ALL HE TAKES (A Vivian Fox Suspense Thriller—Book 1) is the first novel in a new series by mystery and suspense author Ella Swift.
The Vivian Fox series will keep you on the edge of your seat with a gripping cat-and-mouse narrative brimming with chilling surprises and featuring a captivating yet haunted female protagonist. With constant suspense, action, and surprise twists, this series is sure to have you reading well past bedtime. Fans of Melinda Leigh, Kendra Elliot, and Lisa Regan are sure to fall in love.
Art thief, caught and now working for the other side. An interesting concept, a thief catching thieves. Liked the out line, but not sure about substance. Will read the next book in the series to see if the characters grow.
Wow not sure what I expected here but it certainly got off to a flying start! Vivian Fox is an art thief, she steals very expensive stuff and one dark night whilst stealing coins from the spanish armada valued at 6million dollars, she would be picking up a tidy share of the profits, something went disastrously wrong. She had been set up and found herself surrounded by armed men, a lot of armed men. One tasered her and she found herself in the back of a van facing a woman who was from Interpol and wanting Vivian to help her track down a group who were stealing swords, very expensive ancient swords. She politely declined, then Elise Garnett said then she would be spending 30yrs of her life in jail. Or she could help them. She was being targeted not only because she had been a professional art thief for some years now and was earning big money and liked her lifestyle, but she had been trained by the FBI.
Well it was a bit of a no brainer here, so she signed up to help and then met her new partner, Michael Sterling. Sterling was a suave englishman and she found him easy to get on with and trusted him. Together they began tracking down the sword stealing team and also as a sideline the bodies of several murdered young women, who had been tortured to death.
Very good story, very satisfying ending and I would like to read more of this series!!
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book. This is book 1 in a series, apparently with this main character, who we meet at the start in the midst of attempting a very large heist. This, being her specialty, takes on a twist when she is caught. Her choice in front of her is jail or play her get of jail card offered. That offer doesn't sit well with her as she struggles, but accepts the lesser of two bad options in her opinion. She is now working for "those people," the very ones who she had always run from to now catch others. Irony is a B@#**! :)
(This is no different than a judge giving a young man the option to join the service or go to jail. It was done a lot in the past. I have no idea any longer.)
This is a fast-paced, interesting, and unique book. Good characters. Not bad on the audio.
Absorbing story, interesting characters and with a redemption theme running through it that has you rooting for one of the main characters! Having said that, the insight into the warped mind of the killer is disturbing - it reveals a psychotic personality who is simply evil in the extreme. An insight that in itself is horrific! Thankfully, the stories focus is on the personality of the good guy and the eventual triumph of good! Looks like there is much more to come out of the interaction of the two Interpol agents in future books. The book looks like a starter for ten for future adventures!
Honestly I didn’t know what to expect from this book, due to the fact I’d never heard of the author, let alone read any of her work but I was pleasantly surprised at how good this story is and how seamlessly the story progresses. I’m not really one for giving the outlining of a story, I personally think that the author is best suited at doing that with their blurb and I think that a story is far better if you are left to your own imagination but what I will say is which side of the law would you take if put in Vivian Fox’s position?
I found this to be a very interesting start of a series. Unlike all the other FBI type books I’ve read, this series gives you the other side of the story - beginning with the criminal view. I really liked how Vivian’s expertise as a thief added substantially to the storyline. Her observations and ideas about the case carried weight because of her background. I would like for her and Sterling to stay as partners because I liked their interactions.
A great read!!! Writing style is a smooth read whilst being tense and gritty enough for a crime book. For a first book in a series, the introduction to the characters was done very well, just enough information to help you understand them and also keep you intrigued. The pacing of the plot was good and the writing of diaglogue was believable. All in all, a good book! Has made me want to buy the rest of the series =)
An easy read book. Pretty straight forward and interesting enough. Would have been better if there were twists and turns or a little bit of mystery to it. Keep the readers guessing, that sort of stuff.
Character development is good but could have given more description on how forensics work. Need more research about the forensics.
Vivian Fox was really good at stealing high value items until she gets caught. Her choices are jail or help find a group of thieves that have robbed collectors and then kill a witness. Originally in Europe, but are in USA now. Will they find this group before they return to Europe? Enjoyable read.
One of my first reads of this year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn’t as low as a 3 by any means but for me, it just didn’t quite make 4⭐️
If you like a short, nice, easy page turner then this is the book for you! Well-written with a captivating storyline. Art thief turned detective - book 1 of 5!
Good premise for the story. BUT! THE TYPO ERRORS WERE SO BAD THAT I ALMOST QUIT READING I HAVE BEEN READING BOOKS FOR ALL MY 77 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. Get a proof reader.
This book was a fabulous read. The book was quite intriguing and you never knew what to expect. The author kept you wanting to continue to read what was going to happen next.
Very interesting story about a Captured master thief being turned and recruited into Interpol. There she partners with a charismatic agent to find a group that has committed several Large scale robberies I had to finish in 1 setting
Loved the book and Vivian Fox. Smart, thinks like a thief (that she once was),very detailed, details details details - I like that. Story moves along. I am looking forward to reading the series.
The story follows international art thief Vivian Fox, who is arrested during a daring heist. Faced with a lengthy jail sentence, she is given an ultimatum: help Interpol stop a notorious group of thieves or remain behind bars.
one of the most badly written books I have ever found on Goodreads. I'm beginning to think they recommend books to give authors exposure. I'm going back to legitimate sources for recommendations. BTW I didn't get past page 80.
The story was excellent but I never before have had so many errors in the text. I am sure there were more than fifty errors I came across when reading this book.
I enjoyed the suspense that Fox was feeling in the story line, I was surprised at the end about her father store. Look forward to reading that story line.
An art thief who now catches art thieves. It sounds good but it failed to hit the mark. Not aided by it being a short read it doesn’t make me curious about future books.
Quite a good theme and idea although probably aimed at YAs. Too much explanation to enable an adult imagination to run free and too much unnecessary explanation.
