The Gladiators of Outer Space #1

All The Rage We've Ever Lived

Rate this book
Being abducted by aliens isn’t actually the worst thing that happened to me today. That’s because my captors have taken me to the Arena, an illegal space station where they force slave gladiators to kill each other for the entertainment of wealthy patrons.

But I’m a nurse, not a fighter. And I've no intention of hurting anyone.

That’s when I meet Vennkor, a massive warrior covered in scars, proof he hasn’t lost a fight. And Reke, a genetically engineered gladiator, who’s never seen the world beyond the Arena. Vennkor is gentle despite his intimidating size, while Reke is all claws, sharp teeth and uninhibited curiosity.

They’re complete opposites, but they’re both determined to protect me. From our captors. From the other gladiators. From themselves.

And soon I’m not only plotting my escape. I’m planning on taking these two alien men with me.

If there's one thing you should take away from this book, it's that one of the alien men has jizz that tastes like Pop Rocks. But don't be fooled-- ALL THE RAGE WE'VE EVER LIVED isn't exactly a walk in the park sort of read. The story opens with our human protagonist, Nina, strapped to an operating table while an alien looms over her like the monster in a creature feature. Then the space-ship-- because that's what she's on-- is boarded, and MORE aliens come and take her away.

But not to safety, no. Instead, she's taken to a space station-cum-gladiatorial arena, and thrown into one of the thousands of prisons beneath its surface. There, she meets her two cellmates, Vennkor and Reke. Vennkor has ram horns and Reke has cat ears, and both of them are absolutely terrifying. One of them might want to eat her. But Nina is less terrified of them than she is of the sadistic guards, and their mutual need to survive binds them as they look for ways to postpone their inevitable death and escape to freedom.

It took me a little while to get used to the author's writing style, but the action and tension sucked me in from the get-go, and I loved the heroine so much. She's a nurse, with the gallows humor of someone who works in the medical field and has seen literal life and death situations, and you can see her grit and inner-strength while she's imprisoned, and how it attracts the interest of the warrior aliens who could quite easily destroy her.

It's been a while since I've read a science-fiction romance and this reminded me why I like it. The aliens that verge on monsters (but still somehow manage to surpass human men), the terrifying planets and otherworldly cultures, and interstellar pew-pews and battle scenes really add a lot of zest to what was already a pretty compelling romance. If you like Regine Abel but wanted something darker with slightly heavier stakes, this is going to be your book. Just a note: it ends on a pretty wicked cliffhanger.

I picked this up as a freebie during a stuff your kindle day and am surprised about how good it is! Usually the books I pick up during those events are pretty bad, but I thought this was actually legit.

All three characters were pretty unique and had a clear voice. Things were a little over explained but never redundant (except for that crash that killed Nina's parents, that was relied on a bit too much). The book spanned only a few days but didn't feel rushed, and nor did the feelings. I thought everything was presented in a fairly believable way.

Overall, I actually really liked this. Felt pretty fresh/interesting for an captive alien romance. It ends on a crazy cliff hanger so I'm going straight into the next books. I'm also going to check out this author's other series to see what happens to the other humans. It wasn't perfect but I definitely think I would recommend if you're in the mood for this type of book

Reke was my absolute fave character in this book. He was such a cat and playful in the creepiest way. Venn was very stoic and emotionally stunted. Nina was hot headed but compassionate. The three of them together made an interesting throuple in a dark world. Looking forward to the rest of the story!

Spice: 2/5

Triggers: abduction, enslavement, torture, violence, gore, death, threat of SA, involuntary filming and distribution of sex, gambling, mentions of involuntary lab experiments, mentions of dementia, mentions of parent death, references to car accident, references to historic forced adoption

OMG OMG OMG

I didn’t think that this was going to be a multiple-part series about the same couple that ends in a freaking cliffhanger!!

I am impressed by Nina and how she conducts herself throughout this whole experience. With everything stacked against her, she refuses to back down and even finds friends among the other captives.

Even against the worst odds, she finds comfort and friendship and the aliens on either side of her begrudgingly form a friendship, having recognized Nina as their mates.

Amazing story thus far, not too slow or drawn out- pretty interesting all the way through. I can’t wait to read book 2!

