Original review. Oct 2021: I need to stay alive no matter what until Oct 2022 so I can read this book #priorities

-

One year later, and I managed to survive. Just for you, Kathryn Moon. *sends flying kisses*

And this is how you do it, y’all. Once again, Moon delivered the best sweet OV inimaginable. I’m speechless.

I read a lot, and after a while, lots of books start to sound the same. Same character archetype. Same tropes. Same storylines. Same smut. Some of them are better executed than others, but that’s pretty much it.

But once in a while, an author brings up something new that blows your mind. And that’s exactly what Moon did with this book.

I have never read a character like Ghost. Ever. Or the dynamic between Faith, Chance and Ghost. So of course, I’m obsessed.

Ghost is an Alpha, who doesn’t care about being an Alpha. He had a very abusive Alpha father and he refuses to be like him. Ghost is a disaster bisexual. He’s in love with Chance, but he’s a mess. And he’s into being degraded by Chance, who’s a Beta, but has more Alpha Dick Energy than any of the actual Alphas in this book.

The way Ghost’s little brain worked was fascinated to me. His need to be humiliated, but also cherished was so complex and fascinating. He was insecure, clingy and needy. Yet presented a very laid back and carefree façade. The way he wanted in between Chance and Faith, his jealousy- fuck, I’m obsessed.

Ghost’s raw vulnerability was incredible. He was honest and eager and didn’t give a fuck about anything but his two people. He was impulsive and petty, and made at least three big mistakes throughout the story. And still, fml but I love him, your honor. He’s a mess but he’s my mess.

Chance was just irresistible. He was a Beta in an Alpha world, and he resented that. He had created this commanding, cold and mean persona to survive. But Faith brought a softens in him that was addictive. His dirty talking was amazing, his confidence and cockiness. Phew 😮‍💨

I loved how Faith transformed him, and gave him the confidence to end the toxic relationship he had been in with Ghost for years. Faith showed Chance he was enough just the way he was, and that designation meant nothing. She prioritized him, and Chance flourished and grew under that love into someone even more amazing.

Ghost’s fascination with this new Chance, his burning jealousy but also him wanting to be a part of what these two had created… the way he sobbed when he felt the love between Chance and Faith… And how they accepted him in and took care of him. Chefs kiss masterpiece.

Honestly, I wish this book had focused only on those three. We could’ve gotten much more relationship development that way. Bear and King were great characters and in any other book, I’d be obsessed. But they couldn’t compare with the dynamic between Chance, Faith and Ghost…

I loved to see Eve, Adam and the rest of their pack again. I thought that was so cleverly done.

I’m sad this seems to be the last sweet omegaverse Moon is giving us for a while, but what a way to end an epic series. I can’t but bow at the queen.

I've been excited about Faith and the Dead End Devils since I read Bad Alpha last October and we were introduced (off page) to Faith - the sister of Adam, who's the omega in Bad Alpha.

The Sweetverse series are standalone books by Kathryn Moon - with a few by Lana Cole set in the same world (disclaimer: I tried Lyric and the Heartbeats by Lana Cole and didn't enjoy). They can be read as standalones (I read the duet Lola and the Millionaires first) - Baby's book and Lola's book are loosely tied since they're best friends, and I'd say Bad Alpha and Faith's book are loosely tied since Adam and Faith are siblings. I know large series can be intimidating to some people, so while I highly recommend Lola's duet because it's just SO GOOD, if you want to skip to Bad Alpha / Faith, you can.

Are you familiar with the concept of an omegaverse? If so, skip to the next paragraph. But if you want a little context - here it is. This is a contemporary world (no magic, no shifters) where people are born with the designation of alpha, beta, or omega. Betas are the most common, think of them as "average joes". Alphas have the capacity to "bark", which brings betas/omegas to heel; they're typically stronger and more dominating, and they form packs of other alphas that center around an omega. And omega is rare, and they thrive on care and being spoiled; their presence calms alphas and helps them not go feral. The relationship between an alpha/omega can be sexual or non-sexual. For example, in Baby and the Late Night Howlers, Baby is the omega to a pack of over a dozen alphas in a motorcycle club - but she only 'bonds' with five or six. An alpha can bite an omega or a beta, and that will give them an emotional link to one another. In over your head yet?? The omegaverse was a concept drummed up in fan fiction and it's just a fun, weird little world.

