From Boston to the small town Matthews on the outskirts of Charlotte . From selling stocks and bonds and managing the investments of powerful millionaires and corporate businessmen to inheriting her late sister's business and selling sexy lingerie and BDSM accessories. That's quite a change for our heroine Madison and requires some adjustments. Add in the fact that Madison fed a few kinky fantasies over the course of time and being in the presence of her new neighbor, Logan Scott, a hardware store owner and training Master at the local dungeon, revved up her imaginative mind quite a bit.

OMG, there goes my feels…*sigh*
This is what I want and expect from Joey.

Emotion.
Sensuality.
Thoughtfulness.
A deep connection. To the story. And its characters.

The very best offered within 110 pages. I loved it. Imagine, no kiss and no sex between these two in this first novella and yet there were moments where I could feel the air vibrate with sexual tension. Gah…I was glued to the pages and I'm so excited to see more of Logan and Madison in Naughty Bits Part II: The Training Session. There's room for a higher rating. *hint* *hint*

I'll be honest, I was afraid to read this novella because of my latest disaster. Joey W. Hill's Divine Solace was so not what I was hoping for. However, Naughty Bits Part I put me back in my little happy place. This novella reads like a sensual appetizer and I cannot wait to get to the mouth-watering main course where Joey will blend in the sensuality with blatant sexuality. Hopefully.

The beginning did not quite convince me but when I first laid my eyes on Logan I was a goner. What came out of that man's mouth reminded me a bit of Tyler. Logan is one thoughtful and sexy package pushing forty, very masculine with warm brown eyes and brown, long-ish hair peppered with gray. He's got a mesmerizing voice and exudes a worldly wisdom I will always fall for in a heartbeat. He's got a firm presence that practically screams authority and yet he exudes a gentleness that softens his rougher edges. He's got something else in spades that will always make me end up in a puddle of goo at a hero's feet: charisma. Fact is, I wasn't particularly fond of Madison to whom I did not fully connect, but I definitely swooned over Logan. Without doubt, he made that short story for me and held me in his irresistible spell.

Madison is standing at a crossroads in her life. This first novella deals with her fantasies. It's about figuring out what she really wants for herself and exploring her hidden feelings. It's also about making a choice. Logan doesn't push, he only gives her an inspiration, an idea what she can expect. He offers to be her teacher among other 'things', but he made it clear it will be up to Madison to decide what she wants from him.

A great and satisfying intro, well written and sprinkled with a little bit of Joey magic. I'm so glad I read it and cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel. Is it May yet?

Thank you, Joey.

Naughty Bits Part 1 is a sexy novella with a faithful promise of amazing things to come!

Madison inherits her sister's sexy lingerie shop so she ups sticks and moves her entire life to start a fresh, leaving behind her boring career and a collection of disastrous relationships. She craves to lose control and embrace her submissive tendencies, she just doesn't really know how to go about it? As luck would have it her shop neighbour is one very sexy master of dominance. Logan Scott

Logan oozes charisma, confidence and control. He's strong both physically and emotionally... Oh yes, I fell in book love with him very quickly. And he's a book guy who's the right kind of age for me! Bonus!!

Can he tempt her into training?
Can he give her a taste of the lifestyle she desires?
Can she let go of her control and embrace her fantasies?

This is my first sample of a Joey W. Hill story and I have to say, I can't wait to taste some more. I enjoyed every part of it, the sexy descriptions, the personalities, the subjects. There's a little sadness to the story, obviously, and every now and again Madison would say something that touched me, and that's the essence of subtle, beautiful writing.

I enjoyed the delicious erotic flavour, Ms Hill gave me and I'm intently looking forward to the next installment in this series, Naughty Bits Part II: The Training Session More questions will be answered in a delicious sexy way

I have discovered that Joey W. Hill has a very beautiful way of writing. Her words flow at a subdued elegance. She is meticulous at explaining the world of BDSM, IMO.

 photo Lingerieshop_zpsbd71d313.jpg

The Lingerie Shop is the beginnings of an intricate series- it starts with a sister, Madison, coming to terms with her inheritance from her sister, Alice. A sister that knew her better than she was willing to know herself.

We learn of Madison's desires and fears. How she is her own worst enemy. But in order to be happy she must be true to herself......

Stop trying to be what every guy, Master or not, wants you to be. Embrace who you are for you Anything else is a point-less soul-suck.

