To Write a Wrong was a nice read, but not one that completely drew me in. I liked the suspense story and trying to figure out what was going on. I was somewhat surprised by the villain and that was great.

All in all, To Write a Wrong was a fine one-time read. I liked it. :)

Murder. Mystery. Deception. And the Deep South. You can up with a fairly intense plot with just these few elements.

On a journey to right a wrong that has put a supposedly innocent man behind bars, Riley is taken into a world I don’t think she planned on entering. She is a determined reporter, intent on finding the truth and isn’t afraid to share it. Which gets her into trouble throughout the story.

What captivated me the most in this novel and sets it apart from other mystery/thrillers, were the many subplots. Each character has their own story to tell and yet each part of their lives feeds into the main story. I don’t think there was probably a single scene without some form of character subtext filling the pages. Which is difficult to accomplish.

The mystery takes on an unfamiliar twist, delving into the health care world of managed care. I thought the story line especially creative taking into consideration the research and imagination that was put into play to come up with a murder that didn’t just tackle one issue.

As I mentioned, I think the different layers of this book, really set the story apart. I would definitely say this was a novel worth discovering for those who like a mystery with a romantic subplot, but also for the readers looking for something different. I was pleased with my latest novel find!

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through Netgalley for my early release to review.

The second book in the Justice Seekers series focuses mainly on Riley Baxter’s story.

Riley is a writer who needs a good story to help boost her journalistic career. While testifying at a parole hearing for the man that killed her parents she meets Peggy and her two children Jasmine and Mikey. Riley is drawn to them because of the poverty they have been forced into when Peggy’s husband was put in prison. Riley decides that their story would be a great human interest story and also a story that will hopefully get her career back on track.

Peggy insists that her husband is innocent of the crime he was convicted of. On the night of a museum robbery his daughter swears that he was home with the family. During the course of her investigation Riley becomes convinced of Armand’s innocence as well. Once Riley starts investigating she puts the real culprit at risk of being discovered. He cannot allow that to happen and is determined to snuff Riley out to stop anyone from finding out who he really is.

Along with the suspense of this novel there is also a bit of romance. Hayden and Riley have an instant attraction for each other. Which I’m happy about because in the first book of the series, Injustice For All, Hayden’s best friend Remington falls in love with FBI agent Rafe Baxter. I was looking forward to seeing if Hayden ever found the love of his life since I really liked his character in the first book. Not only is Riley faced with danger, but she is also confronted with her unforgiveness of the man who killed her parents. When he comes up for parole she and Rafe beg the parole board to not allow him parole. She still misses her parents and believes that he should rot in prison for the rest of his life.

I think To Write A Wrong has the perfect blend of suspense, romance and depth of human feelings which made for a great read. The third book of the Justice Seekers series will focus on Maddie Baxter’s story. I will be looking forward to reading it when it comes out.

Riley Baxter’s parents were killed several years by Simon Lancaster as a result of his driving while drunk. He was sent to Louisiana’s Angola prison and is now up for parole. He claims he is a changed man. He has found God but Riley has doubts. She thinks he is still a danger to society and voices her opinion at the parole hearing. While she is there she meets a family of a man who is serving a prison sentence for a robbery and murder. His family feels that he is innocent. The daughter touches Riley’s heart so she decided to write a series of articles. She feels this is the story that will jump start her career as a news reporter. Her boss says she needs to write one good story to keep her job. She aspires to be the next Diane Sawyer. As she gets to know the family more she believes in this man’s innocence but someone but someone wants her dead. She had had a couple of attempts on her life. While in Louisiana she stays with Hayden Simpson's mother, Ardy. We were introduced to the Simpsons in the first book. Hayden, the local police commissioner tries to help her but he has problems of his own with a rebellious sister and a string of unsolved murders. Are these murders connected to the innocent man in jail? You will have to read the story to see how it all comes together.

