Ah. I dislike being a hater, but here we go. I dnfed the book shortly after picking it up.

It was already out of my genre, or more like, it is easy to take these themes and topics and turn them incredibly cliché so I avoid these books like the plague. But Maezos is a marketing star and so I caved. AND THE COVER IS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.

I have survived a few or the Zodiac Academy books (I hope that's how they're called), and even The Vampire diaries. And if I were still 16, I would have liked this. But now I am a grown woman and my tastes are needy brats.

The prologue was incredibly confusing. In an effort to intrigue, the author just drowns you in vagueness and childish outbursts that are supposed to represent grown people (I assume). Cmon. And the word choices and sentence conctruction were a bit mundane and disappointing and simply not stimulating enough. I found myself editing it in my head while reading. And that's when I knew I had to stop, because I'd hate the marrow out of this book simply because of the writing style.

Rip The Blairville Legacies, 16 yo me with zero standards and salivating over drama would have loved you.

I'd sum this up as 'not for me.'

However I think the author is a cool person and if you're reading this, shoo, one star rewievs are not for the author's eyes. I hope you continue writing this elaborate world of yours, I believe in you.

I once heard that there's a difference between having a great story to tell and telling a great story. Having a great story is about imagination and originality. And telling it is about skill. I hate to think about all the intriguing stories I missed out on simply because the telling itself diminished them.

Update: after reading the second book which was phenomenal I think I must give 4/4.5 stars for this book, because the second one was just incredible and definitely a five star read for me Rating: 4⭐️/5⭐️

Storyline:
Bayla moves to the town Blairville with her mom who lived there when she was younger and behaves strangely. Bayla herself has a weird sickness why she has itching attacks. On her first day in Blairville the smalltown already seems weird to her because of wolf attacks and other weird accidents she hears about it on the radio.
After meeting her young neighbor Julian that she doesn’t like but still meets again and again trough coincidence she goes to the towns university: vanderwood where she studies from now on.
Her roommates seem to hate each other, the professors seem to have secrets of their own and all in all everyone acts weird until she finds out why that is…

Characters:

There are many different povs so it was a little hard at the beginning to switch from one pov to the next one but later in the story it was soooo good because I learned about each characters own story. I’m personally really excited for Emily’s/Miles story, Madys backstory with Nash and obviously Julie’s and Quentin’s story. And I really liked the DeLoughreys as characters. And then there is Erik and I honestly don’t know what I think of him yet so if Erik isn’t Quentin then I don’t like Erik! But I think he is so I like him

My favorites:
Julie Blair (she’s the queen 👑🔝)
Professor Quentin Tiberius (he’s a professor)
David De Loughrey (he’s so mysterious)

My opinion:
This is just my opinion. Everybody has a different taste and this is just my view.

Characters:
Julian and Bayla were really cute together but I just wasn’t that interested in their lovestory because there were other characters I found more interesting.I personally love Larissa and the DeLoughreys (especially David) and Julie,Quentin Tiberius and Emily. Grace annoyed me a little bit.I really want to see more of Kieran and Camille. And I don’t know what I think of Mady yet because I was really intrigued by her story but not that much by her as a character but i really liked her friendship with Miles.

Story:
I found every characters story very interesting especially Julie’s and Madys and I loved the mystery and the tension between the characters and how they all seem to hate each other and I hope I’ll see more of Miles and Emily in the next books hehe as well as Julie and Quentin Tiberius. And I hope I’ll find more out about the parents and what happened before the children. And I really wanna know who this eye is 👀

Overall rating: 5/5 ⭐️
All in all I’m in love with this book, it was a great book series start and I can’t wait for the next one!!!! (And for Botanik 🤭)
So I’ll wait now for the release date for book two and hopefully many teasers!

⚠️‼️now please stop reading if you don’t want spoilers🫶‼️⚠️

Some of my thoughts:
I also found these scars on Julie’s arms really interesting and I loved the scene were all the papers fell off the table and Tiberius saw these scars. I loved all the scenes they had together. Also that one were she stayed after the lesson and he knew everything about Blairville. And I loved when Emily turned and Bayla was so confused. And David how he watches everything and everyone and is so silent. and I hope the prophecy isn’t about Grace but about Julie. Also the scene where Julie and Erik meet was just 🤌🤌 I loved them.

Favorite moments:

- MILES DRINKING APPLE JUICE IN THE BAR
- Larissa being in everybody’s business and taking pictures of the DeLoughreys
- Julie staying after the lesson ;)
- DeLoughrey brothers first appearance
- And many many more ;))

Some favorite Quotes:

„You seem to have a lot of confidence in your performance.”
He stepped closer. And inwardly I trembled because of his statue. This man was tall, three heads taller than me.