Alice has told Madison that she needs to trust someone named Logan. He will take care of her and be there for her. Can Madison trust her sister; believe that her sister would have her trust a man, a man that would surely break her heart like all those in her past? But Madison doesn't need an ordinary man; she needs a Master, someone that she can give herself to completely. But to Madison, that man doesn't exit, or does he? What will the dashing Logan Scott, Master Logan Scott to be exact, do to open Madison's heart and desire? Could he be the man that she has dreamt about, the one to own her soul completely, let her wants and desires be freed?

I, for one, can't wait for this wickedly wonderful series to continue.....

3.7 to 4 hours!

A very, very promising beginning. I generally dislike serial novella because I suck at waiting for each book to come out but this is Joey Hill, so I made an exception.

Naughty Bits is a story about Madison just lost her sister and with her loss comes Naughty Bits. A Naughty Bits is a lingerie shop. Madison has had a strained relationship with her sister but after her death, she was surprised that her sister Alice gave Naughty Bits to her. But that's not the only item that Alice gave. She also have Madison the hot hardware-store owner next door.

Logan is the proprietor of the hardware store beside Naughty Bits. Aside from being owning a business, he's also a master. I can't wait to see him in action and in his element. Madison, I'm still trying to decide whether I like her or not. But she is definitely a contradiction. I have a feeling that she'll get better as the series goes on.

I don't think Joey could write a bad book even if she tried!

Logan and Madison's journey will certainly be an emotional one ... can't wait for the rest of the novellas.

Full review at the end of part IV because it's impossible to review each part and do it justice.

A closet submissive with a Type A personality inherits a sex store. How is this a good thing? Madison loses her beloved sister, Alice, to a sickness. As part of Alice's will, Madison inherits "Naughty Bits" a lingerie store which also sells sex toys. It also caters to the tasty forbidden fruit - BDSM.

Madison is a disturbed character. She's annoying to me because she doesn't understand to concept of living life. She goes through the motions and just wants to reach the end goal. Does she even know what the end goal will be? She doesn't take time to enjoy the journey to her destination. This can be seen through her thoughts on how to not to deal with bad sex and relationships.

Her [Madison] heart was too battered, her mind too confused. Maybe she’d take up dating when she was past menopause. Sure she’d have to wait a couple decades, but women at that age seemed like they had stuff figured out. Maybe the hormones drove the stupid shit out of the brain and only left (loc. 218-220)

This shows a distinct lack of maturity. No matter how business successful Madison may have been, she seems to be sexually stunted. Her supposition that older women have "stuff" figured out because they are older completely misses the point that they have experience. Women who have the sex part figured out is because they learned about themselves, are comfortable in their own skin and know what they want. Madison's mantra seems to be "lie to me".

Ms. Hill captures in Madison a lot of fears I've heard over the years from females. Especially young females in college who are not fully sexual comfortable in their own skin. She does a great job of showing Madison's issues and why she behaves the way she does. It doesn't make me like Madison any better. My hand itches to slap some sense into her. Because it's obvious Alice wasn't able to wake Madison up from her continuous self-destructive cycle. I have no sympathy for Madison's heartbreak or situation because she does it to herself and refuses to stop.

What is interesting in this conflict is how Ms. Hill starts Madison on an erotic awakening journey. She introduces Logan, an obvious dominant to spark an interest in Madison. Logan is patient, sexy and confident. I'm sorry, what exactly does he see in Madison? Why would he want her? Ratio of submissives to dominants it the lifestyle are completely in the favour of dominants. I can't throw a rock without hitting a submissive. If Madison doesn't want Logan, it's okay. There are plenty of others who will line up and take him! I digress.

The conflict in this story is depressing. An insecure female who constantly lies to herself and is as prickly as a porcupine is unappealing. Hopefully this set up will show a female at her rock bottom and in the following installments, she'll grown and become a confident woman at ease with her sexual desires. There is nothing sexier to me than a woman who is sexually comfortable with her needs and is a confident play partner. It will be interesting to see how Ms. Hill will help Madison grow.

The BDSM in this story is very light. It's just a beginner look which makes it a good Gateway to BDSM story. Many females in denial yet feel as if a part of them is missing will be able to relate to Madison. This short erotica is recommended to those who want a glimpse into the kinky side of life.