I enjoyed the novel but it did not get really suspenseful until I was about 100 pages into the novel. I was totally taken by surprise as to who was the man who made attempts on Riley's life and the man responsible for the murders. Looking back I think there may have been some clues that I overlooked. I am looking forward to the next book that comes out in 2013 that will focus on the oldest Baxter sibling, Maddie.

I received this book compliments of B&H Publishing and Netgalley. I was not compensated for this book. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

This book was really good, while I thought it may have been more fast paced than it was – it wasn’t but it was still a good book. I think the thing that kept me from holding back is that there was so much going on – there was the romance of three main characters and their love interest, keeping whose who and what job they were doing sort of started to run together. The book did have me guessing though and I finally did figure it out but of course it wasn’t until the last half of the book, and even then I was still doubting myself – I like that about a book.

Having never read Robin Carroll before, this book was one that had me thinking I really need to get the first book and read it and anxiously await the next book in the series. Even with what I said above it wasn’t a total distraction, I was glad to see that the characters seemed real and could be related to and they had a real faith in the Lord and were always or almost always seeking Him in how they should do an action. There was one cuss word, okay I consider it a cuss, but my husband more than likely wouldn’t and it was in the heat of a moment when anger was at a height and that was the way the character got it out. In case my readers wonder, the word was p**s*d, to some that may not be an issue but I prefer not to use it in any form.

Overall, though if you like Christian suspense then this will fit the bill, especially if you want something that you can just sort of dive into and be able to escape for a few minutes at a time (I don’t have time to sit for hours and read uninterrupted) and just unwind. It was an enjoyable book and even with so much information to keep straight I found that I was able to keep everything straight before the end of the book and if I could just understand why the character Remington changed her name I’d be happy – either I missed it in reading or it was covered in Book 1.

To Write A Wrong by Robin Caroll
A Justice Seekers Novel Book 2
Hayden Simpson is the police commissioner of the small town of Hopewell, Louisiana. His biggest problem had been his little sister, Emily, getting into trouble but now he has to face a gruesome murder and it’s only starting. What bad timing to meet the beautiful journalist who just happens to be staying at his mom’s house. But murder don’t step aside so love can blossom.

Riley Baxter is on the edge of losing her job and perhaps her whole journalism career. Her editor will give her one more chance to prove herself. While at Angola State Penitentiary for a hearing she meets a small family who have come to see their husband and father and been denied. What a story she sees here, how not only the prisoner is punished but their families as well. The story ends up more than she could imagine when she believes that Armand Wilson may truly be innocent. Can her stories be worth killing for?

The first book in this series is called, Injustice for All. Even though they can be stand alone books you may want to read that one first if you enjoy series and to know what happened before so you can understand the characters even better. This book has so many different angles that all come together. So many different emotions. Walking with the Wilson’s and seeing what happened in their life when Armand went to prison, Wiley’s struggle with wanting a drunk driver to stay in prison, getting inside the mind of the killer and seeing what makes him tick and so much more. Plenty of suspense and action along with surprises. And of course the romance.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Wow this book grabs you on the first page and doesn’t let you go until the very last word! I love books that capture my attention like this, and I thoroughly enjoyed Robin Caroll’s “To Write a Wrong.” The characters are well created and developed throughout the story. I really like the beginning of the book, as we get to know some of the characters, that there is such a warm family feeling. A family that has their problems, but you can see the love that flows between them. And there are so many twists and turns that happen in this story you just need to hang on and don’t let go until you finish reading. And then it will still grip you for a long time. I love, love this book and appreciate the opportunity to read and review it.

I don’t want to ruin this book for anyone, I really hate knowing what’s gonna happen in a book when I start reading it, so I won’t say more. Except that, if you like suspense, mystery, thrillers, legal issues, and not to forget romance, well this is a must read for you! You cannot go wrong, and will be very glad that you decided to pick up a copy of this book for your own enjoyment.

