I'm a long-time Midwesterner. I've lived in Chicago, Bloomington (IN), and Saint Louis, my current home. Aside from reading and writing (which take up a lot of my time), I'm an educator.
While I enjoy reading across many genres, my two main loves are mystery and speculative fiction. I used to keep a list of favorite books, but it changes so frequently that I've given up. I'm always looking for recommendations, though, so please drop me a line if you have something in mind!
My big goal right now is one day to be responsible enough to get a dog.
You might’ve already enjoyed these flash pieces during #SizzlingWithAshe2023 over on his Facebook group (edit: it would probably help if I gave you the name, huh? 😂 Search for “The Gregorian Order”!), but being the gracious man that he is, GA has made it widely available in this adorable bundle! Get your copy today for some bite-sized feels 🌵
Warning: this collection is sorta in the vein of the Iron on Iron series, where there are spoilers for characters in later arcs if you’re not fully caught up, but nothing drastic :)
Here are some reading order suggestions (best read after Final Orders and at least The Face in the Water, book #1 of Iron on Iron, unless stated otherwise):
I hadn’t really read much the last few years. So I’m extremely behind on Gregory Ashe books. Like MEGA behind. To the point where it’s overwhelming because even when I was reading lots, I still had a hard time keeping up with him. The man is a maniac.
Although I’m very behind, I still lurk in his facebook group though and saw this one mentioned. Because I’m so far behind, there were some spoilers. However, spoilers that didn’t surprise me if that makes sense. It’s not like I didn’t know the couples or how things turned out. So I didn’t mind.
A few I had read somehow already. Maybe in emails or another way. It was lots of fun being with all the guys again. I’ve always loved the short stories so much and these were no different. It’s nice to be with the gang when they aren’t in crisis mode.
I’m not sure I’m ready for a full length novel yet but it’s always a treat to spend time with Ree and company.
Nothing can make a stale November Monday better than seeing this pop up available for purchase.
I was about to read these during GA's "SizzlingWithAshe2023" Facebook readers group over the summer (which if you're a Facebook users and aren't a member, you should be, because we sometimes get graced with wonderful things, particularly over the summer) and they were so much fun. Thankfully GA has put them all together in this wonderful collection to share with everyone!
While these stories sort of occur around about the on-goings of Iron on Iron, there shouldn't be too much in the way of spoilers here.
i've read these over the summer on facebook but it's nice to have them in one place. particularly obsessed about the one with Hazard and Shaw (their best moments are always the heartfelt, genuine interactions more than the humor, sue me) and Jem and Somers (lowkey flirty, or I like to read it so which is *chefkiss*)
These flash pieces are everything. I was crying with laughter and then crying at how lovely these silly men are and how deeply they've crawled into my heart.
Absolutely delightful! I forgot how much I missed the Hazardverse. I enjoyed each and every one of these shorts. Meet (not cute) was 100% my favourite… I just loooooove Shaw my lil baby he’s so cute and funny (North too obvi!!!).
Also GA if you ever decide to write a story for Fer I will love you forever. That lil moment with Auggie was so cute. I love Fer :’)
This was so much fun. I laughed like crazy and I’m gonna need a Nico/Jadon book asap and also a Fer book because he may be a bit of an ass but I love him!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The stories were really funny, and I think it's good when the author separates this goofy stuff from the main storyline. That being said, I feel like these stories gave characters more depth and I feel like I got to know them way better. But yeah, these stories were pure fan service - and I totally ate it up hahah
Light diversions featuring the whos-who from the H&S universe doing routine chores and activities and at play. I screamed at Fer's news and melted at the cactus-moment. 4.5 stars.
- But It's Still A Race: LOL North wanting the $100 in frozen yogurt, and also aw to Shaw helping Evie. That was super cute - The Least We Could Do: not the clam bits 😂 Tean is such a sweetheart - Meet (Not Cute): Nico! Jadon! North, being an addhole, Shaw, flailing a dildo - I Wanted To Tell You Something: Gah, cut off right when we get to the good part!! - Opuntia Microdasys: Okay I loved everything about this, my heart when Emery told Shaw his mom calls him bunny = melted. Also I love that Shaw has plants for all his friends, it's adorable - Summer Nights: boys are so weird - The Things We Do: classic Jem - Evie's Dad: my heart!! Loved that ending - Big Strong Guys: my first Colt POV?? Amazing. What's with North and Ash?
