Otuz yaşını tek başına hastane terasında kutlarken Liz'in dileği "Sevebileceğim biri" dir.

I thought this was a fantasy book, because of the title. But I still enjoyed it. 3 women that share the day of their birthday, but, different ages, and, lives. Each one has to deal with difficult choices and be able to grow and get better. It`s very cliche but heartwarming.

Interesting and complex but well-planned and well-executed plot. Three women - three birthdays (30, 35, 40) - one life-altering night. Their lives intersect momentarily during the course of that night. All are dealing with intense emotions as each sees this birthday as pivotal in their lives. Not relaxing or enjoyable, but compelling and engaging. Hard to put down!

It's never to late to change your path in life, nor is one ever too old to make a wish. This book follows three strangers, three women, who all share one thing in common – they all share the same birthday.

First we meet Liz Kelly. She's a nurse freshly off her shift, celebrating her thirtieth birthday alone on the hospital rooftop with a cupcake. Recently dumped by her boyfriend, she has only one wish – to find that special man to fall in love with and be loved back. Before she can make her wish, she is startled out of her reverie by a handsome stranger.

Next is Carole. She's a mother and the (trophy) wife of a politician. Turning forty brings with it the fear that her husband may soon be on the lookout for a younger upgrade. Looking at the guests at her party also makes it glaringly obvious that it's more like a political campaign to hob nob rather than celebrate her. Her children didn't even stick around to enjoy the party, but she can't blame them. She has devoted her whole life to her husband's career and neglected them. When she catches her husband in a compromising situation with a younger woman, she runs away to the one place she ran away from and vowed never to return – back to the shabby neighborhood where she grew up and where her estranged mother still lives.

Lastly we have Angela. She comes from a large family who in turn all have families of their own. Except her. Her and her husband have spent many years and a lot of money trying to get pregnant. Failure is not an option. When her husband receives his annual bonus, she's certain he'll agree to another round of IVF. Instead he surprises her with tickets for a romantic cruise. She's devastated by his unwillingness to give her her dream. She escapes from her party with only one question burning on her mind – is a life consisting of just her and her husband enough for her, and where does that leave them?

Each woman's tale of self discovery cycles through from beginning, middle to the end. They even catch a glimpse or exchange a word or two with one another at different stages of the story but that's about the extent of their awareness of one another. Each story brought a few tears, but none moreso than Liz and John's. He helped her "live a little" while remaining oddly cryptic about himself. All my guesses turned out to be way off base. Their night of hanging out and experiencing new things leads to a night of passion. The morning after, John has disappeared leaving Liz a heartfelt note and a confession. But she won't let her wish slip away so easily.

Carole's journey was predictable, but her struggle to make sense of her life felt believable. I wasn't sure what decision she'd make in the end, but I knew what I was hoping for. Out of all three ladies, I think Angela had the most touching story. I'm glad the author took this arc in a positive direction and made Angela's husband a man of worth, and the proverbial rock to lean on. His disappointment with Angela was honest and not unfounded. Of course both partners have to be on the same page and not dole out ultimatums if they expect their marriage to work.

The epilogue was perhaps a little predictable, but this whole book felt like a tale of hope and faith, that I wasn't surprised at all. While the ladies never officially meet, we get a glimpse into their lives one year later. They're all celebrating their birthday and a year of changes, coincidentally all in the same restaurant. A very uplifting story well told.

What are the odds of 3 women having the same birthday, being in the middle of a life crises and making life changing decisions. Another Freehy story that will keep you turning the pages until it all comes together at the end. Freehy never disappoints.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It follows three women who all happen to share the same birthday. Liz is a nurse who meets a stranger and they spend the night doing things that they normally wouldn't do. Next we Angela who is married and is having a hard time getting pregnant. To her not having a baby is the end of the world. After meeting two young girls she starts to accept things for what they are. Lastly, we have Carole. She is in an unhappy marriage. She knows she hasn't always been the best mother. after reconnecting with an old flame she decides to do better for herself. The best part is that all three women got a happy ending.

What a disappointing purchase. Granted t was only $3 but still. Book was way too short. Just as the stories were heating up, boom, here's the epilogue amd the happily ever after. Won't be spending money on these again.

I don’t know why it took me so long, but I’m now firmly on the audiobook bandwagon!

