Librarian Carrie Singleton must catch a killer before she can say “I do,” in the 8th delightful installment in Agatha Award-nominee Allison Brook’s Haunted Library Mystery series.
Carrie Singleton is ready to kiss the single life goodbye. Her wedding to Dylan Avery is just a few weeks away, and a happy ending is about to be hers. But when a body is found on the lawn of their wedding venue, happily-ever-after is looking deadlier than ever.
The victim turns out to be Billy Carpenter, a young man recently released from prison after serving time for a bank robbery. The stolen money he’d buried is gone and Carrie and the police suspect Billy’s two alleged co-conspirators, his friends Luke Rizzo and Tino Valdez. But then Luke is murdered and Tino is nowhere to be found.
With no leads and only a week to go before her big day, Carrie is on the hunt for clues. She hopes to wrap up this investigation with a neat bow before she and Dylan tie the knot. Carrie has something old, something new, and something borrowed ready for her walk down the aisle. Now she needs to find the killer without becoming the ‘something blue.’
I was surprised to discover that this eighth book in the series is also the last! I understand that a wedding is a good place to finish - but what about those two little ghosts who have just been introduced and now we will never get to know them. Not fair Ms. Brook.
Nevertheless it was a good finale. A murder at the wedding venue sends Carrie into a frantic search to find the killer before her special day. All our favourite characters appear at some point and I will miss them all especially Evelyn and Smoky Joe.
There is a lot of action and drama but the book and the series concludes with a romantic wedding. I will miss this series.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
When the last of a series hits your queue, it's bittersweet. Booked on Murder, the 8th and final Haunted Library Mystery written by Allison Brook, was delightful and classic. A conflict between several people over a hidden treasure that suddenly appears, and then one of them dies. Who is the killer? Toss in the much-awaited wedding of the protagonist and her detective-ish boyfriend, and you've got a winner. Good mystery. Clever side stories. Lots of romance and conclusion to years of wonderful sleuthing and relationship-building. Really happy with this series and curious where the author will go next.
I was very sad to read, at the end of this book, that Booked on Murder is the 8th, and final, book in The Haunted Library Mystery series. Especially as this one - in my opinion - is up there with the best of them. Author Allison Brook has created a range of characters which captured my interest, and my heart, all along the way. Evelyn (the library ghost) and Smoky Joe (Carrie's cat as well as the library cat) along with Carrie herself and Dylan, her fiance, among others, grace this book.
There was plenty of action in Booked on Murder as Carrie worked her way toward her wedding, with murders, kidnapping and thievery happening. Carrie was up to her neck in the murder investigation, as well as working in the library and preparing for her wedding. Just as well she had Dylan to support and comfort. But would Carrie discover the killer before her wedding and subsequent honeymoon?
I highly recommend Booked on Murder but suggest starting at the beginning as this is the final book. With thanks to NetGalley & Crooked Lane Books for my digital ARC to read.
Booked on Murder is the 8th of the Haunted Library mysteries. I have read this series from the beginning. It takes place in the town of Clover Ridge, CT. Carrie Singleton works for the library as head of the programs and events. Sally Prescott is her boss and head of the library. Carrie was helping Norman Tabin, a reference librarian go through the old papers when they come across a diary of Verity Babcock who was hung as a witch in 1622, She was one of four killed in this manner.
The library has an interesting group of people working there. There is also a ghost, Evelyn Havers who lives in the library. Carrie is thle only one who can see her.
Verity was subject to awlful accusations and lies. She was accused of killing her neighbor's husband, John Whitcomb, by herbal medicine to get their land. He had been sick and really died of pneumonia. She is jailed and later hanged. Carrie is asked by Sally to write an article for the Gazette newspaper about the diary, which she does. A photographer from the paper is coming to take pictures of her and Norman with the diary. The diary is put in a sealed case.
