I don't know. I think I was expecting more from this. I never get my hopes too high with Japanese cook books as I know that I can't eat most of the food. And in a few instances, it feels like it has been dumbed down. Fresh soya beans in the pod. Yep. That's Edamame. Savoury Pancake. Sure. That's Okonomiyaki. And Pancakes with sweet red bean paste. Dorayaki.
On the positive side. Daikon and Carrot salad would be amazing! Simmered Daikon would be delicious! I've had Japanese Potato Salad and it is to die for. Especially if there is a runny egg on top! Omelettes filled with Rice, I would actually be able to replicate this at home. Green Tea Ice-cream. So glad matcha got a mention and not just in the tea section. And the Tea section itself was covered very well. (yes. tea snob here. I always check)