This was a quick listen about three women who all share the same birthday, but are all going through different things.

Liz is turning 30. While celebrating alone on the roof of the hospital where she works as a nurse, she meets John, who then talks her into a series of fun activities for her birthday.

Angela is turning 35. She wants nothing more than to be a mother, but after eight years of infertility, her husband is ready to make a new plan for their life.

Carol is turning 40. Her husband has thrown her a huge, fancy bash at hotel to celebrate, but as she looks around the room she realizes none of these people are here for her - they’re here as potential supporters for her husband’s upcoming political campaign.

All three women spend the evening evaluating their lives and make decisions to change the path they’re on. With an epilogue that lets us catch up the all the heroines a year later, this was a thoroughly enjoyable listen!

Sweet and short story about decisions in life.
We meet 3 women who share birthday on same day. Each of them has 1 wish:
- to fall in love
- to have a child
- to grow closer with family.

Every one of them goes throught the birthday night with new discoveries and toward their birthday wishes- but not in a way they were thinking it will turn out.

I loved the story, it was mix of the three women, but they are somehow connected with each other.
Nice read.

A Secret Wish is the story of three different ladies who all have the same birthday. It follows that one day for each of them and was honestly not as good as I would have liked. Everything was too coincidental and easy to fix and wasn't very realistic. Some slight spoilers ahead.

First we have Liz who is turning thirty and just wants to find love like all her friends. As she is sitting on the roof by herself having a little party of one a guy walks out. A guy who then takes her out for the night on a great adventure. He gets Liz to open up some and try new things. Of course they instantly fall in love, but he has some secrets that she doesn't find out until the next morning when he leaves while she is sleeping. Everything works out though, but really I never felt the connection between the two of them. It didn't seem like Liz would be so head over heels for this guy in this short amount of time. I didn't buy it.

Then we have Angela who desperately wants a baby. I don't really know what that is like as I have never wanted a child, but the way she was written just didn't seem believable. I know it can be devastating when you try and try and nothing workings, but she seemed too over the top. She has just turned thirty five and her window for having a baby is closing. They have tried in vitro and it hasn't worked. They spent their life savings on it and when her husband gets a bonus she assumes they will try again. Only he doesn't want to. He can't go through that again. Apparently she won't consider adopting or anything like that - she has to actually carry the baby. Then everything changes when a young girl tries to rob her to get money for medicine for her younger sister. Angela ends up going back to their house and taking them home since their mom is no where to be found. She falls in love and that is it. They will foster some kids and she will be happy. Done and done. That easy to get over having a baby yourself. Too easy. Again not at all believable the way it was written.

And finally we have Carole. She grew up poor and has made it her life's goal to have everything she ever wanted. She married well and had some kids, but the kids always came second to her husband. On her fortieth birthday she realizes she doesn't have a relationship with her kids and her husband may be cheating on her. She runs off to her mom, the mother she has not spoken to for ten years because her husband didn't want her to. Sure the mom did embarrass them once, but it seems a bit harsh to just cut her off like that. Especially when they were so close growing up. So she goes to visit memory lane and discovers that maybe she doesn't have everything, she is not happy, and maybe she needs to change that. Add in a kiss from the guy she has always loved and she is a changed woman. Yep, again way too easy to change and have everything be sunshine and roses.

The last chapter is a year later and all three women are happy. Everything worked out for all of them. And most of them remember the other ladies from brief run ins with them the year prior. It was all just too convenient and simple. The writing didn't make me believe anything that happened. It just was not as good as I had expected from this author.

Kitabın Adı : Geceye Fısıldanan Dilekler
Yazarı : Barbara Freethy
Orjinal Adı : A Secret Wish

Carole'in ise hayatta istediği her şey vardı.

This book is three short stories all told simultaneously in one book. It centers around three woman who share the same birthday and their birthday wish which changes their lives in ways they don't see happening.

Liz wishes for love and meets a stranger on the roof of the hospital. He ends up taking her out for a night on the town and she finds herself opening up to him in ways she hasn't with anyone else but he's hiding a bit of a secret himself.

Angie is having a very hard birthday. All she wants is to have a baby but after years of trying and several fertility treatments her husband wants her to give up her dream of having a baby. She encounters two girls who are in a bad situation and finds herself helping them out and learning more about herself and her relationship with her husband.