I could not put this book down! I was hooked from the beginning. And I have to say that Reke and Venn were the main reasons for my interest. I love those two aliens. They're so different from each other but equally swoony and sweet - well to Nina anyway. Reke's savageness paired with a bit of innocence was very fun to read. And Venn is such a grump.

This "world" is vicious and scary and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. While there were a few things that the characters did or descriptions that didn't really make since, none of them were major.

I don't know if this would count as a slow burn since they didn't have a lot of opportunities to actually do anything early on but it does take time to get to the spice. There isn't much weirdness as far as alien parts go but I really enjoyed it when they got together.

What I did not care for was THAT CLIFFHANGER 😭 I need book 2 NOW! I will be keeping my eye out for the next book because I need that HEA.

Interesting concept but the heroine’s personality didn’t work for me. She’s trying very hard to be sassy and outspoken but comes off as demanding and entitled in a situation that just won’t allow that. Also never understood what was so special about her that this 2 badass guys got head over heels with.

✨ARC Review! I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.✨

I wish each of her kisses would leave a scar so that I could trace the progression of her touch over my body, instead of being able to trace my own destruction.

All The Rage We’ve Ever Lived is the first part of a new duet. This book was harrowing, emotional, and left us with a cliffhanger that I’m dying to see the outcome of. The story was captivating and I really enjoyed it! This gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

This book hurt… I cried way too much at the end due to the cliffhanger. I just wanted everyone to be happy 😭. I really admire the FMC, Nina. She’s so determined to escape the gladiator arena and take the MMC’s with her too. Not only that, she’s constantly thinking of the women in the pods she saw on the ship before it crashed (sound familiar?!). She’s just an overall good person and cares about the people around her.

Reke and Venn were interesting. I loved how unique they were and how we got their backstories of how they came to be part of the fighting ring. Reke had no choice as he’s a lab grown alien and it makes me wonder how he will fare outside of the arena should he get free. It’s all he’s ever known! Venn’s story breaks my heart as we learn he was somebody’s replacement (aka my favorite character in the other series). This big lump just needs a huge hug. You can tell he’s compassionate and caring, but has to hide it inside so he isn’t seen as weak.

A lot of this book was the build up of Nina being abducted, placed in the arena, and her meeting Reke and Venn. The spice is pretty minimal as they’re separated by cages for most of the story. However the spice that is there is so hot! Sharing is caring 🥵! I’m very anxious to see what happens next with their dynamic and whether or not they can escape.

I really enjoyed the world building with alien politics sprinkled in. It was interesting to see how this illegal fighting ring keeps going and continues to be profitable.

This book is a spin off of the Outlaw series. In my opinion I would start with those as I don’t know how this duet ends.. and also because it’s my favorite series 😬. SERIOUSLY GO READ THEM! There’s a lot of call backs to the Outlaw series as Nina and Venn are connected to those characters.

This book ends on a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER! There’s not even a HFN. Honestly the cliffhanger has me delusional and making up endings so I can pretend everyone is happy 😂. If you can’t handle a cliffhanger then I definitely recommend waiting until the next book, All The Love We’ve Ever Shared, comes out this fall! Please make sure you check the TW/CW for this book too! The themes are definitely darker than the Outlaw series.

Why choose, gladiator aliens, virgin aliens

Nina is abducted and taken to an arena where gladiator aliens are forced to fight to the death. Here she meets Vennkor, a stoic but gentle giant who has suppressed his emotions for survival, and Reke, a cat-like alien, who is genetically modified and has never seen the world outside of the arena.

It's so refreshing to see an alien book with an Australian FMC. I laughed at Nina using words like "fuckwit" and "dipshit" as insults and loved the mention of drop bears.

Reke was precious and I loved to learn more about him as the book progressed. I thought that Venn was a little one-dimensional and would have liked to see more.

I think the book could have used further editing to bring up my rating. Aside from the grammatical errors, the pacing seemed off with some sections dragging more than others.

