The United States has collapsed. Those citizens who are left are in one of two classes. One: Citizens who have undergone forced lobotomies, as mandated by the United Nations. Two: Those who fight against their tyranny. Petra Kingsley falls under both classes. She falls in line with the drones, pretending her procedure worked. Four years she’s existed among their ranks, hiding in plain sight, being worked to the bone and starved almost to death. Lawson is a bounty hunter of sorts. His target isn’t the guilty, it’s those who are lost in the folds of a broken society. When he spots Petra working in the masses, he stops at nothing to help her escape. But he has no idea who exactly he’s helping—and who will now be hunting them both?
Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.
Remember my love affair with Lila Felix - well this new novella series DOES NOT disappoint. She keeps me wanting more. They writing style is terrific.
Loved it....Ending of this first one was fabulous! I want more, this novella series will be a roller coaster of a ride! & I want to be in the front seat enjoying them all.
Law seems quite sexy, he better treat Petra right! I like how Petra is strong too. I'm curious on her background.
The setting is unique. The plot is fantastic. The characters awesome. I can't wait to hear what my besties this of this!
*ARC given by author in change for an honest review**
The mass, mandated lobotomies started thereafter. Those who protested or refused quickly met their end. That's when we knew for sure-we were hopeless. ***
Felix's newest book, FORCED AUTONOMY, is a dystopian where the American government has been overtaken by the United Nations and people are forced to be made into zombie like slaves. And forced to work in factories making products for other countries now like China. How’s that for irony? But there are still others out there that never got the procedure and they are looking to take back their country and help those they find along the way.
I am such a huge fan of short story books. Especially when they are made into a series. Take for instance Rachel Higginson's LOVE AND DECAY series. Gah!! I absolutely cannot get enough of it. So when Felix brought to my attention that she was going to do one herself, I knew I would inhale it. This is Lila Felix we are talking about. Her ideas for her books are so freakishly amazing. She takes something so simple, tackles it, and then turns it into something no one has tried before. She is brilliant! And for her to be stepping out of her comfort zone of contemporary romance to venture into dystopian genre, is big!
This first book in the series is setting the ground work for what has happened and a glimpse at what is to come. Felix has made a futuristic world that could very well be our future if we are not careful.
Me being the romance junkie I am, was looking forward to the stuff that Felix is known for. The lady could write a romance out of anything. We all know this. Her books are addictive and you find you lose yourself in them and the romance. But (yes I said but), there isn't a whole lot in this one. And that is ok. I see that Felix has to set the stage. She has to form this into a story we are going to believe and want to return to each and every time she publishes it. So to rush in the romance at the very beginning could be author suicide. She will get us there. I saw hints and flirting in the story. Not all is lost. So hang tight.
*** Running towards something new, even if it was evil, made me hopeful-hope was my childhood friends and she hadn't paid me a visit in quite a while. ***
A quick read and a must read. I already love the characters and staking out a few I don’t. I am anxious for the next books of the series and what Felix has up her sleeve. Buckle up…this is going to be a wild ride!
Forced Autonomy started out really good. A true dystopian setting and then the characters opened their mouths. I did not like the main girl, Petra and the guy, Law. The girl wasn’t that bad at first. But I liked her solo. She was kinda sarcastic-funny. And I didn’t like the insta-attraction. I didn’t like Law. Boo. Also, the book failed to keep me interested. Like, I freaking don’t care what happens to the humans in this books. I want to read 1984 by George Orwell really bad now.
We have US now gone down at the hands of UN. There are humans in the world but they have been reduced to robot behavior- doing stuff without any internal thought. It is scary as this is what the world rulers want to do to us, nowadays. All that New World Order agenda. Who cares? They want to desensitize the masses. This is what is happening in the book. I would have liked it a lot as I liked the whole backdrop/plot but the characters failed to keep me glued. It was told from the third perspective during the prologue and then switched to first person narratives by alternating protagonist’s POVs. It was a short read so maybe the next installment can give us more insight into the characters as that is what was lacking for me.