Okay, back to the book.

I always get a little nervous reading a follow up book to a series I've loved. You know… what if it doesn't live up to the hype? Something I like about this series and Kathryn Moon's writing is that she has made all the books feel SO different. Even Baby's book, which also has a motorcycle club, feels worlds apart because of the set up and goal of the club. The Late Night Howler MC is a pack… the Dead End Devils are purposefully not. The DEDs are much more raunchy (sleeping with club sweet butts, random women, and are ill mannered and feral), whereas a lot of the LNHs have their own betas and are generally… kinder.

Kathryn keeps each of her new books in this world feeling fresh and different, because they're not about a particular friend group or type of person… they're about living in this omegaverse world, period.

There are four guys in this why choose romance - 3 alphas, 1 beta. I wasn't sure how each one would stack up for me, but I have to say my favorite is probably Chance, then a tie between Bear and Ghost, then King in last place. Chance is a beta, and has a chip on his shoulder because of it. Betas are at the bottom of the totem pole and he's rude and mean to everyone because he's angry at the world. Faith brings out the best in him, the soft side. I also love the "my boyfriend has a boyfriend" trope, which plays out between Faith, Chance, and Ghost, but I won't say too much about that. Except I fully want a book where the hero is a confident, cocky, charming fuckboy except with the heroine - with whom he's super awkward and nervous. I just find that dynamic adorable!

The whole set up of this book is pretty dark, I'd say on par with Bad Alpha? Faith has been kidnapped to be sold for her omega status, until she's intercepted and rescued by Bear and crew, who keep her separate from the other guys in the MC who'd likely go feral for her. She's wounded and has major PTSD and is half-feral herself, living in a survival mode state. Seeing her come out of her shell to trust Bear and Chance was wonderful - and later with Ghost there was more levity because she'd already gained confidence. The weak link to me was King, just because I felt he got the least relationship building (and yes, I wish there had been some 'daddy' moments!).

If you enjoy omegaverse or Kathryn Moons writing, I think you'll enjoy this book. It's one of those books where you just don't want to put it down. Will it stand up as a favorite in the long run? We'll see!

Kathryn Moon mentions in her author’s note at the end of the book that she’s had this sitting as a to-do item for a long time, and she’s now planning on stepping away from the Sweetverse series for a while.
That sunk cost feeling is prominent throughout this book.

I prefer Moon’s Sweetverse books over Kole’s, just because of Moon’s writing, but this is definitely my least favorite of them.
We’re lacking real relationship development & character depth for all of our main characters, except maybe Faith. We get snippets of different insecurities, fears, and struggles for our MCs but we don’t explore these enough to make it successfully interwoven in the book.
Our grand conflict ends up entirely falling flat because our two main villains are actually no biggie, and the real villain is defeated in 0.2 seconds. I feel like this becomes really apparent when Adam and his pack end up coming into the story, and it’s easier to be interested in Eve than it was to be interested in King.

Also, Noah fence, but I’ve got real beef with Ghost for biting Chance without proper consent. Big yikes. Doesn’t seem to fall in line with what we’ve come to know from Moon’s Sweetverse characters. I mean…. Eve was a psychotic and feral alpha and even she was better behaved?

2/5. Honestly wouldn’t recommend this one and will be telling anyone who asks moving forward to read all of Moon’s books in this series, bar this one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

DNF at 50%. I really wanted to like this. I loved Lola and the Millionaires as well as Bad Alpha. However, as much as I want to read about Adam’s sister, I really dislike a lot of what’s going on in this book.

1. I tend to dislike books that feature motorcycle clubs. I’m not interested in “heroes” that are making their livings through violence and crime.

2. Women are referred to as property and holes to be filled. If I hear one more reference to a woman as “some pussy”…

3. I dislike the behavior of several of the men that are gathering as Faith’s pack. I’m not super okay with them having so much casual sex and then getting with her. Because she’s an omega, she’s got magical holes that will keep them interested? But every other woman isn’t worthy of care and affection? The way the other women are treated in this book is just gross.

