there is nothing sexier than a mature man.


In this book, Kyle has taken up the Abstinence Challenge (and take note that I used capital letter to start those words.) It was not easy for him, that was much pretty obvious, and he was very honest about that with Val. I love it that he admits it was a real hardship having a girlfriend and not having sex with her because it was, be honest folks, it's really hard and I'm not just talking about wasted erection and blue balls here.

Also, to those who went super duper fangirl with Kyle's first song to Valerie, don't worry people. Kelly Oram didn't disappoint us. Kyle has a new song for Valerie and it's totally an OMG kind of song.

Noch kritischer als Band 1 und gleichzeitig widerspricht er dem ersten Band so sehr.

This is the sequel to V is for Virgin novel of Kelly Oram and I'm just happy that she made a follow-up because the ending to that first novel was no way satisfying and it was such a cliffhanger.

I love Kyle Hamilton so much even though he was such an ass and I'm glad that this book is his POV.



I was able to understand him more and believe me I swoon over him and the song he made was really cheesy but at the same time sweet when you read it.

I wish there was a real song made just like in Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover so I could fangirl enough. I was able to appreciate Kyle's efforts of abstaining just to prove Valerie what she means to him, though sometimes his rock star attitude gets in the way, he's still Kyle but changed for the better and he is just so sweeeeeet. Although the first book is YA, I dunno if this falls under New Adult because it's their life four years after. There are sexy parts in the novel, don't worry they're all PG 13 so it's all good if you're one of those readers who are bothered with some graphical descriptions. I for one don't mind if there's some smut in my novel but in my opinion everything about this book is perfect. Kyle's POV made me like Valerie Jensen here but she still annoys me sometimes.

Overall I really like this book, if you want to read a contemporary duology that is cute, sexy and easy to read then go for the V is for Virgin.

Empecemos.
Este libro me fascino. Nunca pensé que Kyle pudiera ser tan emocional.

Realmente quede enamorada de el en esta secuela *0* Me gusto mucho su decisión a lograr lo que quería, sin importar lo que tenía que hacer para poder estar con la chica que amaba.
Finalmente Kyle maduro y descubrió que no todo en la vida es sexo. Y por eso lo amo más :3
Valerie, me gusto mucho. Esta Valerie madura y llena de éxitos. Pero a pesar de eso, con un corazón frágil y difícil de tomar, consecuencia de los eventos ocurridos en V is for virgin (Kyle fuiste un idiota).
Durante mi lectura, me encontré con comentarios escritos por uno que otro lector.
Me encontré muy enojada con unos cuantos que afirmaban decir que Val era una "Calienta Cacerolas" y "Extremista".
Sólo esperó que su ignorancia no sea contagiosa y que vayan y lean de nuevo el primer libro.
¿Por qué Val quiere permanecer virgen hasta el matrimonio?
Porque bien sabemos que fue adoptada y que su madre biológica ni siquiera sabía quien había sido su padre.
Es por esto que ella se hace la promesa a si misma de no dormir con nadie hasta estar casada.
Lo que a muchas personas les molesta por ser y punto de vista diferente, aguafiestas, aburrido y mojigato.
Gracias a eso, se empieza a crear V is for virgin, campaña creada con el fin de ayudar a todas esas personas que son vírgenes y que no se sienten preparados para el sexo.

Eso es en el primer libro xd
Ahora al segundo.
Ameeeee que kyle aceptara el reto de Abstinencia.
Y ame como Val descubrió que Kyle de verdad la amaba cuando vio a lo que renunciaba por ella.
Durante la historia, se nota como Val trata de no intimar mucho con Kyle por miedo a sufrir otra ruptura de corazón (Otra vez, fuiste un idiota Kyle) y se vienen momentos cursis y emotivos que amaran.

“A pesar de que sigo enamorándome más y más de ti, siempre estoy a la espera de que rompas mi corazón.”