Look, you definitely need to know these characters to fully appreciate the (short)chapter long flash fiction but if you do it will pack a satisfying emotional and humorous punch. So the characters in these series deserve to be done with solving mysteries and getting concussions so I'd happily read this kind of story for them forever.
it's roughly around 1am and i've just finished up reading this collection of flash fiction stories for the first time (unfortunately I'm not on Facebook, didn't even know they were being posted there!) ... was staying up so late worth it? 100% yes!! I can definitely see myself rereading these once again in the future, and it's always nice to have more Hazardverse content to tide me over until December 4th for The Spoil of Beasts release day !
Fer is seeing someone! Nico and Jadon! Shaw and Hazard hanging out! Jem saving the day! Lots to love in here. North and Auggie are a great pairing, too.
But It’s Still a Race You go, Shaw! You made the right choice! *laughs*
The Least We Could Do And, once again, we're reminded why we should keep Tean away from the kitchen, and be sure that is Jem who is in charge :P
Meet (Not Cute) Oh! So this is Nico's mystery boyfriend! Good for you, Nico!!!
I Wanted to Tell You Something Oh, Fer! *hugs Fer**after slaping him**hard*
Opuntia Microdasys Shaw is having a bad time with his parents, but Emery is there to help. As much as he can, at least. There are plants involved. And a very special cactus *smiles happily*
Summer Nights The risk of sneaking at night, trying to steal beer from your parents *dies laughing*
The Things We Do Jem to the rescue! I love you, Jem! Soooo much!
Evie’s Dad Nora, you're THE BEST!
Big Strong Guys Sometimes, Colt can be sensitive. And sensible. And make the right decision ♥
There wasn't one story that did not make me snicker or laugh out loud. It's hard to pick a favorite but I have a couple. Meet (not cute) - here we meet Jadon, Shaw's ex and Shaw meets Nico, Emery's ex. Shaw is not happy. I wanted to tell you something - Fer tells Augie he met someone and it's a him. How Theo doesn't hurt Fer is surprising as Auggie is crying in the bathroom. Fer's mouth! Opuntia Microdasys - Shaw is in the basement with his plants and melting down. Emery shows up and is introduced to the bunny ear cactus. a touching scene where Emery hugs Shaw and admits his mom called him Bunny. Summer Nights - all the men in the kitchen showing off their war wounds and Colt and Ashley walk in and omg his voice sounded like pure horror lol. and my most favorite is Big Strong Guys - the first kiss between Colt and Ashley in a cemetery and Ashe sweetly calls Colt his hero. Awwwww
This is a must read collection of short stories. It has all the characters, each one told by a different person, and each short story equally endearing, and funny. I can't decide which is my favorite, but the two that stick out most, are comparing scars in the kitchen, and Shaw having plants for each of his friends. Oh, and Shaw in his sleeping bag outfit in the graveyard.
Novella. A collection of short stories from this author's H & S universe. He writes *so much* it's hard for me to to keep track, but if you're getting this book you probably already know what you're getting into. These were fabulous, quick, and laugh out loud funny. A really fun way to spend time with well loved characters.
Another awesome collection of delightful short stories with the couples I love so much. I really hope that the orbiting (new and old) couples, will eventually become permanent fixtures. Simply a feel-good book, and just the escape I needed during these tension-filled times, thank you!
A must for fans of Hazard and Somerset & Co. Capture the moments when they are not caught up in dangerous activities. I was going to say dangerous and crazy but I would be lying. There is still the crazy but we also have the mundane every day and love.
I 1000% should not have read these in the order I did because of all of the spoilers but I’m still so glad I did. I’ve only read the first Hazard & Somerset series but each of the short stories in this showed a different moment or couple and it made me want to gobble everything Gregory Ashe has written as soon as humanly possible.
