Did you hear what happened to Lady Irene? Yes, Lord Fortson's wife. She went to a slave auction with him. That's right, she watched him buy a new slave. Beautiful creature, I heard. Everyone's saying that he paid an outrageous price for it. But a titled lady going to a slave auction was only the beginning of the scandal. When she saw her husband buy that gorgeous slave, Lady Irene went right around the bend. Completely stark, raving mad. And you know what she did? Scandalous! No one ever heard of such a thing. I knew her, you know, and I can't believe she'd do something like that. But everyone says she really did it. And now, I heard that someone wrote a book about it. It's tells all the filthy details for anyone to read. Lady Annabelle told me that it's downright pornographic. I've just got to get a hold of a copy and hear the whole story.
Well, I've read my fair of series but this was not one I'd usually even notice. But it came up on my feed so I thought I'd give it a try. First off, (not that this has that much to do with story) can I just say how ridiculous the blurbs are for these books and the covers don't help much either~
Ok, now that that's out of the way. Although this series is far from perfect, I found myself carrying on, even though as you can imagine there is sex, sex, sex in every manner possible, because I was kind of intrigued by the world the author set the books in. And I really wanted to know more about that. It was like some weird dystopian society but like it was 200 years back in English Society where Lords and Earls and Knights ran the government and no commoner could own land only rent it. The women all were naive as hell and wore long dresses and yet in the midst of this slightly barbaric and high society, there was electricity, dishwashers, flat screen tv's, cars. It was just a strange mixture with some very archaic rules and that's really what got me the most interested in the first one.
The story revolves around Lady Irene Fortson, Lord James Fortsun's wife. Like every other male of aristocracy he has his 'kennels' which are housed with his pleasure slaves and with whom he spends most of his time with. Lady Irene, outside of her honeymoon to her husband has led a chaste life while watching him go to slake his lust within his kennels which no wife ever sees the insides of. Bored out of her wits and hating the life of a lady and her husband's disinterest, she convinces James to take her to the slave auctions one night with him. He's hesitant to do so but allows her to come. The slaves are kept in cages for perusal of the hierarchy and Irene realises that their feelings run high, it may be fear they are feeling but she never feels much of anything. She wonders what it's like to feel.
This is a whole new world to her - the first time she has seen an auction, seen the men that her husband socialises with admiring women and the first world into the true meaning of slave. When the auction beings, her husband shocks her by buying the most beautiful and youngest slave for the highest bid of the night. And there she is then seated next to him and his new slave, naked, beautiful and perfect. It's hard to understand Irene in the first book for much of it, but something about the set up, the mendacity of her life and yet another younger woman for her husband to lust over, has her doing the unheard of. In a moment of haste, after the last bid is over, she jumps up, goes to the auctioneer and says she wants to be put up on stage and auctioned. The auctioneer tries to impress to her what that means, slaves are not people in society, they are property and can even be killed with impunity. There is no buying oneself back and your rights are no longer your own. Irene presses ahead. When she is auctioned, she has the naive notion that her husband will bid on her. Instead he leaves and she is left to the highest bidder.
That bidder is Mr. Dodge, not of the high social classes. Wealthy, yes. But not of her social set. Thus starts Irene's life as a slave, learning about Kennel life, having a permanent tattoo put on the nape of her neck so she can always be identified and going from wearing her hair up as a lady to always wearing down. Ladies wear their hair up to show they have no tattoo are not for the taking. Slaves wear it down which instantly marks them in society.
The book of course, is full of loads of erotic activity. Orgies, servicing multiple men, being loaned out. Nothing is off limits. All men of means have a 'billiard room' which they retire to after dinner parties. Their wives entertain separately on the other side of the house. What happens in the billiards room is after hours entertainment for the gentleman and in the first book Irene learns exactly what it means to be a slave and being used as purely sexual entertainment. She also becomes something of a rarity because women are either born into slavery or put into slavery by the courts. She is the only Lady of society to ever sell herself into this world. So by the end of the book, she has gone from her slave name back to being known as slave Irene with a gold collar around her neck that can never come off for added humiliation.