A dark and emotional tale of love and survival! This book had me holding my breath from start to finish. The atmosphere was gripping; it was realistic, giving you an idea of what it's like to be a prisoner under a gladiator arena where any day could be your last. Such impactful storytelling! The characters were believable, and it was so touching seeing them get to know each other and find support in the horrible situation they were in. I love these guys, and I can't wait to see them get their HEA in the next book!

All the Rage We’ve Ever Lived features Nina, human woman kidnapped by aliens and two aliens, Venn and Reke. All three live in an arena, where their alien captors make them fight in gladiator style fights to the death.

This was fine. The world is weird and you have to roll with what’s happening because most of it makes no sense. The alien captors change their minds often and no one (characters, reader, maybe author) really knows what’s going on. The romance is fine but also weird.

I did immediately start the next book though, so…

description

I'm kinda wrecked right now bc I was patiently waiting for the HEA (and to get some gory revenge) and I got this??? Homegirl, Catman, Blue Hulk, and ME deserved it at this point! 😩😂

Ok all jokes aside, this type of book is why I love alien romance. Even if I wish it were longer so we could discover more of each protagonist and have a little more love, it was also very thrilling the whole time and I CAN'T WAIT for book 2! See how all this turns out 🔥

~ SPICE 🌶️ ~

The spice is not the most explicit (like light details and scenes are not so much about how it feels than how they feel if that makes sense 😂). Still, it's why choose with 2 aliens and a lil' special anatomy going, so I'm down. ✨

Also, said aliens are virgins 🫠❤️‍🔥

I picked up All The Rage We've Ever Lived after seeing it recommended by several readers on Instagram. The premise was thrilling: alien abductions, space gladiators, and the promise of an action-packed adventure. The book started off with a bang, immediately drawing me into its high-stakes world of intergalactic battles and intrigue. The idea of alien gladiators battling it out in outer space was fresh and exciting, and I found myself eager to dive deeper into this universe.

However, as the story progressed, I started to feel a bit lost. The central relationship between the female protagonist and the two male leads developed quickly—perhaps too quickly for my taste. While fast-paced romance can sometimes add to the excitement, here, it felt a bit rushed and, at times, awkward. I couldn’t tell if it was the pacing or just the dynamic that threw me off, but it didn’t fully click for me.

The book had its thrilling moments, but I found myself skimming through the spicy scenes. Normally, in books like this, these scenes are engaging and fun, but in this case, they didn’t hold my interest. It lacked the spark I usually look for in alien romances, where the "out of this world" nature of the relationships often adds a unique charm.

Towards the end, I realized I was no longer enjoying the characters as much. I also found myself missing the vivid descriptions of the alien worlds and environments. In a story set in space, I love being transported to new and strange places, but this book didn’t fully capture that sense of wonder for me.

Overall, All The Rage We've Ever Lived had a promising start, but it didn’t quite live up to the expectations I had. While it’s exciting and fast-paced, it lacked the depth in world-building and character development that I crave in sci-fi romances. Still, I can see why some readers might enjoy the action and intensity, but for me, it just missed the mark.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my voluntary, honest review. Thank you to the author for allowing me to ARC read for you.

“I inhale deeply, filling my lungs as far as they’ll go, and then exhale slowly.

You are going to escape. And when you do, you’re going to steal the Hov’s two best gladiators.”

Like the women of the first series, Nina was abducted with them, but she didn’t crash. She ended up somewhere else, in a gladiatorial ring. Two gladiators take an interest in her, and she in them.

This is one of those novels that hits all the right points for me. A slow burn romance, a woman that doesn’t have to choose between two hot gladiators, some angst thrown in and a driving need to see how it’s all going to end.

I loved this and I can’t wait for book two!

All the Rage We’ve Ever Lived by Carlotta Page

I have no idea how I got lucky enough to ARC review this book, but I did and I am so happy about it.

All the Rage We’ve Ever Lived follows our FMC, Nina, as she realizes she’s been kidnapped by aliens. She finds herself thrown into an illegal alien fighting arena, stuck in a cage waiting for her turn to fight. While stuck in this cage, she has two neighbors- Reke, a cat-like, sneaky who likes to play games and Vennkor, the hard exterior, mushy interior, behemoth of an alien male.