“Julie...” he whispered, tugging at the paper and I finally loosened my grip.
“I’m sorry...” I replied just as quietly, realizing too late what he had just called me...and how forbidden good it had sounded…

“I think you’ve made an enemy, Quatura,” David said from beside me. And how right he would be.

This will...” he began, but it was already too late. I spat out the sweet liquid. “...not satisfy you.”
“Who drinks apple juice, for God’s sake? In a bar?”
I complained with a laugh, handing him back the glass. “I would have expected more class from you DeLoughreys.”
He laughed indignantly. “Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?”
I grabbed my throbbing temple. “Nothing,
I just...I should get going.”

“Of course, you always wake up when I'm with you,” Emely said, annoyed.

You were a wonderful and amazing experience

Right from the start I know I'd be literally obsessed.
I don't even know the dude Ezra too much but ask my crazy ass why I was bawling my eyes out for him OMG 😭😭😭😭
If you're a fan of Vampire diaries or twilight and originals or literally books in those aspects this one is for you.

DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS.
Since when Bay has been when she entered Blairville I knew well something's about to go downhill, and literally it went downhill, Julian saying when Bay had come to blairville that he'd have his own suspicion, welp- that makes us two.

Mady the sunshine girl sorry but she's my least favorite POV, she seems boring asf but well she's a quiet girl, But Julie hehehehehehheheehhehe I want every scene you're in cause she and her sugar boy Erik eh, y'all reveal this face let's know this suspense is killing me you two don't kill this poor girl. I so badly want a relationship between Julian and Bayla tbh-, they fit in so perfectly GAHHHHHHHH 😌❤️.

This book has my whole heart, one of my most anticipated and it meets my expectations, and didn't let me down in anything literally, the urge to pick it up and start all over is so much hahaha.

This enemies thingy is so making me feel giddy, and y'all becoming hostile when you see one another is amusing and pleases my crazy self eheheheh.

Was angry at Emely at first with all her pack pack and pack stuffs then I later came to agreement with why she's like that and her brother is one asshole I don't like him, stop being such a dick DUH.

My experience while reading this is superb 10/10 recommend.😚🧡

So it's a wrap on The Blairville Legacies by Maezos!

Okay so I have a lot of mixed feelings about the book. The story was focused on a lot of characters and there was a lot of suspense in the book for sure. I'm not sure where the book was heading for the majority of the book. I'm intrigued to read the next book but I'm not really that happy with this book to be honest.

Happy Reading!

This debut book was just insane.
I need the new book right now!!!
How am i supposed to wait so long.

The book plays in an old eerie town and its university campus. It took me a few pages to get into it due to all of the characters but by the end i love them all. I’mp really curious how baylas story will continue. And god julien… He is definitely my favorite character in need to see more of him!!!

The book was written really well, and even tho it is quite long i couldnt put it down and felt like i got through it fast.

This is definitely for everyone who enjoys twilight/the vampire diaries vibes.
If you need a new fantasy series this is your sign to pick this up!
And thanks to the author for giving me the Arc to this! 🥰

Oh my god!!!! No one can ever believe the fact that this was a DEBUT novel!!!!
I swear it felt as if you've been writing for YEARS now and i don't exaggerate when i say this but this book was soooo damn good and enjoyable like it has the vibes of twilight, vampire dairies, harry potter, stranger things, supernatural and teen wolves. So if you love those shows you are definitely going to fall in love with this book. Though it is a bit slow paced but the way everything is written is just so perfect.
In the beginning you might judge so many characters but by the end your perception is going to be changed, because everyone is just trying to survive. I loved the way the emotions were expressed and the relationship of Bayley and her Mom Alice is just sooo relatable in the beginning. How Larissa has such a broken humour (there were many instances but you wouldn't notice unless you yourself have one) and my fav was when she says that the architect of the house must be a man for sure because putting only one bathroom for a house housing 8 girls is such a man thing to do. The way soo many characters were misunderstood by us and i hate Emely's brother more than anything i swear. Everyone has a perfect character development and tbh in the beginning i actually felt as if Larissa was going to be a villian, I cried, I laughed, and I felt so many emotions while reading this book. Tbh i finished reading almost 600 pages in one day because of how delightful the book is and once start reading you cant stop because of how glied you get to getting to know what's going to happen next and its just soo many thoughts occur to your mind even when you are not reading about what could happen next. And to conclude i would like to say one thing Maezos actually killed it with this book and i cant wait to buy a paperback when its released and flaunt it on my bookshelf and eagerly waiting (craving) for the next book now and All the best to you and all the readers who are yet to read this book because I don't think anyone can even think of hating this book! 💕💗

oh my god I dont even know where to begin..

this was absolutely CRAZY and I mean it. a first book being this interesting when things haven't even actually started yet? insane. I was hooked and so curious that I wanted to finish everything at once and know all that happened. this is the kind of book I needed to actually get out of the reading slump that had been slowing my reading a lot.

also.. Ezra.. I was crying because WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE its just so sad.. I was hoping no one I liked would die but of course someone had to die.

wdym there are 7 books in total in this series and ONLY TWO ARE RELEASED??!! how am I supposed to wait until then.. Will be starting book 2 immediately but once I am done with that what will I do??

this author will definitely be one of my favorite author and this is just the first book.

