If there is one thing Mars Allen knows, it’s that his best friend’s father, Samuel Sheridan, is totally off limits. Too bad the sexy fire chief would be the perfect Daddy. The release date on this book may change.
Hot Zone is the third and final book in the Station 69 series. While you could read this book as a standalone, I feel the series is best read in order as there is a continuing story arc. This is Samuel and Mars story and what a great story to end the series with. Looking at these two you wouldn't think they would be perfect but they are. I was so happy to see the arsonist was finally revealed. The whole book was a great read that I couldn't put down once I started it. I loved the characters and plot so much. I'm also happy to hear that we're not leaving Vesper yet. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

Samuel and Mars were such a sweet couple, and their story was a great way to wrap up the Station 69 series!
I've really enjoyed the suspense and the arsonist plot in this trilogy, and I was very eager to find out who the perpetrator had been all this time. I liked how the author build the anticipation and suspense, and seeing things from the fire chief's perspective gave some further insights into the investigation and fires.
Samuel and Mars were the kind of couples that I didn't think would work; Samuel was very down to earth and sticking to his routines, while Mars was spiritual and more of a free spirit. They were very different, but they also complemented each other. Mars had been having a crush on Samuel for quite a while, and with the forced proximity things sparked between them.
I found it adorable how Samuel instantly started to take care of Mars, making him breakfast every morning and ensuring that he had everything he'd need while staying at his house. The Daddy in him was not subtle at all, but it was also easy to see how Mars thrived with a Daddy in his life. They were good for each other and I really liked them as a couple.
Hot Zone was a great conclusion to the 69 Station trilogy, and I've very much enjoyed the suspense and anticipation throughout! It was overall a sweet story with a mild Daddy / boy dynamic, that managed to stay on the lighthearted side despite dealing with some more serious topics. Jacki James writes the small town and found family tropes so well, and I look forward to see what she'll write next!
The fun conclusion is that the station is 69 firefighters' mysterious arsonist. It's our fire chiefs turn to find his match, who just happens to be his sons best friend. Mars is a beautiful boy who lives on a spiritual path in believing there is something more out there. When his home has a fire, Samuel offers him and his cat Kismet a place to stay until he gets things settled. When these two share a place, they can't help but see how well they were made for each other and how they can make the others' lives more full filled. I appreciate that Steven is protective of his best friend and thankful his partner shows him that Samuel is good for Mars. Fox continues his investigation of the arsonist plaguing the fire house and, with the help of Three Bears Tactical Services, is able to put safety measures in place for our men. Was a great introduction to those men who are now looking forward to reading their stories as well! Great conclusion, as well as introduction to a new series, keeps us readers wanting for more from this universe, well played Jacki, well played.
Another sweet book. I’m kinda disappointed with this book. I was hoping for more it is the chief after all and the final book. While it was a good story I didn’t feel the connection. It was a little too never make mistake, too perfect. I was also hoping for more D/b but there wasn’t. They found who has been doing the arson but even that was a little bleh.
For future me: Dual POV No cheating/ sharing Relationship before smexy Diversity ehh
Hot Zone by Jacki James is the third book in her Station 69 series. I highly suggest that you read the others first as this is the culmination of the series and includes characters and a plot line from the other two. Samuel Sheridan is the fire chief at Station 69 in Vesper, Texas, a job he recently took over. He enjoys his job and is good at it, working with the other shift chiefs and firefighters. He has also taught at the fire academy there. He is currently working with Fox, a fire investigator, to figure out who has been setting fires in empty buildings around town and they haven’t had many clues except that they seem to be happening in his jurisdiction and have affected some of the firefighters. Mars has a store, The Chrysalis Moon, in Vesper and his best friend since childhood has been Samuel’s son, Steven, so he has known the family for a long time. He has also had a crush on Samuel since he was a teenager but knows nothing will happen because he’s straight and because of Steven. Mars’s store specializes in crystals, tarot readings, and other spiritual items and is in his aunt’s house that she left him. He was raised in a commune about an hour from Vesper but having people come and go in his life wasn’t for him. He loves what he does and how he helps people and his store is a success. He is getting ready for a Samhain celebration when his house catches on fire. Luckily it was not from the arsonist but still a problem until Samuel invites him to stay with him until he can get the insurance money and a new place to live. Samuel