Carrie is getting ready to marry her fiance, Dylan Avery who is a private investigator. They are getting married at their friend, Victor Zalinkas's home. Victor is away in NY but has given them a key. They go to measure the living room to see how they will be doing the chair set-up and also to check out the deck where the cocktails will be. While looking out over his property they see a figure near the gazebo. They go to check it out and find a man in his 20's dead. Shot in the head and neck. There is a shovel a few feet away from the body. They call the police. Lt. John Mathers comes. They also call Victor to tell him about the body. Victor wonders what was he digging for.
Billy Carpenter is the victim. HIs aunt and uncle had owned the house for 30 years before selling it to Victor. Billy had served 4-6 years in prison for bank robbery. He never told the police about his accomplices were. He was released early that week. His cellmate, Fred Rawlings, was also recently released. His childhood friends were Luke Rizzo and Tino Valdez.
At dinner with her great aunt, Harriet and her great uncle, Bosio are telling them about an old house that is up for sale. (Carrie and Dylan are looking for a house). It is owned by friends of theirs, the Wolcott's. It has been on the market for 3 years as it is haunted. They both decide to go see it as Dylan thinks it would be fun living with ghosts. After seeing the house and meeting the two children who were killed in a fire who are the ghosts. They buy the house.
After finishing lunch, Carrie and her friend, Angela go to see what the excitement is about with the police there. They find out that Luke Rizzo had been killed. Stabbed many times.
This is where the story takes off with all the twists and turns. There is so much going on that I will leave it to the reader to enjoy to the exciting end. There is mysterious emails, two ancesters who both want the diary, the dairy stolen, the death of one of the ancestors and a wild car ride.
The second ending is the marriage of Carrie and Dylan's wedding which okwas really lovely. I loved the main charactors who make up the town. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.
Carrie Singleton and Dylan Avery have found the perfect place to hold their wedding and can't wait to say "I do". But when they visit the venue to go over some details they find a dead body by the gazebo next to a large hole and a shovel. Billy Carpenter had just been released from prison where he was incarcerated for robbing a bank. It is believed he had buried the money from the heist there and that whoever killed him is now in possession of the cash. His accomplices in the robbery, Luke Rizzo and Tino Valdez are the prime suspects. Then Luke is killed and Tino is missing.
Time is coming down to the wire, so Carrie starts diligently looking for clues. She is ready to walk down the aisle and she doesn't want the murders casting a pall on the ceremony. Will she be able to unite the killer with a jail cell? Or will it be her wedding plans getting killed?

Sadly, Booked On Murder is the final installment of the Haunted Library Mysteries. Carrie Singleton has grown so much since we met her in Death Overdue. Evelyn is such a friendly ghost with a wardrobe to die for. She is great at pushing Carrie to do what she wants and a font of information. It was unique that both Carrie and her niece were the only ones who could see her. Other ghosts came to visit and Dylan was able to see and hear them too. Two special ones are introduced in this story. I have enjoyed meeting all the core characters in this series. I appreciated that they all continued to develop and form close bonds.
Not only did the characters grow, so did the library. Carrie excelled at her job. With all the programs she arranged the library became an even bigger asset to the community. It was fun to read about the children's programs and the wide variety of programs for adults. The expansion added more room to showcase art and historical pieces and documents. The new auditorium opens all kinds of possibilities from lectures to plays and more.
The mystery was complex and fed by greed. Money from a bank robbery and a diary from a woman who was hanged for being a witch in 1652 had people scrambling. I found the diary to be quite captivating, others saw it for the dollars it could bring. Were the diary and robbery connected? or were there separate suspects for each? I was entertained following along as Carrie uncovered clues and worked to make them fit together. Carrie and Dylan tried to not only catch the killer but tried to help someone tangentially involved. That doesn't go exactly as planned. There were some terrifying moments when things came to a head. I loved it! My heart was racing just a bit.