I just don’t care enough about the overarching story to put up with this. I like Bear. And Chance has some redeeming qualities. But not many. And it just goes downhill from there.

FERAL. OMEGA. FERAL !!! OMEGA !!!

Every time Faith got near an Alpha or Beta that smelled good, I immediately went “+ 1 to the nest!” I couldn’t get enough of Faith & her pack.

I loved every single word of this book — after finishing Bad Alpha, all I wanted to do was read Faith’s story and here it is !!! I loved having the different stories of how these two omega siblings handled the trauma related to their pasts and how they now live with it in their daily lives.

The spice in this book had me SCREAMING. There were such tender emotions and then absolute raw passion and then some very hot degradation. Knife Daddy wins the award for most creative 😏

Kathryn has written another one of my favorite books 😍 I’m already re reading it, very slowly, so I can savor it.

Background is a pink butterfly pattern. Review 5/5 stars and 5/5 spice. Cover: Faith & The Dead End Devils by Kathryn Moon. A Sweetverse Novel. cannot BELIEVE this series is over!! it was soooo fun and i especially loved this installment as a companion to the previous one. kathryn moon's writing and characters continue to be some of the best developed i've seen in the romance genre and i will not tolerate any slander against this book. the first half was absolutely worth five stars but the second half wandered a bit and added characters and conflict that felt like they came out of no where but the sheer volume of smut in this was absolutely worth it. i can read 450+ page kathryn moon books in less than 24 hours with zero complaints.

also kathryn moon's first books are a helluva gateway drug because why am i giving 4 stars to a book that has

Faith has been on the run for years with her brother, she's captured and eventually sold to a group of bikers. Along the way the shipment is hijacked by a rival group of bikers and there Faith's story finally changes for the better

I love love love this author but I didn't quite like this book as much as I'd expected 😭. The relationships were formed out of necessity and while they eventually seemed genuine I just couldn't get pass it. I loved the first H(I can't remember his name 🤦🏾‍♀️) and the beta, king was tolerable but Ghost? Yeah he didn't need to be added to the harem at all.

The writing and plot were as usual wonderful but the relationship just didn't quite hit the sweet spot as Baby and the Howlers did(still my most reread Omegaverse to this day) I'll however read anything this author puts out so fingers crossed for the next book from her

There’s something about Kathryn Moon’s books that just hit different. I wanted a sweet omegaverses and I got exactly that.

Faith is an omega who is rescued by a Motorcycle Club from being sold against her will. She needs to find a pack to protect her and she feels safe with the Mc. But, they are very adamant on never having an omega.

I loved Faith. She’s a feral omega from all the time spent kidnapped and now she’s not afraid to get what she wants. She still has the sweetness of a typical omega but has a backbone when it comes to protecting herself and those she loves. Even when using the basic omega-alpha-beta relationship that comes with OVs, I like how each of her stories have a different take on the dynamic. Like in this story, a beta dominates an alpha and we have an alpha who’s job used to be servicing omega’s through their heat.

I love OVs and Moon’s are my favourite but this one felt like it was lacking a bit. I wish we got deeper with the guys and at moments it felt slow. I was intrigued by Ghost but he felt more like her was forgotten and the rushed to fit into the story.

It still had that warm feeling to it. It was a softer take on motorcycle clubs like her first book in the series and I loved every page of it. Although this may be my least favourite of her OVs, it’s still a good one! Now that this series of over, I’m excited to see what she writes next and will be checking every day for a new book from her!

This is an RH omegaverse standalone, with a heroine who is healing from past trauma, and heroes who are in an MC. There's some MM in it, among 2 of the heroes. It’s a decent omegaverse book, and not a good RH book.

The plot: Faith is an omega who has been kidnapped and trafficked. The heroes are 3 alphas and 1 beta who are all in an MC. They randomly find Faith, and take her back to their clubhouse, nurse her back to health, feelings develop. There’s conflict with some other members of the club – and the club President is worried that having Faith there will tear apart their brotherhood.

Here's my main issue with it: the RH / WhyChoose genre is 1 heroine at the center of a relationship with 3 or more heroes, and the heroes should all get an equal amount of character development and page time. Otherwise, what’s the point of there even being several heroes?

