The dragon king told me to stay away from him. I didn't listen.
When the king of this realm saw me bathing in a stream, he did his best to warn me. Keep my distance or the curse upon him would set his blood on fire and he would ravage me brutally.
I didn't, and he did.
But he did more than just pin me to the forest floor and mount me like a feral beast.
He made me his, and no matter how savagely he ruts me or how thoroughly he blisters my bare backside while trying to scare me away, I'll never stop being what I was always destined to be.
His mate.
Publisher's Feral King is a stand-alone novel which is the third book of the Dragonborne Kings series. It includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Skim read-no rating. I didn’t realize this was a book 3… not sure if that would’ve made much difference though. I’m not super familiar with this author, I know she writes a lot of smut with rough, spanking alphas… but I heard this had a plot, so I thought I’d give it a shot.
And it does have a plot I suppose, but there really isn’t any character/relationship development… and the plot doesn’t flow in a way that it’s easily followed. I mean the gist is that a dragon (Roken) has been cursed living in exile for 500-ish years when he meets Sophia after she stumbles through a portal. And the two are mates and need to work together to break the curse/defeat the Dark King… but a lot of the middle part is confusing… and not really explained. Not to mention, there are several loose ends left at the end.
Bottom Line- It was ok but felt like half a story. I got bored and started skimming… I got really bored and skimmed to the end to see how it ended.
'Feral King' is the third book in Sara Fields' "Dragonborne Kings" series. This is a fantastical, magical storyline that makes it hard for me to give you a description of what's going on without giving everything away, which I am loathe to do. So let me give you the buildup. Madison White is a beautiful, successful, sexy actress. She's also extremely narcissistic and vain. With that type of personality, she knows how to work with the angels to keep herself at the forefront of the public's attention. With that in mind, she decided to adopt Sophia, age four, from the orphanage to show how loving and magnanimous she was. All the 'I's were dotted and the 't's crossed to make sure Sophia would project the perfect image standing next to Madison for publicity pictures. The outward image was beautiful. The reality was not what was projected. Sophia was virtually invisible to her new parents. She was a showpiece only. As Sophia grew up, she grew to be a beautiful young woman, rivaling and surpassing her "mother's" beauty. This caused Madison to pay an assassin to kidnap Sophia from their home the night before her twenty-first birthday and put a contract on her life. In this case, even the assassin has a conscience for one so young and innocent and ultimately sends a phony picture of her demise and then lets her go. Far from her home and in the woods of a place she'd never been, Sophia takes shelter in a cave from a rainstorm. As she's scoping things out to make sure there are no unwanted guests she finds herself somehow transported through an alternate reality. Read the blurb and you'll get a bit more of the story. Get the book and you'll be on a journey of such drama, passion, and explicit scenes all of which are surrounded by magic, a curse, royalty, and dragons. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Sophia, a beauty ignored by her adoptive parents, stumbles into a realm inhabited by species as varied as elves, orcs, werewolves and dwarves. There she meets Roken, the once-king of Terraheim, cursed hundreds of years ago to become feral when experiencing strong emotions. In the past, his madness led to death and destruction so he put a caretaker guardian on his throne and exiled himself to the far reaches of his territory.
When he sees Sophia, his feral urges take over, but once he regains control of himself, he is surprised to learn he has not killed her. Turns out, her arrival is part of a prophecy that could not only save the realm from the clutches of the Dark King but save Roken himself from the curse.
This salacious retelling of Snow White is a page-turner. Part dark romance (by dark, I mean explicit intimacy heavy on the pleasure/pain spectrum) and part fantasy, I read this all in one sitting and it held my attention throughout. I loved guarded Roken and fearless Sophia and their smexy times were hot! 🔥 They were each other’s perfect match. They deserved a happily ever after, but did they truly get one or was it more of an HFN?
I received a free copy of this book and have decided to leave a review.
Rescued by love - Starts off like Snow White with an attention-seeking vain parent; ends with a fairytale ending, only the hero is a dragon. The middle is an otherworldy inter-species battle for a mystical kingdom, naughty bits included. Sophia riles Roken's insatiable desire for her person as well as his need to protect her. The slip of a girl proves her mettle, charging into battle to save the dragon king who claimed her wholly, body and soul.
