All-around average teenager Tsukune can't get accepted to any high school save one...but on his first day, he finds the rest of the student body doesn't appear average in the least. Best of all, the cutest girl on campus can't wait to fling her arms around his neck! Wait a sec'--are those her teeth around his neck too...? Tsukune's going to have one heck of a hickey when he gets home from Monster High! But does he have a chance in H-E-double-hockey-sticks of raising his grades at a school where the turf war isn't between the jocks and the nerds but the vampires and the werewolves?
Akihisa Ikeda (池田晃久) is a manga artist/manga-ka best known for the manga series Rosario + Vampire (ロザリオとバンパイア Rosario to Vampire). He's been a huge fan of vampires and monsters since he was a little kid. He says one of the perks of being a manga artist is being able to go for walks during the day when everybody else is stuck in the office.
Rosario+Vampire Volume 10 is a lovely wrap up to season one!
I'm glad this ended the way it did. If you want want to continue on to season two you can feel like you at least read a complete series. There are no massive cliffhangers and it appears all happily ever after and nice. I like that. It's not leaving me feeling like I'm missing something.
It is kind of sad and I felt like not as much happened in this one as Volume 9, but I still really enjoyed it! I think it's a great final addition to the first season. It was also very intriguing to see all the girls coming by to meet Tsukune's family. Moka's final arc is really hard warming and made me smile. It's that sort of stuff that makes me really like manga. It feels so friendly and warm among all the crazy stuff that can go down.
So as someone who's seen the show, let me tell, the manga is ten times better than the anime. Yes, it's still a harem, but it's definitely more shonen than it first appears. Also the main character isn't completely useless!!! He actually turns out to be quite strong as the series progresses and I can't wait to see how much he will grow in the second season of this manga!!!
Rosario + Vampire ends it's first “season” in the tenth volume of this fantastic manga. It seems like each year is divided up into a “season”. The manga is currently on “Season II”. In this final first-season volume, a lot happens. Most of it is minor, but it paves the way for the next season, which starts with a new volume one. We find out Moka has a sister, we start to move away from the wacky “harem genre” nature, to seeing the pain that will happen once Tsukune and Moka are together for real, we see that Inner Moka does care for Tsukune (in a very tsundere manner, but still), among other things.
What made this unique is that the big epic fights were earlier, in this and the previous volume, and most of this volume was just really gag stuff. Very light-hearted for a transition from the first to second story arcs/school years/seasons. But the attentive reader will notice that, amidst the generally lighter fare, there were hints of more serious developments to come. Choices will have to be made eventually, and hearts will be broken.
Also of note is the conversation between the headmaster/Exorcist and the Bus Driver. When we take their conversation, along with past developments, into account, it seems that Tsukune's enrollment into Yokai Academy isn't as random or accidental as first appeared. The Headmaster has a purpose for the young man, and even though it is to do good, it is still a dangerous path he is arguably being manipulated onto.
Some of the gags were fanservicey enough to push the bounds a bit, but not too bad, so it was manageable. It's more about the atmosphere the author was trying to give us. A funny, ridiculous, time. A calm before the storm, if you will.
All in all, a fun volume and a nice transition to future volumes.
I can't believe I've read the end of this series! If you've been following my progress on Goodreads for a while, you would know that this was a long time coming! I'm so happy I've finished it before the end of the year, so now I can decide if I want to continue on with the next series of volumes next year. Unlike the vast majority of these mangas, there were quite a few things that happened in here that were really unexpected to me! I enjoyed the chapter a lot (which put me in a good mood for the rest of the manga), because it felt refreshing having a regular mortal exploring the school grounds and gave me a nostalgic feeling of Tskune's arrival many books ago, which I feel was mirrored at the end and came full circle. The translators notes on this one was really funny, but there were a few times where his translations didn't make the most sense it could have made, but of course, it was still readable (note: I read this online, not the physical verified translation, so this is a totally understandable). I really enjoyed being back with our fun group of friends (frienemies in some cases haha), but I really thought Tskune wouldn't be coming back and something really bad would happen! I was actually expecting there to be a big twist, with everyone saying they know Tskune's secret and that them being around him and behaving would be their passing project! Alas, I was wrong, but that would have been so funny. The last chapter felt like it would have worked better as an early scene and felt a bit backwards and I was totally right in that thought process because it was some sort of flashback, and even though I enjoyed it, I felt like it was a bit of a cop out because we didn't really get to spend time with our present day characters for that finale chapter! I really liked the fourth wall comic strips at the end of this volume! It really made me chuckle.