While there was a little bit too much sex for me and I seriously wondered how naive Irene had been or what was going through that mind of hers, I was still fascinated by this very mysogonistic and archaic society which really was like going back in a time machine while having all the modern day of conveniences of the 21st century. So although this was the most disjointed of the books, I'm giving it a decent rating for keeping me interested in this weird world even if there was a whole lot of smut in it. The book ends with Slave Irene being sold, although who her new owner is we don't know and I was quickly off the to the second.
An imperfect start to a series, but the fictional society and rules kept me wanting to know more. 3.5 *** stars.
Although I liked this story to a certain extent I'm so sorry but I had a few issues with it. Who in their right mind would do what that dumb heifer of a heroine did! I would not become a slave for no freaking body or no stupid reason, unless it was Zsadist, son of Ahgony, or I didn't have a choice.
Hubby don't want me, COOL, I'm gonna get me a side piece of action too, but I'm gonna stay and spend all hubby's freaking money. I'm going to pilferage enough over the next five years to set myself up. If his favorite whore came up missing, Too Bad!!! because out of respect for me staying with his sorry almost pedophile self he should give me the big (O) too, at least once a week for my suffering.
If he'd by chance came too close to my room, or the kitchen while I was in it, I'd cut his freaking balls or dick off just for thinking it was okay to leave me all hot and bothered!!! While Miss young and supple get all the goods. Not her fault? So!
I also didn't like the way the goods was passed around, abused, and she was completely fine with it. Screw that! Time to go Mohamed Ali on some upper crest!
I liked that this author wrote what she wants. Nobody was really nice and she stuck with it through the whole book. My real issue was where was the handsome hero that loves her. I need a little romance. This story had none.
This book was a detour from the typical master/slave books in this genre. (I don't think I am giving anything away because of the book's own description says as much.) In this book the heroine gives up her high status in society by putting herself on the auction block to become a sex slave. It is a decision that can not be reversed on her part. So in essence the book has both a consensual and non-con feel to it. I found the world the characters lived in to be extremely interesting.
You know what you are buying with a book like this, lots of sex and then a little more sex. So yes, there was sex! For the most part the sex scenes were good, but I prefer just a little more "it factor" to melt my panties. I am having a tough time describing what I mean, but I did not feel the heat even though the action should have set off a fire in my...well you know what I mean. Sorry boys, but the sex was described like a male would describe having sex with a girl and not like how a girl would describe the same passionate bliss. It all comes down to word choice...not bad mind you, but lacking some of the sizzle.
Please don't get me wrong. This book has a very interesting storyline and I am intrigued enough to pursue the next installment in the series. If there were half stars, then I would give this book 3 1/2 "strike-my-bottom" and put me away wet stars.
This review is very late coming. I read this book and was left with mixed feelings. I did enjoy some of what happened and some was a bit annoying. In this world alternate British world, wives are neglected in favour of sex slaves. So Lady Irene, Lord Forston's wife decides that in order to get some attention, she will become her husband's sex slave. This obviously backfires because if he doesn't want her for free now, why they hell would he paid for her? Irene does not come across as a bright woman.
The world building is interesting. The interactions between polite society and the lower class is well done. The mixing of classes when an aristocrat is forced to bend over and take it up the ass whilst a servant tries to enter the upper class is fun to watch. Irene is a handful at times and sometimes she is bratty. I can't decide if I like her or not. I can say that I do not like Lord Forston at all. He is a shallow dunce.
The BDSM is fun, sexual slavery fantasy and erotic. The sex scenes are arousing as Irene learns exactly why her husband doesn't think much of her. She has a lot to learn if she wants to keep a man interested. Fortunately, slutty Irene quickly learns to spread her legs in all the ways that count. Honestly, I thought there would be some more graphic humiliation which would have been fun. There is a good amount of exposure and placing Irene in awkward positions. This isn't literal, more figurative positions. The BDSM sans the slavery is medium in intensity. The concepts of letting an unwanted wife be auctioned off is enticing and spank-bank worthy. The ending comes all too fast. It does make a reader want to read the next book. Because it is clear, Irene is going to cause problems across these clearly defined lines between polite society and the "others". Kinky fantasy recommended for erotic readers who enjoy bratty sex slaves who bit off more than they can chew. *I received this book as a review copy from the BDSM Group's R2R in return for an honest review
I was given this book for a review. I am giving it 4.5 STARS...It was a short book, but I have to say it keep me interested. What I want to know is the where does this take place geographically and what year is it. Ashley Zacharias keeps you intrigued as to what happens next. There were great descriptions of things that were happening to Lady Irene, or Flame. I like to set up of all the characters and the way the slaves were sold. I also liked the explanation of all the other jobs and how the hierarchy of the community worked. I am very interested to find out who bought Flame. I also liked the twist as to why Mr. Dodge purchased Flame. I felt bad for her with they way Mrs. Dodge was treating her. But I was fascinated with they Flame learned everything she needed to know to be a good slave. I enjoyed the entertainment at Lord Hoffman's house. That was written well and I really thought she would be able to pull it off, but the men were one step ahead of her. Well Done Ms. Zacharias. I cannot wait to read the next one.