I was provided a copy of this book by FIRST WildCard Tours, B&B Media and the publisher B&H Books to read and write a review. I was not expected or required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

We meet up with Riley Baxter as she is about to attend the parole hearing of Simon Lancaster...the man who driving drunk killer her Mom and Dad. She is so upset....and really hasn't forgiven.
A chance encounter on the way out of the prison put Riley on a new course in her life. She meets the family of Armand Wilson...they had gone to the prison to see him, and were denied a visit, because of some food found in Armand's locker.
Hayden Simpson is the police commissioner, and the brother of Remington. Remington is now in a relationship with Riley's brother Rafe. Most everyone is staying at Hayden's Mom's Ardy...the woman who's cooking skills lures them all!
Your about to start a great adventure, and most of what happens seems to be interwoven...even to Emily, another sister of Hayden's. Be ready to want to scream at the injustices that happen, and some of the heartwarming things. Love that these people have a great relationship with the Lord!

I received this book through First Wild Card Tours, and the publisher B&H, and was not required to give a positive review.

"To Write A Wrong" is the second book in the Justice series and I really wish I would have had the opportunity to read the first one. Not because the author doesn't give enough information for this one to stand alone, instead I found the characters interesting and making me certain the first book would have been great.

The prologue really drew me in, a simple robbery gone wrong, how could I not be hooked, needing to know what would happen. From then though it took me a bit to learn who and what the characters were all about, but once I did though the story became a real page turner. The character of Riley Spartz really came to life in the pages of the book. I really felt for the Wilson children, especially Jasmine. I could easily understand her anger, and why she wanted Riley's help, in proving that her father was an innocent man. As Riley gets closer to the truth she winds up in danger herself. Overall, a real page turner that makes me want to go back and read the first book titled "Injustice For All." Recommended!

Riley is a struggling journalist who has one last chance to write a story to save her career. She stumbles across a story that she hopes will be her saving grace: a family who believes their loved one serving time in jail is innocent. Riley’s published story on the family becomes a big hit; in fact, it is such a big hit that a hit is ordered on her to have her eliminated and to stop her from digging further into the case.

This was a well-written story that centered around the theme of forgiveness. It made me question if I have ever behaved like Riley in saying that I am a Christian, but don’t feel capable of offering forgiveness in every circumstance. Thank you B & H Publishing Group for giving me the opportunity to preview this egalley! I enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions I went through and the soul searching it made me do while reading it.

Riley is not the spoiled brat she seemed in the first book, and there may be hope for Emily yet.
This book takes a hard look at forgiveness and what that really means.
Even if I had not read the first book in the series, this one would stand alone very well. However, having read the first Justice Seekers novel, this was icing on the cake because it felt like "coming home."
A well done "whodunnit" with as many twists and turns as the bayou it's set in.

Loved the book. It's a great mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. It's one of those books that when you start it, you don't want to put it down until you finish it. This is a sequal to INJUSTICE FOR ALL but does stand alone if you have not read the first one. I highly recommend both of these books and I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Reporter Riley Baxter and small town police commissioner Hayden Simpson develop a relationship while exonerating an innocent man and catching a serial killer. Many plot threads weave together into a coherent picture, with a small but surprising twist at the end. The characters are especially believable as they work through realistic struggles with emotions, ethics, and Chrisian beliefs.

Journalism and Mystery and Suspense

Excellent story. I seem to be reading this series backwards but it's still an exciting page turner. Or I should say page swiped as read it on my Kindle Fire. Now I have got to go find the first book to in the series!

This is a book with a Christian world view and does include Biblical principles and some Bible verses. If that's not your style, read it anyway for the Suspense and Mystery. I do Not think you will be sorry you did.

**I received a copy of this novel for review through Netgalley.**

The premise of this story appealed to me, which is why I applied to read it through Netgalley. To be honest though, had I been aware that this was actually Christian fiction (which wasn't overtly obvious on that site) then I highly doubt I would have ever requested it in the first place. It's certainly not a badly written read, but for me, the constant references to God, Jesus and forgiveness were just far too much and really dominated the storyline. I realise that comes down to a matter of personal taste however and I'm sure a lot of readers will really love this book.