Madison inherits her sister’s sex shop, Naughty Bits, after Alice passes away. She’s grieving, unsure of herself and totally out of her element trying to run a business built on confidence and intimacy. Enter Logan the hardware store owner next door who’s not just handy with tools… he’s also a Dom who used to be close with Alice.

Now, let me pause here and give credit where it's due: I actually really loved the BDSM aspects in this book! The conversations about power exchange were thoughtful, Logan's insights into the lifestyle felt authentic and those little glimpses into his custom dungeon furniture business? So cool! The way he explains dominance and submission with patience and respect totally worked for me.

Logan sees Madison struggling and decides to help her step into her power, not through sex, but through gentle, guided tasks meant to awaken her submissive side. It’s a slow, intentional journey of self-discovery, and honestly? He’s patient, commanding and the kind of Dom you would trust.

But Madison? Girl, I tried. I really did. There’s a big difference between being submissive and being passive and Madison leaned way too far into the “meek and indecisive” zone. Every choice felt like a 10-page internal debate, and her lack of backbone made it hard to root for her.

That said … I’m curious enough about Logan (and hoping Madison grows a spine) that I’ll probably give the second volume a shot. Maybe with more time, she’ll finally come into her own.

When Madison's sister dies and she inherits the Naughty Bits lingerie shop she sees it as the perfect opportunity to get away from her boring job and start a new life for herself. She didn't realise how hard it would be to turn her hand to selling sex toys though and it looks like she's going to need some help learning how to make her customers comfortable. She has been burying her submissive side for so long that she has no idea who she really is any more and the incredibly sexy Dom from the shop next door seems to be more than willing to help her loosen up a little. Can she be brave enough to take a risk with Logan or will her new career end in disaster?

I have a confession - I've never read anything by Joey W. Hill before. I've heard so many good things about her books though so when I got the opportunity to review this one I jumped at the chance to read it. I have to admit that while I liked the story it didn't wow me as much as I hoped it would. I have now come to the conclusion that serial novels are just not for me. I want to be able to read the whole story in one sitting and I do honestly think that if this story had been released as a full length novel I would have happily carried on to the end and probably really enjoyed it. The problem is that this part didn't grab me enough to make me spend the money it will cost to buy the remaining three instalments. Another issue with serials is that they nearly always work out more expensive than buying a full length book and that makes me very reluctant to part with my money. Add in the fact that this book is releasing in monthly instalments so the final part won't be available until July and I can pretty much guarantee these characters will be completely off my radar by then (when you consider that I'll probably read at least 80 books between now and then it's no surprise that something has to be INCREDIBLY special to hold my attention for that length of time).

Madison is an interesting character but I found it very hard to relate to her, she is so sexually repressed and embarrassed about her desires and I don't like the way she pushes everyone away. We do see her start to explore her fantasies a little by the end of the novella though and I have a feeling she's going to go on a real emotional journey as well as a sexual awakening throughout the series which should be interesting to see. I'm hoping she'll become a lot more likeable by the end of the series because I really did want shake her and tell her to get a grip at times. I enjoyed the humour of seeing Madison thrown in the deep end with her sister's lingerie shop though, she is so incredibly naive and now she's supposed to be advising customers and selling sex toys which was very amusing.

At the moment I think Logan is the main draw for me to want to continue the series, he runs the hardware shop next door to Naughty Bits but he also builds custom made BDSM equipment and trains submissives on the side. Logan was also good friends with Madison's sister Alice and she asked him to keep an eye on her after she was gone. Alice knew Madison inside out even though they've been estranged so I think she was aware of how much Madison needs to be pushed if she's ever going to learn to let herself go and loosen up and I'm pretty sure Logan is the perfect man for the job. My main complaint was that we didn't get enough of him in this instalment but hopefully that will be remedied as the series continues.

Unfortunately this novella cuts off the story just as things are starting to get interesting, I would like to know what happens next but I doubt I'll continue with the series unless it is released as a bind up for a reasonable price. I'm not going to be forced into paying more than normal for a novel just because it has been split into four chunks. Die hard Joey W. Hill fans or people who like this new trend of serial novels will probably be happy to start the series now but otherwise my suggestion is to wait until July & then give it a try when at least you're not going to have to wait on a cliffhanger between each new instalment.

