This book was awesome.
I am a pretty massive fan of David Walliams’ books so I was excited to get my hands on this one. I am happy to say it was everything I had hoped it would be and so much more.
One of the things I love most about David Walliams’ books is that they are a little bit naughty, and this one is no exception. For staying up past bedtime, and the occasional smashing, this book has just enough bad behaviour to entertain young readers without being inappropriate.
The fact that this book shows a wonderful relationship between a boy and his Grandma was really sweet and something that you don’t see a lot. Add to that the dinosaurs, music, and funny plot line, and I can see this book becoming a fast favourite for young readers and their families.
As with all picture books, you need illustrations and this book has the most wonderful illustrations by Adam Stower. The illustrations are bright, bold, and engaging and perfectly capture David Walliams’ story. The combination of David Walliams’ words and Adam Stower’s pictures make for a truly wonderful reading experience; this partnership is definitely a match made in literary heaven.
I honestly don’t have a bad word to say about this book and I am so happy to have it on my bookshelf.
Grannysaurus by David Walliams is a must-have for all young readers and their families.

We’ve enjoyed all of the David Walliams picture books we have read, so we were excited when the Jonathan Ball Publishers team sent over the new book Grannysaurus to add to our collection. This funny picture book is guaranteed to bring some laughs to story time, with brightly coloured illustrations and a fun story that will capture a little one’s imagination.

Spike is a young boy who doesn’t want to go to bed, especially when he’s having a sleepover at his granny’s house. After sneaking downstairs one night he discovers she has turned into a Grannysaurus and that there’s a dino disco on the go. Spike joins the party and boogies with the different dinosaurs, but when he’s spotted by Grannysaurus he runs away. He can’t find a good hiding spot, however, as the dinosaurs are everywhere in the house. Will the threat of a T-Rex arriving be enough to send him to bed?

As with the other Walliams picture books there are lots of onomatopoeic words which makes reading the story entertaining. If you have a little one who loves dinosaurs then be sure to check the new Grannysaurus book by David Walliams and Adam Stower out!

Bright and lively illustrations bring this story to life. Dynamic Granny and her dinosaur friends help to teach her grandson a lesson about the importance of bedtime. The colorful pages and fun story will entertain little ones and also persuade them to go to sleep!

Nothing like a story that could possibly scare your little ones into sleeping. There were some fun parts and I’m sure if you have a child who is dinosaur obsessed, they will enjoy it.

Full of colour! And lots of good old dinosaurs names to wrap your mouth around.

This book is great for onomatopoeia examples for my teaching friends.

Think my favourite image was Spike eyeing Rexy lumbering down the street, gave me the text to text connection - reminding me of The BFG coming down the street under the dark of night, funny the things that connect.

Granny gets her spunk on in this not so subtle 'now get to bed' tale. There is the slightest chance little ones will be too charged up to actually sleep after this jolly little jaunt around Granny's place.
