Two merchants gather fur pelts during a winter storm to sell on the market for later. One of the merchants gets deathly sick and the other merchant takes him to the doctor. The healthy merchant begins to think some malicious thoughts, imagining scenarios of what would happen if his partner died. He wouldn't have to split the profits and he would get all the fortune for himself, so he finds a way to make it all look like some sort of terrible accident. He gets what he wants, but his actions come back to haunt him. Literally.
The story is decent but the prose and dialogue are poor and meandering. A fairly good ghost story about the consequences of greed and excessive selfishness.
Matt Hager is sick of the cold. He's taking his partner Ben Cahill to the doctor in Moose Gulch by dogsled. He's also loaded the sled down with the firs they've trapped so they won't get stolen while they're gone. He begins to wonder what would happen if Cahill doesn't make it... One thing, he wouldn't have to split the money from the sale of the furs.
História fraca de horror. Tem algumas escolhas interessantes para as palavras, mas não dá sequer um minuto de calafrios. Boa para passar o tempo, mas só.