Nina isn’t afraid to get answers, and so she continues to ask questions until someone answers her: Vennkor. As the story continues, we see a slow attraction and attachment between the two, while Nina also gets slowly attached to Reke. This trio’s relationship is written as a slow burn, MFM, why choose, and with extremely delicious tension. When I say this is a slow burn, I mean we get no action until about 68% in, but man, oh man, does the excitement build within the reader the whole time.

This is the first part of a duet, please be warned of that. We also get left on a CLIFFHANGERRRRR which is truly killing me because we have to wait until September for part 2 😭😭 I will be re-reading to get another dose of Reke’s fun-loving charm, and Venn’s gruff, yet cinnamon roll, personality.

I received this story as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. THANK YOU!

Holy Crap – what a cliffhanger! The author knows how to keep you hanging. I can’t wait until the next book.

The first in a duet in The Gladiators of Outer Space, this book introduces the female human that was removed from the Hov ship introduce in the Outlaws of Outer Space. You don’t need to have read that series to enjoy this book. I do recommend them, they were fantastic to the point I own paperbacks and the kindle copy, and there is a few little easter eggs in this story.

Nina finds herself trapped in a cell, being stared at by a rotating group of aliens. Either side of her are different aliens, Venn who was also abducted from his home world and Reke who was designed in a lab to be the perfect gladiator. Despite their best intentions the two competitors find themselves drawn to the little human, who is determined to find an escape and take the two males with her.

A lot of the book revolves around Nina’s understanding of her abduction and the arena. The relationship develops slowly, neither of the males are sure about Nina, or each other. The cages keep them separated until their captors decide to profit on the males’ attraction to Nina. The spice is amazing when it happens, and you can feel the tension.

Now the countdown until the conclusion – I’m looking forward to seeing how the author resolves the cliffhanger as it was a doozy.

3.5 stars rounded up.

SUMMARY:
Nina is a human who wakes up to find that she's been abducted by aliens. She's opinionated, fiery and completely out of her depth. While in her cage she starts to bond with her fellow cellmates, Reke, a lithe, genetically-created cat-esque super gladiator and Vennkor, a massive and scarred blue alien.

THOUGHTS:
- Nina was a pretty good character, a little annoying and obtuse at times but I liked seeing her and her two mates bond and grow and how the personalities and relationships evolve over the course of the book.

- I loved Reke and Venn, they're like opposites but they suit the heroine so well and kept me reading. Venn is long suffering, a veteran gladiator who's seen his fair share of injury, a stickler for details and more reserved and Reke is catlike, intense, curious and playfully lethal

- The spicy scenes were pretty good! I wish they were longer and more plentiful (so many of us read just for that) but it wasn't bad by any means.

- length, I think the length was fine but some parts, especially since most of it takes place in a cell block, just felt too drawn out and dull IMO

- I HATE cliffhangers so that part annoyed me to no end, but I'm excited to see where the series goes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Not Your Average Alien Abduction (and That Cliffhanger?! Rude.)

I grabbed this book because the cover was gorgeous—shallow? Maybe. Regrets? Absolutely none. This was my first read by Carlotta Page, and she came out swinging. I thought I knew what I was getting—typical alien abduction romance—but nope. This one took a sharp left turn into “wait, this is actually really good” territory.

The writing is smart, the plot is engaging, and the pacing? Chef—okay, I won’t say it, but it was good. I was hooked from the first few pages, and by the end I was emotionally invested and yelling at my Kindle like it personally betrayed me.

And let’s talk about that ending. That cliffhanger was just rude. I closed the book, stared into the void, and immediately started Googling when the next one comes out.

Bottom line: it’s fresh, it’s fun, it’s surprisingly emotional, and now I’m officially along for the ride. Buckle up.

I'm sorry lol what was this?

Long story short: the heroine was deeply, annoyingly, truly, obnoxiously stupid without any self-preservation instincts.

If an alien creature grabbed me from behind and started to choke me, I wouldn't be saying, "Oh, this is divine because I am just starving for touch in this alien space cage surrounded by aliens who abducted me and who are going to use me for nefarious alien means and probably kill me because ALIENS and I definitely shouldn't be scared because I'm a nurse, did I say I was a nurse, I am totally a nurse, did you know I'm a nurse, and I'm going to stay calm because a hand around my throat by an ALIEN is comforting." Like, are you dumb? Probably the most TSTL character I've ever seen in my life.

