“My powers are gone, Nick. I’m human.”
This was another crazy instalment in this series, and things were once again a little complicated.
Nick was back in his own dimension in this book! Yay! He was once again trying to protect his mother, as well as trying to stop hell on earth, and even had to look after Caleb in this book.
The storyline in this was about an illness w ...more

Too many explanations and characters…
It makes it more unreadable. It’s like if I did not read Sherrilyn Kenyon’s other series… I can’t read this. It makes me sad because I really love the first books of this series.
And the explanations?! It’s like an encyclopedia of something… grrr….
And who the hell is ‘the elder child who bears Malachai blood’?
His family and loved ones are threatened. Their lives depend on him passing a very dangerous and deal test. This test is of the mind body and heart and he must ...more
Chronicles of Nick has been my go-to series when I want something well written, light and ridiculously entertaining. Sherrilyn Kenyon’s wonderful sense of humor remains this series’ strong point, but as the st ...more
"Be careful of arrogance" Caleb says at Nick's good natured happiness. In this story, Nick is losing time. Even though he's thankful he's back in his realm, there are still many enemies who are playing for his powers. Grim and Laguerre joins forces and calls other Sarras to ally against the Malachai for a new Malachai, Nick's older half-brother. Nick is also fighting for truths. With Caleb ill and unable to cover his back, he is finding for the first time who to r ...more
I think this one might be the best one so far. I definitely feel better here at the end of this one and I like how we finally know more about how all the pieces and characters fit together. I think Nick has grown a lot, yet kept the p ...more
*So happy I work for the publisher, and got to read this early!*
As with every Kenyon book...I LOVED IT, and cannot wait for the next one. Our favorite teenage demon who will be either the world's greatest hero, or reign absolute destruction is back. As with every book Nick is in, his sarcasm, and bad jokes made me either smirk, or laugh out loud. The rest of the gang are back too.
I will not give away any detailed spoilers or plot details even though I'm dying to talk about it. I will speak gener ...more

I'm sad we didn't get a lot of Kody and Nick time. I love them. Hopefully, everything we be set to right and we'll see them together in Kenyon's adult series.
The Chronicles of Nick series is definitely one that I enjoy. This is one of those series that need an encyclopedia just to remember all the characters, realms, demons and deamons. I don’t even understand the difference between demons and deamons. I enjoy the sarcasm, but there are some phrases in this book that I don’t understand. Also I’m not even sure what language they could be in; Spanish, Latin, or made up?

You were kind to me and I don’t believe in repaying kindness with cruelty. — Xevikan Daraxerxes
God Xev breaks my heart. A whole lot of the support cast in CoN are heartbreaking but there is something else about Xevikan that is just something else. He is pain, PTSD and power. “To give you an inkling, Gautier, I was the only ancient god born who could kill a Chthonian.”, look he is terrifying powerful and I adore him. I love Caleb I do but his inability to listen to Xev's side of the Liliana dis...more
I didn't love this one as much as Illusion, there was a part close to the middle that made me think I would give this book 4 stars instead of 5, but then Nick went in his journey where he met Aeron and I was right where I began, totally ...more

Nick gave her a charming grin he didn’t really feel. “No, ma’am. A gator named Sense Formerly Known as Common.”
Sneering at him, she tottered her way to her desk so that she could insult someone else and ruin their day.
Caleb let out an annoyed breath. -Great,- he projected to Nick. -Now I have to get detention, too. I really hate you, Gautier.-
Nick batted his eyelashes at Caleb. -But I wubs you, Caliboo.-
That succeeded in wringing a groan out of Caleb.
“What was that, Mr. Malphas?” Richardson asked.
“Severe intestinal woe caused by an external hemorrhoid that seems to be growing on my right-hand side.” He cast a meaningful glower toward Nick.
The class erupted into laughter as Richardson shot to her feet. “Enough!” She slammed her hands on her desk. “For that, Mr. Malphas, you can join Mr. Gautier in after-school detention.”
Caleb let out an irritated sigh. --More quality time with my hemorrhoid. Just what I wanted for Christmas. Yippee ki-yay.--”
