A Neverland Novel Series comes to an epic end with The Island of the Lost. Bailey wasted no time with giving us the angst, drama & love. If you have not read The Lost Darling & Second Star to the Right, then this review will give spoilers. Please read the first 2 books before reading this one.
After that shocking ending of Second Star to the Right, I'm glad Bailey got back into it right away. Wednesday is waiting for Pan to come back to get her, but something is not right. Her sister Tyle thinks she's developed Stockholm Syndrome, but Wednesday knows the truth and no matter how many times she tells her, she won't believe her. But even more shocking Wednesday finds out she's PREGNANT by none other than Cass. And after she gives birth, Cass comes and steals their baby and flees back to Neverland. Now Wednesday is losing her mind and FINALLY after 5 years she runs into James and finds her way back to Neverland. But Neverland is dying, and they have to find a way to stop Belle and save everyone they love.
This book keeps you on the edge of your seat for sure. To read about Neverland hurting like that destroys a part of them, and if you are a fan of Peter Pan like I am then you feel their pain. Neverland is a place of hope, dreams and love, and to see Belle destroy it over greed was brutal. Cass was one of those characters that you love at first, but then hated him because of his actions. But even a villain can hopefully be redeemed right?
Wednesday, Pan, & Peter are a dynamic team to begin with but when they add James to their team, they are UNSTOPABLE. The love they have for one another is pure and epic. They will literally do anything for one another, and Wednesday does something that Wendy couldn't do. She didn't choose between Peter and James; she chooses them both. She proved there's enough room in her heart to love them both. But the betrayal this team faces is unexpected and cruel. I clearly didn't see it coming but it was beautifully planned. Peter Pan is and always be one of my favorite fairy tales, and this is one of my favorite retellings of the classic story!!
