"Boris is my favorite author on Nosleep, he's always killing it with his stories!" "The security guard series is the best one ever!!" "I love the subtle connection between each story." "Like R.L. Stine, but better." "I want to see this book as a Netflix mini-series!" "No one can scare me like Boris."
Both traditionally and self-published, Boris is a prolific writer whose horror novels often find themselves on the #1 bestselling ranks. With the books he has published, he is quickly becoming a big name in the horror community.
His stories have been narrated by famous YouTube and podcast narrators, including MrCreepypasta, CreepsMcPasta, DrCreepen, etc. His book, Tales of a Security Guard, is currently in the works to become a short film.
This was better than the last novella, but things seemed to happen too conveniently in some of our character's story lines. Not that it's all necessarily bad, it just seemed to fall into place for some of the story lines. I also found some parts of the book too predictable. That's not necessarily making the story bad, I just anticipate what moves the author's going to make.
I'm still liking James' POV with Angela...even though I fear that's about to take a turn for the worse. Krista's still going off the rails. A mother's love, ya know. Pierce continues to get caught up in crazy situations. Heather and Abby work to survive the more villainous side of humans and Daniel and Melissa want to make the dream work even knowing there's no way out. And then there's Ben. He gets a bit of comeuppance in this book. However, that dude is like a bad penny and I have a feeling he's going to turn up again. If he makes it to the end...-shakes fist-
Anyway, on the last novella of this series. I have a feeling it's going to make me very angry. lol
Other people are always more dangerous than the dead. Gonna be interesting to see how all these different storylines get tied up at the end and please let me finish this before my current zombie media hyperfixation fizzles out.
The fact that our characters now have to fight both humans and zombies has made this series so tense and so packed with action. Bacic almost always kills most of his main characters, so I'm surprised we've lost so few. But spending so much time with them has really made us care for them to the point where this is a masterpiece.
Countless deaths and violence lays around their feet, as each group witnesses more bloodshed. Heather is desperate to reach her sister, and the shock of her face when Rita comes to her rescue is nearly laughable. Believing she was a traitor who sold her out, she executed both men holding her captive before helping Heather to a weapon before setting their sights on Andrew. As he fatally stabs Rita in her stomach, Heather is pitted against him as he holds Abby hostage with a gun to her temple. When Abby bites him, it allows enough of a distraction for Rita to plunge the knife through his calf. While Abby holds the gun, it's only after Heather tells her that she would pull the trigger. With the fall of another safe house, they're forced to run as they remain the last two from the police station. As Angela barely avoided being executed, she watched Father Mathew and Ben fight for control while James and Ricky fight to get through the locked door. Dying from an infection after being cut on a rusty part of the tunnels, Father Mathew gave the ultimate sacrifice and buried two bullets into Ben. Fatally wounded, only a few minutes would remain before he passed away. While Angela, James and Ricky leave the Priest behind, they encounter the constructed walls that surround the city. Picking over corpses of inflected and humans, they were horrified when the military began shooting to kill them. Seeing Ricky killed, James and Angela barely managed to survive as they took shelter from the zombies. With nowhere left to go, they set their sights on Welco Labs hoping they could provide an answer, a cure, anything in the land of the lost.
The monster with the red eyes taking you over.
Krista is growing more and more desperate for her son Nelson as she watches him wither away further as he refuses to eat. Offering his favorite meals, nothing seems to get him from the catatonic state. Carving off flesh from the decomposing body of their neighbors holds no appeal, not even the liver she harvested from the recently killed man outside stairs anything for her son. Growing angrier and more impatient, she wishes her husband Eric was here as she's losing her sanity locked away inside all alone. When the doorbell rings and she's confronted with James and Angela, a horrible plan is hatching in her mind. Living people, something she's yet to try to feed her son is so tantalizingly close. All she needs to do is answer the doorbell and invite them in. Visibly uncomfortable looking at her disheveled state, they almost decline coming in at all. But the threat of the too quiet neighborhood forces them to take safety with this strange woman. Across town, Team Alpha is still shacked up in the radio Tower with Owen who promises his contact in the military is coming for him and his fellow survivors. Forced to turn over their weapons, Owen sets them all up as Captain Reynolds returns from the dead with a vengeance. Executing all other survivors, Including Owen, he turns his sights to Lincoln and fatally shoots him. With only Shepherd and Pierce left from the five man team, they learn the unfortunate news that they are infected. Being put under, they begin losing consciousness as they are reloaded into the helicopter with their fates remaining still unknown.