enjoys having him there and takes care of him, which is only natural since he is a Daddy. He hasn’t had a boy or girl in a while and realizes that he needs to make some changes since all he has been doing is working and staying at home, fixing it up. This leads to them spending some time together. Then another fire happens and when Samual comes home stressed, they kiss but even when Samuel tells Mars he’s bi, there can’t be anything between them because he’s too young and he is looking for a Boy, which Mars knows about but doesn’t now how to be. But he eventually realizes he likes Samuel’s bossiness and how he takes care of him without trying to change him. Time goes on and when Mars dresses as a pretty kitty for a Halloween party it leads to Samual knowing he was his and claiming him. Steven doesn’t take the news well but eventually comes around. Then after Samual teachers an arson detection class at the academy, it leads to another fire and figuring out it definitely has something to do with the firefighters. Luckily, they are able to decipher the clues the arsonist left and to identify him which leads to an epic scene where they attempt to take him down. Once everything is under control Samuel realizes he never told Mars he loved him so they have a great scene where they declare their love to each other and know they will be starting a wonderful life together. I really enjoyed this book, as I have the others in the series. Samuel and Mars are about as opposite as they can be yet they fit together perfectly. Samuel is every inch the in-charge fire chief and this carries over with his relationship with Mars. Mars is kind and really into meditation and the spirituality that permeates his shop and likes the way Samuel is with him because he didn’t have that in his life before. Samuel’s friends and firefighters, Steven and his girlfriend Roxy, Ziva, Mars’s helper at the shop, and his cat Kismet all play a part in advising them and helping them get together. And it was good to see them finally find the arsonist who had been in the picture since the beginning of the series. I also liked all the tarot card readings Mars did that came true with everything that was happening. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories about a silver fox Daddy who finds his much younger Boy and provides him love and protection when he most needs it, even when things are going crazy around them.
The main story is not terrible: Samuel falls in love with his son’s best friend who owns a new-age bookstore and now Mars calls Samuel Daddy. There’s a bit of coming out (Samuel’s son didn’t know he was bi, nor did the guys at the fire station, nor did Mars, his new beau); there’s a bit of forced proximity (Mars moves into Samuel’s place because of a fire at his apartment); there’s a bit of unpleasant possessiveness almost from the start (excerpt from the first time they have sex: ““Tell me who you belong to,” I ordered. “I’m yours. Yours… please.””). There’s a bit where the author forgot that she was writing chapter 1 in first person.
Oh, and the author doesn’t understand that in English we don’t use italic type to describe national brands like Facebook or, uh, Dr. Pepper. She even italicizes Walmart in People of Walmart. This is a common problem, but still annoying.
Oh, and the new-age bookstore also does a rousing business in crafts no one buys: “They heard metaphysical and thought it was going to be nothing but crystals and tarot cards and incense. And don’t get me wrong, I had plenty of those, but that wasn’t all my shop was. I also had Roxy’s crocheted animals, Tara Carrington’s macrame, and Jose Garza’s woodwork”
No, none of that is what seriously bothers me. What bothers me is Fire Station 69 itself, which Samuel (who is its chief) describes as akin to the commune Mars grew up in:
“Yeah, I understand the value of what my mom’s created out there. That’s why, even though I don’t want to live there, I’ve tried to create my own intentional community right here in Vesper.” “I get that. That’s what we’ve created at Station sixty-nine, or at least that’s what we aim for anyway.”
So, it’s great that you want to be a diverse and welcoming fire station. But at the end of the day, you’re civil servants. You implement the policies of elected officials, who mostly care that buildings don’t burn down (which they do in Vesper alarmingly often), and that the city is comparably well protected from fire all across it. There’s this weirdness that somehow #69 (I mean, really?) (anyhow…) is the place where all of the minority folk come in town: we meet Tariq, who’s Black and Muslim and Samuel wants to ensure him he’d fit right in:
“Station 69 would be a safe place for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, or race. If you worked at the 69, you knew that we didn’t play around where that was concerned. If you were one of us, we’d have your back.”
Again, this is great! But you’re the chief of the station, not the fire chief for the city. What the hell is going on in the rest of the city that makes this necessary? When you get called in to other fires, do people make homophobic jokes about your firefighters and their hoses? Why aren’t you working with the politicians? What the hell?
Like, it’s not an “intentional community”. People get assigned to it, they don’t come home to it. This overall is super weird. I’d feel much better if these characters were shifters or something like that.
