I learned something new in nearly every chapter. A lot of tools to help you progress. I am going to go back and do all the worksheets. I say it Is a better approach for me because I need help understanding what I need to do different and I believe the material gives me that
If you are looking for a recovery resource that isn't 12 step based, I highly recommend SMART. SMART rejects the idea that anyone is powerless over addiction and offers concrete tools for getting through daily challenges and resetting relationships with addictive entities.
This is an annual re-read must for me! Though the term "recovery" feels loaded, and many people feel it only refers to those with alcohol or drug use disorders, it actually refers to anyone that is unhappy with an aspect of their life but wants to and is active in seeking and cultivating that change. The SMART Recovery Handbook is perfect for the person that does want to change aproblem behavior, but doesn't know how to and those who have made significant change, but want some new strategies to keep things fresh. The science-backed tools in this book have gotten me out of some dark moments in my life, and I firmly believe that it can truly help anyone that wants to make any meaningful change in their life, no matter how big or small the problem is.
Comprehensive, Inclusive Approach to Addiction Recovery
The bio-psycho-social model this book offers those interested in recovery is comprehensive and provides practical tools and strategies that make the seemingly overwhelming process of recovery more tangible and manageable. It offers a more optimistic view of the disease that invites addicts to make positive change instead of focusing on defects or a spiritual requirement. Support is also given for family and friends to be involved in the process.
Manual is full of useful tools and guidelines to aid in recovery and maintaining your sobriety. I would recommend this to anyone dealing with addiction. The online meetings they offer are very useful to reinforce the techniques outlined in the manual.
This book is a FANTASTIC alternative to AA, NA, CA, OA, etc. and forges the way ahead for recovery WITHOUT religion, or spirituality. The God idea is nice but I dealt with a huge addiction while going to Church, reading the Bible, and taking part in various other faith-based activities. The AA program was alright, not great, but what were my other choices? Now we DO have another choice. If you’re looking for some solid CBT/REBT/DBT/etc techniques, this Handbook is for you. Do yourself a favor and get this book pronto if you need help overcoming your addiction(s). You deserve a better life and this book shows you how to get one, using your regular old thinker. I’m delighted I found it. Everything makes so much sense, and no Higher Power to lean on who may or may not take your addiction away. Enjoy!
I would like to express my profound appreciation to Wizard Optimum Hackers Recovery for their exceptional competence; they are truly heroes, and I wish I had met them quicker before contacting other hackers for assistance. I am posting this comment for those impacted by cryptocurrency investment, mining, and trading scams, and if you read it, you may be able to retrieve your hacked or blocked cryptocurrency investment.
Smart recovery is a great resource for anyone trying to change their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors around addiction to anything. It teaches real tools that can be used at different stages and times during recovery. Smart recovery is Science based and effective long-term. They do not use labels like alcoholic or addict. The tools help you find the reasons for the addictive behaviors. Having the physical worksheets is great, and the book doesn't cost much.
I really like SMART Recovery for their use of evidence based treatment. Using CBT, REBT, DBT and ACT combined makes this an effective treatment for issues with bonding to alcohol or any thing. I hope other will read this when they de ide they need help. Highly recommend the online meetings as well.
recommend book great alternative to God based programs
Great program if you are seeking an alternative to God based programs such as AA. Or something in addition too. Covers way more than alcohol or drugs basically most if not all addictive behaviour. A great read