This book is a failure on that level. This book is an MFM that for some reason, is pretending to be an RH. There are 4 heroes, but 2 of the guys get MUCH more page time with the heroine than the other 2. I wouldn’t have a problem with that if this was the first book in a series. Or even if this was a duet! But if an RH book is a standalone, I should NOT be 40% in, and still see 0 interaction between the heroine and 2 of the heroes.

I’m baffled by this. The author was clearly more interested in writing about the heroine and 2 of the heroes than the other 2 guys. But, she could have easily written an MFM book – as far as I know, nobody was forcing her to have 4 heroes instead of 2, if she clearly wanted to focus on 2! So, this book is not really the genre that it claims to be. I can’t give it more than 3 stars for that reason. (And, the unbalanced relationship made the pacing weird, too).

It was also too insta-love for me. The guys and Faith were saying “I love you" WAY too soon. So far, my impression is that in books that call themselves "sweet," that means there's less character and relationship development, and more insta-love. This book is not proving me wrong, there!

Aside from that stuff, it’s decent, otherwise. In every other OV book I've read, the beta is pointless and could be deleted from the story with no impact on it. In this book, Chance, the beta hero, is the most interesting one. He’s also got an interesting MM relationship with one of the other barely-there heroes -- Ghost, an alpha who likes having Chance (and later Faith too) degrade and humiliate him. So, there were some different relationship dynamics going on.

The MC element was decent. The clubhouse feels appropriately grimy, the guys feel threatening, their parties feel seedy. All the stuff I expect when I read an MC book! But that stuff often isn't compatible with a book that calls itself "sweet." So, I'm glad this one went there.

This is my first read by Kathryn Moon. I know she’s a big deal in the genre. In some ways, she lived up to the hype. She’s a good writer. In other ways, I'm underwhelmed, since this is not a good book if I’m evaluating it purely on being an RH / WhyChoose.

I absolutely love Kathryn Moon’s books and while entertaining enough, she sets a high standard and I got the feeling reading this that she just wasn’t as into it as some of her others in the sweetverse. Which makes sense because in the writers note she says that she’s had this story in the docket and is taking a break from the sweetverse for a while to explore other worlds and other versions of Omegaverse.

When I think back to Baby and Lola’s books they are just so vivid with a large cast of colorful characters with lots of personality and really rich worldbuilding. I can picture the people and the places. This one felt much more like a coloring book that wasn’t filled in. People and places feel foggy. Very limited supporting characters and the mains definitely didn’t have the same ooomph for me.

The entire story pretty much takes place at the motel the MC uses as headquarters, which we don’t get a lot of description of and a lot of it in bear’s room. The main side characters we meet are two MF members, who are on the other side of the pack and the girls are just “club girls”.
We have visits from Eve and Adams pack which start to feel repetitive.

Bear is great as the nurturing alpha from the get go, king is the reluctant alpha, chance is the dominant insecure beta and ghost as the disaster alpha is never really fully realized. Faith and Chance’s games with him and the emotional tangle make the bonding feel real hasty.

I wish there another amazing sweetverse to reread and love but it seems like KM is just not into this genre rn and taking hints from the content wants to get into darker themes? We’ll see.

CW I want to mention: there lots of talk of biting and blood (I included one highlight) in a situation with some partners that have high risk sexual behaviors like lots of partners and not being tested to ensure being aids/std free was unpleasant to read at times including kissing with bloody mouths, blood with mating bites etc.

I skipped Bad Alpha because 1) I wasn't interested in a female alpha, and 2) I didn't like Eve based on her appearances in Lola and the Millionaires. She's not the kind of character that I can root for or that I want to read about.

Although Faith -- the FMC of this book -- has a bit of backstory in Bad Alpha (her brother, Adam, ends up as one of Eve's harem), I would say that this book can be read as a standalone. The author didn't assume that we would know anything beforehand, and provided sufficient information in the course of the story so I understood Faith's background.

Now for the sad part and the reason for three stars.

