C. A. (Carol Ann) Newsome writes the Lia Anderson Dog Park Mysteries, a series of fun, romantic suspense/mystery novels which are inspired by and centered around her mornings at the Mount Airy Dog Park with her trio of rescues (rowdy hooligans).
A life-long lover of fiction, Carol turned to books and audiobooks during her decade-long recovery from a head injury that occurred when she and her bike were struck by a car. Years of immersing herself in popular fiction lead to imagining the book she wanted to read, and wondering if she could actually write it.
She is also an artist with an M.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati. You'll see portraits of some of her favorite four-footed friends on the covers of her books. She enjoys creating community-based public artworks. As an artist, she is best known for her New Leaf Global Good-Will Guerrilla Art Project.
Her other interests include astrology, raw food and all forms of psychic phenomena. She likes to sing to her dogs. The dogs are the only ones who like to listen.
I've only read "A Father's Kiss" by Colleen Hoover, A Slammed Series Epilogue. And it was sweet, sweet, sweet, the sweetest epilogue ever. I was really happy to catch up with Will, Layken and the bunch. And seriously, what could be more adorable than father kissing his baby girl, *sigh*
"Who would have thought she'd love the laundry room? She's just like her mom."
"Will being a dad is the sexiest thing I've ever seen."
Only read Colleen Hoover's A Father's Kiss - 4 ★'s
I had totally forgotten about this anthology till I saw a few friends reading it and I was so happy I did. It was great getting a little something-something about Will and Layken and what's been going on with the gang.
The short story is told from Eddie's POV and it adds a certain freshness but I was a little sad to get more information on her childhood.
It did make me laugh about what they were all going through. Anyone that's a parent can definitely relate!
If you're a Slammed fan, you won't want to miss this and besides, it's free!
Favorite quote:
♥ “My sweet is that, despite my exhaustion and how incredibly tired I am, I’ve never been this happy in my whole life."
I will admit that I got this book just so that I could read the Slammed epilogue, A Father's Kiss, and OMG Colleen Hoover, you absolutely own me! In 18 short pages, she manages to bring so much emotion! I laughed, I swooned, I even teared up a little bit!
Set two weeks after the ending of This Girl, this is a beautiful little extra – this time from the point of view of Eddie.
It features dinner at Will and Lake’s with the whole gang gathered around, and there is story progression for all. There is a fantastic round of suck and sweet, Will still makes me swoon, I loved Eddie and Gavin’s little moment, and Kel and Caulder are now 14 and freaking phenomenal!
The whole thing had me squeeing like an idiot.
Absolutely fantastic – 5 stars.
This anthology is free on ibooks, and I will go back and read the rest of it at some point. I just couldn't resist diving straight into this.
Loved reading this anthology, most of the shorts in the book were complete stories. I liked all the stories and as I am quite a lot into fantasy / sci-fi I especially liked Divinity's kiss by Brandon Hale, How Jessica met Simon: A tube riders origins story by Chris Ward and The Slave Who'd Never Been Kissed by Jess Mountifield. All three were excellent and made me want to read more of the author's books.
One that surprised me that I liked was A Kiss Through Time by Robert Thomas, it was well written and really conveyed all it was trying to.
The last short in the anthology (A Slave Who'd Never Been Kissed) was the longest by far and it was excellent, I couldn't stop reading it.
All in all, all the shorts are worth a read, and it will make you want to purchase further books from authors.
True love's kiss - A little amusing at points, but the ending wasn't much of ending. Nothing was resolved, and we didn't even find out who had woken the sleeping girl.
This moment - another non-ending. Not impressed.
A Kick Ass Kiss - Weird. About a girl dating a married man who is convinced by another girl that he'll never leave his wife for her.
A Father's Kiss - This was okay, I still don't like the whole Suck and Sweet game though.
Death kiss - about a girl who kisses a guy in a bar and gets necrotising fasciitous, because
For a Soldier - About a man who comes back froma war in whic his best friend died. I loved his mother's part in this story though, he tells her how many men he killed and she says
How To Knit Yourself a Husband in Five Easy Steps - I didn't really get this one. There wasn't even a kiss.
Mom's Kiss - Another strange one. A post-apocalyptic story in which a girl's brother dies, but she finds happiness when she meets more people to help.
More Than a Couple of Camels - about a girl who gets attacked by a man and her date saves her and says she has to marry him now.
The Kiss - Strange story. If no-one works, who runs the power plant? Who maintains everything? Who are the people manning the warships? Doesn't make sense.
Kiss No. 43 - Set in an art gallery where a girl is trying to get rid of all the customers so they can open a new one.
Moving On - Story about a woman whose husband is encouraging her to kiss his best friend.
