The New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Just Tyrus returns in his inimitable style with deeper reminiscences on the life that shaped him and how he views the world we’re living in."In this sequel, you'll delve into some of Tyrus's extraordinary life experiences and see how they connect with the most pressing issues of our immigration, crime, bullying, athletics, politics, China, parenting, and respect (for ourselves, each other, and the planet). It is Tyrus’s commentary on all of these issues that has the power to silence a room. When he talks, people listen. There's so much wisdom and common sense in his takes that you’ll finish this book more informed and more optimistic about the future—and we could all use that.” —Dana Perino A rare voice of reason and authentic storyteller who never holds back, Tyrus picks up where he left off in Just Tyrus, delivering a series of gut-wrenching, heart-rending and redemptive tales from his remarkable life and coupling them with no-nonsense insights on the hottest issues being discussed around the country. “Tyrus remains one of the most distinct, original voices in any medium, if not one of the most brutally honest to enter the realm of television since Charles Krauthammer. I mention them both because they're not different—both deep thinkers who leave inedible marks on those who are lucky enough to cross their paths. It’s Tyrus's thinking that drives this book, and you'll get it through his powerful words. Writers spend years trying to concoct a voice. Tyrus makes it seem like it was always there.” —Greg Gutfeld Whether he’s tackling the issues of race and activism in America today or confronting his past with stories of family, relationships, wrestling, and more, this is pure Tyrus at his unbridled best. The parallels he draws between current culture and his personal past are insightful, provocative, and profound. Nuff Said is a powerful reflection on a complex life and a complicated world.
Taking a raw and unfiltered view of contemporary culture and politics is what this book is all about. Tyrus is all about telling it like he sees it and his view is decidedly unique for a black man. After all, his upbringing is what the political left calls classic victim hood, but Tyrus firmly rejects that, and most all the left espouses. That he presents his view on current political issues with humor must have a lot of lefty heads just spinning. What he had to say is real and just common sense leavened with humor.
The only reason I didn't give this book five stars, is the editor didn't seem quite as focused as they should have been. I read Tyrus' book 'Just Tyrus' back in 2022. Still his voice-- a mix of his personal stories, advice, and viewpoints. The last chapters in the book are my favorite. One is the chapter titled 'Hustlers Gonna Hustle (Welcome to BLM)', which is about all the various movements trying to shakedown the rest of us for their 'cause'. Another of my favorites is 'My Fox Family' that gives his pov on several supportive Fox personalities. A quick read, much common sense. If you're a Tyrus fan, or a Fox fan a must read. I wish more mainstreamers would give this book a chance. Much to ponder.
Added bonus--part of Tyrus youth was spent in the Antelope Valley in California. He played football at Antelope Valley College, a short walk from where I live. This year he was inducted into the AV College Hall of Fame, along with some other well deserving individuals. He'll be doing one of his shows in nearby Santa Clarita in May--my wife and I are going. Can't wait to finally see him in person.
Tyrus’s chapter on abortion is absolutely heartbreaking. Everyone concerns themselves with the rights of a woman and / or the rights of the unborn child; but for the first time, that I am aware of, we hear about this subject from the man’s point of view, and it is overdue. I am heartbroken for all three involved.
His chapter about sea turtles also made me weep. I mean I had to put the book down and go get tissues and just broke down.
I don’t agree with him on everything, but I know that he would listen to my point of view, and I might even be able to move him to reconsider. He is that kind of person. Someone who would listen.
Tyrus is never shy about expressing his opinions. I tune in each night to "Gutfeld" just to hear Tyrus express his views.
Tyrus is honest and forthright, in my view, about his thoughts either political or otherwise. He admits that he has no relationship with his mother, for example. He holds no bitterness against her, or so he writes.
In his book he writes about Frederick Douglass, Social Justice Warriors, Artificial Intelligence(AI), International Pronouns Day, Boys have no business playing with girls, The Court of Twitter, The Border, Are you right for the Job? His opinion about Millennials is not flattering. Abortion is just another topic that Tyrus shares. Vegans, Climate Change and electric vehicles are also on Tyrus' Hit List.