This book was supposed to be my catnip. I love stories (omegaverse or otherwise) where the FMC has been through a traumatic experience and her harem rescue her and/or help her to heal. But... I was bored. I made it to 25% (chapter 13) and then I started jumping ahead. It was so slow-moving. And there wasn't enough emotion to make up for the pace.

Faith was kidnapped; I can't remember how long she was held. Usually, one of the first things people who are rescued will ask is what date it is, and Faith never asked that. In Lola and the Millionaires, Lola's trauma and fear was very obvious. But Faith doesn't seem all that fearful, despite her experiences. Sure, the first few times she flinches when she speaks up and disagrees with Bear, seeming to worry that he would hit her. But this pretty much goes away after the first day at the MC clubhouse.

The other issue for me is that it's never clear what exactly happened to her while she was in captivity. She said she was given drugs to try to induce her heat and they played porn videos and recorded her on camera to see how she would respond. It doesn't sound like they violated her, or even taunted her with the possibility. So she doesn't fear being touched. Mostly her biggest fear seemed to be that this organisation called Omikron (which unfortunately reminded me of the Covid-19 virus... Omnicron ring a bell?) would hunt her down and recapture her. So I wasn't able to feel her emotions along with her or understand why she was so traumatised.

This fear of being recaptured didn't pose any barrier in forming relationships, therefore the men didn't have to work hard to soothe or heal her, unlike with Lola. And yes, maybe it's unfair to compare the two books, but I LOVE Lola and the Millionaires; it's my favourite omegaverse RH, the one that sets the standard for all other omegaverse RHs. Back to Faith: the relationships were too smooth-sailing, so the author had to throw in one @sshole dude who was holding back and even trying to actively get rid of Faith. This reminded me too much of Sloane in Emerald Lakes by Britt Andrews. Gahhhhh.

I'm sorry, I'm going to talk about Lola again because in Lola, all the men were all about her from the beginning and they formed a circle of protection around her. But nooooooo that's not what we get in this book. Two of the guys are protective from the start: Bear, who was the first to approach her during the rescue, and Chance, a beta. Then there's aforementioned @sshole dude (King, the prez of the MC), and Ghost, who every once in awhile would go to Chance for a f*ck, but Chance hated it because Ghost treated him like a dirty secret, and because that f*cking was all they had -- they weren't friends, didn't have any other sort of connection or relationship in front of the rest of the club. So Ghost actually doesn't want Faith, he wants Chance, but since Chance is with Faith... yeah, Ghost decides he'll take Faith too. I was TOTALLY UNCONVINCED of the relationship between Ghost and Faith, and I didn't like that he didn't choose her for herself, separate from the whole debacle with Chance.

Anyway. Even if I don't compare with Lola, I still didn't like this whole scenario with Ghost; and I also didn't like that Faith went to King during her heat, knowing that he didn't want to be with her in that way, but also that he probably wouldn't be able to resist her perfume. She acknowledges that she tried to manipulate him because she wanted his protection -- the protection of a strong alpha. She hoped for him to bite and bond her. It felt all kinds of wrong to me. I also never understood why King was so adamant that he didn't want a pack... maybe again something I missed as I jumped chapters, I don't know. But I did go back after that first time and read most of the chapters, so I don't think I missed very much.

Altogether, I was very disappointed with this read. I was hoping for something absorbing and emotional and moving, but that's not what I got. I'm starting to think Lola was out of the norm for this author and that the magic in Lola is unlikely to be replicated, which makes me super sad.

I really wanted to love this book because I was OBSESSED with Lola & the Millionaires but that just wasn’t the case unfortunately.

I wish this story focused more on the pack dynamic but I felt like there were SO many subplots that I ended up getting lost a couple of times.

I really did enjoy the characters within the pack, and wish I could’ve gotten to know them as a pack but there were other aspects within the book that ended up being the main focus.