I dunno what else I can say about this. I liked it okay. Might give it 2.5 as I liked the world and not the characters.
Will I recommend it? I won’t recommend it, no, but if you did ask me if you should check it out or not, I would go ‘Read it but don’t jump on it’, as you might find it better than I did, so, ‘recommend’ is a strong word.
Lila Felix has done it again. This was great...she has a budding romance where everyone one has secrets from before the world collapsed. I'm really excited about this series.
I love Lawson...Lila has a way of making you fall in love with all her male leads!
But not so short that you don’t know what’s going on. It was explained why the Usa is now the way it is, who made it the way it is. Who the main characters are. I would like a wee bit more on the description end so I can picture them better but that’s about it. Good start can’t wait to see where this goes.
Grazie.
Novella series' are on the rise and I'm becoming quite a fan of them! When I heard about this series, I really wanted to read it straight away! I love dystopian books, so this series was right up my alley! I signed up for the Release Day Blitz for this novella and was offered an ARC, so I grabbed it with both hands! This novella was brilliant! I couldn't get it out of my head for days after I read it and I had to sit on it a few days before reviewing it lol! It was amazing! I did get a little confused at the beginning because it starts quite sudden, but it gave me background and such, which is essential in a dystopian book! The plot was just amazing! I loved the whole idea of it and I loved the word that the author created! It was unique and I found myself glued to the pages! I read this novella in one sitting, but it was really short! I wish it was a full length book instead of being split into parts because I think I'm going to be begging for the next novella every time lol! The plot was about a society that's controlled and the people in it are like puppets in a sense! There were a few twist and turns in the plot as well that I think will develop more in the coming novellas! The characters were amazing! Petra was the main female character and for being such a short novella, I connected brilliantly with her! She was stuck in a world where she was the one of the only people that could still function normally in a sense! She gets rescued from the controlled place and joins a group of people who can control themselves, just like her! Petra was a brave character and I think she's going to get even braver as this series continues! I just loved her! She was also pretty kick-ass! I loved her development with her love interest as well! Lawson was the main male character and he was so yummy! I want a Lawson! Seriously! He was so hot and so cute with Petra! I loved how much he cared for her in such a short time! Lawson was a dedicated character and I could see this from as soon as he was introduced! I can't wait to read more on him! I also loved that this novella was written from both Petra and Lawson's point of views! It was so cute to see just how much Lawson cared for Petra and vice versa! There were quite a few secondary characters introduced in this novella and I can't wait to see how they're going to develop as the series continues! I'm desperate for the next novella in this series! Absolutely desperate for it! This novella ended on one mega cliff-hanger and I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next! I'm going to be on pins and needles waiting for the next novella and I have a feeling I'm probably going to feel like this after I finish reading the rest of the novellas as well lol! You understand how much the cover for this novella suits it after you have read it! I liked it, but I didn't love it before I read it and now that I have read it, I can see how well it suits the novella! Big thank you to Lila and Inkslinger PR for an ARC of Forced Autonomy!
So I am going to be honest and say that I have never read a dystopian romance before. But I am a huge fan of Lilas and wanted to read it. I figured if anyone could get me to read a dystopian romance it would certainly be Ms. Felix. And she definitley did not disappoint. I am hooked! I loved it, could not put it down, did not want it to end and now have to patiently wait a month for the next novella in the series.
I won't go into too much detail because this is a novella and I do not want to give too much away. The United Nations has taken over the United States forcing people to undergo lobotomies. Petra is one of those people, all though no one knows that the lobotomy didn't really take, but she is pretending otherwise. Lawson on the other hand is a bounty hunter, looking for people to save from the world they now live in. He sees Petra and there is something different about her. She isn't the normal "robot" like person that most people have now become. He knows he must save her and get her out.
