Playful and jubilant, Michael Rosen’s read-aloud delight captures the can’t-sit-still spirit of children with energy to burn.
This bunny is so wriggly! Around and around, on the ground, it waves its feet and drums out a beat. It just can’t stop! But, phew—it’s tiring being this wriggly! Melding an exuberant text by rhyming master Michael Rosen with bold and bouncing illustrations from Robert Starling, this third in a series exploring early childhood emotions is a go-to book to share with little ones. The author’s introductory note to grown-ups invites readers to use I Am Wriggly as a springboard for interactive play.
Michael Rosen, a recent British Children’s Laureate, has written many acclaimed books for children, including WE'RE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, and I’M NUMBER ONE and THIS IS OUR HOUSE, both illustrated by Bob Graham. Michael Rosen lives in London.
I Am Wriggly is a fun children's picture book all about bunny who loves to wriggle around, constantly.
The whole book is filled with rhyming words for wriggly to show what bunny is doing now, such as he's jiggling and giggling.
The book is hardbacked and is quite wide. The illustrations are dotted around the pages as is the text, which is also quite large for new readers too.
I Am Wriggly begins has a note at the front of the book aimed at adults to tell them what the book is about and that they are to have fun with the book, that is what matters.
I agree with the author in that the book is good fun and that young children will love it, and most likely be wriggling their bodies to the story too, so maybe not a bedtime story.
Overall, a lovely Michael Rosen book that was an easy, quick read but will give children a good giggle, wiggle, higgle, - I won't go on!!!
First sentence: I am wriggly. Really wriggly. Wriggly, wriggly, wriggly, wriggly. I'm so wriggly....my whiskers wiggle, my ears jiggle, I wriggle on my chair, I wriggle with my bear, I wriggle around and around, I wriggle on the ground.
Premise/plot: Michel Rosen's new picture book features a pink bunny with a LOT of energy. He's an energized bunny, for sure.
My thoughts: This one is a silly book featuring some rhymes and little punctuation. (The use of commas instead of periods was a choice for sure. Will kids care about this horrible run-on sentence? Definitely not. Probably.) This one could work with children as a read aloud if you, the reader, bring all the energy and drama.
The bunny is delightful and the story is intended to be a silly, sing-song style of tale, but it just misses the mark for me.
I love illustrated children's books filled with vibrancy, the natural world and its beautiful creatures. This bunny is cute, and of course wiggly, but there is absolutely no substance to the story. Having said that, if you're looking for a giggle, about a little wiggle, then this might be the book for you regardless.

This rhyming title follows bunny as he has a wiggly day. It is filled with movement and fun as it goes through the day as bunny gets ready to just rest at the end. The clear colorful illustrations will encourage the reader to play and move along with bunny throughout the title. This would be a great title to include in a storytime but the book would also work as a lapsit as well. I would recommend this book for all picture book collections. *I received this book as a DRC. This book is super cute and fun! I read it in my head, but I can absolutely see how much fun it would be to read it out loud in a silly voice to a classroom of preschoolers. The beginning of the book even recommends singing it and/ or having fun with how you read it. I think that is amazing. I would definitely recommend this book to families, schools, and library reading times with young children.
This series is great for toddlers. As much as I would love for this to work with a group, this is definitely better for 1-on-1 interactions, where kids can touch the different objects on each page. If you read multiple books before bed, I could see this being the 1st one to get a lot of energy out and then reading a calmer story next.
4 stars I read a digital advance copy courtesy of the publisher and Edelweiss This book is bright and colorful and the words and pink bunny just JUMPS off the page and wriggles around. Bound to be a fun read aloud with littles.
This story is super playful and completely relatable for young children who just can’t sit still. The pictures are adorable and there are few words on each page, which is helpful for the wiggly children that might be trying to listen to it.
High energy story about a bunny that moves constantly. Younger readers will connect with the need to move and explore with joy. I love the ending where the bunny stops himself to rest. A great read aloud to play with.
An easy, interactive read for toddler storytimes with opportunities for lots of wiggles, jumps, waving, etc. An energetic bunny wiggles all around! Text is light so great for reading with younger kids in fun settings like storytime. Pictures are colorful, simple, and kid friendly.
A pink rabbit is unable to hold still. His whole body wiggles and jiggles. Everything he touches and plays with is moving. He feels like he might burst if he can't stop wiggling. But he makes an attempt.
Another fun entry in the I Am series by Rosen. Lots of rhyming text and movement and opportunities for kids to imitate and relate to the main character, a little wriggly bunny. The illustrations are particularly fabulous!
Great for baby/toddler/pre-k story time. This humorous book has few words and lots of laughs. Perfect for kids that have a hard time sitting still, and reminding their parents that sometimes it is okay to be wriggly.
The ultimate interactive movement book as you jump, wriggle, twist, giggle, and move with a fun pink bunny who just can't seem to stop moving. Great to get the wiggles out and make kids giggle.