This was a short quick read. I like reading story about sex slaves and auctions, however this one was just weird. Lady Irene was tired of her husband spending all of his time with his slaves not having sex with her so when he went to an auction to by another she went with him. This is where I had the problem she looked at all the slaves in cages and chains and thought they had a better life then hers why didn't she just tell her husband she wanted more sex. After taking off all of her clothes after her husband buys a pretty slave she thinks she can get his attention, but when he leaves and she is sold she has to go through with it. Her new owner buys her because she was a lady and he needs someone to teach him and his wife manners that they don't have the wife is mean she is humiliated a lot she is also whipped and forced to have sex although she liked that part. I wished that I liked this book better and maybe the next one will be although I am not sure if I will be reading it.
Unfortunate mix. This would have been great as a PWP. With the W standing for "with".
It had a lot of dub con/non con, bdsm, slavery and humiliation stuff. Not exactly my cup of tea. But it was mostly well done (if you take it as a fantasy) and the writing was better than with most of those books.
What I didn't like and didn't understand was the mix of a novel plot into this sex fantasy.
It was confusing. Sometimes it read like a strange and not really well thought out SciFi novel with an alternative society. And then it was just about doing the dirty.
The writing was really not bad, but the characters were basically not there.
So, not a good mix for me.
Maybe I'd think differently if the kink was closer to my own :-)
The beginning, the auction scene, was quite interesting, exciting. The beginning being the first 20%. I know because that’s one of the few times I actually posted an update as I was reading:
"Ah, these types of books. Been a while. That was . . . umms . . well, the first 20% was a certainly 5+ stars."
The rest of the book? Well, there were some exciting times as well, but it was mostly repetitive and, to filled a little too much with ‘my, I sure made a really stupid decision.’
At the 47% mark I’d commented: "I've read reviews, or was it just the one?, that mentioned how the rest of the book wasn't as interesting as the auction scene at the beginning. So far that's mostly true. Though it was still quite interesting . . . all the way up to the part where stuff was just being told, not shown."
By the 100% mark, as in now that I’ve completed the book, I’ll note that the comment was correct, in its way. The rest of the book was less interesting. I believe I’m being repetitive here. Mostly because I wanted to work in by the comments I made while reading the book.
Well, that’s all fun and stuff, by what exactly was this book about? Or, in other words, the normal thing I do – give a little description.
I had put this on the historical shelf before I started because that was one of the listed genres. This is not historical. This is a mixture of modern times and … hmm, maybe something around the Victorian times, but with slavery. Knights, and lords, and barons, and etc. If you are not part of the aristocracy, if you were a commoner, you could make a great deal of money and live quite comfortably you would not be allowed to own land, or businesses. You’d have to rent them. Even though slaves are ‘just property’, as was brought home several times in this story, commoners can own slaves. This is mixed with access to indoor plumbing, television, automobiles, etc. – the normal ‘modern’ conveniences. Heck, they even have little robotic things that do the things they pretend the slaves are kept to do, to clean the house.
The book centers around one of these aristocrats, specifically Lady Irene. She’s quite high up the social ladder. Married to a handsome rich husband. Who barely ever touches her. Almost never graces their marriage bed. Why? Does he, per chance, prefer men? No, if he has any ‘encounters’ with men, it’s not mentioned. No, he doesn’t do his husbandly duties because his sexual needs are met by those kept in the kennels. The slaves. Female slaves.
James, the husband, abruptly announces that he’s off to an auction. Lady Irene, who has found married life, and, maybe more to the point, the life of ladies, to be very boring. Lacking emotion, feeling, life. So, she says she’s going to go with her husband. Husband is annoyed but . . . can’t keep her from coming.