This novella basically sets the story for the rest of the series. When Lawson takes Petra back to his camp we meet some of the people that I am sure will play important roles in this series. People we will grow to like, some we may fall in love with, like Lawson and Petra, if you haven't already and then those that we are just not sure whether or not we can trust just yet. Forced Autonomy has a little bit of everything; a little mystery, suspense, romance and a little bit of that witty humor that I love from Lila Felix. While this is setting up the scene for the series, the romance may be a bit on the light side but t is still there. We can already see the connection forming between Petra and Lawson. And I already love the two of them together, especially their back and forth flirty banter. I love Lawson but that's no surprise because I fall in love with all of Lila's leading men. Lawson something towards Petra that he's not used to and has an unexplainable desire to protect her. Petra has this sense of comfortability when she is with Lawson. But they still have so much to learn about each other, so what happens when pasts are revealed. I cannot wait to find out all there is to know about these two characters.
I loved Forced Autonomy and know that this is going to be a fantastic series. Lila Felix did a fantastic job with the first novella in this series. She leaves you wanting more, wondering what secrets will be revealed, who can you trust, what will happen with Law and Petra. This is a must read and honestly a nice change of pace from what I am used to reading. Lila, you have me hooked and I cannot wait to see what you have in sort for us.
**ARC** Let me first start off by saying that I am not a fan of dystopian AT ALL, but yet the way Lila writes a book, you can’t help but fall in love with the genre she is writing for? She could probably make me fall in love with the way sewer smelled, with the way she writes. She puts so much detail into her stories, that you feel as if it is really happening around you. With that said….
Petra & Lawson are part of a society that was once the United States, that is before the United Nations took over and had other plans for them. There are now two classes in this new society, First one being the people who the government performed Lobotomies on and they worked, turning them into mindless humans almost as if they are Zombies. Second being those who the procedures didn’t work on and those who got away before being captured.
Petra is one the Government had performed a Lobotomy on that did not quite work, but to survive and not be found out, she plays along with the crowd and doesn’t care what is happening around her or to her as long as she is never found out. Well that is until Lawson comes around and follows her home one night.
Lawson is kind of like a Head Hunter of sorts. He goes around to the different cities trying to find those that the Government’s procedure failed on. He is on his way out of this last mindless city he is in, when he spots her…..He knows without a doubt that she is not like the others, so he spends extra time there following her and watching her. For some reason she isn't like anyone else he has ever come across before, she is special.
When I’d followed her the day after seeing her the first time, I waited on the roof of an abandoned building, needing to know if she was real or just a fluke. But I knew a failed experiment when I saw one. Waiting in line with the others to get rations, garbed in the status-quo white long sleeved shirt and white pants that resembled doctor scrubs, there was something not quite the same about her. Her hair was combed for one thing—it was long, brown—and so dark it was almost black. And when her eyes darted to the buildings above her and to the beings around her, I could see an almost obsolete tint of amber in her irises. ~Lawson
I can not wait to see where this story goes next, because when it ended Lila left me with my mouth hanging open, really wondering who Petra really is, and what part is she going to play in helping to win back the United States, also what mysteries does Lawson have hiding behind that tough-guy exterior and why is he willing to let Petra in, but never anyone else?

"This is how I’m gonna die. Not by machine or a shot to the head. I wouldn’t be lucky enough to just get thrown into the furnace. No, this effing hangnail—well, used to be hangnail, would be the end of me. A throbbing, pustule filled toe cavity would evolve into a full blown infection and then sepsis. Yes, death by sepsis. Now that sounds like my luck. Fever and a bum toe, so damned classy."
After the end of the United States, the economy has failed, the UN has forced lobotomies to create a world of free labor. Petra has been disguised herself living hidden among the drones and with little to no food that is rationed out. Lawson or Law, is part of a group, refuges, who want to survive away from the government, or whats left of and take back their state. Law's mission is to find people that UN have missed or the testing failed on, this is when he comes across Petra and Law realizes that she is so much more than he expected! Can their love survive the horrible world they live in?

It was a raw and gritty yet realistic and it even gave me the chills a little. I absolutely love it!!! The refuges are more like family, they all love and care for one another. Lawson's love for Petra is so true, its sweet and romantic. It's definitely worth checking out, there's mystery, secrets and potential romance! Lila Felix will keep you wanting more and will not disappoint. I can not wait to see where this story goes, I read this in one setting and now I'm desperate need for the second installment!!!