I was really hoping to come out this book and give the author a glowing five star review, sadly I can’t do that. If I am honest this book was more of a three star for me but good reads doesn’t let you give half stars so I will round up. I have incredibly mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand it was an enjoyable read and I am confident in my desire to continue reading the series, but on the other, it felt like a chore to get through this massive book with very little reward.

Let us begin with the positives. I am truly astounded that this is the authors debut novel, the attention to detail, the complexity of the world building and the depth of her characters show how long she has been developing this series. I liked reading this book and believe it to be well written. This is defienlty an author to look out for, I am expecting great things to come. If you are a fan of things like Twilight, The Vampire Diaries or Supernatural then it’s clear this series was developed just for you. Reading this was like a warm nostalgic hug of paranormal literature. And yet the link to this kind of media was my biggest issue with the book.

People love Twilight and TVD for being easy to consume, entertaining media, this book was far from that. There is an unbelievably complex system of characters with at least 20 main characters introduced within the first few chapters. I found myself having to take notes and write down family trees just to be able to remember who was who. Then we get to the main characters themselves. This book feels like it is about Bayla and she should be our main character and yet there are over 8 different points of view throughout this book that change every chapter. Bayla is the only character that we are slowly introduced to, everyone else you are just sort of dropped in on them mid scene so you leave the chapter thinking who the hell was that??

Bayla is also a plot device, she is the character who knows nothing so that we can be introduced to the supernatural world through the things she finds out, and yet she doesn’t find out a whole lot and nobody ever really explains anything to her rendering her character practically useless. Overall this book just felt incredibly complicated and took a LONG time for me understand who was who and what was happening. It shouldn’t take me 400 pages to differentiate between all the characters and plot lines. This book has the world building and character system of the high fantasy books I am used to reading but the plot lines and dialogue of cheesy vampire TV shows of the early 2000s. It feels like the author’s writing ability is more advanced and complex than the book she is trying to write.

So how was the plot of this book? Despite how long it took me to read I did find this book really interesting. At the end of every chapter I immediately wanted to turn the page and find out what happened next. However due to the incredibly large number of points of view in this book it felt disjointed at times. I would read a chapter and be excited to find out what happened next only to find myself with six chapters from other peoples points of view and by the time we got back to the original character I was interested in several days had passed. All of the plot lines happening in this series are super interesting and seem to be developing well, there is a clear level of detailed planning involved and you ache to find out what happens next. This issue with this is the amount of points of view mean that not a lot actually happened in this book. It feels to me that the author wants to write 5 different books at once. We have Bayla, Larissa, Mady, Emely and Julie, they all have their own complex story lines with side characters, possible romances and secrets. However, having all 5 of these stories running at once means that this massive 700+ page book only gives us the opening chapters of each one and the book as whole sees little development of the plot or characters. If the author plays her cards right then this series will be an absolutely epic blending of characters and plot lines creating an entire vivid universe of Blairville, it all rests on how these next couple of books develop.

Back to more positive things. Despite the large number of characters I did find myself really liking all of them. My current favourites are Larissa, Julie and Miles. Something that shows how talented an author is, is how well they can write in depth characters. All the characters in this series feel like their own complex people with buckets of history and I am beyond excited to see how they develop through the series. I think I have spotted a few of the romances that be might on their way and I can’t wait to watch them play out.

Overall I did like this book and will for sure be continuing with the rest of the series. I simply give this review as a warning. If you are look for a light nostalgic paranormal series then this is not the book for you. This book is highly complex and the slowest of slow burns. Hopefully the rest of the series will prove it was all worth it. The author is clearly a talented writer so I doubt I will be disappointed. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced readers copy of this book and hope this review leaves you better informed about whether or not to pick up this book.

Blairville—A city full of mysteries, scandals, and secrets. When Bayla Adams, a naïve young college student arrives first on the Canadian island that Blairville lays on, she can’t imagine how wrong her presumption of the “sleepy town” is; even less so about its inhabitants and the secret connections they have with her mother.