Faith and her guys were very sweet together, even with all their oodles of drama. She was severely traumatized and I though Bear and Chance were awesome picks for her first partners. I liked that Chance was a bit of an asshole - a nice shake up from some precious beta boys who I still love. King was a bit of a toss up for me. I liked where they landed, but he also was really annoying. Ghost I thought had potential but there was no real relationship development between him and any other characters. We learn more about why he was the way he was, but I disliked how he joined the pack. It seemed off.
I enjoyed the driving plot and the focus on PTSD and regressions that are a natural part of the healing process. Faith grew a lot as a character, into herself and as part of a polycule. Overall, it was well done.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: violence, gun violence, gore (brief), murder, flashbacks, panic attack, captivity (mostly off page), abuse (off page), SA (off page, not descriptive), discussion of past drugging, mentions of drug addiction, sexual harassment, discussion of foster care, discussion of trafficking, kidnapping, threat of SA, dubcon biting, mentions of abusive parents

There’s just something special about these books

Every time I start one of these books, I think that there’s no way these characters will fit together as a pack. Then, I’m always rooting for their happily ever after by the end. This was a great way to wrap up Adam’s story, too.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for Faith and The Dead End Devils. Honestly I was looking forward to this book and it fell flat. I just thought the reverse harem wasn’t that great because like in the beginning we hear all about Bear and then boom he’s gone towards the end. Also I’m pretty sure she never said I love you to the Ghost kinda felt like he was an afterthought. I did like the characters but I just wanted more. I felt like they weren’t developed enough even though this book was very long and sometimes slow. It needed less steamy times and more of the characters talking and bonding.

4 men 1 women and lots of smutty time, count me in.

I read the Lola books and immediately read every other book in the omegaverse and can safely say nothing compares to what Moon created with Lola and her men. I was very interested in the culmination of the omegaverse but was left disappointed with a lot of aspects in here.

Faith gets rescued by a motorcycle club and quickly forms a bond with 2 of them out of the necessity to feel safe after being caged by an institution. From the get go the romance aspect was disappointing as the fact that she formed bonds and slept with them was done because she was constantly wanting to feel safe and the heat was coming...in short, their relationship was forced and is pointed out several times by Faith herself. Of course not every relationship is going to be the same but going into a smutty romance book I'm expecting some obsessive want and need that is not literally "I'm only with you because you're my only option of being safe"

When it comes to the men, there was a lot of "club a$$" s€x and just...they were not very appealing as love interests.

The smut was great and imaginative and there was a different aspect to every relationship but it never felt like a romance.

Anything Kathryn writes I'm going to IMMEDIATELY inhale.

1 sitting.
Im inlove.

Faith. Birdy. Butterfly. Princess. Slick. 🥵🥺

A feral omega!!!! She is literally EVERYTHING I COULD EVER WANT!!!!!

This ragamuffin pack is just as fucked as Faith's brother Adam's pack.

And I'm here for it.

Adam's goal throughout all of Bad Alpha is to find his sister.

Find the biggest alpha and bond them, Adam did it now faith needs to do it to stay safe!

I love these Alphas and Beta and how they unwillingly fall together so perfectly

I was really excited to wrap up this story, especially given how much I enjoyed Bad Alpha which is the story of Faith’s brother, Adam. I would recommend at the very lead reading Bad Alpha first if not starting at the beginning:

Lola and the Millionaires (Part 1 and 2) -> Bad Alpha -> Faith and the Dead End Devils

Yes I skipped Baby and Late Night Howlers (I didn’t like it).

Quick Synopsis: Faith has been trafficked by an evil organization that takes Omegas and sells them to the highest bidder. On the way to her new “owners” however, Faith is stolen by a rival MC (motorcycle club), the Dead End Devils. Luckily, this MC takes care of Faith, with one of the Alphas, Bear, having experience getting Omegas through their heat. But the MC can’t take Faith in permanently, and they can’t be an official pack under the MC laws, despite what the growing pack members might want.

Trigger warnings: human trafficking, violence, murder,

What I liked:
-Honestly I mostly liked the scenes where we get to see Eve and the whole pack from Bad Alpha again, because I love that whole crew.
-I thoroughly enjoyed Bear and Faith’s relationship and how safe he made her feel. I also enjoyed the discussion around why Bear decided to leave his job as a Service Alpha to Omegas.
-I liked how the whole pack came together and how they made a decision together on what they all wanted to do.
-Something I always appreciate that Kathryn Moon does is give each character a distinct personality. No two characters feel the same. They all have different back stories, preferences, kinks, and ultimately different relationships with the Omega.
-I loved how a Beta basically acted like an Alpha even though he didn’t have those qualities, and he was treated as an Alpha by the pack. He commanded respect.

