Owen Devin had hoped that being invited to visit the Norlon spaceship with his governor father was how they would begin to repair their relationship. Never did he suspect that his father would become a terrorist by setting off a bomb, disabling the ship, and actually murdering people. And had he hoped to take out Owen too?
When Owen wakes after the explosion in the arms of the tall and strong fox-like captain of the ship, all he wants to do is cling to someone who doesn’t hate him. The more time he spends with Pysina Langarus, the more Owen wants to stay and…thank him. That Py can’t resist laying claim to Owen with claws and teeth and knotting eases something deep in Owen’s soul.
As Owen figures out what he wants to do with his life and the ship recovers from the bomb, his relationship with Py grows more intense every time they’re together. And while Py is willing to declare that Owen is his to everyone who’ll listen, can Owen do the same or will shame and fear keep him silent?
Claimed by the Fox Captain features an anthropomorphic fox as an alien, hurt/comfort themes, knotting and biting, found family, finding one’s purpose, overcoming bad actors who can't accept help from aliens, and a HEA. This is the second in a planned 6-book series featuring different couples that should be read in order.
I was a bit bored to be honest. A sweet but rather uneventful romance would describe this book perfectly in my opinion.
The beginning of their relationship was nice though. I loved how they met and how subtle their love story began if that makes sense. For them being mates it wasn’t one of those over the top insta love stories. It was very insta but at least more on the subtle side of things.
I genuinely didn’t mind the boring parts of the book but, well, I was still bored. I’d have loved more emotional scenes because of Owen’s history with his father.
That said I’ll definitely continue this series. I really rather enjoy the setting and the characters.
This was a super fun, sexy, quick read. I would suggest reading book 1 before this one just to get some background on the world and what all is happening as the story stars after events in book 1 and doesn’t really have any explanations.
Owen has a lot to work through to realize his worth and value. Py is such a great help for that and I loved how he always cared about what Owen needed and wanted. I loved seeing their mating solidify and their relationship bloom!
This is a very spicy story so expect a lot of sex (including in public) but all the scenes were really well done and I didn’t feel like it was too much. I definitely recommend this series and author and look forward to the next book!
This definitely had more instalust than the first but was still very hot.
There’s not much time for the relationship between Owen and Py to develop beyond the surface level but it's a short book and it was an easy way to pass my Sunday afternoon.
I’m still not a fan of the writing style (it doesn’t change much from book 1) but I shut off my brain and let myself enjoy the ride.
Notable tropes include: age gap, D/s dynamics and covert sex.
Totally enjoying these Furry Alien Mates books! Owen and Py were just too sweet together. I loved how protective Py became of him human. And Owen, finally finding someone who cherished him was just lovely to see. After growing up with a father like his, who treated him terribly because he wasn't some outdated definition of a "man's man," I was so happy he ended up with someone like Py.
This is not to say that Owen is some fragile flower either. He definitely has some feistiness in him, which he more than proved at a certain pairs nuptials. Ho boy these aliens do know how to throw a party!
There's a sneak peek of the next book at the end, but no mention of the human MC. The blurb isn't out for that book either, but I'm definitely excited to find out who's next!
Cute, and fluffy, with an anthropomorphic fox and human pairing. I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first book, probably because less Earth politics in the world-building.
If you like Delaney Rain's books, you'll likely enjoy this series too. 123 pages. Lots of petting and furry stuff. Interesting Lago dick (anthro foxes.)
Highlights:
• Why was my first instinct to turn away and deny him access? That didn’t make any sense. A medic wanted to help an injured person. I shouldn’t prevent that.
• Gasping, I looked to my right and found a giant fox staring at me. I knew what his type was really called, but nope, I couldn’t remember it right now.
• Someone who looked like a huge snow leopard was behind the fox and… Shit, were they performing surgery? While the fox was awake?
• My giant fox walked in, the bright light of the hallway illuminating him until the door shut behind him.
• Whatever happened next, I didn’t really care because I’d just lost my virginity and was going to savor the moment with my incredible fox.