"Running towards something new, even if it was evil, made me hopeful-hope was my childhood friends and she hadn't paid me a visit in quite a while"
In Lila Felix's thrilling & almost too realistic new book "Forced Autonomy" (Phase 1) the government has discovered the most disturbing of nightmares & unleashed the unthinkable upon its people. Through forced lobotomies, the public has succumbed to a shell of of their former lives as mindless slaves working for free. In order to survive, Petra Kingsley has hidden among the "drones" working long hard hours with little or no food. Her plan has worked for four long years. Petra's hellish life changes when she meets Lawson *sigh*
Lawson *sigh again* has been able to hide from the government living on the outskirts of cities in well run camps full of refugees hiding from the tyranny of the government. Lawson has made it his mission to save people like Petra & bring them back to his settlement where they can enjoy simple pleasures like soap, food & a bed (no for real y'all)
When Lawson discovers Petra, he realizes that she is so much more than he expected. Can these two find love in such a soul crushing world?
I Absolutely LOVED this story!!! It was so raw, gritty & realistic it honestly scared me a little!! Lila goes into such detail about the collapse of society, it's like she had coffee with Nostradamus!! No worries y'all, this book isn't all zombified people, the evil government, people living in colonies hoping to avoid forced lobotomies. The friendships in Lawson's group is more like a family. Each pulling his/her own weight & wanting the best for the group as a whole.
And Petra & Lawson *sigh* Can I just say Lila is a master of making you fall in love with her male leads?? They are all intelligent, sexy, fearless, daring & fiercely loyal to those they love. I honestly thought I had my book boyfriends from Lila down to a few: Falcon & Nixon (From her Love & Skate Series) & Breaker (from AnguiSH) but I have to add Lawson to my collection & I bet you will too!
Ok, ok, I got distracted over Lawson's yumminess. I wanted to discuss Petra & Lawson's relationship. It is sweet, romantic & often heart melting. Yet underneath all that is a smoldering current of passion just waiting to burst open!! Perhaps in the next installment Lila?
"Forced Autonomy" (Phase 1) is extremely raw & gritty but in all of that horror & darkness, love still blooms, reigniting the faith in humanity! It's pure perfection!!
Petra is forced to live in horrible conditions, starved and is acting like her peers. Little does the United Nations know that her lobotomy didn’t take, every day she goes through the motions and focuses in surviving.
Lawson sees Petra and instantly knows she is different. It is his job to help citizens like her. He is a bounty hunter after all. When he brings her to his camp, she is fed and is able to bathe.
“I missed human contact. Sometimes, I’d go to sleep with Mildred, just to be near someone.” It sounded downright pitiful coming out of my mouth. I regretted it immediately. I looked to his brown eyes to find reprimand but instead found compassion.
He pulled me closer and kissed kissed the side of my head.
Their friendship quickly blossoms as does their attraction towards each other. When Petra runs into someone from her past, he makes it clear that she and her past need to remain unknown for her protection.
Together, Petra and Lawson and their group struggle to survive and stay hidden and fight to help those who are like them.
Lawson will do anything for Petra and to make matters worse, he has no idea who she really is and how much of a target they have both become.
She popped a blueberry in her mouth and sat on an upside down barrel we used for rain collecting. The joy on her face was priceless. I knew without a doubt I’d do just about anything to give her that joy as often as I could. There was just something about her that made me want to be better—she made me regret who I’d been.
Petra is a survivor and though a bit marred, she is beautiful, smart and strong. Lawson is handsome and determined and has this pull towards Petra to protect her.
Lila Felix created a not so far fetched world. The characters are fantastic. I absolutely adore both Petra and Law... Law *sighs* I am already in love with him. He definitely makes a new book boyfriend for this New Year!
A job well done! I can’t wait to see where Petra and Law end up!