The third of the series, this is the first SF story I have read in a while. The spanking of grown women got to be too much, as well as the over-the-top steamy scenes. I'll give a medal to the untried virgin who can withstand such vigorous attention. I am glad I took the time to read this one though. Steamy bits aside (and they are smoking hot!), the story offers an escape to a land filled with fantastical creatures and humans who just want the Dark King to back off. But what enemy ever cedes defeat easily? The battle might be lost but the war is not over. Not until the Dragonborne are defeated and there is only one king wearing a crown.

This should have been ten books. It went from contemporary to fantasy to s mut to percy jackson to lotr (with the prophecy and elves) to Disney (sleeping beauty) to biblical imagery.
Everything happened way too fast. Even Sophia’s battle skills seemed to pop out of nowhere. And that thing that happened after he marked her was such a what the fudge moment like where did THAT come from?!?!
And don’t get me started on the queen of the elves and how dismissive she was about the prophecy Sophia heard. If she had any comprehension skills, or if the book took enough time on it, the queen could have realized “oh this isn’t such a doomed thing”😤🤦🏻♀️
This is probably for someone, but it isn't me. I'm all for smut, but I am NOT for instant attraction to the point where you're willing to bang a man/dragon in the middle of a forest in a land you've never been too because you felt "drawn" to him. Nope. Nada. Not for me. Also, you're just okay with being in a world you've never been before and somehow also seemingly okay with creatures you didn't know existed and magic you apparently have as long as you don't have to go back to your mother? Granted, the mom is a c-word but still...where is the panic?!
Needless to say, this really wasn't the right book for me, but if you are into shifter romances, insta-attraction/maybe love, and a stubborn female main character, this might be for you.
This is the 3rd book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Sophia had always known she was adopted but when someone commented on how beautiful she was her adoptive mother knew that it was time for Sophia to go. She plotted to have Sophia kidnapped and never return however her kidnapper chose to let her go and never go back home. She discovered a cave to hide in which led her to a new world where she discovers her mate. Can she break the curse and save her dragon shifter mate? Fast-paced read with lots of steam and plenty of drama. Great world building and entertaining story. I liked it.
I loved getting back to another paranormal spicy read from SFields. There are few other authors on my Must-Read shelf that I continue to back to. She is an author that I know will always give a great tale that can deliver on that great blend of dark romance and sexual fire.
I really enjoyed the blend of the fantasy of the paranormal and real world created a world I wanted to jump into also. I want a drangonborne!! Right blend of dominance and submission with the characters. I have a hard time with brats and the FMC was able to keep the balance of submission and strength. Overall, this standalone was another great addition to not only the series but the author's growing collection
I will always look to read about dragons and beauties that change the love that is clearly there.
This book is book three of the Dragonborne series and another truth of this shifter world. Roken has exiled himself for an action not his own..and Sophia is the key to ending the curse and making him see the truth.
The lesson here is becareful of who you allow to see your vulnerability for not everyone is worthy and some need only the promise of power they see to turn on you.

Portaled from Earth and dropped on Terraheim, Sophia meets the Feral King in a most auspicious manner. Rokien has steered clear of all, humans and others alike, so he’d can’t figure out how Sophia came to be in his forest. Clearly, the strings of fate are involved. This story has heaps and heaps of steam and plenty of darkness, similar to the other books in this series. This one builds and builds, spawning off the fairytale Snow White, and it’s happily ever after was a treat to read.
Excellent! I can't put this series down. Great story. Hot alpha male who happens to be a dragon and under a horrible curse making him feral. The Feral King gave up his crown due to the Dark King cursing him. He tries to stay away from women and really all people. He's too dangerous. He meets his mate but knows he can't be with her. But that doesn't mean he can't get in some spankings with her. I loved the chemistry between them. The story had me on the edge wondering what was going to happen next. Can they break the curse so he can take his rightful place as their king?
Sophia grew up in abusive home. Her stepmother hires a Hitman who ends up having a conscience and decides not to kill her. She ends up slipping into another Realm and find herself in danger again. Roken is a cursed Mad King. He saves Sophia's life and later discovers that she is his one true mate. Sophia goes on to save his life by breaking the curse. I can't wait for the next book cuz I want to know what the dark King does with the three vials of blood I have a feeling he's going to get a 4th.