ESTE LIBRO ES TAN CURSI Y LO AMO.

La historia en si tiene muchas partes graciosas como:

“—Voy a tomar la foto para ti. Apriétense. Va a ser difícil que entren todos con tanto espacio que ocupa el ego de Kyle.”

“—¿Desventaja? —tosí—. No fui tan malo.
—Kyle, Robin podría haber jugado mejor que tu, y ella está a dos días de parir.”

“—Me llevas al hospital Huntington Memorial en Pasadena o eres hombre muerto, Kyle.¿Me oíste? ¡No te metas con una mujer en labor de parto!”

Y bueno. Hablemos del final.
EL FINAL
Digamos que sabemos que Val después de todo es muy humana y tiene hormonas, y que conservarse a si misma se estaba tornando difícil con el sexy de Kyle a su alrededor.
Así que se imaginaran.
Su súper mega hoper boda secreta por motivos como: "No quiero que los medios de comunicación arruinen la primera vez que hacemos el amor" (Lo se, también morí literalmente al leer eso)
Y su noche se bodas que..
VAMOS KELLY! QUERÍAMOS SABER UN POCO MÁS!
Digamos que yo esperaba algo más emotivo y expresivo. Quería saber lo que Kyle sentía y que a través de el nos dieran a entender lo que Val sentía. No de manera física descriptiva (Aunque no estaría mal un poco), si no de la manera cursi y emocional.
DOS LIBROS ESPERANDO POR ESTO Y NOS DAS NADA MÁS QUE CINCO PÁRRAFOS QUE LO QUE HICIERON FUE DEJARNOS CON LAS GANAS DE LEER MÁS.
NO VALE ASI NO SE PUEDE.
NO.
NO SE PUEDE.

Pero no nos podemos quejar. Porque a pesar de todo, conseguimos nuestro final feliz sin personajes muertos ni cosa por el estilo.

Ah, este libro. Los POV masculinos tienden a tener algo especial, te brindan la experiencia completa, nuevas perspectivas, motivos que quizá nunca pensaste. O que simplemente te derritas de ternura como en el caso de A is for Abstinence. Recuerdo claramente haber dicho en la reseña de V is for Virgin como es que Kyle Hamilton no me agradaba mucho, no tanto como que odiara al personaje, sólo que lo sentí extrañamente real, las circunstancias que me rodeaban ese momento también tuvieron que ver. Así que fue una completa sorpresa lo mucho que este libro me tuve con esa sonrisa boba que una le da cuando lee la perspectiva del bad boy.

Cómo siempre, siempre voy a resaltar con los libros de Kelly es que si bien son sencillos y muy rápidos de leer, al final siempre me dejan con esa sensación de más, de que sutilmente me enseñó algo pero no le logro poner nombre, me gusta mucha esta escritora, obviamente.

Había algo en el primer libro que se me hacía un poco incómodo y es que Kyle es demasiado extrovertido, su gusto por ser el centro de atención se me hacía tan incómodo, siendo yo una persona muy reservada prácticamente antisocial no entendía como es que Valerie lograra convivir con ello. Kelly en A is for Abstinence explica bien el balance de las relaciones, a veces en algunos libros alguno de los protagonistas, extrañamente casi siempre es el lado masculino, cambian de la noche a la mañana, es como se enamoran y puff "ahora soy una buena persona, limpiaste mi alma en el momento que te conocí" y así. Me ha gustado mucho sentir la relación posible en la realidad.

Y sip, este libro es completa, absolutamente derretible (?). Kyle sigue siendo Kyle pero maduro, no cambió de la noche a la mañana y eso es lo que me gustado e incluso al cambiar de perspectiva pude sentir las emociones de Valerie, este libro no cambió para nada mi opinión de Valerie.

AMÉ completamente A is for Abstinence.