Overall, this was a fun ending to an up and down journey I've had with this series.
Meh... I don't think I'll be reading the next installment of this manga. The ending was boring and stupid... the characters...I don't really care about many of them. Unfortunate really.
The only thing this volume had going for it was this hottie :-p
And so the first season ends. And also my re-reading! This was a fun week full of re-reading this series and I hope to one day re-read it again, maybe then the whole series instead of just the first season.
Tsukune's cousin comes to visit and gets embroiled in the antics of a magic mirror that strips away everyone's human guises revealing the inner monster. What is really nice about this concluding volume is the inclusion of traditional yokai - umbrella monster, snake neck etc all make cameos. Can't wait to start the second series.
An old enemy returns to Yokai High as she turns the whole school festival into a nightmare monster brawl. Things get worse as she uses the unbrided monsters to attack Tsukune and the gang. Only the other Moka can stop this Witch of Snakes. But can she actually defeat her without taken the seal off as well? Read and find out.
There was a fun playfulness about this series that I really enjoyed. The author threw in a healthy mix of comedic relief to each character and I loved how there were so many completely opposite personalities.
this series was about how one very lucky/unlucky human teenager ends up at a boarding school for monsters ends up becoming a ghoul and fails in love with a vampire along with having 4 other monsters fall in love with him
This series is more for the readers that can try something new and have a passion for mythical creatures of sorts. The first few volumes are mainly to set you up for the story. The second season I would have to say is much better
Cute, well done manga. I really enjoyed Akihisa Ikeda's illustrations, maybe even a bit more than the story itself, though I enjoyed it as well. Granted, it isn't one of my all time faves, but I would certainly read additional volumes.
Review from vol. 1 to vol 10. Even though it wasn't my main purpose to read a manga at the beginning of the year, however I found it more easily to read when you are at work. (hahahaha considering the short of time)
The main reason that I read it is because I watched the anime, it was weird and funny, which I'm basing my review.
** Some details of the manga and as well of the anime I didn't it like it for the reason that most of the time the main characters either show their underwear all the time or that a 11 year old girl is sexualized, which I can take some points out of it***
When I started to watch the anime online I could see that the story was some different from the original manga. Main reason? It has a lot of blood and fights, which I don't think is a big issue since most of Japanese animation content has a certain amount of blood, and most of those animations, characters such as women, are sexualized with short clothes (dresses, skirts, shirts, etc) which right now is one of the issues with the manga of Ikemoto (Boruto, Naruto Next Generation ) that the main female character, Sarada Uchiha, barely has clothes on it. Which is totally "normal" .(which on my point of view is wrong, but in real life I can see little girls wearing those short shorts)
***Continuing with the review AND ALSO SPOILERS*** I actually enjoy more the manga, since the story is better and also we could see the main male character, Tsukune Aono , has a stronger and greater development rather in the anime. I like the point where women can defend themselves or to have a certain ability to to defeat someone. I like the uniqueness of the characters.
My favorite characters: Akashiya, Moka: She is a vampire and as well there are two person with totally different personalities. The external Moka is sweet and understandable in all the situations, to the contrary with the inner Moka which can be cold and really proud, however they have something in common to protect Tsukune and save him.
Mizore Shirayuki: Weird and unique, she is more calm and less expressive characters, however her intentions is to trust someone and to protect them.
and of course Tsukune Aono, he is not the great male character that I love crazily, but his development is good, he maintains his honesty towards himself and with the people that surrounds him. I like the little crush he has with Moka
I will definitely continue reading g this manga.(Maybe next month, first I need to fish some books behind)

This manga is not terrible, let’s just say that. But it has a lot of problems.
The art is beautiful and I think the art itself is where the author’s talent lies most heavily, not plotting. The plots of each volume…pretty laughable to even try to identify them with the idea of ‘plot.’ The situations are so see through you know well before anything goes down just how it all will end.
Fan service is always appalling when it happens upon a page, though expected, but some of the scenes are too ridiculous and insulting to bear.
One of the biggest things that turns me off when reading is how unfoundedly every female creature flocks at the main character. It’s stupid, unrealistic and makes the volumes hard to get through. Tsukune has his modesty, his kindness and his loyalty going for him, but the ladies don’t recognize those attributes and use them as a basis for their undying love for him. The love is just thrown in there to make him look like a big shot, a young boy acting as a damsel in distress, needing savior from the girls around him.
