Swans and Silence [A Twisted Fairy Tale, #6]
When Ignacia's mother died, she had to take the role of taking care of her six younger brothers. They're more annoying than ever, especially since her father, the king of the Swan Kingdom, sent them all to hide in a tiny cabin in the regular world. But even being cramped in close quarters is better than being found by their dangerous and magical stepmother, Annie, who is bent on eliminating the seven of them and securing the Swan Kingdom for herself. No matter what, it is Ignacia's job to protect them.
But when the worst happens and her brothers are transformed into swans, Ignacia flees into the wilderness. Armed with only a magical ball of yarn, she must find her brothers and free them from their curse. There's a catch: she must weave her brothers shirts out of a special type of flower. She also can't speak a word, not even a swear word, until they are completed, no matter how long that takes.
Ignacia's journey takes her back into her home world, Fable, landing her in a village where royals and others alike are plotting how best to stop the likes of Annie from taking over all the kingdoms. Darkness closes on the village and all the blame shifts to Ignacia. This one was the first of the stories if have never come across before. So it was as much a jpurney for me as it was for Ignacia to find out about her story and how its supposed to end. I can't believe am almost at the end of the series!

I was wondering if the story would add to the general storyline of Fable. So I wasn't too exited while I started reading. Such fairy tales and re-tellings are not my favorite. But somewhere along this book I got sucked in the story and the further I got, the more difficult it was to put it down!
And as I write this, the next installment is waiting for me to read so I know what I'll be doing now! Can't wait to know what happened again!

The stories {to do this without spoilers just giving the titles} are 1 Thread and Spool, 2 Wolves and Paths, 3 Frogs and Princes, 4 Towers and Braids, 5 Poison and Mirrors, 6 Swans and Silence, and Glass and Death.
Usually notice when lots of errors but by time did the first one didn't want to bo back and look at all the issues, and secone one glitched so below is just for 3 and 4.
What is with the huge flips in time period and who or what is being talked about? Pronouns, when used time after time, and there are large amounts of he's and she's or him's and her's around, make it almost impossible to figure out who is being talked about, to, or by who. Really needs to quit switching who or what talking about from one sentence to another. How can someone that is already in the doorway, open, burst in to the room? Don't introduce characters in to a story and not mention who they are at all, or until much later. If the woman no longer had the yarn, the girl did, then what made her think that the father could find his way over without it, either. How can they stand in order of size when it was just said they were all basically the same size? Then they were standing, according to human size, and she kept going through their names, why?
Why in some places is the yarn on the ground, others hovering above it, and then in others winding up or pulling the past bit away from that area yet in others is still there. It's so dark that you can't see a glowing thread, then you can see it lightly, but the person follow you, after it rolled itself up for a change, didn't have that light at all, and yet somehow manage to escape a few minutes after you with no light and no way to know where to go through a twisty set of tunnels? What does waited to see luggage and land mean, besides that nobody proofed the spelling, words, meanings, etc, of the story. Now the thread, all the sudden is actually glowing more as it gets darker, so again which way is it, it can't be all ways at different times for no reason.
How was someone's portal a pumpkin patch, when it's been said, over and over and over, that it must be a mirror or mirrored surface. At one point all sad because left the sack of flowers and how finding more back on the other side would be dangerous and all, then a couple or so sentences later, looking around for the sack of flowers that had already, in detail, been said to have been left behind. Sheesh, PROOF, ''all too good and hitting people he wasn't supposed to hit with that bow''. And was the blood on her shirt, as it stated at least a couple of times, or on the skirt which it only mentioned way later. Someone buys a carrat cake piece, and they get back 2 5's and some change, out of a 20, really? And how are they reading the really old versions of the fairy tales, not the newer cleaned up versions {I looked, and rarely, but yes, but no they are not 'plain' books but collector type with gold edges etcera} so would be an UNexpected surprise if the writer actually did ANY kind of research on any of this. And yes the one girl driving had spoken before, while on the drive back, keep up with what you're claiming has happened in the story you're writing. What happened to having to hold the knife up the whole trip, then she's turning away from the driver, and also focusing on a back seat passenger then on another back seat passenger, then just lays the knife in her lap, makes no bloody sense whatsoever. If they all got made silent and the king couldn't talk and Stilt couldn't talk, then how in the sentences after that is Stilt talking. And the one girl's talent for weaving things didn't die with the old evil one, she put it in to some sort of apple but it was a cursed apple, so that part makes no sense at all either. They are wearing flower shirts, but what about pants of any kind. AND what happened to the BOOK??

I am just completely ecstatic with the whole Twisted Fairy Tale series. They are fun, page turning adventures using the fairy tales you don't usually see retold. The sixth book in the series follows Ignacia as she tries to save her six brothers after being turned into swans by their evil stepmother. Not only do we get to see returning characters from the first books, but also a new villain. Hold on to your balls of yarn because this series is not over yet!

Another great retelling with a special twist. I love how the stories are each perfectly readable as stand alones, but all part of a bigger world as well.