• Owen snuggled back against me with a wicked chuckle. “I’m going to mobilize the Rebel forces and shame the Imperialists by exploiting Vader’s death.” (Star Wars geek alert 🚨)
• Was it possible to be in a honeymoon phase while in a brand-new relationship? (Err, I thought the beginning of a brand-new relationship was called the 'honeymoon phase'?)
Ok, I am loving this series so far. This picks up moments after the explosion the ended the last book. And I’m so glad this one did not end as a cliff hanger. I couldn’t handle something bad happening to either Py or Owen. And I cheered with the Star Wars reference!
As soon as I realized it was publication day, I went to read this, since it’s short and I usually like the author's books. Also, after the events of the first book I was eager to know how things would be between the captain and Owen.
The book picks up the story after the bomb detonates on the spaceship. Py, the ship's captain, wakes up disoriented and in the midst of terrible chaos, and despite the pain and shock, he soon takes charge and begins to provide assistance. However, he wakes up with an unconscious human on top of him and, after checking that he is still alive, Py continues with his tasks without letting go of the boy's inert body.
I really liked this whole first part. I will not deny that an element that I love in these books is that pull the characters feel towards their mate and how they react to that attraction. In the case of Py and Owen, who meet amid the chaos, it is especially interesting to see how the captain reacts to his inability to separate himself from the boy without understanding why.
Their relationship is marked by the tragedy of the attack, even more so considering that the terrorist is none other than Owen's father, which makes our MC feel guilty and responsible for his father's actions and the pain he has caused.
Things between Py and Owen happen quickly and without hesitation. They are both attracted to each other and soon let themselves be carried away by it. Py is clear about where that attraction that binds them comes from, and Owen, on his part, is unable to resist how good and safe he feels in the captain's arms.
Otherwise, the story is quite flat, I'm not going to lie. Not much happens in the plot between aliens and humans, we see some progress in the topic of professional recruitment and also Owen taking part in the political negotiations between humans and aliens, but generally speaking... not much happens.
What is explored more is the relationship between Owen and Py, how much Owen needs attention and affection, and how willing Py is to make his human happy and comfortable.
It is an entertaining, quick and easy to follow read, but I would not say that it contributes much more and therefore for me it is not among the author's best titles. Of course, I will not deny that I am eager to know what will happen in the next book. We don't have any details yet about who the human protagonist will be or how he will meet his partner, but hey, even though this second one has been a bit disappointing, I'm clear that as soon as the third one is available I'll be there to read it.
I really like this universe and am wondering where my own kitty cat warrior alien is at? Owen is a sweetheart and Py is in tune with Owen's every twitch and change of scent. It is also nice how Py made time to comfort Owen while on shift. If you are not currently in a life and death situation or something needing immediate attention it is my believe that a few minutes will not hurt anyone but will mean the world to your love one.
In current times I recognize some language being used now. Some I found personally was not logical to the point at hand but seemed to be planted in as it is a topic heavily discussed in our real world now. In this case it would be the reference that the right wing party might use the documentary on sex work on this alien planet and fictional to cry wrongly that the aliens might try grooming their children or some such. Which is complete nonsense. I understand what point the author wanted to make, but be serious. Even in the book the documentary was age restricted and specifically targeting adults and sex workers in particular or only fan creators etc.. The real world equivalent of children being medicated and told sexual positions in elementary school does not compare in the least here and is a relevant discussion indeed. I think tensions are high and everyone nowadays should take a deep breath and take a step back. It serves noone if everyone only sees in black and white and loses all the shades inbetween.
Another thing I more frequently come accross in books lately is the use of words for sound men supposedly make that make no sense to me whatsoever. But maybe that is just a cultural difference. I have recently learned that a frowning expression is something different in different countries (some say only downturned mouths others say scrunched up eyebrows like someone is thinking hard). So when I read " Owen made another whimpering noise and leaned into me. He loved love,..." I am questioning why this would make him anxious or whimper as if he just stepped on a nail or cut himself on a sheet of paper. I would have rather thought he would make a hmm-ing noise or sigh. But that's just nitpicking.