Oh, and the arsonist bit is not great, and highlights the Keystone Kops-ness of these firefighters. But that’s ok, I guess. At least they have incredible sex. Yeah.
This book was a fitting end to the Station 69 series, Samuel got his forever guy and the bad guy was finally apprehended with no loss of life. The Station 69 crew are a lively and likable bunch, and there is great firefighter action and information throughout. The connection and dynamic between firefighter crews really came through in the series, and it makes sense since that relationship is so important to the functioning and safety for all in the “workplace”. Mars is a fascinating, complex character, there is so much about him that is unique to most romantic MCs, and I enjoyed his personality and all the information on Tarot cards and the things in Mars’s shop. Samuel’s Daddy personality came through, even in his interactions with the firefighters at his station through the organization, expectations, caring and leadership at all times without being too controlling. The Daddy/boy dynamic with Samuel and Mars was pretty laid back, I thought, less controlling than I expected after Stephen’s comments about his dad, but the heat was right up there, protective, caring and hot. These two definitely fit well together. There was the right amount of light-heartedness, normality and tension to keep the me involved in a story I found hard to put down. A really great read for the whole series and a great cast of memorable characters. I would recommend the whole series, especially if you are into reading about firefighters, I thought it shared a lot of interesting information in an easy to learn way. Definitely a 5 star rating from me.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.
I liked Samuel and Mars okay. I’m all about big age differences – Mars is 27, and Samuel is old enough to be his father – so I had high hopes for these two. They were fine, really, but they didn’t wow me as a couple. There’s a bit of Daddy/boy talk happening, but not enough to really even go into detail about it. I enjoyed catching up with others from the series. I liked being introduced to the guys from an upcoming series that’s linked to this one, a series I know I’ll be reading when it’s published. I loved Kismet, Mars’ cat.
I think my main issue is that I didn’t really feel Samuel and Mars as a couple. It’s a lot like how I felt about Keith and Caleb in the first book. I really did try, but I felt a whole lot of nothing, honestly. I really hate that because, as I said, I love books with characters who have substantial age differences.
Overall, the book was okay. I was able to catch up with the others, and I was able to finally learn who the arsonist was and whys of it all.
I’m a big fan of this author, so I’m always eager to read more of her books. I love knowing that some of the characters didn’t end with the Station 69 books. Bring on Mika and Hawk’s story. 🙂
So happy for Samuel to finally get his HEA in the final book of the series. His perfect boy comes in the shape of Mars, his son's best friend who finds himself in need after a house fire leaves him homeless. Samuel is more than happy to offer a room, though with no plans to seduce his son's best friend, there is no denying just how attracted he is to the younger man but he doesn't want to hold him back. Mars isn't like anyone else we've met so far. He runs the local store that is all about natural healing, health and happiness. He also reads tarot cards and knows his cat knew something was wrong that morning as his energy was off. I love these two together! So different and yet work perfectly for each other. Mars needs that caring touch, looking out for him and his needs but not stopping him from being individual and independent. Samuel needs that Daddy role but not necessarily to be a Daddy. It's just in his nature to be that protective caregiver. They fall into those roles easily and though Samuel tries to deny it, he can't stop the force that is Mars and he's always wanted Samuel. I also love the relationship that they both have with Samuel's son/Mars's best friend. The drama that has been plaguing the fire station also reaches its conclusion. It did wrap up a little quickly for me, I thought there would be a little bit more to it but it is a satisfying ending for everyone and that means they all get to live out their HEA. We also meet some of those who will be coming in Jacki's next series, which I am excited for! Highly recommended series and read! I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
This is the final book in the Station 69 series and I am finally going to get my answers to who was behind the fires, the mystery running through this series. I have said this before, Jacki James has been into my brain and pulled out all my favourite tropes when it came to this series and Son's Best Friend is another weakness when it comes to finding a book to read. Here we have Samuel, fire chief of Station 69 who comes to the aid of Mars, his son's best friend. The relationship between Samuel and Mars was not rushed. I loved their relationship, they were Yin and Yang and they bought the best out of each other. Samuel gave Mars the structure and Mars brought out the fun to their relationship. But we did not just get a romance story, with the arsonist still out to injury or worse, you could sense the urgency to capture them. Following Fox and Samuel as they put all the clues together, you felt as you were there, watching them as they get their arsonist and I felt the book step up a pace. As the story intensified there was no way I was putting it down until I got to the end. Whilst I am sorry that this series has finished, I did squeal like a little girl on Christmas day when I saw what was coming next and am looking forward to what is to come.