My very favorite part of this book though was the wedding. After everything Dylan and Carrie had been through, Dylan took the lead and got everything under control and in place for their wedding to happen. Thank you, Ms. Brook, for sharing the whole thing with us. I hate when authors skim over events that have been building for several books and leave readers feeling short-changed. She did an extraordinary job of letting her readers in and in the end, we knew these wonderful characters were in a good place. Although, I think a spinoff could be a possibility. For now, we can use our imaginations about what happens next for Carrie, Dylan, Smokie Joe, and all the people of Clover Ridge.
Booked on Murder was another Perfect Escape. Phenomenal characters, a strong mystery, and a beautiful wedding bring the marvelous mystery series to a close.
The entire Haunted Library Mystery Series is fun and entertaining. Each can be read on its own but for maximum enjoyment start at the beginning and escape into every one.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to the Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.
#BookedonMurder #NetGalley is the eighth and final book in the haunted library series by Allison Brook. Carrie Singleton is just days away from marrying her soul mate, Dylan Avery. Wedding plans are in place, the honeymoon is booked, and then Carrie is asked to write an article for the newspaper about Verity Babcock, a woman who was killed after being accused of witchcraft in the 1600's. A diary belonging to Verity was donated to the library and Carrie agrees to write the article, which stirs up mixed emotions. While checking the venue for the wedding, Carrie and Dylan discover a dead body, and soon they are involved in a bizarre investigation that includes a bank robbery and a sinister plot.
I really enjoy this series and was sad to read that this will be the last book. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for bringing all these wonderful characters into our lives. This is a series that I will read more than once.
I’ve been following the Haunted Library Mysteries from the beginning, and I’ve looked forward to each new book. So I’m naturally sad to say goodbye to Carrie and Dylan and Smoky Joe and Evelyn and all the supporting characters who make this series such a delight to read … but a wedding IS the perfect send-off, and the author leaves us with no doubt that Carrie and Dylan have a lovely future ahead of them. Even if we won’t get to see it for ourselves (wail!)
Carrie has a lot on her plate in Booked on Murder – an article to write for the local newspaper, an historically-significant diary to protect, a new group to consider joining, a house to hunt for, an increasing number of murders to solve…. and of course her wedding in a few days. Assuming she makes it there in one piece. Or at all. Yet even with all the different plot threads to juggle, the author keeps the pace steady and the storytelling cohesive. I remained intrigued by each new layer that’s revealed and enjoyed following along as Carrie (often with Dylan’s help) works her sleuthing magic. As usual, I especially loved it when Evelyn (the resident library ghost) makes an appearance – and honestly I think I’m going to miss her most of all.
Bottom Line: Booked on Murder by Allison Brook is a lovely farewell to a lovely series, but even if you’re just jumping on with this last book you’ll find much to enjoy, from the intriguing mysteries to the winsome characters. Carrie remains an engaging protagonist that you can’t help but root for, and the addition of a few friendly ghosts along the way gives the book a magical feel that makes it all the cozier. As the bodies pile up along with the plot layers, readers will love tagging along with the bride-to-be/amateur-sleuth as she tracks down the suspects, the motives, and even some treasures too. A delightful way to spend a weekend!
Reviewer’s Note: Followers of my reviews may want to be aware that there are some mild curse words scattered infrequently through this novel.
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
It was ok . The mystery was pretty good. It was confusing in a few little spots . I’ve read this series before and they’re a bit old-fashioned. More magic would help with the ghosts .
“Booked on Murder” by Allison Brook, the 8th instalment in the Haunted Library Mystery series. I think this might be my favorite book in the series yet. Librarian Carrie Singleton must catch a killer before she can say “I do”
From the opening pages, I was completely enthralled and couldn't put it down, reading late into the night to uncover the truth.
The twists and turns kept me guessing until the very end, and I loved the steady pace that kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm thoroughly invested in the characters and their lives.