A very promising start to a serial and, if you can believe it, my first book by Joey Hill (*horrified gasps*).

If you aren't burnt out by all the BDSM books on the market and you are in the mood for a serial, I would give this book a go. It is a decently hot read thus far, but this novella is still just a tease for the main event, which is probably coming a couple of books later in the series. Our sub-in-the-closet has yet to get down and dirty with her kinky self, yet what I've seen of her chemistry with older Dom, Logan, leads me to believe that there will be some smoking scenes in her future.

It is hard to get a feel for characters in only 110 pages, especially when the author is holding back to stretch out the story. Serials require patience and are not my favorite format, but this was a nice one. Joey Hill fans, stay tuned!

3,5 stars.

A very good start of what I believe will be another amazing love story by one of my favorite romance authors. Reading blurbs of Ms. Hill's books always leaves me wondering how exactly the story will go, how the main characters will get together, and most importantly how they will fall in love, but what my imagination comes up with never comes close to the wonderfully written tales Ms. Hill is an expert in. Madison and Logan's is no exception. The beginning of it, at least, but I'm quite confident it'll only get better from now on.

A control freak with one wish—to lose control, Madison already has me feeling bad for her, and how could I not? Her life in general is not in a good place. She just lost her sister. She inherited a lingerie shop which she has very little idea how to run, and the few interactions with customers proved that. But at least it's a sort of a new start for her, and from what I've learned about her in this part, it's a much needed fresh start. Her sister Alice knew that, and made sure Madison at least gave it a chance. Alice also knew what Madison really was: a submissive, but no matter how much she tried to get Madison to accept and embrace that part of herself, she failed. And Madison had a string of failed relationships because of that. This is the most interesting aspect of Madison's life to me. I do hope to get to the bottom of her terrible choices of men in the next parts. Why she'd deny herself something that's she needs so much, and then date men who couldn't possibly provide it, who even judged her for it, is beyond me. Luckily, her sister knew her well, and left her with Logan.

Logan has me crushing on him already. The whole part one is written from Madison's perspective and she only just met him, so the information about him is limited, except he seems like someone saying "Yes, Sir" to would be a privilege. No matter what Madison says, she can feel that, too. She may tell herself she's accepting to help him train another sub for the sake of her business, but we all know that's only an excuse. I can't wait to continue their journey, and see what happens during that training session.

And, yes, the Joey W. Hill magic I was hoping for to get over a depressing book is very present on these pages, but if you're reading Naughty Bits not as a whole novel, but part by part, be aware there's quite a few less pages of the actual story in Part I than you'd think. It caught me off-guard, but that won't happen again.

Now, on to Part II!

Short story....part 1 of a series. Due to the short length, I did have some trouble connecting fully with the characters and story. But it's well written erotica, and I would absolutely read the next installment.

This is my first book by this author and I draw two conclusions...why did I wait so long to read her works and when will I read another book by her? Yes, I enjoyed it.

When I listened to the audio version of this book, I said to myself...this author gets the sub/master dynamic. I totally identified with the female lead; her need for submission, her cravings, yet she did not let go of her personality in the process. Being submissive does not mean being a doormat. Quite the contrary and I liked how this author made that point clear. The sub in this book was such a strong individual and she was attracted to a strong dominant guy...a true book boyfriend I might add.

The heat jumped off the pages and landed right between my legs. The sex was realistic, but so inventive, making it a pure joy to read. I like to read books that capture my fantasies, yet are realistic enough to fully engage my senses. This book did that and more for me. It is a romance, but it is driven by such delightful dom/sub themes that made me both fall in love with the characters and drench my panties. Nice job Joey! 5 tie me up and make me yours stars.

This is only book one in the series, but I get the feeling that I am going to like it. It has a romantic element, so it's getting at least 2 stars for that alone. I miss romance. True, honest, emotional romance.

The lead female character I hope will mellow a little as this carries on. She's a little high strung at the moment. But Logan, the leading male, I've got my hopes up. He's so far go that whole, firm, but kind thing going on and I LOVE that in my male characters.

I've needed this kind of book, I've sort of been feeling disconnected to my stories of late. This story I'm hoping will jump start me back into my all consuming read that I love so much! Well off to the next...

“Remember me by showing your naughty bits once in a while.”

