A trilogy of novels chronicling a young dark-elven girl's exploration of her world. This is an interesting exploration of how culture affects perspective, as well as the lines between good and evil. However, The Starlight and Shadows series will probably only be enjoyed by fans of high-fantasy.

A great series that gets hurt by the last book when in time jumps forward and the main character loses most of what she gained.

MEME, CAN YOU THINK OF ANY FANTASY BOOKS WHERE THE HERO IS THE HEROINE'S BODYGUARD OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, AND IS ONE OF THOSE SILENT AND THOUGHTFUL TYPES BUT HOBVIOUSLY HAS A SOFT SPOT FOR THE HEROINE? I SWEAR ONE OF THE FANTASY BOOKS I'VE READ ON MEME'S RECOMMENDATION HAS THAT DYNAMIC BUT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT BOOK IT IS AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY.

Aha! This is the series I read as a young teenager that's messing with my expectations in my current D&D campaign. The memories are fuzzy but I remember enjoying these three books quite a bit.