What I struggled with:
-We got a little bit of context around Faith and her smarts (she’s able to code), but I do wish we had gotten more of that. Faith was intelligent and I wanted that appreciated/celebrated more.
-I am mostly upset that the series is over, but I will begin exploring other Kathryn Moon works and anything else she puts out as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, but while I’ll reread Bad Alpha (for sure), I’m not sure this is a re-read book for me. Although it was an enjoyable read, I definitely recommend it.

⭐️ 3.5 “why have one nickname when you can have four” Stars ⭐️

This was kind of a tough one to finish. And tough to review. But okay here we go.

I’ve avoided omegaverse for a long time now but Kathryn Moon has made me come around to it. Her characters are sweet (therefore “sweetverse” I suppose), loveable, and good communicators. The 🌶️ is truly top tier.

However, it doesn’t always sit well with me how Moon handles her female side characters. This book especially made me cringe bad. I don’t want to read an entire book where the love interests refer to other women as “club ass” — and apparently it’s okay to do that because the club pays them money? Yuck, yikes, blegh. Unfortunately, the moniker embodies their general attitude towards the women in this novel as being slutty, shallow, and unworthy of attention. There are some small asides where one character (Ghost) is strongly chastised for taking advantage of the “club’s” women… regardless, the attitude towards them remains. Faith never makes a female friend in the club. All women are threats. Hate hate hate it.

So, generally still recommend the series, but Lola and Eve have much better stories than this and I didn’t have to cringe the whole way through. Tread with caution.

The Sweetverse is my happy place..

Kathryn Moon's Sweetverse always hits the spot for me, and I was so into this latest installment.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Omegaverse, reverse harem, MC romance

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Faith was held captive and feral until she was unwittingly rescued by a motorcycle club. But Bear, King, Ghost and Chance have always said no to a pack. And they're not looking for an omega.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: I love every bit of how Kathryn Moon writes her omegaverse romances, and Faith & the Dead End Devils was another great example.

She gives you characters that each get their own deep development, and that each get to explore connection and relationships with one another. The spice is gender fluid and oh so creative. And then you get some moments that re deeply emotional and tug at your heart. All in all a recipe for a great book.

Faith was a fun and strong female lead. Because she'd been mistreated and then kidnapped for her life before the MC, there's a non-stop caregiver trope that will make you swoon. Then the guys were just... 🤌 perfect. Chance, the beta who needed someone to embrace his alpha tendencies. Bear, the lover and deeply emotional alpha. Ghost, the broken one who is ashamed of himself. And King, the head of the MC who has his tough shell cracked piece by piece.

An absolute masterpiece. And because Moon's books are standalones, you can pick up anywhere in the Sweetverse and get going. I have loved them all for their own reasons - you can't go wrong.

🔮 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗲: Easy. Kathryn Moon's sweetverse is all human except the pack dynamics and the peeners. It's super easy to get into.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

LOVED IT

I absolutely loved Faith and her pack of alphas especially her beta.
Faith was so strong and I cried for her and I smiled and laughed with her. I just wanted to hug her.
Bear I just wanted to snuggle up with him. He was amazing. And the way he took care of Faith from the get go oh he melted my heart.
Chance. Sweet and loving Chance. He struggled with himself with who he was. But Faith showed him it didn’t matter that he was a beta he was enough for her she didn’t care what he was as long as they were together. And she gave him the power when he needed it.
King!!! I found myself giggling at King. He acted all big and bad but I knew he was a softy underneath.
And Ghost! I wasn’t sure at first. Once I figured out the dynamics between him and Chance what they left unsaid. I came around. That the little game that they played grew into more but neither of them saw or wanted to say anything because of the environment they were in.
When he bit Chance I was livid. Then I learned that he did that for Chance and Faith so they had that cord between them and I was like yep he’s amazing. What a selfless thing. He felt the love between Chance and Faith and knew he would earn it also.
This is definitely in my top 5 of omegaverse now.
And a plus the smut was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 but I expected that from Mrs. Moon

This was so freaking sweet.
I loved how this ended.
I mean, I would’ve liked an epilogue with even more sap and maybe one more sexy scene, but still. This was great.