The city’s secrets didn't only suck Bayla deep in but also me when I first dived into the story. It is needless to say Maezos did well, advertising her book as a must-read to everyone who loves The Vampire Diaries. First thing you notice, when entering Blairville, is the perfectly set ambiance and atmosphere which won’t let you escape during the whole introduction of the adventure that feels like coming home to Mystic Falls (Yes, the introduction. But more to that later).

This is Maezos debut novel, an outstanding 749 pages full of intrigue, and a character list so long that I questioned for myself how she is able to keep track of all of them. Every character, let them be so small and merely a handful of times mentioned is well developed and described. What might come off as cliché, in the beginning, is rewritten as soon as the character’s POV turns up. The struggle that every one of them is going through is nuanced and different from one another, ultimately leading to a lot of drama and conflicts. This is, on the one hand, gripping and keeps you on your heels to learn more, however, on the other hand, leads to my biggest down point in this book and probably will continue throughout the series: the amount of POVs.

The Blairville Legacies lives from the drama that all of these different characters bring into the battle arena, yet, +4 POVs (I can remember 7 at the moment) was extremely confusing and had my head spinning throughout the first third of the book (which is a lot of pages). I stopped for several weeks and kept picking up and putting the book down time and time again. Of course, one might say that aids to the confusion for most people but that usually isn’t a problem for me. To come back to the problem of so many POVs: not only does it demand a lot of concentration to remember each and every character and their conflicts with each other or their agenda, but also does it drag the story pacing out for a lot of scenes. At times, it feels like the author sent their characters on a relay race, and the POV changes as the baton relay is handed over. As much as I understand the need to explain every character’s intentions, I would have wished for a lot of parts of the story to be told through fewer POVs. ‘Sometimes less is more’ as the proverb says.

Now, for the introduction part: The Blairville Legacies is intended as a multi-part book series, therefore book 1 is merely an introduction to the whole setup. If trying to read this as a standalone book, you won’t be very satisfied but left with a billion questions and a feeling of a missing peak as in a classic 3-arch structure. There are smaller peaks to a few characters’ arch, yet, not the big clashing drama the end of a TVD season would leave you with for comparison. You must be willing to invest more to learn about the secrets of the Blairville legacies (be it time, money, or abiding unabating devotion to one of the plenty advertised future-couples). If you do, I can recommend this book (and the series) to you, for you’ll get spicy, surprising, tensioned drama worthwhile buckets of popcorn, presented to you as well as a gripping season of Pretty Little Liars.

Vivid images will await (and haunt) you, leaving you at the edge of your seat when the next revelation is waiting for you to be witnessed, and new secrets are being hinted at every corner.

Despite the mentioned problems, I enjoyed this book, and therefore rate this book 3,5 stars (rounding up to 4 stars for all the bonus content and effort put into producing this series.) Book 2 is already waiting on my Kindle shelf to be picked up :)

And if you dare, or can’t get enough while waiting for the next part—Meazos made sure to enlarge her universe with fantastic art, playlists, and background/teasing content on her Instagram channels. Definitely check that out!

4,5/5⭐

This book was my most anticipated read of the year, and it did not disappoint. If you loved The Vampire Diaries, Harry Potter, and similar stories, you'll enjoy this book just as much as I did.

Firstly, I adored the vibe of the entire town. The mysterious atmosphere that enveloped both the town and the university was chilling and captivating.

It’s worth noting that the book is written from multiple POVs. Sometimes, just when I was deeply invested in one character's perspective, it would switch to another, which drove me a little bit crazy because I wanted to know what happened next. Unfortunately, I believe we never got two consecutive chapters from the same POV, though I wish we did.

The Characters

Bayla captured my heart and soul. I could completely empathize with her. I'm very curious to see how her story unfolds, and I have my own theories about what might happen with her in the next books.
From the beginning of the book, I totally shipped Bayla and Julian. Their chemistry was palpable from their first interaction. I wish there were more interactions between the two of them, and I hope they end up together. I’m okay with a slow burn, but if they don't end up together, my heart will be shattered into pieces.

Emely’s storyline intrigues me the most, especially how it will develop. The whole werewolf pack – I’m here for it. Their story is fascinating and original, and there are many werewolves I sympathize with. Usually, I prefer vampires over werewolves, but this is the first time I’ve enjoyed the werewolves more.

However, I didn’t quite get the point of the main vampire storyline. They are mysterious and dangerous, but their storyline hasn’t captivated me yet, which is a bit disappointing.

Julie is another character I love (though I can't stand her cousin Grace who is always by her side). After Bayla and Julian, Julie’s POV is my third favourite. I’m completely invested in her story and her relationship with "Eric". That scene between them was just fire. I’m very excited to find out who Eric really is.