I read Tyrus's first book, which I enjoyed getting to know who he is. I just finished this book and I truly enjoyed his ideas and opinions. Tyrus you are very intelligent, kind and a very caring person. I hope to see more books coming!!!
“I will unite with anyone to do good, but with no one to do harm. “ (Frederick Douglass) A truly enlightening and refreshing journey with Tyrus as the guide! Yes. He talks politics. Oh! No! ‘Them there is fighting’ words.’ But, this well woven expose/memoir is engaging and profound. It offers insight into those issues that, if we let them, will, inevitably, always divide us. He weaves in reflections of his childhood and the abuses he suffered. But, this is not a book about ‘victim hood.’ But, rather a biopic, at times, paradoxical examination of our societies’ current state of affairs. Advice: If you’re looking for a ‘get on that soapbox and preach’, look elsewhere. Because, there is a raw, look in the mirror, find a common ground, and ‘look within before looking without’ ideal at play here. Of course, there may be, some/many will argue and, consequently, delete you if you disagree with their views. Again, Tyrus’ truths are grounded and ‘doable.’ Imagine finding that middle ground. That thread, however flimsy, that, like an ant that can carry more than 50 times its weight, can free each of us from our stoic beliefs that do little, if anything at all, to unify those things we DO have in common. One of my favorite books/plays is a ‘little known’ work (eye roll here), ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ by Lorraine Hansberry . There’s one line I’d like to include here-
Mama: There is always something left to love. And if you ain’t learned that, you ain’t learned nothing. Kudos, Tyrus!!
In this book, Tyrus has put into print what I, and I feel a large percentage of "average people" , are thinking. I am always most comfortable with people who are genuine and not afraid to speak their mind, which is what this book promotes.
Tyrus, comedian and former NWA World heavyweight Champion, is a frequent panelist on Fox News primarily for The Five and Gutfeld!. His previous book, Just Tyrus, was his autobiography. This, his second book, is much less biographical, though there are bits of that, and more political. Tyrus covers a wide range of topics here, from Twitter to Cops to Junk Food to Pronouns to BLM and all sorts in between. It's a fairly quick and easy read.
I really enjoy watching you on Fox and love reading your books. It’s been a pleasure watching you grow as a person. What a Joy!! I would love to give this book to all my grandsons for Christmas. I think it would be very inspirational for them to read. After all the sky’s the limit and you’ve certainly proven that! Btw…I think you’re more godly than you think. 🤔 God Bless!! Continue to be Great! ❤️
An easy read that still manages to provoke your thoughts. It flows more like a collection of opinion editorials, sprinkled with personal anecdotes that are both funny and heartbreaking. Whether you agree with all, some, or none of the opinions in this book, it at least will give insight as to why the author believes in certain things. It’s an example of public discourse and respectful debate that is mostly missing in today’s media.
So enjoyed this book and learning mote about Tyrus and his take on life. Have to say he is one of the most intelligent and interesting people on television today his honesty and character speak for the man. I am a fan
Very interesting. You really get to know the real Tyrus. What ever show he pops up on, you know it will be thought provoking. Always look forward to his comments that at times are surprising
This was a good read to see someone else’s take on things going on in the world/economy currently. Everyone is obviously going to have their own point of view but there was some going point that were made..
This is a simple book told well. Common sense ideas in an enjoyable format. Just because an idea is deep doesn't mean it had to be tedious to read. Tyrus has a relatable writing style and well laid out format. Agree or disagree, A great conversation starter.
You have to enjoy Tyrus and the who crew on Gutfeld! Just very down to earth explanations on what's going on in this world and his suggestions to help people understand "what's 'sup"
Another good book by Tyrus. Some stories or info was repeated from previous book but overall it was a good book. I enjoyed learning more about his personal opinions.
This exposes larger portions of the core Tyrus of origins and progressions than the first book did. Kudos for coming to such seriousness levels so quickly! And I particularly like how he divided the chapters by topic and his viewpoints and stance re their playing out. Excellent format.
Tyrus at this stage reminds me quite strongly of the earlier George Carlin fare although with much more good intent and much less natural negativity attitude. Before Carlin became bitter and nasty nihilist at core. But taken both George's ages? This George Murdoch is not going to go that route.