Madison has lived her life as a woman in control of everything; that is until her sister, Alice’s recent death. Leaving the corporate world and Boston behind, Madison sets out to take over Alice’s lingerie and sexy toy shop, Naughty Bits, in North Carolina. Naughty Bits provides everything from the classy sensual to the blatantly sexual props in order for couples to expand their sexual boundaries and now that Madison is running it, it is also an in your face reminder of her own desires. The desire for submission.

“She was going to have to embrace things she’d kept at bay, face what kind of sexual being she was in order to coax the same to life in those who walked through her door. It was a useful revelation, but the idea of actualizing it brought the same overwhelming anxiety it always did.”

Suppressing her sexual nature after being shamed by her desires in the past, Madison knows she must learn how to connect with her customers and understand how to make their fantasies come to life in order for the business to succeed. In Alice’s last letter to Madison, she spoke of Logan Scott. (Owner of the hardware store next to Naughty Bits.) She went on to tell Madison that she could trust him like a soul mate. Once Madison and Logan meet, the emotional and physical connection between the two ignites. Logan is comfortable with it, as if he’s been waiting for her all his life. Madison is shaken by it, feeling naked and exposed to a man reading everything she is and desires to be.

“She felt like a book he was reading, every word a page full of information about her.”

Logan informs Madison that he is a trained Master and invites her to expand her knowledge and observe his next training session. Flustered by the intensity of their chemistry and connection, Madison informs him she will consider it and as their initial meeting ends, she asks one significant question of Logan:

“What did my sister say about me?”

“She gave you to me. She said…” He paused, his expression serious. “I’m giving her to you Logan, but you might just give yourself back to her, too.”

Naughty Bits is a four part serial with releases April through July and I want to offer my sincere thanks to Joey W. Hill for challenging my dislike of serials. I’m usually not a fan of the “bait and wait” structure and feel like it can make or break the overall flow of the storyline but I took a chance because frankly I don’t believe Ms. Hill could write anything bad. The problem for the reader/reviewer is writing a review that can evoke how well the story is delivered when only having a piece of it at a time. With that being said, I can assure you that the emotional tone and chemistry is set for these characters. Madison is a type A personality, appearing brassy and at times even rude. She is initially very closed off, absorbing the grief in the loss of her sister. The more time she spends with the people who loved and cared for her sister the more uncomfortable she feels. And, the more time she spends with Logan the more intense her fantasies become regarding submission; specifically, to him. Logan is in one word, delicious. Self-assured, confident, his commanding yet gentle nature entices the reader to see him in action. Consider this reader “baited” by this hunk of Southern man!

“She’d never had a man talk like that to her, equal doses of irresistible command and compassion, gentle strength and authority, which had her body throbbing as much as her aching heart.”

Ms. Hill has set the stage for the transformation of Madison in this first installment of the series. At the end of Part I, Madison agrees to watch Logan train a sub in order to learn more about relinquishing control…at a safe distance. Given all the changes her life has taken already, Madison is reluctant to give in to her submissive nature but Logan intends to change that and I look forward to their journey.

This is the first in the series and the meeting of Madison and Logan. First off if you are not into erotica then pass up this story. Second this story is very short. It only has about 80 pages and their story continues into the next novella “Naughty Bits #2 The Training Session”.

This story is about Madison realizing what she wants and her deceased sister giving her the chance for that to come true. We didn’t get too involved with Logan yet but so far he is an interesting character. He has the presence of a Dom. It almost seems like he started wanting Madison based solely on what he learned from Madison’s sister.

I enjoyed the story but wish it hadn’t ended so soon. At least the next story will be out in a month so there is not a lot of time between installments.

OK, maybe I'm a fan of Joey W Hill, and she can do no wrong (etc, etc, etc), but I'm beginning to dislike 'part' stories, not just b/c they leave one (slightly) high and dry, but that it costs me MONEY to buy all the parts (when combined the price would be considerably lower!!) And, IMHO I expect this series to come out in a print book (at a lower price) not long after the final chapter.

Leaving alone the contentious bits, I LOVE Logan. He's strong, determined, quite kind (and in a way, lovable), and totally what Madison needs to cure her of her misconceptions. On the other hand, Madison makes me want to slap her head a few times; 7 failed relationships??? WTF??? So WHAT!! Hasn't she learned something yet??? Is she TSTL??? Does she deserve someone like Logan?? (OK, pass him to me please! I'd certainly value him!!)

