THE ENDLESS TRAGEDIES OF THIS WORLD ALL BEGIN WITH THIS CHARACTER.
Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse is Dokja’s favorite novel, or it was...until it became reality. Thanks to his knowledge of the story, he managed to survive the first chaotic moments of the new world. But the relentless scenario waits for no one, and Dokja finds himself in yet another life-or-death struggle. Isolated from his group and surrounded by horrific creatures, his story seems all but doomed to a premature ending...That’s when an unmistakable presence makes an entrance. It’s time for Dokja, the only reader of TWSA, to meet its main character―the Regressor Junghyeok Yu!
Dokja's story is all our stories really as readers. He is a reader who is living the 3149 chapters novel he has been reading for 10 years of his life. He went through so much while reading that novel from a student to a working man, and through all that life threw at him at that time. The time we put into reading is significant, you could even say some of us are in error with the time we allocate to reading, when we could put it to much better use of securing a better future (I am totally guilty of this sin) While Dokja used his knowledge in his favorite novel, when the world became that novel. That's not going to happen to any of us, the world isn't morphing except to 1984 by Orwell if you are in some countries *Cough China Cough. We are not getting isekaied to a novel world either, except in our dreams, specially me since i am incapable of sleeping without reading!
I actually have another rant about the ethical dilemma of Dokja using what he know about these characters to get close to them, i will save it to another review. This issue we see way more potential than before, and we actually see something else! This is not an Alien invasion or takeover if you will by any stretch of the imagination, Constellations are not gods, they are not aliens, They are stories, and they are real people, they are our stories, our angels, our gods, our fantasy heroes, our historical heroes. This is not a takeover by the constellations, specially if they could become bankrupt like what happened to Defense Master this issue. We are not only delving into the lives of these characters, we are also delving into the minds and sometimes lives of the constellations, and learning a fantasy tale here, or a historical event there, this will be really fun.
The art! Oh boy, this is one of those very very rare instances of an action manga/manwha being so clear, and great to follow and look at, in 42 chapters, there has not been a single action sequence that wasn't clear, you don't even need to figure anything out, it's such a beauty to behold, which again brings us to anime, why the fuck would they animate Solo leveling who had the most horrendous action sequences that are not easy to follow, and ignore this one that will make the lives of the animators much easier?!
Again i am never looking for something to hate on in the books i read i want to enjoy, sometimes it's impossible to not be annoyed about so many aspects, In this Manwha so far i have no reason to complain, great job by everyone, can't wait to read everything that came out for this!
The main protagonist of the book is kinda hot….. but also kind of a jerk. LIKE WDYM HE JUST THREW DOKJA INTO A SERPENTS MOUTH. Luckily Dokja survived 😝 and he was also smart enough to make a deal with the imp not having a star backer and all. Very intriguing. I hated those people in the train station. Such bad people even during an apocalypse😔
"Omniscient Reader" is a captivating WEBTOON that embraces a metanarrative approach, experimenting with storytelling and cultural mythology. It delivers a compelling and multi-layered narrative that seamlessly combines elements of science fiction, fantasy, and metafiction. The webtoon masterfully mocks clichés in web novels, employing satire to deconstruct common tropes and provide a fresh perspective.
The story revolves around an outsider, Kim Dokja, who, armed with the Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint skill, becomes a powerful character observing and influencing the end of the world. I love the interactive nature of the protagonist's role as a reader within the narrative, I think it adds a metafictional layer that invites you to reflect on the nature of storytelling, fate, and the impact of choices.
In the continuation of Omniscient Readers Viewpoint vol 2, Dokja and the rest is faced with yet another challenge they have to figure out what to do. An unexpected twist throws Dokja into a difficult task: how will he survive and how does reading TWSA benefit him and in return save him? As always, the artwork is splendid and the plot makes me want to read more asap! I’m so happy my boyfriend recommended this series to me, and I can’t wait to read what happens next! The unexpected twists and turns is making my head spin! Happy reading!♥️
"I used to be a fan of yours [...] I liked you...hated you...resented you...and rooted for you."
Re-reading all the earlier chapters on the manhwa makes me want to do a re-read of the novel TvT. Bridge scene paralleling with the recent chapter in the manhwa before demon king arc is also just amazing.
I feel like so long as the story happens underground in these godforsaken tunnels, I somehow grow a sense of claustrophobia that I did not have in the past.
Please save me from this constant grey setting. I am going insane.
That being said, it's still a fun read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I need to catch up in the book because I feel like I’m missing a lot of important details. Similar to Solo Leveling which I loved but I read the books first so the manhwa made more sense.
4.5 / 5: “May the blessings of the stories be with you.”
cant even begin to describe to you how surreal it felt to finally read kim dokja & yu junghyeok’s first meeting :’)
fun fact: not only have i known about this web novel for quite a while, but ive also been familiar with the popularity of a certain fanon (?) ship, so……
that + the scenes between kim dokja & the goblin, bihyeong, were my most favorite parts of this volume. the former carried a lot of tension as reader and OP protagonist meet each other for the first time; while the latter made me laugh in how much kim dokja caught bihyeong off-guard with his supreme knowledge of the story. the way he managed to find a lot of loop holes to carry him through made him a much more compelling character. it feels so interesting knowing that it’s like we’re the constellations ourselves, overseeing the actions of these incarnations and determining how or if we wish them to survive.
the fourth wall skill kim dokja activated may make it seem as if this game would be too easy, but as seen in his confrontation with yu junghyeok, he’ll have to be very careful in wading through this narrative!! it’s all so exciting!!
phenomenal artwork, of course, and i cannot wait to see more of it!!
I understand all those who left "ways to survive" in chapter 50 🤣🤣😂🤣 I almost did it in chapter 37. Post-apocalypse stories are not very much to my taste, but these last chapters are more interesting
I'll continue with the next volume to see if it continues to improve