Swans and Silence is book #6 in Holly Hook's Twisted Fairy Tale series and I have to say that this story does not disappoint. When we begin this story we are immediately introduced to Ignacia and her six brothers who are hiding in the REAL world from their evil stepmother, Annie. Their father has not come back to them in several days now and he should have been back by now. They are beginning to run low on food and gas for the generator but he told them not to leave. Well, they hear knocking at the door and they know that it is not him because he has a key and would just come in. The knocking stops so they think that they are safe but Annie is outside hiding and waiting for the right opportunity to strike and she doesn't have to wait long. Annie captures Ignacia's brothers and puts her curse on them turning them into swans. Her intent is to kill Ignacia but Ignacia manages to escape and soon learns what she must do to save her brothers. Will she be able to do so or will her story fall?
I really enjoyed reading this story a lot. Ignacia is a strong character and does what she can inorder to save her brothers. Not many can say that they would be up to the daunting task of creating six shirts out of a specific flower in order to save those that they love but she must. She has a lot to deal with especially when she encounters Macon (epic eye roll). Macon at times appears to be part of the enemy with how he goes on and on. This story jumps back and forth between the real world and Fable which helps add to it. This is a really engaging story that has some really good moments to it as well. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next book in this series. These are very well written with a few spelling errors and similar mistakes throughout but it does nothing to detract from the story itself. Well done.

Swans and Silence is yet another wonderful edition to Holly Hook's Twisted Fairy Tales series. Set in both worlds, modern day earth and fable this story line follows a less known fairy tale of Ignacias and her seven brothers. Their father the King of the Swan kingdom is tricked into marrying an evil woman and hides the children in modern day earth. When the stepmother finds them she curses the brothers turning them to Swans and only Ignacias can save them. Ignacias travels between worlds learning about much of the darkness and meeting new friends while bravely fighting new enemies and trying to save her brothers, avoid her stepmother and ultimately save her kingdom. She learns more about the evil in her world, her stepmother, her father and how he was tricked and tries to help right some of the wrongs that follow. She finds new friends, skills, a possible love interest, and more danger as the story progresses. As always there are many twist, not all or whom are encountered are as they seem and surprises and twist are not always good.
Hook does another outstanding job with the fast paced storyline, characters, interactions, and blending of all of the stories in the series while still keeping this a stand alone book. With every twist it pulls you in deeper to the series as well as the story always leaving you wondering what next. I look forward to book seven of the series and am excited to behold how this will all be wrapped up.

Swans and Silence is book 6 in Holly Hooks A Twisted Fairy Tale Series.
This one is actually the first in the series so far that I didn't know the original fairy tale going in. But I do have to say that I really enjoyed this book, probably the most out of all of them so far.
In this one we follow Ignacia and her 6 brothers as they are hunted down by their evil step mother witch. Ignacias existence was initially hidden from the witch so when she caught up to the young siblings in the real world, she only had the means to curse her 6 brothers into swans. It was then tasked to Ignacia to help free them of their curse which resulted in her silence until the curse was lifted. Hence the name Swans and Silence and is based on the classic German fairytale The Six Swans.
Ignacia was a great character and she was written very well considering she couldn't talk for most of the story. This story spreads well across the real world and back to Fable. We get to revisit with some characters we've previously met as they help with Ignacias quest and inevitably the quest to save Fable as Alrics plans to take over Fable continue.
The series will wrap up with book 7 Glass and Death and I can not wait to see what happens.

This was a pretty good book, that kept me entertained. I really liked Ignacia, and Mica. It was interesting following Ignacia's adventure as she dealt with everything, and I actually liked her brothers, too. The only thing that bothered me was the sadness about Ignacia's mother passing away. Those sad taints keep me from fully enjoying the book (and why I went with 3 stars instead of 4). Yes, it really happens, but I read to escape from those things, not be reminded of them. Other than that, it was a good book, and I was mostly happy with how everything turned out. I was gifted a copy, and decided to voluntarily leave a review.

The tale of the six brothers turned to swans explodes from the pages of this book were you are holding you breath until the last sentence. A great rendition of the tale is told here and keeps you riveted as the story unfolds. In the mean time an inner story is brewing and so is love. A little intrigue, a little pressure, a little in fighting, and a little betrayal, all of it and more. Plus there are characters and stuff that you just can't help but get in to. Well done again. Can't wait for the next story.

Ms. Holly Hook has done it again. What a fun version of this fairy tale. While she doesn't change much of the story, she adds enough detail and character development that the story seems brand new and comes to life. Plus, she does put her unique spin on these stories and this one is no different. She even brings the characters to the modern world again. This story is definitely worth your time.

I loved this book! This is the first in the series where I was not familiar with the tale and couldn't wait to see how it unfolded. I love Holly's take on the tales and it makes me want to go and read the original fairy tale. The characters from previous books are brought back as with others in the series.
If you love a twist on Fairy Tales then this series is definitely for you. I can't wait for the next book.

I absolutely loved this story! It follows the story of the six swans and the sister who must save them from their curse. The only thing she can not speak a word to anyone other then her brothers until her task is complete. I loved seeing how the characters in Fable learn to piece together her story and help her in her task.