The only saving grace was Reke (anyone else think Reek, as in Ramsay Bolton's broken creature that was Theon on Game of Thrones? I chose to pronounce his name Reiki bc that was pulling me out lol). But he still wasn't enough to save this book.

And you know what the sad part is? The sex scenes were atrocious and like two seconds. I read alien smut for the SMUT and the good plot and characters, and if an alien romance is lacking the smut, plot, AND tension, then it's to the dump for you!

Skip this one, for the love of the gods.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

So glad to have discovered this author!! Wonderful characters - nice to have some human ladies that aren't the default American - and packs in a lot of emotions. Nice to have some human-ish aliens and some alien-aliens, and different takes on how an intergalactic society works.

I love the contrasts between Venn and Reke, and how Nina is drawn to both of them, and provides balance to each of them in different ways. It was good to see her acknowledging the realities of her situation and being scared, but finding her own strength as well.

I knew it ended on a cliffhanger going in, and while I'm not normally a fan of those, or stretching out a couple/throuple over multiple books, I think this one works as a nice duology. Taking a small break before diving into the next one so I can savor all that happened in Rage.

Great story, loved the male leads

The world building is great, loved getting to know each male lead and falling for them in different ways. The action and suspense in the story keeps you engaged and reading. Thank you for making the Female Lead not a damsel in distress, she’s strong in her own ways and but melts for her men.

Spice level is a 3/5🌶️ which is a bummer because after all that buildup I was hoping for some more details. It went quick. Perhaps book two will dive into that part of their relationship more. Overall loved the story and definitely will read the sequel.

got this in an attempt to make use of the free kindle day promotion thing. unfortunately, like with kindle unlimited, the options are on there for a reason. derivative, grade school level prose, not engrossing, one of the love interests is named Reke (lol), and it continues my much aligned convention of alternating first person povs... i dont understand why romance novels do this; who likes this?!

genuinely, though, you could do MUCH worse (and i have). there is nothing uniquely bad about this book worth writing home about, and i'm a harsh critic on the best of days, so don't let me stop you from picking this up.

3.75✨ definitely a really interesting read if you’ve met aliens who used to be gladiators (cough cough Ice Planet Barbarians). Nina is a resilient main character with a huge heart.

Her paired with two infamous warriors was such a cool idea. Venn is stoic with so many emotions, I’m so happy he found Nina to help him learn to live a bit. And Reke is an adorable, murderous cat who cracks me up.

I really wish there was a bit more action than saving it for the last 20 pages. The emotion was real and intense. The title talks about rage and boy it was heavy with it.

The ending is absolutely illegal, though. How dare you leave me with such a cliffhanger 😭

Mostly just got the ick from this book with reke’s peen, all I could think was “sounds like a cat or dogs red rocket” and that’s not sexy.
There were so many moments that the action following what was happening in the scene did not make any sense to me. I had to check I didn’t skip pages
There’s also no way she is a nurse and never preformed cpr on someone

But the ending. Are you kidding me. I went through all that just for a stupid stupid cliff hanger. And not even the good kind.

It’s a good thing I was trapped on a plane and couldn’t download a new book or I wouldn’t have finished this.

I'm rounding up to a 3 star, but I probably would give it more 2.5. The concept of the book is really cool! Kidnapped human FMC taken to an alien planet where they capture other aliens and make them fight gladiator style. Such a cool concept!

But honestly the plot goes nowhere. 90% is spent inside the cages with nothing really happening. We have two clueless virgin MMC's, which I did like. But the plot just dragged with nothing happening and then it ends on a massive cliffhanger that makes no sense.

I feel like the pacing was off. Don’t get me wrong I loved the characters but we didn’t get to know them at all, besides in random spurts of memory or random intimate moments. There was no real background. The descriptors for the world and setting were bare bones, and their romantic pacing was wild. They went from strangers to NOT in like 20 pages or less. It just left something to be desired, I don’t think I’ll be picking up the second book.