Vorweg: ich hatte nie vor, diesen zweiten Band zu lesen. Doch nachdem immer mehr Rezensionen kamen, in denen von einer Steigerung gesprochen wurde, war ich dann doch neugierig, ob Kelly Oram mich wieder versöhnlich stimmen kann. Tja. Anhand meiner Bewertung sieht man: es hat nicht im geringsten geklappt. Kyle und Val sind anstrengend wie eh und je und durch das Verhalten der beiden wird die gesamte Handlung uninteressant und langweilig. Dazu noch der Aspekt der Unehrlichkeit, und schon war zumindest Kyle bei mir unten durch. Es wirkte auf mich, als müsse die Autorin zwei grundverschiedene Figuren mit Gewalt zusammenbringen, obwohl sie sich ganz offensichtlich abstoßen wie gleichpolige Magneten. Alles in allem fand ich diesen zweiten Band fast noch unnötiger als den Auftakt der Dilogie, auch wenn ich sagen muss, dass mir zumindest Val hier eine Winzigkeit besser gefallen hat. Das wars dann aber auch schon mit den positiven Aspekten. Auf meinem Blog gibt's dann auch noch meine Meinung zum Ausgang der Geschichte, zum Schreibstil, und zu allem, zu was ich noch was zu sagen hatte. Feather-light
As much as this book was much better and much amusing than the first one, V is for Virgin, I am one of the people who vote that it was much better if this book wasn’t written. I think that the ending for V is for Virgin is good enough, leaving things as they are, letting the audience in bit of a hang and in surge of imagination on what would happen.

This book shows what happens after four years Kyle and Val haven’t seen each other. For a point, Kyle was a much more amusing narrator than Valerie was in the first book. Though, he’s still one of the stereotype jerks who apparently change a bit of their ways just because some girl has been sarcastic or ‘wasn’t charmed’ by him. *snort* After a major heartbreak, he becomes dedicated to make Virgin Val his to the point of taking the vow of abstinence. And yeah, the story goes…denial, tears, she gives in, they make out (like all of the time), insecurities, love, making out, jealousy, making out to the point they break their vows (seriously?!) *snort* *snort*. And they got married for 3 minutes because they can’t hold out any longer???

It was like the whole idea of the book was scratched for the sense of improbable and shallow romance. There wasn’t much of a plot or story looking forward to. This was just full of c**ap—the incessant ravishing passion and desire of theirs where it was needed to do often like the readers were idiots who didn’t get it!

Fame and ‘hotness’ were pretty much emphasized and that the characters are completely not from this world. Because, really, I don’t think you’d get famous for a very long time over spreading your v*. What more is that Val has become boring than ever, pathetic and annoying with many tears with her ‘beautiful brown eyes’. Kyle, the gullible one says so.

"I do put the 'abs' in 'abstination', do I?"

This still made me smile but it just can't measure up to the first book. Which is totally due to the perspective change. Where Val was all 'Not gonna put out so don't even try!', he's all 'I need to screw her so bad...'. Which was totally annoying. I started totally hating him and I wanted Brian Oliver to come by and save me (whenever he was mentioned that was the highlight of the book. If not for my totally huuuuge tbr, I'd totally go for a reread of Cinder & Ella). Also, personally I was totally disappointed in the ending because it was so fucking predictable.