Samuel and Mars are such a sweet match. Mars is convinced his best friend's dad is straight and off limits. Samuel believes he's too old for his son's best friend. They are so opposite, one the owner of a health store of sorts with free spirit vibes and one is a disciplined Daddy with a bossy streak. When tragedy strikes Mars, Samuel is quick to offer his help but he is worried about how he is beginning to feel around his new roommate. When a night of aiming to relax turns into a moment of passion both men are affected and struggle to find the proper footing. But when Mars ventures out on his own look like the sweet but slightly bratty kitten he is, Samuel has no choice but to stake his claim and bring his boy home. While this relationship unfolds we get closer and closer to unraveling the mystery that is seeming to haunt Station 69. We see some familiar faces and meet some new ones who we will get to meet in 2025. Jacki writes about the best daddies with the perfect boys for them and they are the quickest 1-clicks on Kindle. I cannot wait to see what 2025 has in store as readers.
This is the conclusion of a trilogy that has completely captivated me from start to finish. It’s been an absolute joy to get to know the vibrant and dynamic characters of Station 19, each with their own unique personalities and stories. Watching as three of them slowly but surely fell in love has been both delightful and deeply moving. The way their relationships unfolded felt so natural and heartfelt, filled with tender moments that truly touched my heart.
But this story isn’t just about romance—it’s also packed with action and suspense. There’s a common thread running through the narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat: someone is deliberately starting fires, putting the characters in constant danger and testing their courage and resilience. This blend of heartwarming love stories and high-stakes drama creates a perfect balance, making the trilogy an unforgettable experience. It’s the kind of series that leaves you thinking about it long after you’ve finished, and I couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying conclusion.
I'm sad to see this series end but loved reading it!
I've really enjoyed this series. It's fun and lighthearted despite the fact that it has a background plot of an arsonist targeting firefighters and some minimal external relationship angst for each couple (and I do mean minimal - these guys know who they love and know family sticks together). This had some echos from the first book (which the symmetry lover in me liked lol) in that it's son's best friend in this book and book one was father's best friend. Normally, I'm a bit hesitant about that kind of trop because I hate when family thinks they have a right to dictate who you can/should or can't/shouldn't love. But, I know I love Jacki's writing so I knew I'd be in good hands with either trope and I was right. These characters love each other (whether romantically or platonically) and that's what matters most to them. We also got a resolution to the arson plot which was cool and got introduced to some new guys for a spin-off series (woohoo!). I'm super excited to see what's next but also sad this is the end of Station 69.
This is the third and final book in the Station 69 Trilogy. It should really be read in order as there is an overlaying arc of arson throughout all three books. This book focuses on Fire Chief Samuel Sheridan and Mars Allen. Samuel is the Fire Chief and a daddy. He is bisexual but it isn't widely known. Mars is the best friend of Chief Samuel's son. They both grew up together. Today, Mars is the proud owner of a new age shop. He has also had a crush of Samuel for most of his life. He has never done anything about it because he believes that Samuel is straight. The two end up living together when Mars home is destroyed by fire. It is harder to keep up a pretense when you are together every morning and night. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. We finally find out who the arsonist is. As well, we are introduced to members of the Three Bears Tactical Services. The next series to be enjoyed.
I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
If there is one thing Fire Chief Samuel Sheridan knows, it’s that his son’s best friend is totally off limits. Too bad he clearly needs a Daddy. When they get a call to fight a blaze engulfing Mars Allen’s home, he needs a place to stay and Samuel has a guest room. It only makes sense to offer him and his cat Kismet a temporary home while they figure out their next move. Mars should be all wrong for him. But the way he responds to his bossy nature and steady guidance tells him that he’s everything I need. Samuel is ready to take the risk to have everything he wants with Mars. But will the arsonist get his revenge first?
I loved this last story in the series where Samuel and Mars gave in to their feelings and started a relationship together. Mixed with that was the arsonist who was starting to make mistakes. A lot of emotions and feelings in this story from the two story arcs. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic..