I highly recommend this book to all my fellow cozy mystery lovers - it's a must-read! Allison Brook has outdone herself with this instalment, and Im saddened that it is the last book in the series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Crooked Lane and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Even though I started reading this series with book 7 and here we are on the 8th and final book; I was still very much able to follow along and remember who all the characters were. This book was great, absolutely phenomenal especially for the final book, and I for one, will be going back and reading the previous books because I have loved the last two so much.
This book left me wanting more and wishing this wasn't the last book. I had just started to fall in love with these characters and to know that their story is over is heartbreaking but also heartwarming. They are exactly where they needed to be.
Carrie and Dylan are just such a great couple. They completely get each other and even though they might not like something the other has done, well they have their back anyway. And them finally getting married? Woohhooo! Who doesn't love a good wedding story in a book?
I thought the mystery was very well rounded and I loved how they got everything wrapped up just in time. I worried there for a bit that they wouldn't. My heart was in my throat a lot of the time. Just a great place to visit and I have enjoyed so many of the characters in this book.
I thought the addition about the people accused of witchcraft history very interesting. And I am thrilled that so many people have been exonerated. It is our duty to write the wrongs of the past, if at all possible. I love that the author was able to write about such a passionate subject and not turn the book into a political warzone. I, as I am sure so many others, read these kinds of books to unwind and not have to think about other stuff that we have to face as adults. I really appreciate that.
Just a fantastically done book. I loved it a lot and I highly recommend this book and the series.
Thanks to Net Galley, the publishers, and to Allison Brook for the ability to read and review this book. All opinions are my own and are completely honest.
It is a couple of weeks until the wedding of Carrie and Dylan. They purchase a house with two girl ghosts. They get involved in murder investigation and still manage to get married. The book was an easy read.
Nice ending for the series with two murders solved and Carrie and Dylan’s wedding. I liked the story about the diary of accused witch Verity Babcock but couldn’t make the connection to #metoo. It’s fitting that the wedding portion was dragged out as it’s been nonstop discussed for the last few books (if it wasn’t Carrie’s, it was Angela’s). Otherwise, I felt that the series was wrapped-up nicely.
I received a copy from #NetGalley for an honest review.
I've read that this book is the last in the cozy mystery series featuring ghost-loving librarian Carrie Singleton. Events in the book do signal that may well be the case, but if it's not, I'll note for other readers that this is the eighth of the enjoyable cozy tales (as well as advise, as always, that it's best to start any series at the beginning). Still, like the others, this one stands alone just fine.
What it is not, however, is anywhere close to my favorite in the series. I admit to having a bit of an issue with a librarian who sees and talks to ghosts - but that was only at the beginning. Now, I'm quite used to "seeing" the apparitions and enjoying their insights along with Carrie. No, in this one I was never able to get past the concept that anyone would deliberately leave a priceless, one-of-a-kind item out in the open for a week or more just because a security system can't be installed till then. I mean c'mon, folks, put it in a closet or drawer with a lock on it already.
To the heart of the story is Carrie's upcoming wedding to her main squeeze, private eye Dylan Avery. In about two weeks, they'll tie the knot at the gorgeous home of a friend that overlooks Long Island Sound. The arrangements are being finalized and it looks like smooth sailing from here on; but wait, there's more. That comes when they're doing a walk-around of the wedding venue in the form of a dead body near the gazebo (whoops is sort of an understatement). It would be unnerving all on its own, but Carrie has been feeling stressed after being asked to write an article for a local newspaper about Verity Babcock, a woman who was hanged as a witch in 1652 in Clover Ridge, Connecticut, where Carrie's library is located. Not long ago, she discovered Verity's diary among the library's historical acquisitions - and it's now being displayed in the new historical section, where everyone wrings their hands with worry that it will be stolen before that new security system is put in place.
