I know this is later than I usually post but I sort of had to binge read a bit. Posting his one now and the next book later today.
When we left Tessa and Cody they had gotten buried, whether from an earthquake or a bomb is yet unknown. Goran and Serus dig them out, they're injured and like everyone else, exhausted.
Jared had come back to the mines with soldiers, however once he realizes they are out to kill all the vampires he knows he has to save Tessa, her family and friends regardless of the cost to himself.
In the meantime, Rhia and Wendy have come back to the mines to find the others. Only they run into the other half of the soldiers. The soldiers aren't happy to see them and a phone call to the human council ensues.
When Jared finds Tessa and the gang, they had already evaded the soldiers who thought they were already dead and found more disturbing evidence of the cloning.
Lots of surprises in this one. I love how the relationships in the book develop and the link Cody and Tessa share is a hoot at times. The ending however is just WOW! This is one of those times I am very glad I bought bundles and had to finish the next book before I wrote this.
The only thing I have to say about this is that I am surprised I love the series as much as I do. The quality of writing stays consistent throughout the entire series that I have read so far. My heart goes out to Tessa and Cody as well as the other characters. I kind of don’t want the series to end just to see how much trouble those vamps can get into...
I can honestly say I was at the edge of my seat with every page. I was so invested in this story. I wanted to know what would happen to all of my favorite characters. The author has a way of drawing you in. With just the right blend between action, humor, and mystery. What would happen next and just when you thought they would be fine they would be in a perilous situation.
Each book in this series is like popcorn - you can't stop eating it. Good writer, nice dilemma in the story which keeps you reading. If you don't like cliffhangers don't start on them.
DALE MAYER HAS GOT A SERIES YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS HERE...., June 21, 2015 I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION.. In the last book it end with Tessa having to kill someone they though would be on their side, but he wasn't and she was sorry.Goran had to face a horrible secret they found in the mountain blood farm, he set out to destroy all of it , the mountain shook and they knew they had to get out. Goran had lost it and wasn't going to go, finally Cody grabbed Tessa and he and Goran tried to fly out, then rocks were falling on them and separated Cody and Tessa burying them. Now in this one starts with a rescue can they find Tessa and Cody under all the rocks? Will they be alive or hurt or dead? A safe place is found so the injured can heal and all can eat after days, but it is not really safe and hides even more of Goran's discovery that will be found in a couple of rooms, they destroy it too again back to trying to get out but another way. Which again leads to a new problem when they get separated (every time they do someone from one or both teams get into trouble). Serus will find he has to face almost the same thing as Goran did just his son is 100 years younger. Trails they face more Tessa discovers what she can really do, surprising everyone, till you begin to see the shy quite girl become a strong, decisive woman. Slowly as she is right and can tell more then the others what really happened, she starts beginning deferred to and even Goran and Serus (the elders or the ancients),even some of the human soldiers. Tessa talks the soldiers into helping take the captured and insured out with brother David, and 3 friends, there by dividing the team, again. So the rest continue to search, but later the soldiers, then Seth, disappear. Leaving Tessa and her father Serus and Cody and his father Goran till they have to separate, then Tessa is separated from her father when he is taken. But with Tessa luck and skills she finds a group she can trust and begins freeing them, then they keep find her friends and others. Sending all but three who would not leave her out with the sick and weak. Her new group goes looking for the rest, her father, Goran and Cody, on their way to Cody,Goran and the found Seth. The mountain begins to shake and fall in (they don't know why) worse the maze tunnel they where in let to a cliff,Goran and Cody (as flyers)and Seth had already flew off the cliff when Tessa got there and none of her group were flyers. She and her father were jumpers, but with three others, then the cliff gives, they grabbed who they could and fell. I can't wait for the next book to see who makes it? Who is involved ? Who brought the mountain down? Why? Did They stop the blood farm? How many of the groups they send out made it?
