"THE MANHUNT IS HERE!" The rumors were true! Armored vehicles from No. 6 roar through the gate into West Block, massacring the helpless and arresting everyone else. Amid the chaos, Shion and Rat realize this could be their only chance to get into the Correctional Facility and save Safu. But when they do make it inside, what they find is worse than anyone could have imagined... PRAISE FOR THE ANIME "Sadly beautiful in places, hauntingly violent in others, No. 6 [is] worth your time." - Anime News Network "No. 6 is science fiction the way it's meant to be - boundary pushing... and completely spellbinding." -Inside AX
Re-read in 2025: The scene where they had to climb up the pile of dead bodies to get out of there... this time around, it made me literally sick to my stomach. Maybe because I've read up on Holocaust since the first read and it made me realize that, no, such brutal violence isn't just the stuff of stories.
Original read: Jesus, this volume was brutal. So much death and destruction. And the ending! Rat's been always saying that Shion was too soft, that he needed to change - but now I wonder what he'll say to what Shion did in the last scene. I don't think that Rat will like it. At all. Because as much as Rat complains, I think he actually loves Shion the way he is...
I'm a bit conflicted rn bc I am enjoying my time reading this (clearly) but the characters are too one dimensional for my taste and the relationship isn't that convincing which sucks for me😭
Even though i’ve watched the anime, i truly forget the horrible things these characters go through. this volume was a reminder. Very action packed but with a lot of shocking moments. It’s very fast paced to the point where you don’t realize how much truly has happened until you take a step back to think about it.
Things are getting more intense as the series goes on.
The manhunt, a horrible thing the government does to the people in the West Block, happens. And so Rat and Shion get transported somewhere new. Shion struggles with the horror of it and having to move forward, wanting to go back to how things were. But he wants to be there for Rat, and he wants to save Safu, and he promised Dogkeeper he’d be back.
Shion is a sweetheart, and it’s hard seeing him struggle like this. The cliffhanger makes me really scared, both for him and for what he’s doing.
I love Dogkeeper. She tries so hard to be tough, but the way she gives in for Shion’s sake is nice. I just want to know more about her. She’s separated from Rat and Shion at this point, but I hope we get to see more of her in the next volume.
A lot is happening, and the main plot is moving forward at a very steady pace. Shion is learning to deal with the horrors of what No. 6 is doing, and I like that he acknowledges that he doesn’t want to get used to it, or become cynical of it. I’m looking forward to reading more.
The further I am in this series, the more I love Nezumi & Shion! This is a strong volume that have a lot of important moments between the boys. (Including a adorable dancing scene.)
Nezumi had faint after hearing a strange song. Shion is all cute and worried about the boy, he even admits that losing him is the thing that he is the most frightened of. (Can you head my inner fangirl screaming ?)
It is total chaos and panic when Cleaners of No.6 arrives with tanks and transport people to the Correction Facility, including my two favorites.
Next chapter is pretty gruesome when some of the facility secrets are reveal. Shion must face the harsh reality of the world.
This is genuinely one of my favourite volumes of manga ever? There's so much development in Nezumi and Shion's characters, as well as their relationship together and how it's ever expanding and becoming more nuanced. Honestly, only they could flirt in one of the most dangerous situations ever. I think we're beginning to see the way events are starting to negatively impact Shion, but I love how Nezumi is still, in a very roundabout way, trying to make sure Shion holds onto his 'purity'.
No.6 is very underrated as a breakdown of the Utopia and Dystopia genres, and is very impressive in the way it does it. Just as a story in general it's underrated and I really hope people continue to find and read it.
This one was pretty gross not gonna lie. I couldn’t read it that fast bc the literal mountain of dead & dying bodies was a LOT. And then they had to climb it. Bro. What the fuck
Dehumanization is a hell of a drug. Like this is pulling no punches with the political statements.
Also though we found Shion’s rage button finally. The way his eyes just grey out when he thinks Nezumi is about to die gives me chills.

I never know what's going to happen in these, not because the plot is incoherent, but because I don't think I've read anything quite like this before? I have some thoughts about what's going on with Shion though. Rat continues to be an emotionally dysfunctional hyper-competent badass, which is an entire alley of mine.
Awesome volume. I loved that we got to see the worst of the worst of No. 6, but its only the beginning. The Correctional Facility is a hell, and Nezumi has experienced this all before. Had to listen to the opening song from the anime today, getting so hyped from this story and the art is so beautiful. Really wanting to do a rewatch 🥰
Okay well this was horrifying and brutal. How you gonna give me the cutest shit ever with Nezumi showing Shion how to dance and telling him that he needs him and then the next chapter they are climbing a massive pile of bodies??? The way not all the bodies are even dead too like excuse me. 👁️👄👁️
Nezumi's protectiveness of Shion and Shion going apeshit for Nezumi is perfection.
Here is where we started to have some major diferences with anime. The scenes are powerfull, I love the part of Shion and Nezumi danced together, was sweet and somehow sad at the same time. The scene of the mountain bodies it's crueler here. I'm so excited to read the next one.

Banyak mayat2 bergelimpangan di sini... Perburuan manusia semacem ajang bersih rumah dari kotoran trus di buang ke tong sampah ☹️ Dannnn Sioonnn ya ampun nakkk kamuu kok gituu 😢😢 tapi ya udahh gak apa yg penting demi Nezumi 😭
I try to read these as slowly as possible but it takes immense self control. I love Shion, Rat and Dogkeeper so much it’s not even funny. And that dance scene killed me. Also, it’s getting really dark - I mean that ending was just wtf
This volume was incredibly depressing… But I do like that the author shows that what Shion is seeing is affecting him… It’s traumatizing him… He wants to stay human. He wants he and Rat to survive and make it back to that room…. Me too, me too…
i’m suing the author for emotional distress… the ending was UNCALLED FOR. jokes aside, i think the plot was interesting and i love how natural the love story of main characters unfolded, it was so cute!! :) I NEED A REUNION ASAP! ☹️
This volume is brutal, but extremely impactful. A warning to those who can't handle gore. This series is powerful with its storytelling. I highly recommend it.