This is the second in the 'Justice Seekers' series (nope, I haven't read the first) and focuses on journalist Riley, whose career is hanging by a thread. When personal circumstances allow her path to cross with that of teenager Jasmine, she realises that the potential scoop for a story could lie right under her nose: Jasmine's father has been imprisoned for a crime that no one in his family believes he committed- and after a bit of digging, Riley starts to believe it too. With the help of local Police Commissioner Hayden, Riley sets out to prove the man's innocence, never questioning the danger that it may pose to her own life in the process...

See, great premise- and the writing was actually well done too and certainly held my attention. I have to say though, that I wasn't exactly wild about any of the characters; Riley, the main female protagonist is self-centred and Emily, one of the secondary characters is a complete spoiled brat. I suppose the male lead, Hayden, was sweet enough, albeit a bit 'goody goody.' The strongest character was actually teenager Jasmine, who makes a few fleeting appearances and definitely wasn't utilised enough in this book. I personally think its hard to care about what is happening plot-wise when the characters in the action just don't excite you at all, which was regrettably what I found here.

Speaking of the plot, there was some good tension and a few well-paced twists and turns, though I did find the ending obvious and 'whodunnit' was evident part-way through when a not so subtle hint was dropped as to one of the main features about him. CLANG. Also, I feel I must add that the Kindle format that I received for review was completely screwed up, with no page breaks whatsoever and scenes that ran into each other continually, which did make the reading process a bit harder for me to understand. This did not have any bearing on my overall rating of the book, but certainly affected the ease of me reading the novel itself- so Kindle readers beware!

This aside, I think that if you are a fan of the crime/suspense genre and you aren't too picky or not as to whether Christian themes impinge on the plot, then this is a novel that will appeal to you. There are a lot of themes covered throughout, the main ones being redemption, acceptance and forgiveness. It was fairly easy reading that posed some interesting questions too, though unfortunately I don't think I would be in a rush to read further books from this author.

This was the second in the Justice Seekers series. I read the first one, Injustice for All, last year. The main characters in that book are in this one as well but the story is basically about Riley and her search for justice for an innocent man convicted of murder.

Riley is Rafe's (from book 1) younger sister and an aspiring journalist. While at the prison for a parole hearing she comes upon a family visiting their husband/father who has been convicted of murder. Seeing a story, she sets out to write about the family and thus gets herself in the sights of the real killer. Riley is helped by the local police commissioner Hayden, with whose mother she is staying and who was also in the previous book.

I have to say that although I did not like the killer or his methods (murdering ten people including his infant brother), I did somewhat sympathize with his motive; insurance companies in the U.S. are far too quick to deny treatment because it is "experimental" or just do not want to pay. I have an online friend with this problem right now; severe and debilitating back pain, surgery ordered by her doctor but denied by insurance. The killer had a life-changing experience as a teenager, which prompted his actions from then on, although I have to wonder if the tendency towards such evil was there all along and some other experience would have brought it out.

I liked Riley and her new beau Hayden, and look forward to seeing them in the third book, even as minor characters, just as it was good to see Rafe and Remington in this one. Book three will be out in March and I will be checking the library regularly for it. :) Rafe and Riley have a sister, Maddie, who made a minor appearance in this book and will have her own story in the next one.

I only had one little complaint and it has nothing to do with the story itself, just a personal thing - the author mentions mobile homes (trailers) twice, putting them in a bad light; I live in a mobile home in a very good adult-only mobile home park; I doubt a single resident here has orange carpeting, and our units are all very well kept. Inside they look like any house in any well-kept neighbourhood and outside most have beautiful flowers and trees.

To be fair, I have to first say that I didn't read the first book in this series. I may not fully understand all of the past history of the characters a hundred percent.

The good news, for me anyway, is that this book can easily be a stand alone novel. I never felt I was missing much of the overall picture as I read.