Carrie, as regular readers know, has a knack not only for conversing with ghosts, but of involving herself in police investigations. Unlike other cozy mystery heroines, thankfully, she does it with respect for and cooperation from the local police (albeit a little grudgingly at times). This one is no exception; since she and Dylan found the body, it makes sense for her to follow up a bit. And thanks to help from her friends and family, she manages to work in all the sleuthing and a little actual work in the library with finalizing plans for the upcoming wedding with only a titch of pre-wedding jitters.
The victim turns out to be a young man who was released from prison recently following a bank robbery - looking for, it's determined, the stolen money he'd buried. In fairly short order, two robbery accomplices are identified, but one has gone missing and the other has turned up dead. From that point on, it's pretty much a race to see whether the murderer(s) will be caught, the diary will remain safe and the wedding will come off with a hitch (see what I did there??) All the loose ends that might otherwise have bothered me are tied up nicely at the end. So whether or not this is Carrie's swan song, I thank the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review a pre-release copy in a series I've long enjoyed.
This series never fails to delight and entertain! The personal lives of the characters are so engaging that they draw you into their homes and make you want to root for them, then you have the mysteries that they end up solving. I love that Carrie, the main character is a hardworking, intelligent, community minded, caring person with wit and charm that make you want to sleuth beside her! You also get a first-hand look at her life, both working and personal. This mystery was very well crafted with multiple suspects and just enough red herrings to keep you turning pages well past the time you intend to set the book down and do something else. LOL, but then this series does seem to do that to you! Add in the whimsey of the library ghost and a few other ghosts that pop up here and there and you have a fun, intriguing mystery to entertain your afternoon, evening or even night away with!
As the final book in this series it sure packed alot with its punch. I loved the drama surrounding the library and it's historical find and all the changes happening for Carrie in her personal life.
The overall mystery was interesting with many red herrings that had me questioning what I thought until the end.
I am very happy that so much time was spent at Carrie's wedding. It was very satisfying to see the characters wed after reading about them falling in love.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
"Booked on Murder (The Haunted Library Mysteries #8)" by Allison Brook seems to be the final book in the series (at least according to the author's acknowledgments at the end). I feel like there's still stories that could be worked out. Like Miss Evelyn! So much still to unpack for her otherworldly activities and how she can help the little girls at Carrie's new home.
In this one, Carrie is trying to prepare for her Wedding and Honeymoon. However, there's some controversy over the old diary of a woman who had been wrongly accused of witchcraft that keeps sucking her into local drama. Carrie is also approached to be part of yet another group in town and there's a death found at the site of where she's to have her wedding. Wow, that's a lot! Oh, and she is buying a haunted house.
It all works out in the end. There's some good action scenes. Not much really in the way of an investigation because it's pretty much down to a few people that are all involved in some way or another. It just shakes out to who did what and why that needs figuring out.
I will miss this series. I hope there's some sort of spin off in the works. Maybe Carrie's cousin that can also see Miss Evelyn will get her own series, but fast forward to when she's an adult. She could even be in a different town seeing ghosts there and her favorite cousin could visit her.
