The new Raspberry Pi 4 computer, now with 1, 2 or 4 GB (LowPowerDoubleDataRate4) memory, is a rather important product you can buy.

Important for the power that comes available at a very, very reasonable price.

This book gives a very practical introduction (and doesn't bother with the operating system).

100% recomendado :)

Nice overview of Raspberry Pi suitable for children but also applicable to adults. I especially enjoyed learning about the hardware components for a simple understanding of how computers work. Also cool to see the possible applications of the Raspberry Pi and an introduction to physical computing. The Scratch was not relevant to me but may be useful to younger readers. I liked seeing how Python can be used on the operating system and how Raspberry Pi may be used to learn Linux. In summary, this was a nice introduction to the Raspberry Pi system. If I ever purchase one and wish to explore further, I will probably look for a more advanced text.

This is an excellent Beginner's manual. Unfortunately, it has been updated for Pi 400, so some of the directions are wrong for earlier models. I ended up having to go to the website to do some of the exercises online which kinda defeats the purpose of programming your own device. But I has turned out to be an exceptional user manual.

It's alright, but unfortunately it is more geared towards beginners than it is people who are trying to get an in depth exposure to Linux. Worth a read if it came with your pi, but not worth buying on its own.

Probably great for students, but it was great for me as well. Gave me EXACTLY what I needed to get started with a project I am working on. The graphics made all the difference.

I am teaching an introductory course on computer science at a high school. This included several simple projects that I can use with my students.

Updated for the Raspberry Pi5.

I think that this is a great beginners book if you are new to the Raspberry Pi, have just bought one and want to get it running. It is pi5 centric, but also it has a chapter on the pico and pico w.

There is a chapter each on Scratch and Python programming. There are also chapters on how to use the GPIO, a sense HAT, and a camera.

There is enough to get you started on these, but you are probably very quickly going to want to find books that go into more detail on whatever aspect you are interested in. If you have been playing around with previous versions of the Raspberry pi, this book is probably too basic for you.

Think of it as a very thorough user manual. It gets you started, but doesn't take you very far. Some people are going to want more details and exercises, but there are more specialized books for whatever aspect you want to pursue.

I didn’t realize it was for kids when I got this book but it’s well put together and is a useful guide to the Raspberry Pi hardware.