Mady confuses me. She feels like an outsider, but I sense that she will become important in later books. That’s why I’m okay with waiting to see how her story (with Nash) unfolds.

Lastly, the character I totally hate from the beginning and cannot sympathize with (unfortunately) at all is Larissa. She’s always too much. If she were my friend, I’d want to distance myself from her immediately. She’s very problematic, constantly invading others' privacy. She pries into everything and is way too much. Additionally, she’s irresponsible. How can a friend be so reckless, doing anything to get answers and putting her BEST friend in danger? She lost me when she was supposed to guard the door to prevent Bayla from being caught but left her there instead (I know that it was not her fault, but she could have come back for Bayla). If I were in her position, I would have returned to help Bayla since I caused the trouble. But no, she went inside the dorm and left Bayla to fend for herself.

The ending of this book wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would conclude with the party, but the last two chapters felt out of place. They didn’t fit well with the rest of the book. I understand the author wanted to leave a cliffhanger to entice us to read the second book, but I believe the book was already open-ended enough without those last two chapters.

I can’t wait to read the sequel.
To sum up, the hype was totally worth it. The plot and storyline are amazing, and the writing is excellent. The entire story about witches, werewolves, and vampires is truly interesting. I’m eagerly awaiting the second book. Overall, I give this book a 4,5/5.

Thank you to the author for this arc in return for an honest review.

Maezos's debut novel is seriously impressive—it's hard to believe this is her first crack at writing. The book blends elements from popular series like Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, Harry Potter and more making it a must-read for fans of those genres.

The pacing might be slow at times, but the storytelling is top-notch all the way through. Overall, Maezos knocked it out of the park with this debut. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy to proudly display on my shelf. It's a book with wide appeal that's sure to captivate readers across the board. Especially fans of academia and fantasy.

Hi everyone, my name is Karishma, and today I’m diving into my review of the latest book I’ve read: The Blairville Legacies by @maezos Buckle up, because this review is packed with thoughts and feels!

Characters:
Let’s start with the characters, and oh boy, there are a lot of them! Here’s my take:

Bayla: She’s giving me major Elena from The Vampire Diaries vibes, and I’m here for it.
Larissa: A biker with a heart of gold—already one of my faves!
Julian: Total cutie pie.
Emely: The quintessential bad bitch, and I’m loving it.
Nash: Ugh, he’s so annoying. Can someone just slap him for me?
Grace: Even though she's trying to protect, she’s getting on my nerves. Be real, Grace.
Julie: My sweetie needs to be bubble-wrapped—why is she so sweet and innocent?
Mady: I get that you’re scared of losing friends, but stand up for yourself! You deserve better.
Viv and her minions: Channeling serious Mean Girls vibes, and I’m not mad about it.
Emely’s Dad: I absolutely loathe him.
The Crazy Professor: He’s so unhinged, and I’m here for it.
The Deloughreys (the Vampires): Loving their unapologetic attitude and overall vibe.
Witches and Werewolves: Not feeling them as much; they’re kind of getting on my nerves.
Kieran “The Eye” and Laurient “The Bodyguard”: I have high hopes for these two.
Camille: The famous, popular, sassy queen who made an appearance—can’t wait to see more of her.

Heartbreak and Expectations:
Here comes my first heartbreak: I was shipping Larissa with Adrian, but now I see Kieran and Larissa are the couple. I’m in tears. 😭 I was also expecting Miles and Emely or even the Professor and Julie but now I’m not sure.

Questions and Theories:

Why are Julian and Emely feeling hurt when Bayla is hurt? Is it some sort of witch magic or Bayla
somehow has connection to werewolves?

Julie’s Powers: Is Julie the Domini rather than her cousin? I suspect she might have superpowers.

Bayla’s Origins: I don’t think Diana is Bayla’s real mom. The pills seem to be hiding her true nature—witch, werewolf, vampire, or something new entirely? And why is Diana working at DLSC?

Overall, I loved this book with all my heart. It’s filled with intriguing and irritating characters, and the secrets are killing me! The pacing was spot-on, and Maezos has hit it out of the park with this debut novel. If you’re into supernatural beings, secrets, and romance set in an idyllic place, this book is for you. But if you’re like me and love giving yourself anxiety while waiting for the next book, dive in now!

Can’t wait for winter to come soon and to see what comes next in this thrilling series!

I liked this book but at the same time I didn't. There were a lot of POVs of different people, and it made it hard to stay with the book. I felt as it there was a lot going on, and nothing really made sense.

At first, I thought there would be 2 or 3 POVs, but as I read further, I realised I was wrong and got a little confused on the way.