***I recieved an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review***
Oh where to start?? Hmm I guess I can start by saying that it was wonderful! The characters, the plot, the setting - it was all laid down. Now let me also say that this is a novella series so think of it as a book cut into parts and those parts get released individually (in order of course) so that's what this was - it was only the beginning of the story but it was perfect and now I'm really excited for the story to continue!
Okay so the main characters are Petra and Lawson (Law for short) and the action starts from the first chapter on. Lawson finds people like Petra who have undergone the lobotomies, but it never worked on them - meaning they weren't mindless robots. So Law finds Petra and brings her to where other people who are like her or are other humans who escaped lobotomies. When they back to the camp with the others, you get more background as to had happens and what is happening. You also discover a secret about Petra and I could tell that it is going to play a role in the story and which was even more confirmed when I get to the end and then BAM! cliffhanger! And I definitely didn't see it coming cause really how are supposed to know that friends are actually the enemy?!?! But anyways I also wanted to touch on the romance between Petra and Lawson, okay? Okay they are cute and I tend to think that every couple in every book is cute and adorable, but seriously they are! Lawson was always making sure that Petra was taken care of and he would take care of her and, and it's just adorable! When the end had come, I was like "Now that's love right there!" and "I didn't see that coming" and "Well crap, I need the next part!"
So yeah Forced Autonomy was amazing and I can't wait for the next parts to come It was a great quick read, very enjoyable, and just a great start and I highly recommend it and the author as well! I give it 5/5 stars!!
This is a series I can not get enough of, in Forced Autonomy the United Nations have taken over the United States and now the U.S. looks like and is run like a third world country. After the president is assassinated the U.N. begins lobotomies on the people to control them. But there is those few that either escaped the cities before they were caught or those that the lobotomies did not work on.
Forced Autonomy is told in two-character views: Lawson and Petra. In phase 1 we are introduced to Lawson the guy who looks for those people in the cities that are hiding out or going through the motions in hope to not get caught, Lawson's job is to find them and hope they will follow him out of the city to what he feels is freedom. In Phase 1, Petra is his target and when he finally finds her she tries to shank him, but ends up believing him when he says freedom is just a short drive away. In Phase 2 we find that freedom is not always what we think it is and possibly just as worse as being under U.N. rule. Phase 3 is about finding the truth however far one needs to go to get it.
What I love about this novella series is it is fast paced, a great love story that meshes well in the story and does not take over it, and the mysteries and dangers that lurk throughout the story. When I describe this novella series to people I tell them it is similar to the show The Walking Dead without the actual zombies, meaning there is a group of people running and dodging either the U.N. or people with different interests that could harm the group, funny, one may be within the group itself.
So worth reading! Great writing and just pulls you in and refuses to let you go!
Fun start to a series. I liked all the characters and it had a nice flow. I especially liked the two points of view. Full review to follow: Here is is... Forced Autonomy For a short novella a lot was packed into this story. Petra lives in a world where the United States is a thing of the past. It fell into decay and was taken over by the United Nations. They forced each citizen to undergo a lobotomy and work in factories for 12 hours a day (for free) and sell the good to other countries. Petra’s lobotomy did not work or was botch somehow (it isn’t fully explained but hinted at that we will be told later). She lives among the drones pretending to feel nothing. Then one day Lawson, out scouting for people who still have their minds, spots her and brings her back to his encampment. Petra’s father has something to do with the fall of the United States. When she gets to the encampment she meets up with her father’s advisor, Odin. He has not told anyone of his government connections and tells Petra to keep her identity secret as well. This is the set up for the series. Odin has a plan for Petra and we aren’t sure if they are for good or not. Law is smitten with Petra from the start and it is refreshing that there is no love triangle or (gasp!) brother involved here. Even the supporting characters are well fleshed out and entertaining. Creek, like the water not the sound, is bubbly and enthusiastic. Shep is goofy and adds a touch of light hearted fun. And those are just a few. The story switches POV from Petra and Law. I love the effect it gives the book. Plenty of imagery and emotion. I will be keeping up with this series!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first installment of a novella series, and it does a fantastic job of chronicling the current state of things and the scarily plausible collapse of The United States that brought us here.