Midnight Snack - Story about a woman on a date who gets annoyed that her date turns out to be
Friends with Benefits - Story about two boys who have been best friends since they were 4, then friends with benefits, but one confesses his love for the other, and refuses to be a doormat anymore.
How Jessica Met Simon - Story about a girl who goes out alone at night, even though it's extremely dangerous, because she fancies a boy who asked her for the time once, and thinks she'll go look for him 🙄
The Riddle - Story about a girl who is in a car wreck, and gets asked by these two beings if she wants to go with one of them or the other.
The Paladin's Kiss - About a girl who doesn't want to marry the man who asked for her hand from her father, but does want to marry the boy her father refused.
Friday afternoon - Story about a couple drinking expensive beer in a bar, and at the end of the day, the barman realises that they were .
Just one kiss - About a couple who are getting divorced, but give it one last kiss just to be sure.
Strangers - About a girl who doesn't visit her father's grave, until she meets a boy who goes with her.
The Gift of Gab - About a man who kisses the Blarny stone wrong, and loses everything because he can't keep his thoughts to himself.
The Graveyard Kiss - A boy gets turned into a vampire, so once he rises, his girlfriend kills him.
True Love - A man misses his dead wife, so her ghost leads him into the garden one night, where he freezes to death.
Revelation of the Angel Queen - I don't really remember this one well, something about people sacrificing themselves to keep their children safe when their village was attacked?
My Contact - A man is supposed to meet someone in a bar to give them a package, but decides he doesn't want to, and ends up kissing the barmaid instead.
The Call - Bloody annoying. The same story repeated 3 times from different points of view, which takes forever, and we never even find out why
The Slave Who'd Never Been Kissed - Rather long to be honest. About a slave who gets a Captain of a spacecraft to buy her, but then she runs into trouble because other members of the crew want her to sleep with them.
As a contributor to this anthology, I must tell everyone else how much I enjoyed reading their work. This is an amazingly talented group of writers. Anyone looking for an excellent sampling of work should read The Kiss. There's something here for everyone, no matter your preference of genre.
I got this anthology so that I could read A Father's Kiss by Colleen Hoover. It is an epilogue to the Slammed series. Definitely make sure to read Slammed, Point of Retreat AND the epilogue of This Girl before reading this short story.
A Father's Kiss is told from Eddie's point of view. But it features Eddie, Gavin, Lake, Will and some other characters from the Slammed series.
If you enjoyed the Slammed series then this epilogue is a must. I absolutely loved it.
Disclaimer - I totally did not read this entire book, I just read the Slammed Epilogue by Colleen Hoover. Am I the only person who didn't know there was an epilogue? It's fairly short but it gives readers a brief glance into Will & Layken's life a few years into the future & it was great!

I adored visiting this family again!!!!! I’m not the biggest fan of the Slammed trilogy, but I’m an Eddie’s fan, so I’m really happy this short novella was written from her POV. So sweet!!!!💗💗
This rating is only for Colleen's short story. Epilogue of Will and Layken from Eddie's POV. I loved it, it was so nice to see the whole gang again and I missed Suck and Sweet!!! Just loved this story, beginning to end. Wished it was longer!!!
I only read Colleen Hoover's novella because it is a Slammed short story. I love the characters and it's always a delight to see them once again in this alternative epilogue of the series.
OMG I just saw that Eddie and Gavin (from the Slammed series) have a short story in this anthology! I am so excited. I love the Slammed series and adore Eddie and Gavin.
My tuck and tweet fotthe daaaayyyyy! My tweet is dat I got a cute epilogue from Eddie! And my tuck is that there is no book for Eddie and Gabin.. :( I wish I got it already!
The 3 stars are because I only read Will & Lake's story. WHY DIDN'T I READ THIS BEFORE?? I loved Will and Lake's books and this short story of them having such a beautiful family just made me so happy. I love them so muchh.
I'm going to be completely honest here -- I stalked waited for this anthology all because of one story: "A Father's Kiss" by Colleen Hoover. Any opportunity I have to re-visit the Slammed series (ie: Will Cooper), I will jump at. I adore Eddie, and it was icing on the cake that this story is told from her POV. I love the little glimpse we get into the lives of our favorite characters as they settle in after the ending of This Girl. As Eddie catches us up on everyone, she shares her own peeks into two dad's lives as they lovingly care for their daughters and gently place kisses on their foreheads. Please excuse me while my ovaries go KABOOM.
This book offers up many great shorts in varying genres from various authors. I grabbed it for Ms. Hoover's story, but I found many more to enjoy. It is a perfect anthology for Valentine's Day -- oh, and did I mention that it's FREE?