Wie immer bei den Büchern von Kelly Oram konnte ich das Buch super flüssig weglesen und ich musste an ein paar Stellen auch richtig lachen. Der zweite Teil spielt vier Jahre nach Teil 1, was mir schon mal im Grunde richtig gut gefallen hat und ganz andere Optionen für die Geschichte und Charakterentwicklungen bot. Kyle hat mir in diesem Buch viel besser gefallen als in Teil 1, da man die Geschichte aus seiner Sicht liest und ich ihn nun viel besser verstehen konnte, auch auf Situationen rückblickend auf „V is for Virgin“ bezogen.
Das Buch ist perfekt für Zwischendurch und bietet eine leichte Unterhaltung, genau das, wonach ich gesucht habe. Wer allerdings eine Liebesgeschichte mit viel Tiefgang wünscht, wird hier enttäuscht werden. Gerade das Ende bleibt oberflächlich, ging mir viel zu schnell und für das die Charaktere beide Mitte/Ende 20 waren, haben sie agiert wie gefühlsüberschwemmte, verliebte Teenager. Das ist jetzt per se nichts schlechtes, trägt aber nicht zur Glaubwürdigkeit bei. An einigen Stellen hab ich auch die Augen verdrehen müssen, weil Kyle so ein starres Frauenbild hat, wo ich mir gewünscht hätte, dass (gerade nach Cinder&Ella!) es im Jahr 2020 einfach nicht mehr nötig in Büchern wäre.
Zusammenfassend wurde ich gut unterhalten und empfehle das Buch vor allem jungen Lesern und jedem, der einfach mal den Kopf ausschalten möchte 😊

OHMYGOD KYLE HAMILTON, SERIOUSLY YOU ARE DA BEST.



When I read the first book, I wasn’t sure what to make of Kyle. Well yes, I didn’t like Kyle but I didn’t hate him either. So I guess Kyle was a neutral character for me back then, but now after I finished reading this book, he’s become one of book boyfriends that I love. Seriously, I didn’t expect him to be sweet and thoughtful yet still an arrogant himself like the old Kyle.

“Marry me,” I said. I sounded as astonished as she looked, but it felt right. It was right. When I spoke again, my voice went from surprised to insistent. “Be my wife, Val. Be the woman who wakes up in this bed with me every morning for the rest of our lives. Fight with me how Robin and Alan do. Make love to me. Have my children.” Her eyes popped so wide that I laughed and said, “You know, eventually, someday.”

Band 1 "V is for Virgin" konnte mich trotz der breiten Kritik wirklich absolut überzeugen und deshalb habe ich mich unglaublich gefreut Kyle und Val in diesem Buch wieder zu begegnen. Leider hat mich der Folgeband jedoch ziemlich enttäuscht! Nichts von den Funken, die mich in Band 1 begeistern konnten, war in diesem Band noch vorhanden. Besondern missfallen hat mir, die großen Veränderungen, die die beiden Hauptprotagonisten seit Band 1 durchgemacht haben. Natürlich sind vier Jahre vergangen, allerdings hat besonders Val gefühlt eine 180° Wende durchlebt und sie war mir mit ihren Stimmungsschwankungen so gar nicht mehr sympathisch. Generell hat sich in dem Buch auch bis auf das letzte Viertel nicht besonders viel ereignet und somit musste ich mich als Leserin durch einige Längen quälen. Ich glaube, ohne das Hörbuch hätte ich das Buch abgebrochen.
Jedoch kann ich nichts Negatives an dem Schreibstil von Kelly Oral finden. Er ist flüssig und bildhaft wie eh und je und hat mich wieder sehr begeistern können. Ich denke, dieses Buch war einfach nicht das Richtige für mich, aber ich bin mir sicher vielen Lesern unter euch wird es gefallen. Deshalb ist es wichtig zu sagen: Bildet euch gerne eure eigene Meinung.

Kyle, kyle, kyle...

A is for ASSHOLE.

Me he aguantado los dramas de estos dos, durante dos libros y estoy orgullosa de mi misma por eso.
Es enserio, la autora en este libro nos plantea como ellos estuvieron "enamorados" en el anterior libro y la verdad es que no vi ese "amor" en el libro anterior y me es imposible verlo en este libro, y que este libro siga con su drama absurdo y con Kyle siendo tremendamente idiota...

La verdad no sé si fue buena idea o no que este libro fuera narrado desde el punto de vista de Kyle, pues aunque me hizo entender muchas cosas yo sencillamente no podía aguantarme a este tipo.