Funny still YES. But this book is way, way more serious than book #1. And do I applaud the fact that he understands the core problem why his relationship with his mother will never work. Because he looks exactly like his father. You can't believe the amount of humans who never understand that visceral reaction inherent in abuse situations. Or how hard it is to overlook appearance or facial smirk or some common denominator in both. Bodies react to them.
Well that is getting in the weeds. But Tyrus does here. And I can't say I agree with him on all. The only star lacking was the fact he held back on reality for book #3. I bet it will be about the kids and more parenting issue stuff that he gets into here. Remember one thing. Role modeling is the first and most important factor as a parent. Not what you say as much as what you do. And when. And not letting them fail and fall becomes tragic in the long run.
Particularly liked the honesty of his Snoop Dog protector era on how to handle bosses. And loved his pages of gratitude towards listed and particular co-workers at the ending. Superb. They were 5. I don't think he met up with the real, true constant honesty of a Dana Perino until he was an mid-life adult. It shows when impressions of that kind hit home. I didn't think really evil people existed until I was about 25 or 30 for similar reasons. My placements were surrounded by 1000's of good intent saints whose worst faults were being late for Mass.
I recommend this if you want to hear something from someone who gained some essential self-knowledge and best life viable improvement strictures early in life, as much as those who love humor or gotcha's stories that are priceless. And double down please on taking selfies with wild animals chapter here- take it to heart. The natural world idiots out there trying to rid themselves from the gene pool everywhere you go are numerous. Stupidity on legs. And the "Hustlers are going to Hustle" chapter is 6 stars all by itself.
"Nuff Said" was sometimes "too much said." As much I as I enjoy Tyrus on Fox News, and liked his first book, this second one is disappointing. I felt that, at times, Tyrus was condescending, providing definitions for terms widely known (or maybe I knew them due to listening to him on the network), yet he failed to explain why he supports ranked-choice voting (159). Was Tyrus referring to hypocrisy at Fox News when he writes, "They [Republicans] also love to talk about personal responsibility and family values, but when it comes time to actually live up to those ideals, they sometimes fall short" (158)? While he discusses Jesse Watters's "integrity" in the "My Fox Family"chapter, sources state that Watters cheated on his wife with a Fox colleague, to whom he is now married. (THAT's why I want to "knock his teeth out.") Is that "integrity?" And, although Tyrus never mentions Hannity, Sean, too, fooled his listeners by expounding on family values, even though he had been separated from his wife for years. Finally, the editing is not good. This book is obviously a "formula" for Fox News as it attempts to push up-and-coming "stars." It came out too fast, and someone did not do his/her job. My hope is that Tyrus does not get sucked into the "Corporate America" system. He is way too talented, too smart, and too independent to "settle." I look forward to his next book, one that can be written with more care to detail, less repetition, and more grit, like the personal, raw realism of the chapter "Abortion."
Listened to this in half a day while cleaning house. This is his second book and is less biography, but does mix in his own life experiences to illustrate points and show how those experiences shaped his current opinion on matters going on in the world today.
I loved those book. Most of his opinions are in lock step with my own. I was not expecting that. Tyrus is also quite funny and I enjoyed his anecdotes during more serious moments to break things up a bit.
If you’re interested in his life story, then read Just Tyrus. If you’re more interested in his take on major issues in America today, like bullying, abortion, immigration, and much more, then this is the book for that. He also goes into more detail about working for Fox News. I really liked those parts too. I look forward to reading more by Tyrus. He does a good job with the narration for audiobook too. Definitely 5 Stars!
NUFF SAID is a thought-provoking, common sense look at the hot issues of the day.
I read and enjoyed Tyrus’s memoir, JUST TYRUS, so when NUFF SAID came out, I had to read it. A common sense, middle-of-the-road conservative, Tyrus expounds on some of the most controversial issues of the day: pronouns, transgender females playing women’s sports, social justice, artificial intelligence, the border crisis, junk food, climate change, and more. In many cases, he relates his personal experiences to the issues he’s talking about. The most poignant chapter is the one on sea turtles (hint: it’s not really about turtles). I found the chapter on AI to be the most thought-provoking.
This is a must read for anyone interested in current events and/or political issues—and fans of Tyrus.