This book was thrilling. Roken and Sophia were completely perfect for each other. Like all the dragon kings, Roken is reluctant to let anyone in. However what I love about this series is that even though each king is reluctant they all have reasons to be and their back stories are intriguing. Sophia's back story was interesting with a twist of snow white in there. Everything about this book was amazing. I can't wait to see how the rest of the plot unfolds.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Sofia White & Roken. This is a retelling of Snow White with a twist. Not only does she go to another dimension but her prince charming is actually a dragon. This also has a few other twists and turns. Can they find a HEA or will others make sure that never happens?
Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
He told me what would happen if I didn’t listen to him. And I didn’t because I already knew what would happen if I didn’t. No matter how badly he treated me I knew where this relationship would go eventually. I really got into this story. I found myself reading faster and faster. I couldn’t put it down. Anyone who enjoys fairytales and fantasy story will really like this story. I rate it a solid five.
Sophie pays little heed to Roken’s warning about what will happen. She is such a strong FMC that you absolutely will be cheering her own. Roken is broken and doesn’t think that he deserves Sophie. Soon, he realizes that his broken pieces come together with Sophie’s help. Absolutely adored this book and the steam level is off the charts.
I started out reading book one Dragon King and then I read Ice King and I couldn't get enough of these sexy Dragon Kings and I just finished Feral King. I absolutely loved this series from the captivating characters to the ott steam these stories did not disappoint. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this fabulously talented author. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This is the third book in this series and I really enjoyed it. Sophia and Rowen were steamy hot as a couple and watching them navigate their relationship kept me turning the pages. Really enjoyed it a lot!
I read this in one sitting! It kepy my attention till the last word had been read. I loved Roken and Sophia. These two definetly had desire and off the chart chemistry! Never a dull moment between them. Great way to spend the evening reading I think. Check it out. So happy I did.
I'm a sucker for anything Ms. Fields writes, and I'll never turn my nose up at a dragon shifter romance, so this was a win-win for me. It's steamy, fast-paced, full of action and adventure, and kept me entertained from beginning to end.
I love the series and the author, but the descriptive nature gets a little too heavy and the impact play a little harsh for my taste. I’m already invested in the series and want to know how the dark king will be defeated.
I enjoyed this one too. Follows the same path as the book 1 & 2. The only real problem I have with these are that they just leave their past lives. There is no pay back of any sort, dang it. Other then that, there are plenty of steamy scenes and a pretty good plot.
Jumping to no 4 can't wait “You look absolutely radiant with my baby in your belly, my queen,” he murmured. “Your son,” I breathed, and he sucked in a breath.
I have enjoyed this series by this author. I eagerly look forward to reading more. I'm most certain believe the next book won't disappoint. This Author is amazing💖💖💖
These have been great. Love the plot and the spice included. Can't wait to continue reading. Completely worth it. Looking forward to reading more of your books.
A Snow White retelling is what it felt like to me. I would have loved it, but the writing style was an issue for me. I found myself trying to hard to enjoy it.
Wow! This series just gets better and better. The world building is just incredible and I’m really loving these Dragonborne heroes. I like the heroines, too, but I just wish they were are rich and complex as the Dragon heroes. Sophia, just like the previous heroines in this series, is inconsistent and not as three dimensional as Roken. I also found the beginning, where we learn about her background and then how she ends up in Terraheim to be less than interesting and pointless, especially in comparison to the exciting and engaging rest of the book. I mean, I get it. It’s Snow White. Evil Queen who’s jealous of her beauty, sends a woodsman, or in this case a Hitman, to kill her, blah, blah, blah. Totally unnecessary. And the way she gets sent to Terraheim doesn’t even make sense. Since none of her previous life is really discussed and has no influence or baring on the rest of the book, my advice is to skim the first two chapters quickly and get to the good stuff.
Everything about Sophia and Roken was filled with emotion. These two really are fated mates. They make a great couple and I really wanted them to get their HEA. There were parts of the book that felt rushed a bit and I got confused a couple of times, but it all worked out. Fortunately I read the first two books or I would have been totally lost. Truthfully this book isn’t really a standalone and the deeper we get in the series the more important it will be to read all the books in order. I can’t wait. Roken mentions Terraheim’s sister realms, Icegard, Blazelheim, and Sungard. Blazelheim is the Dragon King and Icegard is the aide King. That leaves Sungard for the next book. I’m so wanting to know what kind of Dragonborne he will be!