All in all I enjoy this fantasy even if I picture them looking a bit more humanoid and less like Chewbacca or Ewok from Star Wars.
I am loving this series so far - I love a good alien romance and Norlans are the perfect combination of sweet, kind, gentle, interesting, good, possessive and so much more. I had really been looking forward to Py and Owen since reading the teaser at the end of Alam and Logan’s books and this did not disappoint. My heart initially broke for Owen. I cannot imagine the despair he must have felt and the overwhelming guilt and self-hatred which whilst entirely misplaced was extremely understandable and would have felt crushing. I was so glad he was able to take comfort in Py’s arms; he needed someone who would stand in his corner unerringly, someone who would support him but also let him fight his own battles. Py was a total cutie. I love that he’s an incredibly competent and skilled captain but he just melted into a ball of sweet, loving, horniness for Owen! It’s one of my favourite things to read - there is nothing quite like tough, strong and capable melting for their special someone. The overarching plot for the series is also adding an intriguing layer to the stories. In some ways it’s terrifying how something so clearly fictional could (with the removal of actual Norlans) be taken as genuinely happening in real life. What I like though is that as much as we see the awful side of humanity, we get to see the good and bright side. Light might be having to fight but it feels like it’s winning, even if it’s a slow fight. In a world that feels darker by the day I really love that I can read a story that highlights that the cruel and callous in the world won’t get to win and that we can fight back. Also (and I say this as an aside mainly because I love the stories we get from Delaney because they just make me feel so happy), Py and Owen were scorching together. I think I might just need to find myself a sexy Lago to cuddle up to! I’m super excited for what’s next as I’m really looking forward Ghosha’s story (he’s hilarious and sweet and I’ve had my eye on him since book one haha)!
This second story sort of skirts around the weird mission of the aliens to get..... prostitutes? Escorts? Brothel workers? Anyway, the focus was on an attack by Humans First, the connection the characters had to it, and how the community moves on from it.
Owen is the son of the man who both orchestrated this terror attack and died in the attack. At the moment of the attack Owen realized what was happening and ran to Captain Py for protection, though it appeared to others that he was running to protect the captain. As such public favour is on his side but Owen has a lot of guilt about his connection.
Captain Py feels a lot of responsibility after the attack but he trusts in his crew and in the Prince. He both gives support to his community and takes support in the difficult time. Giving this same support to Owen feels natural and he soon feels even more protective and possessive of the other man. The two quickly start a relationship, which honestly eclipses almost everything else.
The sexy times in this were enjoyable, despite the slightly insta-love theme of this series. Watching Owen work through his guilt for his father's actions as well as dealing with his feelings of being free of his restrictive family were a good section of the book. But as to moving the overall series story forward, it remains unclear.
Trigger warnings for suicide by bombing, deaths, previous homophobia discussions, etc. It was good, but we only saw Py’s parents once and barely saw these two interact with anyone besides each other. I did like their connection and it was a bit different from the first book with Owen being inexperienced and us not needing to relearn all about the Norlons. I thought with less learning needing to take place, we’d see more of a plot and secondary characters. But that didn’t really seem to be the case.
We saw Py and Owen mating quite often, but they never made it very official. The main place we saw them was in Py’s quarters; Py saw Owen’s dad briefly before the start of this story and Owen never met Py’s family. I would have liked to see them welcome their son’s first mate since they were so excited.
There were a handful of typos/extra words in the book that messed with my flow of reading a bit. I would have liked Owen to make a friend or two on the ship. He kind of befriended the PBS news crew, but then they went back down to Earth’s surface. Overall it was a quick, entertaining read. However I don’t think I’d give it more than 2.5-3 out of 5 stars.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one was... oddly disappointing? It felt like it was about 50% sex scenes, and story itself was a little bit meh. Not that I didn't enjoy reading about Owen standing up to right wingers, but as for the romance, neither one of them had to work for it at all, nor was there any mystery to it, any character growth, or any obstacles to their love/attachment/mating. So... yeah. It was just kind of boring, I guess, in terms of the actual romance plot (which is what I'm here for). And as for the external plot, anytime something actually HAPPENED, the plot advancement was interrupted so they could fuck again. 🤷♀️ I might still pick up the next in series, but this author has definitely gone from a one-click for me in her early days to more of an "eh, maybe... if I don't have something else more exciting on my Kindle."