Carole is turning 40 and when she looks around the room she realizes that while on the outside her life with her politician husband looks great on the inside she isn't very happy. Her husband is possibly having an affair, she has grown apart from her children and admits she hasn't been a good mother, and she hasn't talked to her own mother in over 10 years. Carole leaves the party and goes back to her old neighborhood where she reconnects with her past and discovers that she may have been chasing the wrong dream most of her life.

I liked each story and thought that the author did a great job moving from each story without confusing the reader. It was hard to connect with Carole and a little more depth and history would have been nice for her character. It's a quick read with a obvious happy ending.

This was my first Barbara Freethy book and I will definitely try more of her books.

Three women from San Francisco share the same birthday and one unforgettable night that changes their lives forever. They each make a wish, believing it can't possible come true. Yet this night connects them in unexpected ways.

One night in San Francisco, three women make a birthday wish believing it can't possibly come true. Liz is turning thirty. A successful nurse, she has a good career, but no man to share her life. Angela, a member of a large, loving Italian family, is facing thirty-five with no baby in the nursery. Eight years of infertility treatments have put a strain on her marriage. Will she have to choose between her husband and having a child? When she is mugged by an unexpected assailant, her life takes a new turn.

Three women living three very different lives, all have the most amazing wishes come true on their shared birthdays. Liz the youngest at thirty, is wishing for love and meets John the man of her dreams. Angela who is thirty-five has always wanted a baby and has had a hard time getting pregnant, which is putting a toll on her and her marriage to her sweet supportive husband Collin. Carole a lovely forty year old grew up struggling with a single mom always wished for a better life. Even though she lives a life of privledge, she has an empty marriage , she's a stranger to her kids, and is nothing but a trophy wife to her cheating husband. By fate they all have the same birthday and are all in desperate need for their wishes to come true. This book was an amazing read and was very heart warming, I didn't want to put it down. Once again Barbara Freethy has excelled in her writing skills, she knows how to make you feel like the characters are people who you know and care for. I loved it, and am ready for the next in the series.

A really emotional, lovely journey of 3 women. This took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting it took be so relatable. I really enjoyed it.

“I’m thirty – the big three-O. I don’t know why they call it that. It’s not as if O stands for orgasm.” Good grief. Had she said that out loud?

I have a terrible chocolate addiction. If only they made a patch for that, I’d be set.”

“It’s been a bad night,” she said quietly, realizing that his frustration had to do with more than just Laurel and Kimmie’s arrival. “I’m sorry that I ran out on the party. And while I want to say I could be happy in a marriage without children, I don’t think I can. I love you, Colin. It’s not that you’re not enough – it’s that I’m not enough. Something is missing inside of me. I ache. And I don’t think that feeling is going to go away. I need to be a mother.”

This is the story of three women and the rather tenuous common link that they all are born on the same day. They all experience changes in their lives and for each one it leads to something new and positive. There is the suggestion that change although unnerving does not need to be negative. When we see them a year later with positive outcomes it forms a satisfying ending to the story.

The idea of three women and three different men stops this story falling into the predictable boy meets girl story. There is mystery suspicion and conflict in their relationships which keep the story moving forward at a steady pace. Spreading the story over so many characters does limit the development of individual characterisation, but the story is pleasant and heart-warming.

Oh, this was such a sweet and uplifting book. I got it as a free kindle book and read it today. It felt like I was reading a Hallmark movie if you know what I mean.

Three women make wishes on their birthday which is the same day. They are ages 30, 35 and 40. The night of their birthday changes them all and at various times, they all bump into each other that night.

The epilogue warmed my heart as all the women's wishes came true and they all ended up in the same restaurant a year later celebrating their birthday and leading much more full lives.

As previous reader said too short. At first I thought the ladies were friends but realize by fate they had the same birthday and ran it each other only a handful of times. Liz feels heartbroken turning thirty and being single. Angie is thirty five without any children and feels empty though she has a husband. Carole seems to have it all money wonderful husband(so it seems) and two children but she is missing what a true family is. All three stories are intriguing and fascinating though I enjoyed Angie story the most. Would have love a little more but it was a sweet short quick read.