What I hated most in this book was the sudden change in the POV. It went from 1st POV to 3rd POV abruptly, and that made the book confusing and hard to keep up with.

When thinking of this, it feels like the book's structure is chaotic with all the different povs and what's happening in each chapter but I feel like it was done on purpose (maybe) to signify how chaotic the plot/theme of the book will be.

Then at the beginning of the book like maybe the first 100 pages or so, I felt like it was giving off Ginny and Georgia vibes because mother keeps secrets from daughter and daughter slowly find outs about it as it unravels or someone reveals it but then after those pages, I am completely thrown off.

Characters review:

Bayla - I feel there is a lot of potential there, and she seems like a good person despite her outbursts. I feel that she has a very important role to play and that everyone should watch out for her.

Larissa - she seems like a good friend who can be there for you, but she also seems toxic to me. She always wants to do things that she is supposed to be doing and try to get herself into trouble. I don't really know how exactly to feel about her.

Julian - there is a lot going on there and a lot that needs to be unpacked. He seems like he also has a great story to be told, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. He also seems to hide his true self behind his arrogant facade, but he also tries to protect others from him? I want to know what happened there exactly for him to do this.

Grace and emely - they seem like rule followers and will use the opinions of their communities instead of forming their own opinions. I just wished they could have been less judgmental.

Julie - she also has a story to tell. Here and there, we can get a glimpse of her past, but it is not enough. She seems like a person who is strong and can fight back if she gets more confident and is stopped being abused. I feel that she has a lot of potential, like Bayla.

Overall rating 4⭐️

This book is like walking into a cursed town with no idea what you're about to uncover and loving every second of it. The Blairville Legacies delivers a delicious mix of dark academia, supernatural mystery, family drama, and just enough romance to keep your heart rate unstable.

We follow Bayla Adams, whose life does a full 180 when she’s uprooted from sunny California and dropped into the gloomy, secret-soaked town of Blairville, Canada. Think cold air, ominous stares, and one very complicated university social hierarchy. From day one, Bayla is surrounded by:

Elitist supernatural students with way too much generational baggage

An unsettling neighbor boy who’s always nearby (for better or worse)

A manipulative “family friend” who seems obsessed with her involvement in a creepy cult

And oh yeah — her mom's mysterious past with the town no one wants to talk about 👀

🔥 What I loved:
The atmosphere: Moody, gothic, and rich in mystery. Feels like The Secret History met The Vampire Diaries and had a secret baby in Canada.

The drama: Everyone’s hiding something. The tension between legacy families is soapy in the best way scandal, betrayal, and long-held resentment.
The magic system + lore: Just enough to hook you without overwhelming you. Feels like there's so much more to uncover in future books.

The supernatural meets college life chaos — think mean girls, mysterious professors, cult-like societies, and snarky banter under your breath.

My only problem was with all of these c names, and characters, i get a little overwhelmed with all of their backstory, and world-building to keep track of.

But overall if you love dark cademia with a supernatural twist, complex family legacies, secret societies, slow-burn romance, and a town that feels like it’s hiding something behind every corner… Blairville is calling you.

I’m officially invested in this series and whatever’s going on with the characters.

I AM OBSESSED!
This book is EVERYTHING.
I seldom pick up books with multiple POVs because I usually want to focus in the main characters but this book made me want to get everyone's perspective.
Storyline:
The story picks up where it left off.Bayla Adams has moved to a mysterious town that has witches, werewolves and vampires all coexisting but there's no love lost between them.
Turns out Bayla's mom is a witch who used to live in the town 20 years ago and Bayla is supernatural too.
The major mysteries of the book are:

. what type of Creature is Bayla ?
. Who is Bayla's father?
. What happened in the town 20 years ago ?
. Can hybrids exist
.What happened to julies father?

mainly Bayla's mom is being annoying so she and her friends band together on a mystery hunt to find some answers, all while facing problems of their own

Characters:
Larissa Is A VAMPIRE 🦇!!!! AND ALSO MILES IS HER TWIN?!?!?.!??!
( ps. i loved their sibling bond and Larissa became my fav character POV )

Julian: "screams" this guy is soo clueless I can't 😭 But also what happened to his mom , mystery again??? like somebody tell me already😔

Miles is my new favorite character you can't convince me otherwise. Using comedy to overcome trauma. classic ☕

Quentin is very annoying i swear VERY VERY ANNOYING! The only character i have a problem with because why you acting like a 16 year old ? GROW UP???

Also I'm just out here rooting for miles and emely, bayla and julian and I'm hoping Diana stops being such an annoying person and comes clean in the third book becuse miss ma'am has some explaining to do 🫩

Like many others, I was absolutely enamoured by idea of this book and loved the marketing. Once I started reading though, that feeling started to fade away.