They go. 19 naked women are auctioned off. Lady Irene is one of the few women in the audience. She’s horrified by everything that’s happening, but what she is watching. I don’t recall if there’s any mention of arousal on her part. More disgust. Though there is one or more internal observations that, even through the fear displayed by the slave women, she sees that they are feeling a lot more than she ever does.
She’s horrified by the bids being thrown around. By the amount. Then even more horrified when her husband begins to bid. Most of the time losing. Then he spends a fortune on the next to last slave and ‘wins’ the most attractive slave there.
The gorgeous naked slave woman stands next to husband and wife. Lady Irene can feel the eyes. Glancing, watching, seeing this gorgeous woman next to her. Comparing. Knowing that the husband has bought this young woman much more attractive than his wife. She, Lady Irene, is very humiliated.
The last slave is brought forward. Instead of leaving, now that he’s won his new addition to his slave kennel, the husband stays. To further humiliate his wife? Just because he wants to see all of the slaves? No matter, he stays and the wife is further humiliated.
Something snaps in her right around the time the last slave is sold. She rushes forward and . . . heh, I just realized I just did all this description stuff and everything I just wrote is there. Even the part where I break off when I do.
Quite an exciting book. And despite some impressions I may or may not have given, even the stuff after the auction has some quite interesting moments. I’m quite happy with the whole idea of reading more by this author. Just . . . not in this series.
This is one of the few series wherein I wish it was a series of common universe, not common characters. If I understand the description of the next book correctly, at least. (And a review I noticed for it). I’ve gotten the self-created fall from high society to slave. All the way from auction to horrified acceptance of what she had done to herself. And what her life will entail from this point forward. I’m not sure of the total amount of time I watched unfold, but it was around, hmm, there was one scene which seemed to suggest that it occurred around 12 weeks after the auction. That was fairly late in the book. Still, I’ve learned enough of this specific woman. I’m not bored with her – I’m just . . . not as interested in continuing with her front and center.
So yes, I’d have continued if this was a series of related events, but with different characters. Rare for me, I know. I was going to write more but I distracted myself somewhere along the way.
Oh - that's one of the things I was going to mention but forgot till just now. There were just a few too many scenes wherein Flame, who was Lady Irene, basically begged to be whipped/spanked/flogged/etc. Not because she enjoys such things. Not because she doesn't find it tremendously painful - she does hate it, and find it really painful. But because she feels it's the 'right thing' to happen to her. That's just . . . annoying.
A very unusual read for me, but I knew what I was getting into when I started it. It was a bit weird sometimes, mostly because of what the heroine said or did. But it was a quick read.
This was definitely different than the type of erotica I usually read. The book was good for the most part towards the last party in the book it started getting slow.
I like stories sat in sex slave worlds. I love sex slave auction stories. I thought I would love this book. I wanted to love this book. I hated this book. The auction was was wooden and boring. The sex was wooden, and boring. The characters was wooden and boring. Seeing a trend here? And the worse part, being a wife is no better than being a slave. The "all men are Masters, all women are slaves" type of world has been beaten to death by the horrible Gor series. And I thought those books were badly written. The fact that wives are actually worse off than the sex slaves ruined any message (if there was one) about wanting to be a sex slave.
If you want to read uninspired writing; dull auction scenes; mechanical, unerotic sex scenes; sadistic, emotionless bastard; and be left depressed, unaroused, bored, and wanting 2 hours of your life back, this 'book' is for you. And there are what? Five sequels? And this one ends on a cliffhanger? It read like just the first few chapters of a book. I hate that. I want the whole story at once. I'm not paying 4 bucks for five other 'books' which are really just a few chapters. 20 bucks for a kindle book? I hate the trend on Amazon Kindle of just giving you a few chapters, and charging outrageous prices for the rest of the installments. Give us the whole damn book at a reasonable price. Or in this case, don't even bother if it's this boring. I won't touch the sequels with a 20 foot pole. Glad I got this train-wreck for free.
Lady Irene is feeling neglected. Her husband is spending more time with his pleasure slaves. After convincing Lord James to take her to a slave auction with him she does the unthinkable and offers herself for sale in hopes that Lord James will buy her and spend more time with her. Things don't always go as planned. Initially thinking Irene is an idiot, I began to see her as a strong woman. She was willing to take a risk and go after what she wanted and the consequences be damned. Lord John is a man of his time who reacted the only way he knew how. There is no risk taking where he is concerned. Mister Dodge is an opportunist and a lucky one at that. He is neither very cruel nor very nice. He's just a man with a plan and he sticks to it.
