When Serenity parties all night at a rave, the rave turns into a rant when an intimate conversation reveals that her friends may not actually like her.
Serenity prays alot....let's just say that she is on terms with Jesus so well that she feels like she can talk to him like a normal person, so she does so.....often. So, when she is not seeing any drastic changes in her life, she starts to wonder what God is doing for her and how is He is making her a better person. Then, she realizes that she turned down drugs, when offered them at the "Jesus Rave" party, and that that itself is a big step in her life.
I have read this book before but I don't remember when. I would recommend this Christians and also Non-Christians too. There is always a good message that sticks to you after you read each graphic novel. I own majority of these graphic novels, but I can't find them. This graphic novel in particular felt like there was a little bit of a character development in Serenity (in my opinion) because of how she prays to God and wonders about all these certain events that happen at this point of her life.
Cool theme, good challenging questions, but could use better answers
This set does a good job of getting inside people's minds overall, sharing their thoughts in a realistic way. Youth party scene I think was a good topic, removed from school and home life for a while and am personally a fan of techno. Serenity battles some deep thoughts, concerns, as many of us do. Responses from the Christian crowd were 'okay', not greatly helpful, but as teens or representing most of us Christians on most occasions, that's fair. I often don't have the right answers, so coaching others to go to God for results can be challenging. Overall, fun comic and probably best as a conversation starter rather than a resolution.
As a story, I think this was pretty good. There was adequate tension and real danger present throughout the story, and also real reason to celebrate at the end because it is more than evident that Serenity is growing and finding more security in her sobriety. I didn't rate this higher because Serenity's lifelong grudge against Kimberly is just so boring—and the extent to which Kimberly's life revolves around Derek is unsurprising, but disappointing nonetheless.
Still after Derek and mad at Kimberly, one of Serenity's friends asked her to come to a Rave. she doean't know it's at the church until she's in the car. Some guys come in and try selling meth to ppl and everyone including Serenity said no. her faith is growing a lil stronger in God and she is praying a lil bit too!