Booked on murder Weddings are elaborate events and require planning and booking the caterer, music, food creating the guest lists and seating arrangements for starters: but anyone that knows Carrie Singleton won’t be surprised by the first hurdle she has to overcome: yes you guessed it none other than a dead body on the lawn when the ceremony is to take place. As the next murder happens leaving g only Tino another prisoner was realized, Freda Rollins and here is where it gets more dangerous for everyone. Verity Babcock becomes a primary character even in death as Carrie is asked by the head of the library through her boss, Sally to write an article for the Gazette about her and here is where it get tense, two people claim the diary belongs to them because they are distant relatives of Verity and the threats start. But first it has to be authenticated and then security needs to make sure it’s locked away but that is where it get more dangerous for even. Winifred Thompson and Garrett Thompson are going at it for who owns the diary and is she seeking exoneration for her ancestor or who was hung as a witch or is there another reason? Then an attempt to steal the diary and Carrie sees someone in the historical room but the diary is still there but not for long. Winifred is attacked by someone requesting full payment for a job which was botched and what happens and witnessed by Carrie sends her in pursuit of the person who grabs her bag, pushes her and someone that joins in flight. This diary might be valuable or maybe not and it has to be authenticated first but the thieves are far from done and the threats against Carrie real added in the pressing the wedding plans still unresolved and a mysterious email requesting help for one of the burglars sends her in a tailspin to find this person and things get even more dire, dangerous and then another murder and poor John is besides himself as Carrie is in the middle of it all and he just wants to escape it if he could. Then when the diary is stolen Ted Ramisson the library’s lawyer alerts antiquarians, who buy and sell old books, pamphlets and papers within a 50 mile radius to be on the lookout for the diary. Dylan and Carrie are getting married in two weeks but what an action packed two weeks it will turn out to be. Along with wedding planning there is a theft from the library, murder and a campaign to exonerate accused witches from the 17th century. I have mixed feelings about this series. The characters are pleasant but not too memorable. The ghost that makes it The Haunted Library series just seems sort of contrived, what little she contributes to the plots would be just the same if she was alive and she makes only a few brief appearances this time around. The cat also seems superfluous, just there because a cozy mystery needs a cute cat or dog, as other than being taken back and forth to the library and being fed he is just there. This entry actually focuses more on the Carrie and Dylan’s wedding and plans for their future with almost every few pages having Carrie musing upon - or telling Dylan - how happy she is to marry him as he loves her as she is and does not want to change her than it does on an actual mystery even though there are several murders as well as a subplot about the injustices of the 17th century witch trials. Possibly the most interesting part is the two new ghosts who make an appearance, and whose fates we would like to know more about, but as the author states this is the last entry in the series, that is a storyline that unfortunately will not be explored. Overall while not my favorite cozy mystery series these are a quick and pleasant way to pass a lazy Sunday.
When you have been known to regularly assist the police with their investigations, it's probably unrealistic to think the run up to your wedding will be smooth and murder free! Carrie Singleton is getting married in two weeks, but finding a dead body at the venue looks to be putting a spanner in the works!
With a major historical find stirring emotions at the library where Carrie works and the murder investigation she’s determined to keep out of, even when everyone expects her to be involved, the days are rushing by. With fiance Dylan Avery close at hand, Carrie finds herself unable to resist having a quick look! What she finds quickly escalates into a dangerous hunt for a desperate man, and as the death count increases, she begins to wonder if getting to the altar may be a step too far!
Book eight in this wonderful cosy mystery series is, sadly, the final one. There is always such a feel-good factor to these stories that I shall be sad to see this end. Once again there is a complicated, twisty, turny, murder mystery to solve which is gradually revealed alongside Carrie and Dylan's busy private life and their place within the local community, all of which I enjoyed enormously. If there is one criticism, it's that there is a little too much wedding description, but in a final installment, there has to be a little artistic licence allowed!
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Crooked Lane, but the opinions expressed are my own. I love this series, which I would highly recommend, especially if you can read it in publication order. I will miss all the main protagonists immensely.
Even though it’s been cheesy, I have to say that I’m sad to see this series of books come to a close. The plots are fairly simple and very repetitive, and the writing is nothing extraordinary, but the characters are what kept me coming back. They were certainly a little ridiculous sometimes, but they were likable and memorable, and they became a comfort to return to. This final book gave a nice wrap up to their stories. I also have to say that I listened to this series on audio, and the reader was 5 stars. She did an excellent job brining these characters to life, and I can confidently say that she added to my enjoyment of this entire series.
Carrie has been assigned by her boss to write an article for the Gazette about discovering a diary that belonged to a woman named Verity Babcock. Verity was accused of being a witch and was hanged in 1652 in Clover Ridge, Connecticut. Carrie's boss, Sally, wants her to publicize Verity's story. According to Verity, she was not a witch and was targeted because she was a widow who grew herbs🪴.