There is passion splattered across these very pages the moment you meet Owen and Py. Damn, the spicy sex scenes really get you hot and bothered especially when my guy has retractable claws and a knot that still allows movement.
Owen is adorable and Py, I just couldn't get enough of him.
The world and lore is building and the plot with it since this story was only 129 pages plus 1 bonus chapter, so, all in all another lovely dive into the sex trade of norlons and humans.
I would like to see more orgies considering Norlons want human sex workers but I understand once you find your life mate, that's it for you buddy.
This might be my favorite series from this author. The books are short (90 minutes) but sweet with a lot of hot and furry stuff included. The following was my favorite quote from the book:
Well, actually no, they’d never see the documentary. They’d just pretend they had and scream about it like they did with everything else they didn’t agree with. No active learning for them!
Lots of steamy sexy times but little story development. Would have been great for the author to take time to develop the main characters. There’s some good starts but nothing gets into detail and all the story development is quickly brushed aside for the sex. They are, admittedly, great sex scenes though. Hoping the 3rd book has a better balance of steamy goodness and story development.
Well… Owen sure grew up fast. From mostly virgin to public sex in the span of just a few weeks is quite a journey of self discovery. I liked how there was no second guessing or doubt between he and Py; they just went with how they felt and let everything develop naturally. It was a little odd how quickly everyone accepted his innocence and ignorance of the explosion. I guess when you can smell changes in body chemistry it cuts through all the subterfuge and lets everyone get on with things.
Py and Owen meet when Owen comes to the shop Py is captain of. Unfortunately Owens father decides to blow himself and several other people up as they are exiting the shuttle onto the ship. What starts as guarding Owen becomes much more very quickly. While this was a great story, the ending seemed kind of abrupt (hence 4 stars). Despite that, there was some character growth and pacing kept my interest. Spice level: 4
This one was equally as good as the first one. For what it is, it has a good plot line and conflict resolution. Is it insta-lovey? Yeah, but it kind of works here. Short but sweet, poor Owen didn't have a chance against the affection of his fox captain. I'm interested to see who the tiger ends up with. This series has captivated me for sure, at least as a curiosity.
I may adjust to four stars later, but this one didn't grip me the same way as the first book in the series. This time we meet Owen, estranged son of the crazy bomber from last time, and Py who is the captain of the alien ship.
I could have used more relationship development and less fucking, but it's still cute and I'll still read the next one.
A Fox, A Human, and the tale of true love on a starship.....
First let me say definitely not for kids, but wonderfully told tale of true love found in strange places and with blindness to ones race or should I say species... Love has no bounds, and true love will bring such adventures . I highly recommend this to furry lovers and their mates.
OMG The first book was great, but this is incredible!! I love Py and Owen!! Their dynamic is awesome right from the beginning, I was hooked and addicted just after the first pages and couldn't put the reader down till I read the last words.. I am addicted to these Norlons. Now up to the Khess and the mate, who'll ruffle his für the right way.
Like the first book, I liked reading about Owen and Py but didn't like everything else. But it's such a huge part of the story so I can't skim through it. Also, I like how creative the author is with the universe she created - I like learning all about the different races of Norlons.
Very good. It was a quick read with lovely characters with great chemistry. It's true that no much happened besides the ruckus of the beggining (and obviously the MC's relationship), but I didn't mind given the shortness of the book.
I like this series, it’s cute and fluffy but with a lot spice. It’s got a plot but I don’t feel I have to get invested in it, I can just loose myself in furry creatures and their mates for a few hours.
Such a delightful little snack! Definitely helps to read the first one before this to have context for what’s happening when this picks up, but I love Owen and Py together just on their own, and of course the steamy scenes don’t disappoint!
I enjoy the author's writing style and am enjoying this series. I became invested in the MCs and was a bit disappointed when I got to the last page because I wasn't ready for it to end.