Whilst I love some good world building, the writing was far too descriptive for my taste. A lot could have been summarised in a more succinct way to keep that magic going. I'm an avid fantasy reader so am used to world building and multiple POVs, but there were just far too many people to keep up with here. I completely lost track and felt lost through a good chunk of the first half of the book. As well as this, a lot of the "conflict" felt slightly childish and left me wanting more that showed the deep rooted conflict between dynasties. Call me crazy but I was after more mature or even violent drama that really drove it home.

The overall idea is brilliant, and I know with a few more edits the Blairville world could be reborn. 749 pages is a huge feat but I truly believe it could be cut down significantly and still convey the epic story we're all after.

I'm all for supporting new authors, especially independently published ones, so I don't regret trying this book despite it not completely being for me. If the author ever reads this, please know this is a review written with love and hope that you continue upwards on your writing journey.

**EDIT - completely forgot to add i would've loved a map of Blairville and a family tree for each family! They're never essential but i do think they make fantasy reads a bit easier to keep up with :) **

Alright, let's talk about *Blairville Legacies* by Maezos! This debut novel had so much potential, but for me, it felt more like an introduction to all the people in Blairville. The story was packed with nonsensical fights between various species, and that’s pretty much it. 🤷‍♀️

I’m a huge fan of fantasy and romantasy, but this book left me scratching my head. There were so many questions, and we got zero answers. I don’t mind the trope of founding families—usually, it’s amazing! But here, it felt like the author was trying way too hard. Every member of these founding families was introduced, but none of them felt substantial.

The campus drama? Totally childish, even among the grown-ups. 🙄 Nothing was clear—what is the story focused on? What’s the big picture? It all felt very superficial to me.

But here’s the thing: despite all the confusion, I still liked the book. It was a romantasy, and it kept me hooked. Plus, it pulled me out of a long reading slump, and for that, I’m grateful. 🙌

I’m really hoping that the next book in the series steps up its game and gives us some context about Blairville and its true problems—other than all the species just hating each other. All in all, as a debut novel, it was well-written and enjoyable. Can’t wait to see where Maezos takes us next! 🌟📖

About the book,
My interest for this book initially started a few months ago when I came across the authors instagram account and ever since then this book has been on my list. As a debut novel, the author did a great job writing and sequencing the story. I have read over a thousand books so far and i know how hard it can be to write multiple povs and carry the story from the pov of all characters but author definitely did a great job with it

Now about the book couples,
I had stalked all the reels posted regarding the book by the author on her instagram so i was really excited for a lot of couples but was sad to find out that this book is more of an introduction book and a lot of couples probably wont be linked together for a while.

Bayla and Julien seem to be the talk of the town among all the people who read the book but imo Larissa and Adrian + Julie and Professor + Mady and Nash were the ones to look forward to. Special Mady and Nash…LIKE i cannot wait to see what happens next in their story😭

Over all, it was a great introductory book to a new world and i cannot wait to get my hands on the second book of the series. Fingers crossed that the author drops the next one in a few months. 🤞🏼

I love this world already, it has everything I was looking for and more

So excited for the next book
This is a 7 book planned series

Vampires - Werewolves - Witches - All Hate each other
Mystery - Murders and more
Multiple POV
Academia (main: university setting, also an entire town with political conflict)
humans exist too(they don’t know about supernatural)
Rules and Treaties

This gives me the same vibes as the secret circle tv show, but BIGGER

Character Faves I Am Leaning Towards

Bay( something going on with her, its soo cool and i want to know what she is, who her dad is? her powers? literally more about her)

Emely ( I am excited to see her with an enemy, since when she hates, she HATES!)

Julian (cutie patootie )

Larissa( Shes Reckless, a cool smart idiot, and I think Kieran will match her vibe 100%)

Miles ( hmm something about him that I like and that I dislike, but i cant put my finger on it)

Mady ( I feel her pain, honestly her pov confused me at first, but now I just want to see her reaction to what happened to her and how everyone is with her etc)

Fuck did the author do a good job promoting the book. From excerpts and character studies, and book storyline showcase. I was so hooked, that I decided to read it. How I wish I never would have stumbled upon the author's Instagram. The book feels like it was written by a 14 year. All the characters are one sided and annoying. I could not Fucking stand the main character. I wanted to dnf, but there was so much hope in me that the book will get better. Spoiler alert, it didn't.
And why are there so many povs??? Nobody needs that. Besides nothing happens in them. Just some random stuff. "Hey I'm texting this guy and nobody knows. okay bye." "oh this person gave me cake for my birthday, but it magically disappears when I fall into the bush when attacked by ravens" Except the cake disappearance was not brought up, in fact nobody cares that a cake suddenly disappears and is never mentioned again.
We get magical lines like " Not to mention tall, way too tall compared to a small and delicate girl like me" dude....