Tal vez si el libro hubiera sido desde una perspectiva diferente me hubiera gustado un poco mas, o si la autora no tratara de meterme por los ojos el que esos dos estaban "muy enamorados" o que "tenían mucha química" e "inevitable conexión" hubiera sido diferente; No sé, tal vez (solo es una suposición).

La verdad estoy tratando de pensar en algo bueno que sacar de este libro porque...

Y la verdad es que el epilogo si me emocionó un poquis (aunque sigo siendo fiel a mi pensamiento de que Val se merece algo mejor que Kyle).


Si algún día vuelvo a leer el primero pueda que cambie de opinión (aunque eso lo dudo), para rectificar que tanta "química" tenia este par.

Cuando lei que habria una segunda parte de V Is For Virgin me volvi totalmente loca por leerlo!

No me gusto el final del primer libro y sentia como si el libro hubiera quedado incompleto, aunque debo reconocer que tambien me dio mucha rabia que Kyle se rindiera tan facil con Val.
El libro cumple con su funcion de darles un cierre a Val y Kyle pero yo esperaba mas de el libro, la lectura se me paso volando pero no llego a cumplir todas mis expectativas, quizas porque esperaba mucho de la historia o quizas porque esperaba que la historia siguiera un rumbo diferente.
Lo recomiendo, es un libro bastante bueno y la lectura se te pasa muy rapido, ademas esta escrito por Kelly Oram, esa sola es una razon de peso para leerlo!
Me gusto el final, tenia miedo de que Kelly lo hiciera de nuevo y nos diera un final como el del libro anterior pero en este si hay un final feliz aunque un poco precipitado para mi gusto.

Eigentlich mag ich die Bücher der Autorin gerne. Mit dieser Reihe hat sie zum ersten Mal nicht zu hundert Prozent meinen Geschmack getroffen. Den zweiten Band fand ich sehr zäh. Die Chemie zwischen den Charakteren stimmt, das ist keine Frage. Ansonsten reißt mich das Ganze aber jetzt leider nicht vom Hocker. Bei den anderen Büchern der Autorin fliegen die Seiten immer nur so dahin. Das war hier leider nicht der Fall.

Irgendwann war ich nur noch genervt von der Story. Und am Ende kam mir das dann auch alles etwas überstürzt vor. Was ist eigentlich falsch daran, mehrere Jahre mit jemandem zusammen zu sein und Sex ohne Trauschein zu haben? Braucht man dafür wirklich eine Ehe? In meinen Augen nicht ...

Achtung: Eventuell spoilert das, vor allem, wenn ihr Band 1 noch nicht kennt:

Dieses Buch vermittelt ein völlig falsches Bild. Schnell heiraten, damit man Sex haben darf, ist besser als eine langjährige Partnerschaft? Am Ende ist Sex also okay, solange man verheiratet ist. Das sind für mich leider völlig überzogene Moralvorstellungen. Sex sollte man haben, wenn man jemanden liebt und sich beide Partner sicher sind, dass sie sexuell aktiv sein wollen. Man sollte sich nicht drängen lassen. Das vermittelt der erste Band zumindest recht gut.

Der Hörbuchsprecher bekommt 4 Sterne von mir, das Buch 2,5.

I had thoroughly enjoyed V is for Virgin. So when I heard about the second installment --- and in Kyle Hamilton's point of view no less --- I was over the moon!

Fresh from his heartbreak, Kyle Hamilton seeks out his favorite virgin to rekindle their feelings for each other. Yes, I know for some it might be corny but I freaking loved this book. It was funny and sweet --- oh! and Kyle was absolutely adorable. I just loved his efforts to win Val back, and the fact that he acted like such a teenager.

This book just made me crazy about the idea of how "True Love Waits". Leave it up to books to keep my hopeless romantic tendencies alive. And I highly recommend this book to other hopeless romantics like myself.

