Goodnight, My Love! is a bedtime picture book for young children. This book is about a little boy who is trying to avoid going to bed by making up different excuses. His dad suggests planning a dream that the little boy would like to see. I think this book is great to read to kids because it gives them an open mind to their imagination which I think it's really important. A part of child development is letting children to explore with their mind and giving them a chance to use their imagination into their lifestyle. This book really opens that door and as readers it will enhance them to use that imagination and think about their own dreams in a way. I loved the illustrations and how it didn't take away from the actual book and storyline. Goodnight, My Love also won a Gold Medal in 2019 Readers' Favorite annual international book award in the Children - General category.

Most kids find it hard at times to fall asleep. Some of them are frightened by the dark, or of sleep itself, or some other reason, as Alex in this delightful loving story. Shelley Admont's book addresses this problem in a child-friendly manner. Samir Boumsik's colorful eye-catching drawings supplement the story perfectly. Children will love both the story, how it is told, and the drawings.
In this tale, Alex has a problem going to sleep despite his dad reading him a story, tucking him in, and telling him that he loves Alex. Alex has all kinds of excuses to avoid sleeping. Then he explains to his dad that he doesn’t know what to dream about.
His dad solves this problem for Alex. Parents can use Alex’s dad’s method with their children who will enjoy it. The children themselves will like the tale very much.

A pleasant short story.
The text is written in English and Spanish. The Spanish was in bold font. I thought this was a fun way to learn Spanish, especially once you know how to pronounce the words. One needs to have a little bit of Spanish experience beforehand. The English part of the story read simply and correctly. My knowledge of Spanish is not good enough to comment on what was written. However, judging by the high level of accuracy in the English section I am prepared to hedge my bets and label this as a worthwhile little bedtime read.

September 19, 2023I'm still not even at this reading level, but it was a good challenge. The font the Russian was in made that even more difficult unfortunately, it took me longer than it should have to realize I knew words that I didn't recognize at first, only because the letters looked different. The downsides of using one app with just one font, I suppose. A gap I'll have to work on.
(Story wise, never in the book does the dad say "Goodnight, my love." Why is the book called that? The dad said so many other goodnights, why is that the title, grr.)

This is a nice sweet story about a father putting his son to bed.
He read him a story and then said goodnight. Then the son needed a glass of water and he kept needing things until the patient father got him to say what he really needed. He was afraid of his dreams. He and his dog helped him. Read the heartwarming end and you will have a smile.

Good way to teach a second language to the kids
The added bonus of the translate function (didn't know it existed till today) in the kindle app helped loads... Much better than my dire attempt at speaking German. Actually I may try that translate function on a standard book too. Nice basic paragraphs. My grandkids liked the dream scene too. The Illustrations were good too.

Stalling at bedtime? A tactic I know well, from personal experience.
I'll tell you this, Goodreaders. Alex's Dad in this story is a whole lot more patient than I would have been in his place.

I read this book because i am trying to learn German. reading kids books are a great way to see how words are structured and this book is great because not only do i get the German text i get its English translation and pictures that give me context for the story and the actions are so repetitive that its easier to pick up words and grammar.

I read this as a VOX Book (Books that talk)
English was spoken first then the German version.
Cute story. As a parent, this story was very relatable as my own children didn't want to go asleep.

Enjoyed reading it to my granddaughter and I had to smile because every time I put her to bed she does these and several others to avoid falling asleep

Easy to read for learing, recomended lvl of french: A1+
