This inspiring life story tells of Smith Wigglesworth’s early years and his struggle with his faith in God. Details his recommitment to God, his ministry with his wife, his search for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and how he became God’s tool for an incredible, world-renowned healing ministry.
How could I give less than 5 stars? A totally amazing biography, a testimony of how great our God is. A quick read, too, because I couldn't put it down (I had to, sometimes). As edifying as Georg Müller's story, about faith, healing and living a joyful and victorious life in God's presence.
What a powerful testimony of a man given entirely to God. It was not an easy path that Smith walked to achieve all that God called him to do, but with faith he achieved all for the Kingdom! "Great faith is the product of great fights. Great testimonies are the outcome of great tests. Great triumphs can only come out of great trials" S.W. There is so much I learned, so much that was reconfirmed, and so much to ponder over and integrate into my life.
In seeking favor with the Blessed God of Creation, Smith Wigglesworth found a more excellent life to live out scripture. In his faith of all we have been given, the glory of healing the infirmity of the flesh began a journey that testified to what great faith in the Word of God does accomplish.
What an inspiring book! This biography of Smith Wigglesworth is a compilation of his personal testimony, testimonials from others and recollections from the author and various other people who knew and worked with the man. It tells the story of how God chose the most unlikely fellow to bear His message of healing, deliverance, salvation and transforming power through Jesus Christ.
Born to unsaved and hopelessly poverty stricken parents, Wigglesworth wasn't even allowed a proper education. Illiterate, but intensely in love with the Lord, he gave what he had to God and prayed for more to give.
The Lord granted an equally passionate life partner who taught Wigglesworth to read. Then God taught him about healing and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Armed with a simple but profound faith and the Bible as his only reading material, Smith Wigglesworth became a fearless warrior for Christ, combating disease, demonic oppression and unbelief all over the world!
If you're looking for an example of a humble, but powerful Pentecostal preacher blessed of God who truly did all for the Lord's glory and kingdom, this is a wonderful resource. It's easy to read and will stir you to desire and exercise the same manner of faith.
On the one hand I really enjoyed this short read. I was encouraged by the faith Smith Wigglesworth had of 'only believe'. He trusted God and God's word completely and lived a life full of conviction. It is clear that he lived our Deuteronomy 6:5, and had the courage to listen to God and follow him wherever that might be. On the other hand, I found myself disagreeing with some doctrinal issues in the book.
Every time I read about Smith, my faith goes through the roof! This is a short, well-written account of the mighty apostles life. As you read, your faith will soar!
I read this book many years ago when I first was saved, really helped me boost my faith. I felt like God wanted me to read this book again. I was very blessed reading about a man that had great faith and was used in a mighty way by God.
Fantastic; As for the content: Smith Wigglesworth was a powerful minister of the full gospel message in the early 1900's. Many, many healing miracles occured in his ministry along with other signs and wonders. This is a particularly good biography of Wigglesworth as the author was a friend of he, and his family. As such, much of the book is actually autobiographical, and that which isn't include testimonies of his close friends and relatives (including James Salter, Smith's son in law, who was an early missionary to the Congo, and also travelled extensively with Smith). The book also includes testimonies of men and women affected by Smith's ministry in their own words. Another excellent glimpse into Smith Wigglesworth is 'Pioneers of Faith,' by Dr. Lester Sumrall, in it Sumrall gives breif biographies of many early ministers (each of which he knew personally) of the latter rain outpouring of Pentacost, including Smith, his son in law James Salter, and the author of this book: Stanley Frodsham. In it Dr. Sumrall shares his experience with Smith at his home in England just before World War 2. Excellent, excellent books.
An inspiring account of a simple man with an extraordinary faith
Before word got out that a plumber in Bradford, England was performing miracles and wonders, Evangelical faith healer Smith Wigglesworth (1859-1947) was living a quiet life. His message was simple: the Bible was the only book that anyone need read, belief in the healing efficacy of Jesus Christ would cure anyone. Like Saint Paul before him, Wigglesworth traveled near and far healing the sick and the lame and winning thousands of converts for Christ.
Frodsham's laudatory biography has what you would expect from a book of this kind: the miracles and testaments of dozens of people who had lost all hope before giving their life over to God. While the stories are certainly amazing in themselves, I found the real contribution of Frodsham's account to be in the how. In the subtext of many of the chapters and in two chapters in particular ("His Secret of Spiritual Strength" and "The Challenger"), Wigglesworth explains how God is able to do these extraordinary things in women and men. No spoiler alert here because you've heard it all before: Belief in and obedience to the Word of God. Faith can move mountains.
Simply inspiring! That such a simple man, who unceasingly sought after God in prayer, could have such an impact on lives merely by his intersecting theirs;it makes one wonder just what God could do with an entire church of ones such as Smith Wigglesworth. And it also makes one wonder where, exactly, that church is today.
I've read this book more than once. It is inspirational and humbling. I highly recommend this book to anyone in need of a miracle. These testimonies are not about things that happened 2,000 years ago but ones that occurred in the past 100 years. Amazing!
This was the last complete book I read. It was about healing through the power of Jesus Christ, and how God used Smith Wigglesworth to affect many people's lives. It was an encouragement to one's faith.
I HAVE READ THIS BOOK SEVERAL TIMES AND CURRENTLY READING IT AGAIN AMAZING SPIRITUAL DEPTH YET SIMPLE AND A INSIGHT INTO SMITH WIGGLESWORTH'S LIFE ONE OF MY FAVORITES
Wonderful account of an unbelievable man of faith! This book really challenges one to seek for increased faith and reveals how shabby and insignificant most of our faith really is. Yes, we believe in God, but do we really believe God means what he says? Oh, Lord, help Thou my unbelief!