I laughed, probably much more than should be appropriate at the bravely detailed descriptions of hygiene, or rather lack thereof that would normally just be glossed over, but it’s first and foremost in our main characters mind.
Much of this episode is spent setting up the foundation of what is sure to be a great series that sports an interesting cast of characters so far with lots of romantic and not so romantic tension already building as the hormones and the secrets start to pile up.
The more I think about it, the creepier the settings becomes. It’s an odd hybrid between your typical dystopian setting and a post apocalyptic one. Imagine your city today, the people are there mindlessly living and working away in factories. But with no free will there’s no use for anything else. The malls, stores, restaurants, parks, libraries, and all of those kind of “unnecessary” places would be just empty and unused.
For every detail we're given or question answered, two more questions pop up, and I can't wait for the next issue to see if they get answered!
4 1/2 Stars! Lately I've been really enjoying serialised novels, but this one seems to have real potential as a dystopian NA novella series with some serious kick! The beginning is so dark and depressing and the setting is bland and at the same time utterly vile that I could see, hear, taste and definitely feel the dystopian creepiness oozing on everything. This novella has all the ingredients that dystopian fans crave: a fierce heroine from a mysterious, infamous family, the bad boy love interest with a secret past, dystopian themes of control (and forced lobotomies) and a rebellious band of misfits that are struggling against a corrupt government.
I love the fact that the author, Lila Felix, alternates the POV's between Petra and Law (love the names) and the romantic attraction between them is real, straight forward and without any pretense. The supporting characters thus far are shaping up to be complicated, likeable and at times comical. Felix does an excellent job of writing in a way that the settings are tangible and the words spark an abundance of sensory reactions. I'm going to rush right into the next novella for sure. I guess my general feeling about Phase 1...it's just a plain cool read.
Normally, I'm not into dystopian BUT I'm into Lila Felix's writing so I was happy to give Forced Autonomy a shot. And guess what? I REALLY liked it! Like, as soon as I finished reading I sent her a message telling her I needed more. The story takes place in the USA, which I really enjoyed. It was like food for thought, it made me wonder "could this really happen to us."
I can't wait for more, Petra was rescued from her horrible living conditions by the good looking Law and I'm looking forward to seeing where that may lead to. Lila has a knack for romance stories that make me smile. She encounters someone from her past who reminds how important she is and how important it is she not reveal who she is, so I can't wait to get those answers because something tells me, the someone from her past can't be trusted and is up to a whole lot of no good! This is definitely worth checking out, there's potential romance, mystery, secrets, and overall entertaining dialogue.
This book kinda creeps me out because it seems so real and can truly happen in the end, the apocalypse. Government collapses, another nation takes over, people are forced with lobotomies. Slowly states are starting to take control back but as always people are on the run and hiding from the government. Most have secrets. And it's always a matter of time before those secrets get relieved.
This story is part of a short story series by the beloved Lila Felix. She has tried something new with this series and as always is successful in allowing readers to have a full glimpse at what the characters see and feel.
I need book two where the story continues with Lawson and Petra. Will her secret be revealed of who she really is and what will the others think? #ADDICTED
Wow! This story is very different from Lila's norm, at least in topic. It is, however, keeping with Lila's standard of awesomeness. This is so well thought out it might even make you a little paranoid with the 'what if' scenarios that will play through your mind.
There are so many questions to be answered. Who is Petra really? I really want to know more of her story!
What did I like: Lila blew me away with how out of her norm she took this. Very out-of-the-box, and it just flowed.
What I didn't like: I have no complaints, I'm ready to read the next installment!
Would I recommend this book: The fact that I'm already chomping at the bit for the next one should be your clue ;)
Lila Felix does it again. She creates such a vivid image of a realistic world with the downfall of America that could truly happen. Her words create no only an impressive image, but also make you able to smell the world in which they live.
The story begins with after the end of the United States where the economy has failed and all hell has broken loose. The UN has taken over, medical care and food are rationed, and forced lobotomies create a world of free labor. The story follows the lives of two young adults who are not part of the masses and who want to survive away from the government, or lack there of.
