I went to my favorite used book store to find a cookbook recomended by a friend French Food at Home by Laura Calder. I didn't find it but this was a fantastic accidental find. I prefer to have physical books when cooking instead of uploading them to my ipad. I'm not sure why I just do. this cook book is large like a coffee table book and beautiful enough to keep out on the coffee table. There are pictures with all the recipes both in process illustrations and finished product. The beginning of the book has history and explanation about French people and their style of cooking. The salad section and deserts are not to be missed. I think I could live on only salads from this book for the rest of my life. The pictures of the deserts are so beautiful. All of the recipes had ingredients readily available at any local grocery store. I will still be looking for a 2003 edition of Laura Calders cookbook but I am so glad I found this one I love it.

I bought this book ages ago off of a Waldenbooks bargain table. I have had it for years and have only made a few recipes out of it. They are a bit too involved for me to enjoy making them.

I bought this book for myself in high school when I was obsessing over French cuisine and, specifically, wanted to try making creme brulee. Most of the recipes in here are well worth it, especially the desserts. Nothing in here is terribly difficult, but a basic knowledge of cooking will help you along. I still turn to this book today for a lot of my favorite dishes. (French onion soup... mmmmmmmm!)
