Jimmy, the little bunny, likes to eat candy, but doesn’t even want to taste fruits and vegetables. He sneaks into the kitchen to try to find a bag with candies that was hidden inside the cupboard. What happens right after Jimmy climbs up to reach the bag of candy? You will find out when you read this illustrated children’s book. Since that day, Jimmy starts to develop healthy eating habits and even likes to eat his fruits and vegetables.
With a delightful rabbit family showing the importance of fruits and vegetables kids hang on every page wanting to know more. The family dynamic is strong and quite encouraging.
I got this one because the fruit and vegetable theme intrigued me. I never expected my youngest granddaughter to love it, but this book has always been her favorite. She'd asked me to read it to her over and over, now she reads it to herself. It's a short book and the illustrations are extremely simple. It's not the type of book you'd expect kids to love so much, but they do, and the lesson within sticks with them.
This author and mom has a special talent to touch young readers.
I received a free kindle book of I Love to Eat Fruits and Vegetables by Shelley Admont from Amazon for fair review. I gave it almost a four star.
It was a charming little tale about a family of bunnies. The youngest bunny only wanted to eat candy. Candy for breakfast, lunch & dinner & in between. He sneaks into the kitchen & props a variety of items to climb up to the high cabinet where his mother has placed the candy out of reach. He tumbles down in a crash & when he comes to his senses he has shrunk into a miniature rabbit.
His brothers rush to the rescue & encourage him to eat his vegetables. With each bite he takes, he grows a little. This was too much like a hare-brained Alice in Wonderland for my tastes. That's why I gave it only a three, almost a four star.
Wow this wonderful story we all enjoyed reading. My kids wanted to know why Jimmy did not want his friut and vegetables so he can grow up strong and healthy but when we got to the end they where very happy he liked his friut and vegetables. So this book gets the thunps up from us all. My thanks to the author for allowing me the privilege of reading this wee story this book I would be very happy to recommend to all my friends so keep smiling from wee me. xxxxxxx
This is an adorable book about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. This book can be used with younger children when nutrition is the topic of discussion. Although, it is important to let the younger children know that this book is fiction and that people do not grow at that rapidly. I would say that this book would be best suited for K-2.
I Love to Eat Fruits and Vegetables is a delightful story to use to encourage children to try new fruits and vegetables and one that my preschool children in the classroom loved and asked to hear again. The story brought out the concept that fruits and vegetables help children grow big and strong using a cute little bunny named Jimmy.
A story of why kids should eat fruit and veggies. The character had never tried the food yet he despised it. In the end he liked the food (of course). My question is. ..what had he been eating before this? Perhaps if it had been one type of veggie then the story would have made more sense to me. The illustrations and coloring were good and keep the reader engaged.
Great my seven year old already love vegetables but now she understands why she is not allowed sweets at inappropriate times, i would tell any parent to buy this book for their little ones, thanks Shelly .
The book was enlightening and it helped my kids to know that veggies can good for you and taste great.
I think this book has a great message for kids, fruits and vegetables are good for you. Read this book to my grandson and he enjoyed it. He is 6 years old. Thank you
I liked this book because it reminds you to eat your fruits and vegetables. And not a lot of candy. I put five stars because fruits and vegetables make you stronger and candy makes your teeth rot
Is a nice way to teach the kids the importance of eating vegetables... Jimmy wants some candy and he search for the new bag of candy in the kitchen but falls off the chair and this made him small.. eating vegetables is the only way to grow again!...
My brother kind of likes this book. As I read the book I thought this was an amazing book for little children that don't like their fruits and veggies!
I love that my son suddenly wants to eat cucumbers lol... I would recommend to parents with picky eaters who knows they might want to eat their fruits and veggies.
I enjoyed this and will pass along to my God daughter. I thought it had a quick to the point lesson, with a cute character and fun/ relatable story line. =)
A great beginner reader for Japanese students. With a confident ability in Kana, this can really stretch your reading skills. Lovely supportive pictures and a wide range of grammar structures to make this an authentic learning tool.
This short, cute story was fun to read. It is written in English while the Spanish is written alongside in bold font. The story encourages children to choose to eat healthy fruit and vegetables instead of sweets. The moral appears to be that healthy food makers our bodies grow big and strong. Colourful illustrations accompanied the story on most pages. The English written content was good and well-punctuated. I am not qualified to judge the Spanish sections accurately but they appear to be trustworthy.
A Cute Little Story to Get Little Ones Eating Veggies
This a great story about a rabbit boy who hates eating fruits and vegetables. My students loved it and it makes them think twice about passing on the veggies.