I finally got to read this and reviews it, bear with me, since it's the first time I'm doing this.

I pick this book because how the author has been promoting it in Instagram, I was going back and forth between chapters and her Instagram, so I can know who is who, what is supposed to happen. But, unfortunately this was just an introduction book and it had a confusing prologue, unbelievably complex system characters with at least 20 main characters. Rivalry between all of them. Prenatal issues, suspense, which you can’t wait for it be conclude it. Vampire, Werewolf and Witches. You are bound to judge all of them and maybe understand some of them by the end. Thought the saddest thing for me was, that I was rooting for some character to be couple , only for me to find out that it won’t happen and I’m supposed to forget about them. The one that supposed to happen better be worth it. Another thing was, a character going through something because of author cruelty, that character was barely there in the book, but I was about to cry for it, READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!

If you love vampires, werewolves and witches this is for u.....and this book has everything u want enemies to lovers ....hot professors 🔥 and the story is so interesting from the first chapter...every character has their own story which u will be more then eager to find out...the only problem I had was that it's just too many pov's at the same time it's a little difficult to focus on one character and then suddenly jumps to another's story which so different from the previous one and sometimes u don't like all the characters or just don't want their story ...well it gave me a little headache to be in so many characters stories it's not like they are not good or intresting...they are that's why I read it lol ...but it will just easy to focus on less pov....and yes everyone in blairvelle is a main character with their own secrets and most importantly every single guy is hot ...so u should definitely read it

I absolutely loved this book! Being a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries, I decided to give it a shot, and oh, I fell head over heels for it.

My favourite character is Bayla because she’s as clumsy and clueless as I am… I think I’d act just like her if I moved to Blairville🍂, maybe a little more dramatic😅
Other characters also stole my heart, like Quentin and Julian, while some totally got on my nerves. Emely, for instance—her obsession with her family was exhausting. And Larissa, seriously? Bayla is your friend; why are you putting her life in danger?

I also love Julie and Eric together, my babies 🥹

And as much as I love Bayla and Julian as a pair, a part of me wanted something different for her—maybe someone from a vampire family? But no complaints, they’re absolutely adorable together 🥹

This book is a masterpiece,
Thank you author for passing such a wonderful book as your debut work..
thankyou 🖤

I have no words for this book, but I have to describe it anyhow. Here are the words to describe this masterpiece:

The story begins with a girl named Bayla who just moved to her mother’s hometown, a town shrouded in mystery. The numerous missing cases only add to its eerie atmosphere. The mysterious town is divided into three territories: Vampires, Witches, and Werewolves, who are sworn enemies. The most intriguing part of the book is the town's university, where all these enemies come together. They can't stand each other and are constantly at each other's throats. The mystery deepens with the discovery of the missing people, who turn up dead. Each species blames the other for the murders, but the true culprit remains unknown.

Bayla herself is shrouded in mystery, harboring secrets yet to be revealed in upcoming books.

I can't wait for the upcoming books❤️

Holy moly! This book is so good. It has the vibes of The Vampire Diaries, Twilight, everything witchy/werewolf/vampire-y, with the rich family histories and intricacies you see in the Shadowhunter books. If you like multi-POV urban fantasy, and dark academia settings, you will eat this up. It was so intriguing to see the Blairville families and species interact with each other -- there was major drama, and it was apparent from the start. I really loved watching Bayla's story unfold, and the other POV chapters only added to the immersive world. I'm not usually great at keeping up with so many different POVs, but it's pulled off beautifully in TBL, and it was so easy to follow from start to finish. Highly recommend this book -- it's action-packed, mysterious, and full of unique, lovable characters!

As far as spice goes, there's one open door scene in Chapter 65.

You know when a book is amazing if you have a love and hate relationship with the characters.

"Blairville Legacies'' hooks readers with its rich characters and an intriguing storyline that promises even more to come. Each main character, like Julie with her powers and mysterious admirer, or Bayla with her troubled past and town secrets, Julian's mysteries about his mom’s death and Emely's ambiguous role keep us guessing, while Adrian's charm adds a morally gray hits different. Miles being Damon Salvatore core, adds to the drama, and Larissa with her carefree boss bitch attitude.

The book's intricate details hint at a larger story arc, setting up future clashes between the DeLougrey brothers and the Copeheans. With three families' legacies intertwined, the stage is set for a thrilling journey of unraveling mysteries and dramatic confrontations.
