I grabbed this thinking it was going to be a cheesy themed cookbook but it’s actually filled with such delicious looking recipes. Much more of a cookbook than I expected and I certainly love that. I’ve already got plans to make the autumn roast vegetables tonight!
Zadbano o piękne i estetyczne zdjęcia, dlatego z przyjemnością będziecie chłonąć zaserwowane Wam obrazy.
This fantastic cookbook, inspired by the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, presents delicious recipes that are both magical and accessible. The book is divided into sections by meal type (starters, drinks, desserts, etc.). Each recipe relates back to the book series, whether it is to a certain scene, character, or Court. Dishes that were specifically mentioned in the series, such as Feyre's soup, come to life with easy-to-follow directions. The food photograhy and design of the cookbook is stunning. Several recipes also have an "Advice from Alis" pop-out, which is such a fun inclusion. It is clear that the author put a lot of thought into the recipes. I truly felt like I was back in the world of ACOTAR while going through this cookbook. I can't wait to make many delciious meals while pretending Rhysand is waiting at my dining room table.

I opened this book on a whim and kind of just for fun at B&N and was actually really surprised??? I couldn’t help but flip through a few pages and found literally so many recipes I’d *actually* cook. I have a culinary degree and am a cooking teacher, and it’s STILL incredibly rare I buy cookbooks. I prefer reading online reviews and have burned by bad recipes in cookbooks before. I especially don’t buy cookbooks I likely won’t have in my classroom (my kids don’t need to know about my romantasy books). But the recipes are well written, pictures are gorgeous, and the themes are fun.
I already cooked several recipes, including Beef Stew (if the cooks are to be believed), cheese and chive scones (delicious), bacon/gouda/leek quiche and will be making faerie wine for my ACOTAR-loving friends tomorrow.
Overall, and very surprisingly, I recommend this cookbook! Every recipe I tested so far is really good. It’s not often I’m blown away by a cookbook.
This is a great cookbook in its own right, made even better by being themed! My only complaint is that it is unofficial. SJM licenses many creators to make authorized themed items for her series and I'm disappointed that this book isn't licensed. However, the recipes contained look both good and beginner friendly - a message at the beginning states that she wanted anyone, even cooking newbies, to be able to make her recipes and I think she accomplished that. I haven't personally tried any of the recipes yet but they use relatively easy to find ingredients. Each recipe has a blurb about the inspiration from the books, which scene or character the recipe is based on, as well as some figurative language to help you imagine sitting with the characters and eating alongside them. The back of the book also has themed party menus and game ideas to help with any party planning! Overall, I would recommend this for any ACOTAR fan.
If you want to impress the girlies at book club--like blow their minds away with your dedication--then you should invest in this cookbook. There are two things I judge a cookbook by: ingredient accessibility and levels of difficulty. A Feast of Thorns and Roses never calls for you to go out and find something extravagant like swordfish (e.g. Joshua Weissman), and there is a broad range of simple to complex recipes. Feeling worn out and aiming for a quick surprise? You need some Magical Morsels. Ready to impress? Hit up Feasts Fit for High Fae. As someone with a dairy problem, I would have liked one or two more recipes without butter or sour cream, but the dairy-free community knows our substitutions. And Chelsea Cole starts her book off by granting us all permission to take these recipes and play.
This book is beautiful, paying homage to ACOTAR on every page. There’s full page pictures of most of the recipes, tips and tricks, information about what inspired the recipe, and even a party guide at the back of the book with suggestions for courses and games that could be played at a themed party or event. The character-inspired cocktails look beautiful and I’m excited overall to try so many of the recipes in this book. The biggest drawback for me is that so many recipes use milk and eggs which in this economy, I rarely keep stocked.
Now I want to reread the whole ACOTAR series looking specifically for mention of recipes and foods. This could be a great way to introduce my wife to the series!!
I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Chelsea on Two Chicks and a Plot Twist, my bookish podcast, where we got to deep dive into her inspiration behind the book, what Rhysand would cook for Feyre (yes, it’s swoon-worthy), and what she’d serve to the Inner Circle. Her creativity, passion, and love for the series shine through on every page. The recipes are not only delicious, but they also feel like a true extension of the ACOTAR universe.
I picked this up at the public library while browsing cookbooks, and will admit to not having yet read the series it’s based on. Decent looking recipes, some of which might be really good. Photos of most but not all recipes. Lots of eggs and dairy, some nuts, for those like us with allergies.