Sigh, again with the super short book? (Audio version due to being visually impaired. I appreciate the option) AND another cliffhanger? You're killin me smalls. I get that you're doing that to make more money....but brutal. I feel like I just started this one an hour ago and now it's already over. I am enjoying the multiple groups of character stories going on. There's one that's sorta typical so I'm totally not into that story but the rest make up for it. Also, I thought I knew what was gonna happen when two of the groups finally met up, but then someone died which totally surprised me. I dig the twist and not doing the expected thing. I'm enjoying this series and am a little bummed that I suspect the next book is the conclusion. I believe all of these books could have been combined or it could have been split into two books but shrug, I'm not the author. Good stories sir.
There have been some ups and downs throughout this series but this was maybe my second favorite of the novellas.
Ben finally gets what he deserves, rest in piss bozo!
The one character I thought 100% wouldn’t make it or wouldn’t be any trouble for anyone has become unhinged and I am so here for it.
I’m also glad Heather finally realized (although a bit too late) that she can’t just baby her sister. I think there is a good lesson about the infantilization of folks with autism.
I’ve been enjoying watching everyone’s timelines cross now that we are nearing what I’m assuming is the end of the road and I’m hoping it’s a satisfying conclusion.
I wasn't wowed here. I expected more excitement. Things were happening but I wasn't on the edge of my seat. I felt like Abby had more sense than Heather here. She got that puzzle back and was okay with staying with Andrews group until she realized he wasn't right. she also had the guts to fight back. Who's watching who?? I'm not clear on Rita though is she alive or not? There is only one surprise twist but you'll have to read it for yourself. Hopefully book 6 is better.

Heather has been captured by people she trusted she still must protect her sister Abby. Her captors are vicious. James and fellow survivors think they have a safe place to hide. Who can they trust? What are their safe havens hiding? Can anyone escape this city of zombies? Great characters, a few, are despicable ones many you love. Intense story.
I'm hoping this ends with a bang. All of our characters are in trouble. Except for Krista who IS the trouble. We haven't checked in with Daniel and Melissa lately. I can't help but wonder if . It wasn't very satisfying and somewhat anti climactic. The books (novellas) in this series are short, fast reads. I recommend.
Man, this series has me hooked. It never fails that in the midst of a disaster or whatever flavor of apocalypse, psychos will be psychos and backstabbing and double-dealing never stops. Love this series though, and I can’t wait for the next one!
I have read plenty of zombie books but this is a totally different angle. Can't put it down starting book five read the others in one day! Not having a life is so cool!
Army guys shouldn’t have turned in their guns and yet again civilians shouldn’t trust the government. And don’t trust creepy people just because they seem human lol.
I thought this was another brilliant book. Without spoiling the book a character in it shows how desperate they are. I've got the next book so I'm going to start it straight away.
It was insane and one particular character made me smile when it happened. I can't wait to read the finale on Sunday. I wish it didn't end because, this zombie series is the best I ever had read in a long time.
The next thing she knew, she was on the floor, her lower lip painful, Ben standing above her. Angela quickly scrambled to her feet, but Ben’s foot connected with her abdomen before she could stand up. She was back on the floor, gasping for air.
These stories are fairly well written and reflect sad human behavior during stressful situations. Still headed towards a catastrophic ending. You’ll want to continue reading!
Another page turner!! The storyline was super easy to follow and I truly enjoyed it. This author has a way of bringing you into the story like no other
Finally some of the survivors figured out the military isn’t on their side when they reached the checkpoint. More survivors crossed paths with each other and I’m so excited to see what happens.
How long can the survivors sustain themselves? Pierce and his team come across another team of survivors who give them hope of escape from the infected town. James and Angela realize that they have to find another way out as one of their own has been shot at the border by the soldiers. Krista is hellbent on saving her son's life. Heather and Abby realize they have been duped and are in grave danger. The author aptly depicts the anguish and hope of the survivors and their determination to keep on living. I found their plight heartbreaking.