I loved their nicknames for Faith.
The sex was absolutely filthy and so, so hot.
I loved how her relationships build with Bear, Chance, and King. But I think I would’ve been 100% happy with this book If Ghost was given more attention.
We only got little tidbits here and there, and I think maybe if he had a bigger focus, maybe in the epilogue, it would have made this book perfect.

I just really enjoyed these characters.
I loved how Faith built each of them up, even as they did the same for her.
She encouraged Bear’s selfish pleasures.
She made sure Chance knew his designation meant nothing to her.
She helped King out of his burdens and holdups.
She got Ghost and Chance back together in a more healthy way.
And each of them helped her become stronger, braver, and more confident.
It was fantastic.

I loved it.
I can’t wait for this author’s next book.

This is maybe the best book I've read all year and has gotten a FIRM spot in my comfort-read pile, right next to Lola and the Millionares. I don't know how Kathryn Moon keeps delivering female characters that are so realistic and relatable without a single miss. Or how she cranks out men who are giant, dangerous cinnamon rolls but don't feel like copy + paste characters. She's a genius. This pack is delightful. Again.

Chaotic disaster bisexual Ghost is easily my favorite bb, but really isn't the joy of a why choose romance that you've got a man for every mood and situation? Been a bad girl? King. Need a giant hug? Bear. "More, please" followed by the cutest kisses ? Chance. 🥵

I love that even though this was another MC, the pack didn't fall together in the same way Baby's did in the first Sweetverse novel. It was a completely different story with motorcycles as the only overlap. So well done, so amazing. And the only MC romance I've ever read that ended this way!

TL;DR - HOW DOES KATHRYN MOON DO IT??? Go read this book.

I enjoyed the character development of most of the characters, but honestly, I just wasn't a fan of the biker/MC bar setting (a personal preference) or Ghost (his behavior and kinks). It was nice to get the full story about Adam's sister and what happened to her for overall closure, but I think my favorite story in the Sweetverse is still the duet following Lola. I do recommend the universe as a whole, but this one wasn't really my cup of tea.

I don't honestly think the author wanted to read this any more than I enjoyed reading it. I think she had sketched out a plot overview for the entire series and this book was needed to tidy up loose ends, but there was nothing really there.

This felt a little like Eve's story part 2. As soon as the wasted got hit it was expected who was next. It was interesting that she tried and failed the same tactics as Adam, but not really, since there was some kind of bond between her and Bear. It felt like she had more in common with Eve than Adam, feral alpha, feral omega, breaking the rules.

For a while there it was MFM with Bear, Faith and Chance. King was the one I thought would bite first after getting caught out. Surprisingly he did manage to hold out. The Chance and Ghost thing gave me a headache, but surprisingly Ghost ended up being my fave character in the pack. He was the golden retriever, heart on the sleeve through the bond, humping everything. It was kinda sweet, but there was also the bite without permission...somehow still sweet.

Chance was a badass, playing with Eve and his little fight scene. Think he done the most. Lethal and patient. Only issue with him was the stuff with Ghost. Bear was adorable, schooling everyone on how to take care of an omega, even Eve's pack. Curious about Grim, he seemed to stand out as the survivor and wanting his own back. Didn't care much for Rider. A lot of sex and then the story got hijacked by Eve. The cold eggs and floppy bacon made me shudder. Sweet pack.

This has been on my “I’m so excited to read this, but I’m gonna save it because I’m too excited to read it” list for a while, and I might have overhyped it in my head. 😕

The good: Kathryn Moon writes a gooooood sex scene, and I liked that (for the most part) all the characters were very sex positive. And I really liked how several of the main characters were not true to their alpha/omega/beta designation, which gave us interesting relationship dynamics.

The less good: I also didn’t love Baby & The Late Night Howlers, so I’m wondering if motorcycle club omegaverse is a combo that just doesn’t work for me. Some of the relationships in Faith’s book also didn’t feel fully developed, so it took me a long time to finish because I didn’t feel the need to inhale the story.

I still enjoyed the book, though. I guess not every book can be Lola & The Millionaires or Bad Alpha!
