Healthy, positive attitudes are within reach with the help of this guidebook. Peale offers inspirational advice for problems like apathy, doubt, and fear.
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (1898–1993) was a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking".
Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He has earned degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University (where he became a brother of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta) and Boston University School of Theology.
Raised as a Methodist and ordained as a Methodist minister in 1922, Peale changed his religious affiliation to the Reformed Church in America in 1932 and began a 52-year tenure as pastor of Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan. During that time the church's membership grew from 600 to over 5000, and he became one of New York City's most famous preachers.
The effect of this book to me is just like on The Power of Positive Thinking. Peale has this ability to lift my spirits high and make me believe that I can as the world says I can't. These six attitudes is what you need to be successful and I will keep all these in mind to bring out the best in me. Thank you Norman Vincent Peale!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would totally give this book an extra star if I could bc it's sooo good!! There are so many new ideas and perspectives and a ton of great advice, it's going to be so hard to memorize it all though lol 😅🥲 Definitely going to read the others in this series!!
A pretty nice self-help book. Small, but the book is great. It gives you hope in God once more. But you know, it's Norman Vincent Peale's. I won't suggest it to a sceptic person.
It was a struggle to complete reading this short book because of how bad it really is. The author has laid out 6 attitudes which are not mutually exclusive (eg: a positive person will be confident and expectant) - Positive, Courageous, Enthusiastic, Peaceful, Confident and Expectant, and that's my first gripe with the book.
The content within each chapter is common sensical, lacking substance and laden with solutions that involve praying to Christ. It's impractical and orthodox, set in olden times when people looked up for solutions rather than looking down at their own hands and doing work.
Getting through the last chapter is a struggle in itself where the author has laid out 10 common actions for 11 problems one might face (eg: Failure, Sorrow, Worry etc). These actions begin with a verb (eg: Force, Do, Counsel etc.) and continue with an explanation that doesn't really make sense.
This short guide written by Normal Vincent Peale is a must-have and reminds us that God is our center in everything we do. If we let go and let God, he will take care of the rest. . To have success in life, it’s how you let love start within yourself and be able to love others. We need to be enthusiastic in everything we do and let God be present in our lives because, without him, we can never know what success and happiness truly mean. . My takeaway from this book, always have faith in everything you do with God in your heart because if he is present you will never be lost, troubled, unhappy, or unsatisfied with your life. Always have faith in Him.
This book not just highlights some but the key elements of having a successful and healthy fulfilled life and the steps to how to attain them. Anybody and everybody can create the life of their dreams and Mr. Peale gives us those secrets which can change lives. I loved this book and the way each topic is described concisely and beautifully is way that resonates with oneself. 💖💖
Short stories, Q&A, Famous personalities quotes, and above all Bible quotes made this book a readable. Readers at time might think it as a sunday service. If you want to feel the real taste of this book, pick one topic and practice. Read the entire book but pick one topic. Unless you pick one, you can sense a dryness in this book.
Whenever I feel down and out & feel like struck in a rut,and looking for a bit of impetus, the only author I can think of is Norman Vincent Peale.faith and positivity can be seen all over his writing.I consider it as a blessing to read his works.
The author is credited with a number of books on self improvement. This one belongs to the same genre. It analyses and prescribes and has boundless faith in God.
Peale's way of writing has a cogent way of making an indelible positive effect on the mind of the reader and this book does the same , just like all his works.