While Moltere's Mountain is collapsing, will the gang make it out alive? With Tessa and Cody buried alive under rocks, their family and friends are trying to find them. Once freed, they head back to where Cody and Goran's 'new' family is being created. Goran goes on a rampage to destroy them with Serus to calm him down. The kids except Tessa all drink some blood to tie them over. While they are resting the Soldiers that are considered the rescue team find them. See that they are dead, bummed they couldn't kill them for themselves and leave. Jared finds them as they are waking up and they exchange information. When they run into the Soldiers again they convince them that they are on the same side. They decide to split up with half the Soldiers, David, Jewel, Ian and three of Seth's unconscious friends are ordered to leave. While Tessa orders the others to go find her Human friends. With Rhia and Wendy looking for the group in another section will they ever meet up with the group again. History shows, when they split up, something goes wrong. With the Mountain exploding to shut down this blood farm, will all of the team make it out alive? Friends will become enemies and you'll be shocked when you learn one of the big players behind it all. Can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series!
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and in the case of Tessa this might as well have been a decree by god. No matter what is thrown at her, she is constantly adapting and acquiring amazing skills. The straggling group has been pushed to their limits, they are physically hurt, mentally hurt, hungry and the challenges just keep coming. Through it all, the kids and the ancients learn more about each other growing into better people. ( maybe should say vampires). I enjoyed watching the relationship between Cody and Tessa develop and the reactions of their fathers. It just proves no matter the species, fathers are protective of their little girls. There is a lot of information in the book, several twists and turns and a climatic end. I can't decide if the end is a false sense of accomplishment and peace or just Ms. Mayer setting us up for a fall. One never knows whats going on in this authors mind but whatever the plans, I am sure it will be worth it. This is a great series and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
Book 5 was pretty much more of the same but did progress a lot farther this time. I think we may have seen the last of the mountain for a while, but I'm not positive on that. This took a few hours to read.
This book is part of a series and must be read in order and CAN NOT be read as a stand alone.
We finally find out who is the brains of the operation. Yea...of course we know that the story has to have more dilemmas to deal with (it can't be all romance and lollipops) so as you probably figured out, there is no tech. no HEA for this book. However, if you wanted to stop here, you probably could and be satisfied, but don't do that. You and I both know that you want to keep reading and find out what happens next. You also want to see everyone's big HEA just as much as I do.
So.......
Would I recommend this book? Yes if you have read the other 4...if not, why haven't you?!
Would I read more from this author? Yep, I need to see how this ends..but I'll admit, it sure is taking a long time to get there.
I'm really liking the way the story is progressing. It is constantly moving forward, never stalls or has a dull area. It seems like there is always something lurking around the corner that's going to surprise you, and most likely piss you off LOL
The characters are all growing too. Tessa, Cody, and Jared have all come a long way from who they were when they were introduced in the first book. I'm not sure the direction that Jared is going but he's now a kid who has been abandoned by everyone, only to find that Tessa's family cares about him. Now how he changes knowing that it looks like we will have to wait and see.
Again the setting in the mountain just gets creepier and creepier. I couldn't imagine half of the stuff in there...Mayer has certainly kept me on my toes not knowing what surprises the mountain will bring.
This book has more gasps than dialogue. The first chapter alone had me wondering if anyone in this story breathes normally.
Rhia is supposed to be helping her kids, but she doesn’t actually do much. Her scenes feel like filler, and I found myself skipping them because they didn’t add anything to the story.
Tessa and Cody spend a lot of time being jealous of each other. It’s a constant back-and-forth that doesn’t really go anywhere and just gets repetitive. The one thing I liked was the ending. It was nice to finally have a conclusion without a cliffhanger. That felt like progress.
A good read. I love to discovering the new sides of Tessa. However, by the end of this series I was little bummed that they didn't just finish it off. I enjoyed reading the series, but there was a lot of it that I felt just kind of kept repeating. I'm not sure that I want to start up a whole new one with Tessa and Cody. I would've rather they just finished it and started a different series with different characters.
I loved this book, this series. Again another hit for Ms Mayer...
Ms Mayer has a way with words. She keeps you enthralled from page one to the last page. The story line flows there are no gaps, I, will repeat myself. This would make a great movie. I rarely go to movies, but this one is so good. I would just have to go see it.
The book is a low four stars due to the weak ending. The ending had enough to conclude it if the series is continued. However the authors website states she will not finish the thread of the story. If the author works on her endings, these books would among the better novels in the series.
Tessa has finally been through hell. This blood farm had taken so much out of her and her group. They have been separated and drugged. A few had trackers implanted in m to gather data and location on these vampires. But nothing could prepare them from the mountain collapsing