I would say this book was a solid 3.75 book. I believe it is only available in eBook form. Three women, three birthdays and one unforgettable night that will change their lives forever. This was a quick, easy read that was very enjoyable. The characters were likable and drew me in to want to learn more. The story takes place over a 24 hour period and was interesting to see how their lives intertwind.

Three strangers with the same birthday. Liz Kelly is a nurse and turning 30 years old. She is at the top of the hospital alone with her cupcake celebrating her birthday. Suddenly a man says something to her scaring her and making her drop the cupcake. They talk and she find out his name is John. He talks her into letting loose and trying something different. She agrees and their adventure begins.

Angela and Colin Payne are married and Angela is celebrating her 35th birthday. She wants a quiet evening with her husband to talk about doing another round of in vitro. Unfortunately when she gets home her Italian family planned a surprise birthday party for her. She finds out her husband spent his bonus on a cruise for the two instead of doing a third round of in vitro. She is heart broken. When someone says they need more wine she quickly says she will go get it even though her husband doesn’t want her to leave. She drives around and ends up going to her Catholic Church she went to when she was young. An old friend is now a Father at the church and they talk. After she leaves him fate steps in.

Carole Prescott is turning 40 years old and her husband threw her a big party at an expensive hotel. He wants to run for office and is sucking up to a lot of people. She looks around and realizes she doesn’t know anyone. Her two children left before she even blew out the candles and she doesn’t see her husband. She goes to look for him and finds him down a hall with a young 25 year old women in his arms. She runs, leaves the hotel, and jumps in the limo outside. She grew up very poor, but had a loving mother. All Carole wanted to do was get out of there and find a rich man so she can give her children everything she didn’t get. She ends up going to see her mother which she hasn’t seen for ten years. She starts reevaluating her life and what she really wants.

The three stories were very interesting, and it was neat how they all ran into each other through fate on their birthday night. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it.

Three women, all strangers, all unhappy with something going on in their lives, all make a birthday wish before they blow out their candles not knowing what the rest of the night would bring.
Angela wants nothing more in life then to have a baby of her own, so much that it is tearing her marriage apart. She feels that her husband is abandoning her dream of becoming a mother. She walks out on her own birthday party. She meets to little girls who need her help so she takes them home. She realizes at that moment she doesn't need to have a child herself she just needs to have children to take care of.
Carole, grew up the daughter of a single mother who tried her hardest but could not give her daughter the finer things in life. Carole decided she was born to be more than what she was born into and left everything she was behind, including her mother. Now she is at her own birthday party, her children left before she blew out the candles, she is certain her husband is having an affair, or about to and all she wants is her family back.
Liz is a successful nurse but alone. All of her friends are getting married and having babies but she is alone. Her last boyfriend and her broke up not long before but it was for the best. They were really only together for the convenience. Liz meets a man on the roof of the hospital she works at and ends up having the night of her life.
Three women have decided that they do not have the life they want, and they each made a wish to change their lives. A year later they end up in the same restaurant and realize they have seen each other the year before and it seems fitting they have the same birthday. They realize they all seem a lot happier this year.

Every now and then I pick up a light romance as escape from the heavier themes I often read, and somewhere along the line I came across "A Secret Wish" by Barbara Freethy. She's a bestselling author and I shouldn't criticize success, but I have to be honest: this book played out exactly as I expected it would.

Three women from three different places in their lives happen to be celebrating their birthday on the same day. We accept this coincidence because San Francisco is a big place and odds are good this could happen.

The rest of the book, though, follows the women on predictable paths to predictably happy endings.

I won't rate the book lower because of this: it's well-written and I did skip through to finish it, so for those reasons it rates higher than some of the dreck I read that I can't finish.

For readers who enjoy the sorts of love stories we fantasized about living through when we were teenagers, this is your book.

This was a fantastic read I loved how the author took three women who didn’t know each other and tangled their lives around each other. They never knew who the other one was but they did know they shared a birthday. No matter how old you are or what your life is like you can always change it so you are happier. Each woman is sad for a reason but they find what they thought they wanted isn’t always the bets. Sometimes if you don’t let life run you, it works out for the best and just the way you wanted it to.

I thought this was very touching, emotional with insight that really touched me. I loved the characters, the plot was very believable. It is filled with such fear, saddens, but will bring a smile to your face. I am so looking forward to see where the author is going to take this series. It will be a story I will read again.
