I wanted to start of 2023 reading a cozy book about self-care. Something soothing and calming to start off the new year. I chose "200 Tips, Techniques & Recipes For Natural Beauty" by Shannon Buck. This book has been sitting on my TBR bookshelf for quite a while and I thought now is the time to give it some attention. I am glad I did!

First off, this book is beautifully detailed and formatted. It boasts a plethora of information on understanding the science behind self-care items and how to create your own concoctions for your personal spa experience. There is a much welcomed abundance of colored photos paired with step-by-step "how to" recipes, making your journey into learning and implementing natural beauty products a breeze. The recipes are easy to follow. The photos are pleasing to the eye. The interior pages of the book are sturdy and the cover is cross between a hardcover and a durable, soft shell.

I learned in depth about clays, carrier oils, butters, emulsifiers, scrubs, cleansers, aromatherapy, hair treatments and much more. It also boasts charts and diagrams you can go back and refer to after reading the book. I like the detailed advice/tips on haircare treatments such as how best to nourish it. I enjoyed the chapters on facial clays and steams and body scrubs and moisturizers. Honestly, I found ALL the chapters inspiring. It's really tough to choose just one.

Definitely happy this is my first read of 2023. It put me in an inspiring mood to remember to take time out to pamper myself and not keep trying to beat the clock and diminishing my own importance.

Happy 2023!

I won this book from a good reads give away. There are some fantastic looking recipes in here and the few I have tried I have enjoyed (such as the hot chocolate milk bath). There are several other recipes that I plan on making but some of the ingredients in others are just too obscure. I look forward to some of the goodies I will be making.

This is a really good entry level book for making your own skin care. It didn’t answer all questions, but enough to get started. I also appreciate the list of reputable businesses to purchase safe products from.

Plenty of useful information on oils and essential oils as well other natural beauty ingredients. I did not rate it higher as some items used in the recipes were rather obscure and hard to find. However, the presentation was nice to look.

This is one of the best books in my natural skin care collection. Her ingredient lists are are very good and the format of the book is so easy to use. I like the wide range of recipes. You can choose between simple oil blends, balms, salves, or emulsions. I have books with similar information, but in my opinion, this one is much easier to use.

Great book for a thorough background on natural ingredients and how they interact with each other. The author gives a recipe and then provides at least five variations from easy to complex. It does help if you have already spent a good portion of your savings to buy the items.

Pensaba que las formulas serian con ingredientes más asequibles. Da muchas ideas y combinaciones de elementos, así como ir más allá de sus propuestas, pero veo muy difícil que yo lo ponga en practica.

Amazingly handy and useful book. It has guides for oils, butters, clays, salts and everything you might need for natural beauty! Lots of step by step pictures, ingredient photos, charts and everything to go from knowing absolutely NOTHING about natural body care to being almost a pro in it.
After watching The Human Experiment documentary, I absolutely freaked out. I checked all my cosmetics (all full of toxic chemicals), I searched for more info online, I read Kristen Ma's Beauty Pure and Simple: The Ayurvedic Approach to Beautiful Skin and thankfully found this wonderful guide with which I'm slowly turning my cosmetics into natural options and hopefully soon-to-be homemade ones (okay, just the easy ones but still!)
If you want to get rid of all the toxic chemicals in your life and beauty routine and start living a healthier natural life while still enhancing (often even more so) your beauty you NEED this book!

I've been having problems with skin care products and was interested in possible alternatives. The ingredients in these recipes were too unusual for me to hunt; I have no idea where to buy them.