I would rate this book 10 stars, if possible. Looking forward for the next installment. There is a cliffhanger in the story.
This is a great start to what is sure to be a great series. I liked all the characters and especially love the dual point of view. In my opinion more books should be written that way. The story flowed nicely and felt much longer than its 56 pages. How did the author fit so much story into those few pages!? Its crazy. Her writing is amazing and pulls you in from the first page. Right off the bat we're drawn into this world and explained in detail what happened to cause the collapse of the country. Its a brilliant and very realistic take on a dystopian America. The author weaved in just enough romance to make me swoon. I hope Law doesn't stay away to long. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of Forced Autonomy and I can’t tell you just how much I enjoyed it. This is like nothing I’ve read before. Not a fan of dystopian novels, or at least I didn’t think I was until I read this one. The story feels so real and the writing flows, keeping you interested until the end. With each line, you’ll get pulled deeper and deeper and before you know it, you’ll start wondering what it would be like if this were to actually happen in real life. Would you be able to survive? Would you be as strong as Petra? Really awesome story and personally , I can’t wait to read more of Petra and Law and see their relationship grow.
This is a mini series that has me intrigued and I will continue for now. Everyone in America has been forced to have lobotomies, and now act and perform like robots who just don't care. But there are a few that escaped, or it just didn't work on. And that is how we meet Petra and Law. And they are also the reason for the 3 stars. Their instant feelings for each other seemed way to rushed. I think how close they came in the couple days could have been developed slower.
Lots of mystery was created, especially with Odin, and I will read on to figure out what he is up to. That man and his control over Petra are very scary :)
This is book 1 in the serial Forced Autonomy an it's pretty good. The world has been flipped on its head and now is a place that is unrecognizable. We meet Petra as she gets a second chance at life. Things are not always what they seem in this world though. Petra meets someone from her past and at first I was excited...I'm not sure what's going on now. Law is great! There's something about Petra that Law craves like never before. The writing in Forced Autonomy is pretty decent. I did find some typos but nothing so bad that it takes you from the book. There is a pretty darn huge cliffhanger at the end though! Good thing that I already have the next books! 3.5 STARS
FIVE UNIQUE AND FANTASTIC STARS! WOW! I can't begin to find the words for this story. This is brilliant! Totally unexpected and I loved that. I love everything about this story -Petra, Law, Creek, Shep... The writing is flawless. The story is very unique and well developed. A wonderful and inviting change of pace. I was in awe from the very first chapter until the end. This is, without a doubt, one of the best stories I've read in a while. Thank you Lila Felix, this is simply brilliant. I can definitely see a movie deal in your future.
wasn't sure at first what to think of this story. but while waiting for another book to come out, I decided to give this a look see being I love anything that Lila Felix has put out so far.... She did not disappoint!!! I love the idea of "episode reading" be it bi-weekly or monthly, it reads quickly, ( great for when you haven't got a lot of time for reading ) and cliff hangers, you are not left hanging for months waiting for next book!! that being said , Lila's imagination amazes the reader. Keep it up !!!
I have been in love with Lila since day one of her very first release, and this series is no exception!! I can't wait to read this epic (yes, it's epic) awesomeness that she is creating!!
It's a quick read (literally), but in the short pages you are brought into a world of hurt, pain, and salvation. Petra and Lawson are two characters that you can't get enough of and at the same time you're not sure what's going to happen next!!!
Very good dystopian story. My only complaint is that it was too short, and now I have to wait for the next book.... Of course I would have been up all night reading, so book one being shorter is probably better for my health and work! ;-)
The characters and story are written very well, which honestly is no surprise. I have loved all of the Lila Felix books I have read! Petra is such a strong female lead and Law is perfect so far.... I cannot wait to devour the rest of this series!!
I am hooked and can not wait for book two to come out. I was immediately sucked into this world and I just have to know more! The characters fascinating and the suspense enthralling. The world itself became a character, adding to the depth and awesomeness of the story. Waiting for part two to come out is not going to be easy. I am just not that patient.