There was some great straight sex in this book, a pretty intense punishment scene, a tiny bit of girl on girl action, with a nice helping of humiliation. For such a short book and quick read it packed quite a punch!
Very good idea and plot. A good style in writing. Steamy scenes were good in some places but really hurried in others. At the last punishment, even though it was supposed to be the highlight of the book, I was completely turned off, because they used the word . I really imagined the worst form of that punishment, and couldn't get it out of my head.
5 Stars because it's just that good. It didn't take long to get into the story and once I was there I couldn't stop. I'm anxious to read the next book. If you're into BDSM this will make you happy ☺.
On The Auction Block is the start of Slave Of The Aristocracy series. While the cover leaves much to be desired, the book itself is interesting enough.
From the concept of slaves versus ladies to the man she is first sold to, Ashley Zacharias weaves a fascinating web in book 1 of this series. I'm hard-pressed to determine when this takes place--there is aristocracy and modern-day technology--but it's a decent book.
Overall, I give it 4 stars. It's an interesting book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Not what I expected... only downside the book has no chapters. Lady Irene is tired of being arm candy and wanting her husband to screw her, but all his time is spent in the slave kennel. She takes matters into her own hands and put herself on the auction block. The question is is this a good thing or bad. The story is very interesting.
The writing is very good, and that goes a long way in this genre. The book also delves into dubious consent, and I appreciate that. It is, after all, fiction. Zacharias dares to explore extreme situations, but she does so with tact, and that produces intense eroticism.
This is a "slave" story with a difference! I'm not into reading about pain and/or brutality, both of which are contained within this book. However, it's not offensive and nor is it included to provide a thrill. It's simply a part of the story being told; and its a darn good story, too! If you're into bdsm, D/s or spanking, this won't be a great read because it doesn't really cater very much for that; instead what it does give you feels almost like it could be a true(ish) story, as told by a person in the position of the main character. It confused me a bit at the beginning as the 'era' in which its appears to be set, didn't have tv's, email, internet and other mod-cons that are everyday items to the characters in the book. The money is not in GBP's or USD's either. Why the author has chosen to mesh past, present and future into an unknown "now", but it does become settled as you read on. I don't wish to say too much as I'd hate to give too much away. You'll just have to trust me that you will enjoy reading this. I would definitely recommend it to anybody that likes their reading matter a little more fair g than Wuthering Heights!!!
Lady Irene went to a slave auction with her husband she wanted to know what all the fuss was about but when Lord Fortson pays a large price for a beautiful young new slave she decides she wants her husband to own her too. However, he does not want to own her and so Lady Irene's story begins.
This story is well written but I was not crazy about the ending :( The author does settle that part of the story but then she hooks you with a little teaser and I want to know more.
This book took place in an alternate world and the author does a good job of fleshing it out.
This book was provided by the Author through BDSM group TPE BAR Read2Review.
I have been wanting to read this for a while now and I got it for free off of amazon! Thats when you know its meant to be, when you can find it for free!!
Thiss story kind of kept meguessing as far as the timeframe was concerned. One minute I thought I was kn a historical read and then they mention watching television. So I will leave that left to your judgement.
I am very excited to read the next installment in this series. This is an original story that has me hooked. The only thing I would change is the sex scenes. They are moved over pretty quickly and I just feel it is a wasted opportunity to be descriptive.
Kudo's to the author for writing something unique. As the saying goes there's an audience for every book.
The cock cleaning after backdoor play, moved the story too close to scat for me to find it the least bit erotic. I've only tagged it as such as due to it having adult content.
New author for me. This book/series was a little hard for me to get into at first but as I kept reading I became more and more hooked. It starts with Lady Irene, who is in a boring marriage and then finds that she can choose her own destiny and by that she puts herself on a Pleasure Slave Auction block. She slowly starts to realize that she was missing out on so much but as each adventure unfolds she slowly finds herself even through sexual exploits.
Have read the series now I found it good from start finish . well written moved at a fine pace, Sometimes lighthearted sometimes ott but nonetheless good fun fiction well done.