This book was easy to get involved in and took me no time at all to become interested in. There are multiple different avenues the author, Robin Caroll, pursues throughout this book and eventually they all tie together very nicely. Each of the side stories was captured my interest and there were no dull spots.

The mysteries in this novel abound and there are so many wonderful things about the characters and the way they are developed into people you want to get to know that it is difficult to pick just one that was my favorite. If I absolutely had to choose, I guess I would say that Jasmine was my favorite. While she was not the main character, I thought the author did such an impressive job of turning her into an important and realistic part of her story she is a character I will not soon forget.

The dialogue in To Write a Wrong is written very well. It never felt stilted and each individual character was unique in the way they expressed their personalities.

I liked the main character, Riley, although at the very beginning I did think she came off as a bit immature. I started getting a sense that she might have more depth and be more respectable during the portion of the book where she questioned her own ethic while speaking to Jasmine and her mother. In the end, she was a character I grew to like very much.

Now that I have read this book, I would gladly read the book I have missed and look forward to reading the next one in the series as well.

If you like mystery, romance and well developed stories where the characters earn your respect, this is the book for you.

To Write a Wrong is a gripping, suspense-filled novel. Robin Caroll takes her readers back to Hopewell, Louisiana to continue the Baxter saga. I really enjoyed the first novel in the Justice Seekers series, Injustice For All, but I have to say this book topped it by far. I loved seeing Hayden find someone he deeply cared about and watching his and Riley’s relationship develop. Readers also finally get to see the Emily (Hayden’s sister) that Ardy (their mother) swore was in there. I greatly enjoyed seeing this other side of her and watching Emily’s character grow.

While it isn’t necessary to read Injustice For All to understand this novel, I would suggest doing so. Though the mysteries are completely separate, reading the first book provides a lot more depth and insight into the characters and their fears, worries, and decisions.

I found the large amount of incomplete sentences distracting and at times annoying, but nonetheless the story made up for it. I definitely recommend To Write a Wrong to readers looking for a romantic suspense novel infused with faith.

In To Write A Wrong we meet again with the characters we got to know in Injustice for All. Now Riley Baxter - Rafe Baxter's sister - and the police commissioner - Hayden Simpson - are the main characters.

Riley is a reporter and she will have to come up with a good story to satisfy her editor, or she might be out of work soon. When she meets a family whose father is in jail for a crime he didn't commit, Riley has found her story. She believes the father is innocent and hopes to proof that through her stories. While she's doing research somebody wants to kill her, because she's coming too close to solve the case. Can Hayden keep her safe? - and find the killer before it’s too late?

This was another great book by Robin Caroll. I really like the characters in this new series and I'm looking forward to get to know the third Baxter family member in Strand of Deception.

Thanks to the publishers through Netgalley for my review copy.

Robin Caroll writes the type of book that has you rooting for the good guy(or gal) and wishing you were in the fight! This book opens with a scene that makes you want to know what happens and goes full speed ahead from that point. A robbery turns into a murder and you have an exciting plot for an excellent book. There was nothing in this book I had a problem with and Robin did great research on the area and history. It deals with a tough subject of forgiving someone, even when they have done a great wrong. Good thought-provoking novel! Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series which tells Maddie's story.

** I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review**

DNF tried to finish for over 1 month but I could not get into the storyline. The story starts off with a little bit of interest, sadly it does not pick up fast enough at a pace that made me want to read further. I am giving it 2 stars though because the storyline was not completely boring, it did somewhat hold my attention 30% of the book. This one was just not for me.

It was good but not great. It helped that I had already read the first book in the series. I did like the characters and the plot...it just wasn't very surprising. Not really any strange twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. Still, if I run across more books by Robin Caroll, I will give them a try.

Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed Robin Carroll's writing. Faith, romance, suspense, mystery...even good food! What more could you ask for?!

My only complaint was that the author omitted any detail about Emily's reaction to the plot's resolution. Perhaps we will hear more from this character in the future.
