Painted-by-numbers-erotica story. Unimaginative, unsexy, boring. Rote. Oh and on top of all that bad BDSM.

BDSM by the numbers - I didn't find much of anything new or different with this short little story that separates it from the eleventy billion other tales out there. I think this genre is probably getting a bit stale for me - not the author's fault. So it's a me, not you thing perhaps.

Ok, gotta be honest here- spanking isn't really my kink. That said, I like reading about other peoples' kinks. And the overall writing on this one was fun and carried the theme of the kink through pretty convincingly. Lucy's sexuality was woven very tightly into the whole narrative- no plot/plot/spanky sex here, because the spanky sex IS the plot.
It was short, but I don't really mind that. Other peoples' kinks are more fun in small chunks. Not sure when I'll come back to read the rest of the series, but I'm sure I will at some point.
The sexy professor is vague, since this is definitely just an introduction, but his approach to his dom role is far more logical to me than the usual romance alpha males, even if it plays on some similar psychological tropes. I could read more of him. Also, except for a few of his kinks, he's my type of dom.

First in a series, or I'd call it a serial. Very short. One of those 'throbbing and wet within the first few pages just from his deep and commanding voice' books.

Good book if you like a naughty story. The characters and base made for a great, but sadly too short read. I think it could easily be a full length novel

No thanks.
I think I'm moving on from these kinds of books. It was raw and I probably would like it. I like Dom/Sub relationships and teacher/student flings too. So I thought this was going to be awesome.
I don't like how this was SO SHORT and nothing much happened. Then I'm suppose to pay 2.99 each for the next 10 books? No thanks!

A Satisfying Read
A very steamy story. One of my first times reading a book of this genre. Very impressed, the other did not disappoint, she kept me aching for more. Definitely knows how to keep you on edge. Superb vocab!

Very well crafted.
I enjoyed this book very much. Most are so eager to get to the meat they neglect the all important preparations. The very best of such things occur in the submissive's mind. This book depicts that very well. (And it's too short!)

i almost quit reading at the beginning with lucy sounding like a spoiled child under the age of 10- knowing where the story was heading...she was a little bit easier to deal with as the story went on.

I’m usually not interested in professor/student themes, but this one wasn’t bad. The Dom/sub aspect made reading this story even more interesting. Looking forward to the second part.

This story is about a free spirited girl, Lucy Montgomery, who has a crush on her college professor, Ryan Sherwood. Lucy has grown up with hippie parents who really didn't put limits on her. With one look at Professor Sherwood, she feels the smoldering professor can rein her in, bound her, and protect her.
During the story she fantasizes about him constantly, maybe even to the point she becomes obsessive. She was slacking on the quality of her schoolwork, wasn't hanging out with her friends, using her fingers down to the bone (sometimes up to four times a day...lol), and having all her thoughts on how to get the Professor alone so they could have their way with each other. She got to the point of snooping in his office, but good he didn't catch her.
They became comfortable with each other outside of class. While sitting in the quad of the campus drinking coffee they would talk about books, other topics, or just sit in comfortable silence while doing work. She was stimulating his mind, which I believe was important to him. And it seemed the Professor was researching her due to the fact that he had knowledge of her classes and other professors.
I love how Lucy was bold about what she wanted. She finally got him alone and was confident enough to strip herself in front of Professor Sherwood and reveal her intentions. He rejected her!!! When that happened I would have dropped his class. But he came to his senses and saw something in her that he was attracted to and could tame into submission.
I had to laugh at the part in the book where she began being early for class to follow the Professor's instructions to her. She stated herself that she was never on time for anything. When a fine, handsome man tells you in a commanding, sexy voice to be somewhere and to do something specific you lose your mind and do things out of your normal character. He got her mind right!!!
Things were a little fast in the book but it still made for a good story. Can't wait to read the next installment and to see how this relationship progresses

Currently, a really big trend in the romance genre is the subgenre of BDSM. Though this genre is not new, thanks to 50 Shades, this subgenre is getting more notice. Teach Me Something New Pt. 1 is no different in this trend. It is a relatively Free short story, ends on a cliffhanger, making you purchase all of the other parts (which at this time I have not…). The whole premise of the story is Lucy is in Grad School. She decides to take a literature class as to observe and she meets the most delicious professor. She doesn't take things seriously, talks out of turns, and berates other students. After class, she goes to the professor's office; notices that the door is unlock and snoops around. She finds some BDSM type magazines in his desk drawer. This gets her wheels going, she begins fantasizing at home, and researching everything she can about BDSM and what it might be like. To make a short story shorter, Professor McDelicious starts taking notice in her, reading "smut" books she suggests, and then, to top it all off…he starts becoming her Dom…very slowly.
There weren't any spectacular scenes. No smutty, slutty sexy scenes. Some spankings of course, because let's face it, Lucy is NOT a good little girl, if you catch my drift. Through the story she is given "tests" and "Tasks." The author slowly builds up a heat, but offers no release in this part. I will eventually get around to reading the others. I am hoping this story offers some promise and will deliver on the budding heat between Lucy and her delicious professor.

For a 46 page book, it is so well developed and structured it felt like a real story in just a few pages. Lucy just leaped off the page as the strong willed, determined college student at the beginning of the story that I was literally shocked to see her transformation by the end of the book. Professor Sherwood was so detailed I could seriously feel myself melt with his words.
This book one in the series gives us the back ground of these two characters and the discovery that not only is he into spankings and being in control, she finds she is more than interested in what the Professor has to offer. When he is trying her out to see how dedicated she is to this, we see him take small steps by making demands on Lucy to prove if she is really a good candidate for this life style.
Of course Lucy is so over the top about him she was filling his requests and takes the punishments he dished out. As I said this book is NOT just a scene, it goes over a few days and is really the foundation for this relationship to start. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. Short book series like this, which feel like a continuous soap opera are fast becoming some of my favorite types of series. The excitement of going to the next book to see what happens next only seems to increase with each book in the series.

I like books that seem like it could really happen. This book started off that way. It seemed like Ryan and Lucy just went from the student crushing on her professor, to dominant/submissive in the snap of a finger. I think if the story was told from a 3rd person point of view, it would be easier to see how they crossed that line so quickly. We'd be able to understand what's going on in his mind. How he feels about Lucy and what he wants to do to her. Because the story is being told by Lucy, we are trying to guess Ryan's reactions just as much as she is. And he is showing no emotions. Nothing about him physically says anything on what his intentions are... until that first punishment.

I read this book because I know next to nothing about BDSM and was curious. This book had a lot of sex, naturally, but it also had a plot and wasn't just straight-up erotica. Still don't understand the appeal, but the book was interesting and well-written. I'd like to have gotten to know the main character better, but since this is a series maybe the author lets us get to know her in the sequel.

Lucy was attending college and majoring in business but had a passion for Victorian literature. Being raised by hippie parents she knew no boundaries and spoke her mind. So arriving late to audit the class was not acceptable for Professor Sherwood. So a meeting after class was called for. But the electricity was apparent but to what extent.

YES!!!! This was such a lovely beginning that I've immediately purchased part 2. If you've ever had a fantasy about a sexy professor dominating you - read this. And I very much liked Lucy. She's got a wild hair across her ass, as the saying goes, and it reminds me of myself. I cant wait to get started on the follow-up. #Delicious.

Even though it was predictable, the exploration of a light BDSM fantasy scenario was at least fairly believable. I'm intrigued enough to read the next book, but the writing was juvenile and sloppy. 3 stars, hoping the writing will find a better editor in the next installment.
