The war isn't going to well for either side. Both armies lose lots of men and the Union commander decides to go off and replenish the ranks, leaving behind the wounded which, as expected, means Blutch and Chesterfield get left behind.

The end up taken, with the other men, to a nearly town to rest. Unfortunately for them, though, the town is a strong rebel town that doesn't take too kindly to Union soldiers being there.

This leads to a rather interesting confrontation between the two sides. Both sides have to decide whether its more important to let the town burn to the ground or try to save it.

Although that might not end up exactly as they expected.

As usual, really funny and actually good story telling.

Always great story telling.

Awesome read. The humour is perfect to the reader in the setting of hardship and contention! What times are usually not known for humour!

This is the best album among the ones I have read so far - more than being funny it portrays a weirdly sad image of the war and the sufferings it causes..

Rumberley is for me one in middle of some many Master-pieces of this unique series.
From the drawing to the action, from the comdedy and to the topic covered by this BD.
One of them is the cynism from the heirachic superior and how they can manipulate the soldiers.
Here, there is no manicheism.