Troy is definitely cute.

That's all. :)

ETA: I now have the FULL series in PAPERBACK :) :) :) Hence the re-read April 2020

"Naughty Bits" the name of a unique woman's lingerie store and the new series of novella's by Joey W. Hill. the store was inherited by Madison from her sister. From investments in Boston the store owner in charlotte Madison is a submissive in her fantasies. Next door is a Hardware store owned by Logan and employee Troy. Logan the Master and Troy the sub in training.
This first part of four is classic Joey W. Hill and the reason I love to read her books, well-written erotic BDSM romance with believable characters doing real jobs. They explore a life of control/freedom, wants and needs/practicality, fantasy/reality. this series promises to be a highly erotic exploration into the journey of eroticism.

The first part in a sensual, naughty series about Madison.
Her career with finance doesn´t fulfill her as she wants and when her sister leaves her her lingerie shop in the will, it´s her sisters way of trying to get Madison to reach for joy and happiness in her life.
And explore her need to submit, even if she doesn´t want to acknowledge it, even to her self.
When the neighbouring shop owner turns out to be a good friend of her sister, and a Dom, all pieces seem to fall in place. And through soft coaching, Madison gets her first task from Logan.
Like a yummy starter, you just want more when you´ve read this. Can´t wait for the next part and see what´ll happen with Madison & Logan.

Ms. Hill has done it again, her new series The Lingerie shop is brilliant. Naughty Bits Part 1 is a look into knowing yourself and going with your desires. Ms. Hill's ability to draw yourself out from yourself and into the story is uncanny. Madison, the submissive girl in this delightful tail of BDSM, changes you. You become Madison, you feel what Madison feels, you desire the same desire as Madison. Logan's dominate pull, sucks you into self dreams. The book is all the way around worth reading. I highly recommend this series.

Oooo La La. 3.5 stars

Even though I'm not a fan of the protagionists, I respect how Ms. Hill chose to characterize her. She isn't likable and I think that is part of her "awakening" process. A sexually repressed woman inherits a sex shop and finds a sexy kinky dom waiting in the wings to help her open up.

This is the best BDSM themed romance "book" I've read. That's not saying too much, considering many, many of these books are crummy. (I'm looking at you, 50 SHADES OF GREY). That being said it doesn't feel like much of a book, since it is a novella, and there's not much of a plot. It's as if we only get the "exposition" and "inciting action" portions of the plot, so you have to read the subsequent novellas to get a complete story. But there is enough good stuff to make you want to keep reading, so there's that.

It's not bad, obviously, since I am reading novella #2 right now. It makes for a quick, mostly enjoyable read.

Its hard to get through. So much of it is an unknown, and against society's rules. But it is still a romance story. Still a love interest. It was also hard to stop reading, because there are only 4 'chapters'. It should be 4 parts - and I wish the author would have put in chapters within the parts, but that would have been the norm, the standard. By not having chapters, it was opening new possibilities for the reader - you'll understand at the end.
Each of us want's to do role playing as long as it's within boundaries. This book takes you beyond those boundaries. Makes you see things in a new dimension. A new way of life.
Enjoy the story - take your time and think about it. Don't worry if you have to put it down for a while, then pick it back up again. Change takes time.

Madison has been looking for love in all the wrong places all her life. She's naver had a successful relationship but does have a great fantasy life. A submissive to her soul, whether she admits or recognizes it, she's always been drawn to the BDSM lifestyle. When her free spirited sister dies and leaves her Naughty Bits, a lingerie and adult toy store Madison leaves the corporate world behind to fulfill her sister's wish that she run the store. When she meets Logan, a self professed Dominant and Training Master, her mistrust of men and her snark kick into high gear. Yet, she is inextricably drawn to him. Thus begins their journey.

Madison takes over her sister's shop after her death and with it re-starting her journey exploring her submissive side. Lots of reach fantasies. She's been burned by ex-lovers and her trust has been burned. A control freak looking for that someone who had the power and strength so she 'controlled nothing but her choice to belong to him.' Her sister gave her to him.

The scoop on Naughty Bits

I loved reading about how the store (that you will experience from the buyer's point of view in other Joey books) come into it's current owners hands...
I love the back story and how it is so key to the current situation. And I love the characters and can't wait for more!!!

