This was a great book to read aloud to younger children, or give young readers to enjoy on their own. It is lavishly and beautifully illustrated, and the stories are classic ones, edited for younger children. I think many of them came from Bennett's Book of Virtues, only simplified for early readers. I would recommend this beautiful book, especially to homeschoolers.

Es un bonito libro. Tiene algunas historias muy bellas, y por supuesto unos dibujos extraordinarios. Lo que no me cerró al volver a leerlo (necesitaba un cuento con fines didácticos) es la inclinación religiosa que tiene. Para un niño o niña de familia religioisa, hegemónica, "completa" y con un buen pasar económico y de religión cristiana, es un muy buen libro, porque enseña buenos valores. Para niños con familias atípicas, disfuncionales o en situación de pobreza (como el caso para el que necesité rescatar algún cuento) puede dejarlos con la sensación de que algo les falta, de que una vida feliz es inalcanzable.
Es placentero de leer y observar detenidamente sus dibujos. Es realmente precioso. Como un mimo al alma. Pero con fines didácticos, queda al criterio de cada quien si deciden usarlo. O si deciden dárselo a sus hijos.

Was happy to find this at the thrift store- a nice collection of stories and poems. A bit moralistic, but a Christian parent could easily use this book to discuss beautiful truths and then use them to point their children to Christ.