While helping the reference librarian, Norman Tobin, put the new Historical Room in order at the library, Carrie stumbled upon Verity's diary.
Based on the diary entries, it appears that Verity, a local healer, gave a herbal potion to one of her patients, who was also her neighbor. Unfortunately, the patient fell ill after ingesting the potion and his widow accused Verity of poisoning her husband. More people joined in with similar accusations and the matter was eventually brought before the local magistrate. A month later, Verity was jailed and six months later she was dead.
Carrie is getting married to her fiancé Dylan, who works as a private investigator, in two weeks. They have planned to go to Greece for their honeymoon. Their friend, Victor Zalinka, had offered his home as a wedding venue.
While the couple was planning the seating arrangements for the ceremony, they discover a body on the back lawn. They immediately contacted the police.
It appears the victim was digging in Victor’s backyard. What was he looking for? Was that why he was murdered?
Thank you to Allison Brook, NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the arc of this book.
Carrie Singleton moved to Clover Ridge and got a job in the library. She would take her loving kitty, Smoky Joe, with her to work. She also loved solving a mystery and would help the police department solve crimes. In this case, it was murder, robbery and the stealing of an historical diary from the 1600's. When she moved there she found a nice little cottage, where she lived with her fiancée, Dylan Avery.
The diary was written by Verity Babcock who was hung for being a witch, and that was not the case. Many people were hung in the 1600 for being a witch and they were not. I love reading history and this was both history and mystery all in one. The crime of robbery and murder involved men who stole money. Upon getting out of prison they wanted to find the hidden money, but as a result murder had taken place. Right before Carrie and Dylan were to be married they were helping a young man involved in the robbery. His brother asked them for help. It was so scary, as they decided to get totally involved the morning of their wedding. Carrie was saved and her and Dylan's wedding took place that evening. What a special wedding.
As for the diary, it was stolen from the library. It was donated by an unknown person. Two people in the town claimed the diary belonged to them, as on said was related to the writer of the diary. The other related to someone who was killed by this witches healing herbs. I love history of this era and then there was a mystery to the story. I had a very hard time putting the book down each night.
Thank you Allison Brook for a wonderful read, and I look forward the reading the rest of the series "A haunted library mystery". To NetGalley and Crook Lane Books thank you for allowing me the opportunity for reading this before publishing.
I listened to this one on audiobook instead of ebook 🤪 I really enjoyed the narrator she kept me engaged the whole story! I liked all of the characters! This book was a lot more dark than your usual cozy mystery 😬 There was a lottttt of murder and not coziness 🤪 I loved it! So many twists and turns! This was more of a thriller than a cozy mystery! It started with such an innocent library and then went so dark! I loved it! I can’t wait to read all of the rest in the series!
This is the 8th and last book from the Haunted Library Mystery Series. Carrie Singleton is excited to be getting married to Dylan. But tragically, a young man who recently got out of jail is found dead on the lawn of their wedding venue. The young man, Billy Carpenter may have come back in search of the stolen money. The Police suspect Billy’s two accomplices, Luke & Tino. But then Luke is later murdered and Tino has disappeared. I love this series, the main characters and Evelyn, the library ghost. Easy read and highly entertaining. Sad to see the end of the series.
A found diary, a secret women’s group, and few murders keep Carrie Singleton busy on the eve of her wedding, threatening to ruin the big day.
I can’t believe it’s finally Dylan and Carrie’s wedding! But they have a few obstacles they have to overcome before they can say “I do.” When Carrie finds an old diary in the library historical archives, she never expects the trouble it will cause. Theft, murder, and more threaten to derail the Clover Ridge wedding of the year!
Although this is book #8 in a series, it can be read just as easy as a standalone story. Initially, a bit slow moving. Humorous, after all, who volunteers to be solving a series of crimes on their wedding day?!!
Going out on a low. Not a fan of in a cozy mystery. Talk about depressing. But I'm kind of glad this is the final book as too many cozy mysteries go on for far too long.
