PixarPedia includes all the Pixar films and shorts up to Toy Story 3 and details all the characters that appear in the films as well as some behind the scenes information on the films definitely a book for Pixar fans. I really enjoyed re-watching the films as I was reading this.
Pixarpedia is the ultimate visual companion for all the Pixar movies and shorts, from Toy Story to the latest Up. It's filled with details like character bios, fun facts and story arcs. It even includes characters that weren't named in movies, like the multiple cars from Cars and utility robots (and rejects) from WALL-E, and a whole lot more.
The layout of the book is beautiful and high resolution pictures are used throughout. This is a book made for fans who can't get enough of Pixar goodness.
Gorgeous coffee table book that is stuffed with trivia about Pixar films (up to & including, well, UP). While there's not as much "behind the scenes" & "easter egg" info in here as I would have liked, there's still a lot for Pixar fans to enjoy. Esp. interesting is the background stories behind a number of characters who appear for minues (or even seconds) in the films.
It's not a quick read, of course - it's a coffee table book that is best enjoyed in small doses.
Anyone who is interested in immense trivia of any Pixar movies, needs to see this book. Filled with amazingly clear and close up stills from the different movies, you get to see a lot of detail you miss while watching the movies. Overflowing with trivia and behind-the-scene moments, the reader will learn just about everthing there is to know when it comes to the great movies Pixar has given us. A great coffee table sized book.
I have to say I expected more. I wanted to know more of behind-the-scenes stories and less of what I already know about the characters, having watched the movies.
It's still an enjoyable book but I just wish that there were more.
One of the things I found out is that they start the movie by recording the voices, not creating the characters and animating them as I thought. It explains why many characters resemble the actors doing their voices.
Pixarpedia is a comprehensive but clear companion to the Pixar movies up to and including Toy Story 3. Gorgeous full-page photos accompany a wealth of information. This is a must-own for any Pixar fan.
Lots of pictures. Mostly I skipped the overviews of movies and characters because I know them. But there were some cool facts in there on how the movies were made, how the company started, etc.
Great stills from all the movies and short films, and some nice "insider" information throughout the book. I just didn't like that the text was written to a juvenile audience.