Ich habe lange mit mir gerungen den 2.Teil zu lesen da mir der erste nicht gefallen hat.
Allerdings hat mir dieser Teil deutlich besser gefallen was nicht zuletzt auch den dem wunderbare Schreibstil von Kelly Oram liegt.
Auch hier gibt es wieder die stereotypen bezüglich der ganzen Virgin Problematik allerdings nicht ganz so schwarz und weis gemalt wie im ersten Teil.
Vorallem Kyle hat mir seine Geschichte sehr sympathisch gemacht

Das war wirklich sehr... schwierig. Der Protagonist ist so widerlich selbstverliebt und meint aber charmant und süß zu sein, dass ich brechen möchte. Er belästigt sie eigentlich und lässt niemals locker. Ärgert sie die ganze Zeit und stellt Entscheidungen in Frage. Absolute Frechheit. Bin sehr enttäuscht.

A is for Abstinence von Kelly Oram

Nach dem Cliffhanger des ersten Bandes war ich wirklich gespannt zu erfahren wie es mit Kyle und Valerie weitergeht. Da mich V is for Virgin nicht komplett überzeugen konnte, waren meine Erwartungen an dieses Buch nicht allzu hoch. Nichtsdestotrotz hat es mich leider etwas enttäuscht.

Kelly Orams Schreibstil war wirklich angenehm zu lesen, denn er war locker, leicht und flüssig. Dadurch bin ich schnell durch die Seiten gekommen und hatte einen guten Lesefluss.

Kyle war mir wie auch schon im ersten Teil nicht sonderlich sympathisch. Er war immer noch sehr egoistisch, unreif und arrogant, jedoch besserte sich das im Laufe des Buches denn er wurde einfühlsamer und behandelte Valerie liebevoll. Ich konnte es mir bei seinen egozentrischen und sexistischen Gedanken jedoch nicht verkneifen das ein oder andere Mal die Augen zu verdrehen.
Valerie mochte ich zu Anfang des ersten Bandes noch, doch im Laufe dessen wurde sie mir immer unsympathischer, dies änderte sich auch nicht in diesem Buch. Sie kam mir zudem wie eine Fremde vor, denn sie verhielt sich sehr distanziert und abweisend. Außerdem war ihr Verhalten Kyle gegenüber oft unfair und verwirrend. Auch die Nebencharaktere waren mir nicht sonderlich sympathisch, abgesehen von Vals Bruder und ihren Freundinnen Robin und Cara, wirkten sie allesamt sehr flach und charakterlos.

Die Beziehung der beiden durchlief eine schwer nachvollziehbare Entwicklung. Denn nachdem sie sich vier Jahre nicht gesehen hatten, waren sie aus Kyles Sicht direkt nach dem ersten Date wieder ein Paar. Zudem hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die Beziehung hauptsächlich von Kyle ausging und seine Gefühle für Val dementsprechend unerwidert blieben. Die Dynamik zwischen den beiden war allgemein sehr unrealistisch, denn mir kamen sie wie zwei Fremde vor und doch war schon die Rede von Liebe. Die Gefühle konnten meiner Meinung nach nicht wirklich vermittelt werden, was unter anderem daran lag, dass sie nicht nachvollziehbar waren. Der Geschichte fehlte es definitiv an Spannung und Drama, wovon es im ersten Band nicht mangelte. Auch an Tiefe hat es mir gefehlt, denn die Beziehung war sehr oberflächlich. Außerdem war die Handlung uninteressant und eintönig, weshalb es in dem Buch einige Längen gab. Zum Ende hin wurde vieles wieder überstürzt und es wirkte alles sehr gehetzt.

Insgesamt konnte mich die Geschichte rund um Valerie und Kyle auch dieses mal nicht überzeugen.
Da es an dem Schreibstil nichts zu bemängeln gibt bekommt das Buch trotz der laschen Handlung und den unauthentischen Charakteren 2/5