I think what keeps me reading these books (despite having bought them all for really cheap and used) is the incorporation of different monsters and what possible ridiculous motives they might have. That, along with the arc of the Rosario and the tensions and connections it creates between Moka and Tsukune. In the end, I’m still going to read into the “second season” to see if it will get any better. First series : 2/5 stars
Good book. Did not leave on a cliff hanger like 1 through 8 did. Kinda interested in season 2 because i know Moka's little sister comes. Happy that they did a longer Q&A thing at the end of this one. Tsuknu having a cousin that tells his mom about the school event she thought happened was new as it did not happen in the anime. Kinda happy the manga made more sense about the story than the anime did also happy that the amount of "fan service" in it was basically 0 through out the entire season.
Having finished the first part of this series I'm confident in saying that this was so much fun. I loved all of the characters and had a blast seeing them overcome all of the obstacles presented to them. There were so many great villains in this series and all of them were given their just deserts. I also loved every hilarious moment squeezed in between all of the violent battles. I'll definitely be moving on to season two soon.
Kind of wished they ended with the Hokuto story line as that felt more climatic then what we got in this volume. The return of Ishigami while hinted at after the the fight with the Acadamy police still felt forced but still loved it when the girls arrived at Tsukune's house as was really funny and did a good job acting as sort of an epilogue chapter.
The conclusion to Rosario+Vampire: Season 1! It combined all the elements I have loved about this series and gave a satisfying ending, whilst also getting me pumped to start Season 2! I probably will at some point soon, but I most probably want to check out some other Shonen Jump mangas first. I have a lot of popular series to catch up on now I’m fully invested in reading manga. I remember first watching the anime when I was younger, at the end of High School, so I’m really glad I got around to finally reading it! And Season 2 will be completely new to me as I never watched it, so that’s exciting.
If you like cutesy teen dramas with monsters, gore and vampire x human romance - then this is the series for you! 🧛🏻♀️🖤 Moka (the vampire) and Tsukune (the human) aren’t officially together - but Tsukune isn’t entirely just human at this point. He turned into a ghoul and has his vampire powers locked away like Moka’s. Only to be unleashed in times of danger. Every girl character in the main friendship circle of monsters is besotted/obsessed with Tsukune. But I think this is just a bit of fan service for whoever ends up being your favourite girl. So they all get a bit of the spotlight. I hope this element of them just all obsessing over him changes in Season 2 and the other girls come into their own abit. Maybe introduce more “good” male monsters? Or two of the girls could fall for each other and we have some sapphic monster love? 🥺 we’ll have to wait and see!
I feel this should have ended with the school being destroyed and left everyone's fate up in the air.
With Tskune cousin, knowing what the school is and everyone revealing their true selves. Ruby is now working the Headmaster. Because of the school needing to be rebuilt, everyone is sent back home.
Tsukune goes home and all the girls somehow beat him there. And they meet his Mom. It goes as expected...chaos and funny moments.
The whole plot of this is that Tsukune was mistaken accepted into this academy even though he is human, I feel like this was someone pulling strings behind the scenes, but it is never said how he came to be accepted and who was the one that did it.
At some point, he will have to chose between the human and monster world, but right now, he can spend sometime with this family.
I know there is an anime for this, which is nothing like the manga. I hope one day that redo it like they did with Full Metal Alchemist and Sailor Moon. I am not sure if I will read season 2 or not. Maybe.

Series review: I had to really stop and think about my feelings on this series. On the one hand, it was a really engaging story with legitimately good action sequences that kept my attention. On the other hand, the fan-service did not appeal and often popped up at points where it broke the tension, leaving me slightly disgusted and rolling my eyes.
But, even though I was clearly not the target audience, I found myself very much invested. And while I don't expect that I'll ever go back and read this series again, I suppose I'm glad that I read it this time around.
The weakest part of this manga is the harem part. Only Moka is a reasonable match for Tsukune, and even he makes that obvious. This is he second volume in a row that highlights the harem part, and I don't enjoy it.
I have Rosario+Vampire season 2, but haven't located all the volumes yet, so it will have to wait.
This was a good volume and I found the interactions between Tsukunes' mother and his friends entertaining and I found it funny that the poor guy can't even have a quiet moment in the shower without the girls showing up. I also found the final story cool too.