When I read the description for this book it interested me, so I applied for an arc of the book I somehow failed to notice it was the final part of a series and while you can read it without reading the previous books I highly recommend reading them in order. I liked being submersed into the world surrounding firehouse 69. I enjoyed the series and the writing made it enjoyable. I couldn’t put it down. I spent the past three days reading through the entire series.
The final book with Samuel and Mars was a great way to tie everything up. I liked that there was a little mystery with who the arsonist was and the happy cute moments between Samuel and Mars. I liked Mars was different from the other boys and wasn’t totally familiar with what a Daddy was or that he even wanted one.
I highly recommend reading this series, so well written and enjoyable. The conversations between characters flow so naturally. I enjoyed the series and was hoping for a Mika book.
The blurb tells you all you need to know, with Mars moving in with Samuel after a fire destroyed his home. They start a relationship quickly, Daddy/boy lite with Mars only calling Samuel Daddy a few times and it didn't sound convincing when he did. I liked how Samuel took care of Mars from the beginning, even before they became anything, making sure he ate properly and dressed up warmly. The drama with the arsonist continues and the culprit is finally apprehended, so hopefully the men and women of Station 69 don't have to watch their backs at all times now. I was looking forward to this one but it fell a bit flat for me. Samuel and Mars' story finishes the trilogy but there's going to be more books set in Vesper, with the men of Three Bears Tactical we met in this series taking centre stage. Hawk is first and he's paired with sweet Mika, and I'm really looking forward to their story.
In this final piece of the puzzle - who is the arsonist targeting Station 69? - it’s the new Chief’s turn for an HEA. Enter his son Steven’s bestie Mars. Mars is a great character - ethereal, yet strong, mystical yet a successful business owner. His nature seems in opposition to Samuel’s grounded, bossy, daddy tendencies. But they are perfect together. Mars has had a crush on Samuel for years. The interactions between Mars and Samuel and Mars and Steven are well done. You root for everyone and you are left supremely satisfied with the outcome and wrap up of the continuing story. The side characters and the familiar faces from the past books add to the enjoyment of reading Hot Zone. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the “spin off” that will focus on the men of Three Bears Tactical, the security company that has worked alongside the firefighters in seeking out the arsonist.
Chief Samuel is a truly outstanding guy. It’s no wonder He became Fire Chief. He’s a great leader and really caring person. One who needs someone to love all of him, including his Daddy side.
He finds it with his son's best friend. Sweet Mars is love and peace in all that he does. And if living with Samuel, his gay awakening then so be it. Until, miracle of miracles, Samuel returns his attraction.
But the fire bug is still on the loose and could he be targeting Samuel? It was an entertaining thread that linked the stories in this series, and it was great to get to the conclusion.
I loved this final story in this series!! Samuel is the chief of the fire station, and he finally gets his HEA!! Mars owns a "new age" shop and has always had the hots for Samuel, but he didn't act on it because he thinks the chief is straight. Also, Samuel's son is one of Mars' best friends and how awkward would that be? LOL This can be read as a standalone, but I think readers should read the first two books because of the characters that will pop up in each book. This way you know who is who and what their story is! Loved the back and forth between Samuel and Mars and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! The story wraps everything up, the arsonist is caught and everyone is happy. Just the kind of stories I love. Really, you can go wrong with getting and reading all 3 of the books in this series! They are great!
Station 69 was a diverse, safe place full of sexy firefighters, some finding love with other hot guys, while dealing with an arsonist gunning for them. This, the final book in this series, wraps up the mystery of who & why they're being targeted, and the Chief & his son's best friend coming together when the going gets tough. It's a fun pairing, though Stephen doesn't quite agree. It was entertaining seeing Mars, with his 'woo-woo' shop & family, pursuing his bestie's dad, the Fire Chief, and Daddy. I so much enjoyed their story, I loved Mars to pieces, and how he managed/handled both father and son (not in the same ways, obviously lol) Sorry to see this series/these hotties go, but we'll see them again in Three Bears Tactical!
Samuel Sheridan, the newly appointed fire chief of Station 69. He still misses the days of being on the crew. He's trying to find ways of keeping his crews sharp and happy with this crazy arsonists in his town? When the arsonist heat up his attacks will it allow the Chief to catch him? Mars Allen, small business owner The Chrysalis Moon, his best friends is Chief Sheridons son. When Mars loses everything to the Arsonist and finds himself staying with Chief Sheridan. Mars' bright personality wants to help the chief de-stress from the craziness of his work. But Mars has always had a crush on the Chief, but can they conquer all when the Arsonist attacks the Chief at his job? Can Mars conquer the Chief heart after all, or would it ruin his friendship with Chief Samuels' son?