I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

“Relinquish control – on your own terms”

This is going to be one of those reviews containing numerous quotes. I did try to restrain myself but found myself highlighting section after section. In the end I had to leave quite few very wonderful quotes out of this review because it was just getting too long. Joey W. Hill has a wonderful way with words and explains the intricacies of BDSM in a way that embellishes the beauty of the life-style without ever making it sound dark, scary or dangerous. I hope that the quotes I share below show both the beauty of her words and the depth of her knowledge.

“When a woman gets out of the way of her instincts, and doesn’t let the baggage she brings from her day-to-day life drag her down, she’s the one who leads. As her Master, I put her in touch with those instincts; she’s the one who uses them to take us both to a deeper level of connection.” – Logan

It goes even further than that. Hill is the first author I’ve come across to take the time to explain why the idea behind a Dominant/submissive relationship is so tempting even for those who have no real desire to explore such a dynamic.

“Deep inside all of us are vulnerabilities, (...). Things we only reveal to the person capable of stripping us bare and yet cherishing the nakedness they find, not exploiting it. That’s a common threat beneath a lot of the Dominant and submission sexual fantasies people have, whether or not they’re actual Dominants for submissives.”- Logan to Madison

Quotes like the two above took my breath away. I found myself re-reading them just to relish in the beauty of the words and contemplate them before moving on with the story. In fact, truth be told, I enjoyed these insights and the sheer beauty of the words more than I did the story as such. I just didn’t like Madison that much, she infuriated me at times. Her actions, past and present, as well as her defensive stance towards the world rubbed me the wrong way and left me wanting to slap her or give her a good talking to.

Logan on the other hand was almost too good to be true. His Dominance rose of the page and flowed through me. I could hear his words, feel his hands and couldn’t get enough of him. I found myself resenting every single page he didn’t feature on and was very impatient to spend more time with him even while I wished that didn’t mean having to put up with Madison as well.

“She felt like a book he was reading, every word a page full of information about her.” Madison’s reaction when she first meets Logan

Alice leaves her lingerie shop, ‘Naughty Bits’ to her sister Madison who is like a fish out of water with her inheritance. But Alice goes one step further; she also – more or less – gives her sister to Logan, the Dom who owns the hardware shop next door.

“I’m giving her to you, Logan, but you might just give yourself to her too. For the first time in your life.” Alice, talking about Madison to Logan before she dies.

Madison has been dreaming about submitting to a man for as long as she can remember but all the men in her past have belittled her dreams before leaving her. After all the pain those relationships have caused her, Madison is about ready to admit defeat and concede the man and relationship she’s dreaming about don’t exist, at least not for her. Combine that with the guilt she feels about being estranged from her sister when she died and a desperate need to be in control of everything in her life, Madison is one bundle of insecurity and defensiveness, and it isn’t long before Logan finds himself on the receiving end of those emotions.

“I get that you have trust issues with men, Madison. But until I specifically deserve it, I’d prefer you not lash out at me because of what someone else has done.” Logan

Logan is the prototype of a perfect Dom; completely in control, reasonable, apparently able to see and understand everything his subject is thinking and feeling and, to top it all off, graced with a wicked sense of humour. In fact, he’s not just the perfect Dom, in my book he comes pretty close to being the perfect man.

“I’d give one of Troy’s testicles to know what’s going through your mind right now.” Logan to Madison

What impressed me most in this book was how very hot Logan and Madison were together even though they don’t remove a single item of clothing while together and don’t even share a kiss. The heat between them just from Logan’s apparently casual touches and the way he talks to her blew me away and left me wanting more.

“In D/s, chains are magic. Binding the body frees the soul, lets it fly. A woman stops thinking. She just feels.” Logan to Madison

I’m looking forward to finding out what will happen next to Madison and Logan. While I’m certain that Madison will continue to irritate me, I know that Logan’s presence and the way he deals with her will make up for any frustration I feel when I read about her. Logan combined with Joey W. Hill’s words and her wonderful descriptions of the world of BDSM have hooked me on this story with no chance of escape.

“You can be what you want with me, as long as you’re true to yourself.” Logan to Madison

Cliffhanger! This is NOT a complete story.

Good writing, interesting story, but this is only one of several that would complete the story, at least 4 required to finish it seems, though I'm not absolutely sure...I would have rated it a 4 except for the cliffhanger .