I loved this book so much! This story has it all, a great world and characters, love, spice, and intrigue with the mysterious arsonist. I was so engaged I couldn’t put it down. I just fell in love with both Samuel and Mars. They are both such interesting characters and I was rooting for them the whole time. Samuel being the chief of police who’s been lonely and a little lost after his son, Steven, grew up and Mars being a free spirit and Steven’s best friend. However different they seem they were perfect for each other. It was great seeing everyone at Station 69 and from previous stories plus finally getting a conclusion to who the arsonist is. I highly recommend this whole series and I can wait for more stories from this world!
I’ve been looking forward to this 3rd installment of the series and it did NOT disappoint!
I adored both MCs and the daddy/boy dynamic between them. Samuel was the perfect daddy for Mars, before he even realized it. And Mars was a natural boy, despite him thinking he might not be. I loved the buildup to Samuel accepting that Mars was going to be his, and that once he’d made that decision, he was all in. No 3rd act breakup or drama!
Both MCs had such great relationships with all of the side characters and previous characters we knew from the first 2 books were interwoven well. This book could definitely be read as a standalone but those connections made it even more enjoyable for me to read.
Spoiler alert: Super excited for Three Bears Tactical!
Pardon the pun but this book is so hot it is on fire! His entire series has been a treat to read and I highly recommend it. This is Mars and Samuel's story. Samuel is the sexy fire chief for the town and Mars is his son's best friend who runs a metaphysical new age shop. He lives his bohemian lifestyle while Samuel is older and more of a follow the rules kind of guy. And yet when Mars loses his house to fire, Samuel opens his house to him and the awkward sparks begin to fly. Soon their mutual attraction leads to some very spicy intimate scenes. Their road to a happily ever after is fun, dangerous, but always satisfying. I loved their story; their age gap, opposites attract insta-love story.
4.5⭐️ A wonderful end to this series, I really enjoyed Samuel and Mars together. This was an interesting take on a Daddy romance, I especially appreciated that Mars was so open to exploring with Samuel . Best friend’s father is an absolute favorite of mine and I loved how this author approached it. I liked that both Samuel and Mars deal with Steven directly- which was so refreshing! The conclusion to the arson mystery was well executed, I enjoyed the pacing of the investigation and the satisfying resolution. The couple was the highlight for me though, Samuel and Mars have a really believable connection and I loved their chemistry. Great characters, wonderful series!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Hot Zone by Jacki James is the final book in the Station 69 series. We’ve been following the arsonist in all three books so it was satisfying to figure out who they were and why they were burning down buildings/businesses connected to the station firefighters. This was also a romance between Fire Chief, Samuel, and his son’s best friend Mars. Mars’ home burns down (for once not caused by the arsonist) and he stays with Samuel to get back on his feet. While there, the two begin a relationship. I really liked these two together. They seemed to bring out the best in each other. I was happy that Steven (Samuel’s son) didn’t have too big of an issue with it. I am really excited about the glimpse into the next series. I cannot wait to see what Jacki brings us next!
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review
Jacki James writes another adorable book with a slice of danger and excitement. Samuel is the captain of Station 69 plagued by an arsonist who is seemingly targeting his people. Mars is Samuel’s son’s best friend. Tragedy strikes and forces Samuel and Mars together. What follows is a precious love story interwoven with an arson at large. I loved this story, but I wasn’t surprised. Jacki James can do no wrong, and really, firefighters, Daddies, and baby boys? Yes please! While this book wraps up the Station 69 series, I know our beloved characters won’t go too far, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!!
This is book 3 of the series and must be read in order for the overlaying arc. Mars and Steven have been friends since they were teens. When they were 15, Mars told Steven that he had a huge crush on his dad. Fast forward a dozen years and Mars owns a shop in Vesper. One day his house catches fire and when he goes to his rental, Samuel told him that he couldn’t stay at his store but with him. This is the start of the story as they got closer and went from friends to lovers to more. Loved the world building, high heat and chemistry between them. The arc was resolved as well. Cannot wait to read the next book in this world.
